What step do you find yourself struggling with the most? Which areas do you feel most proficient in?
Great to see those Griffin Conway videos rolling again. Missed you, man!
I have been a photographer for decades and stumbled into videography almost by accident. 8 some odd years later, I still find myself slipping, almost too easily, into the VERY mindset you describe: “that is such a great (fill in the blank) video, there is no way I will ever get there!” This has been very inspiring and helpful! Thank you! I’ll keep plugging along…and creating!
No background music, no loud and euphoric speaking, no switching between different locations, voices and styles. like all the other UA-cam videos out there. But nevertheless it wasn't boring at all just to listen to you like a podcast. Some people hit it with their kind of talking and at the other hand there are people you get boring off like 60sec into the videos.
that's so interesting to see.
Really helpful and deep meaning video, thx a lot ^^
Hey Griffin as a brand spanking new film maker with zero experience, this has been a great watch!
When wise words come from heart, its truth binds us. Thanks for posting such an insightful and heart touching video.
I stumbled on your channel on the one year anniversary of this video. This is really useful practical info. I think I subscribe to 30 channels total this is now one of them.
I love this guy! taught me alot about how to use my c70!
Absolutely trigged some thoughts here, Griffin. Thanks! I'd love to look at this pyramid from the beginner's mind perspective. Never take 'your' components for granted. Come back regularly to check the status and reinforce where needed.
YES! PILLARS FOR THE WIN!
Currently leveling up my technically game!
Badass video Griffin, Cheers from Venezuela. 🤓👏🏻✌🏻
Great vid man! Agree completely.
rrrrrrr you've just nailed it again Griffin. Thanks again for the inspiration.
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO Griffin!!! fellow C70 guy here!! I've been in a plateau for the longest time since the pandemic and everything you said here just lit all that fire back. thank you!
Love this video man. I make videos for my job but when our country locked down I lost so much momentum, definitely understand the part about getting a bit down, but thanks for the inspirational words man.
Magnificently presented video, Griffin. Inspirational!
Great advice Griffin!!! Your story about Rob reminds me of my buddy Matt. He emailed me out of the blue last year asking if he could just come shoot for us for free, just to learn and hang around us. Dude is so passionate about filmmaking and wants to learn and create. It showed a lot of initiative on his part. Long story short, Matt is now one of my go-to dudes and we've become great friends.
Taking initiative is huge and shouldn't be overlooked. As the owner of a small production co, I place a lot more value on someone who approaches me with a great attitude, heaps of optimism and a desire to learn and get better. Can't tell you how many times I get a "Sup. I'd like to shoot for you guys". Those DM's never get a reply.
EDIT: I have this same video on my production schedule for the channel. Damn you for beating me to it :D
Really enjoyed this video and the realness you are bringing with your advice. Cheers
GRIFFIN!!! This video is worth more than so many other videos on UA-cam about what it's actually like to be a professional at this! Such a good reflection on the truths of how to get to where we all want to be. Thanks for sharing this, it's highly valuable and worth reflecting on.
Appreciate this one, Griffin! Thanks! 🙌🏾
very inspiring for a struggling filmmaker. thank you.
Incredibly helpful and encouraging video! Thanks for stepping up and leading the way with passion and vulnerability
Great perspective here. Thanks as always for the vids!
I’m just beginning my journey and this is such a valuable insight. Thank you thank you Griffin
Excellent video. Wise. Fun to see a shout out to Danny Gevirtz, whom I too learned a lot from. I can't believe that guy didn't cast me in his feature film! ;-)
Hey Griffin, a great video and a subject that needs to be covered more.
Great stuff man!
So much important information in your video. I wish I had found filmmaking when I was a young man and in good health, it would have definitely been a career path that I would have pursued. Nevertheless, I am happy doing what I can and watching good quality videos such as yours, Great job dude, love you work 👍
Great content as always! The teamwork side is one that I think is great. Early on in my career I struggled with viewing everyone as competition rather than investing in the community of creatives and recognizing how we can all help each other grow.
Love your videos! I'm a passionate FPV pilot, but located in Switzerland
Hey mate, you're awesome! I really like your work, so inspiring!
Such a great video and i somehow only saw it now!
So true that we tend to just try to grow in skill but forget about other important things. Or at least o do…
I have been thinking about this before but this just confirms that i need to invest into building a team, work with others and build relationships.
Thanks for all the input and effort you put into this!!
Incredible video bro. Even after listening live I learned more. Loved seeing all the B roll and memories from past shoots together. Thank you for all the teaching and good times!
Amazing video! This is inspiring
Thanks Griffin!
Good stuff. To the point and spot on.
Fantastic video Griffin, I think you hit the nail on the head, especially in terms of the pyramid order of components. It's true, you can be really creative but if you don't take time to learn the technical skills and professionalism needed to provide a foundation and a support for your creative ideas, it's harder to stand out and achieve those filmmaking goals. Also big shoutout Rob Trent, love that :) one of the hardest working people I know!!
Great video! This was super helpful and encouraging. If I lived near you I would want to come and work with you guys!
Great video and excellent points.
Great video!
Inspiring. Thank you.
Love it
Hello, thanks for your testimony. I'm lacking of inspiration and being rushed by the anxiety of being successful, but this video helps to calm things down and to plan the journey a little bit. Big hug from Chile and I hope we'll meet one day! Keep going
Thx great one
Great video! Do you need a 1st AD? 😄 Now THATS my department!
Thank you very much. I am personally stuck in the “what if I fail” vicious circle. I was really good at what I did before so the idea of starting over and failing is a big mental burden. Working on it
I love this video, no overproduced fanciness but just pure experience and truths. I have been looking up to you and your channel during the last year or so and maybe one day, I can be at that point where someone looks up to me and my work in the same way
Can totally relate to the sports guy becoming a "creative person"
Absolutely love this video! Might steal this concept as an artist and make a HOW TO BECOME A UA-camR | 5 KEY STEPS video someday! :) Still need some more C70 tutorials though since I'm only just getting started on that pyramid! haha More specifically, would you recommend Rode NTG5 as an on-camera mic for the C70? Or any other XLR on-camera solution for run and gun (and using Rode Wireless for 3.5mm backup at the same time?)
Nice go for it! Ntg5 is a solid choice
@@GriffinConway Really appreciate your reply! Thanks again!
Solid Pyramid of Process
super random question, but I see a lot of people shooting 144º shutter angle instead of 180º. Any particular reason? flicker?
