Amazing breakdown by an even more amazing DP! Thanks for all your help on this project, if anyone knows how to light a scene beautifully, be super professional, super fun to work with and always help us make our day it's Griffin! Also, thanks for the shoutout! 😁
you know what I love about this channel? you show us actual real world work and how you use the equipment. I see a lot of youtube channels where the youtuber talks about how to "up your game" and what you need to be successful and you can't tell if they actually do any work outside of youtube.
Great breakdown! i have a question about the audio, what was the reason you didn't (additionally) use a overhead boom mic in the middle of the subjects?
thanks for making this video, I have two person interview next month and was especially interested in your lighting set up. Whole thing looked great, but cool that you could cross lights like that and still have shape on both their faces.
Hey Griffin, thanks for the video! What I wonder about a two person interview is how you set the aperture and adjust the focus. I had it once where the focus was on one person and the other person was out of focus.
Brilliant video Griffin, and great energy! Don’t you use a long spigot in the c-stand, but the back end of the arm, or I’m I wrong? If so, what is the benefit of using the other end of the boom arm rather than a spigot in the grip? Thank you
Great to see you on here again! As always, so much good stuff to pull out of your bts tours. That set does look really nice and i don‘t think i would have picked up on how it was lit. Never seen two big lights this close in a two person shot but love the way it looks! Also the green plants are a nice detail 😊
Glad to see you here in the comments again bro! Thanks for supporting the videos after all this time. Also thanks for the kind words! I was pumped with how the light turned out.
Finally, a two person interview where both subjects are facing one camera! Been looking for a video like this for quite some time! Looks great! A big space too to help separate the subjects from the background as well as more space to separate the subjects from the camera allowing a wider lens. Would love to see something like this again in a much smaller space.
Haha ya that's what I was thinking! I haven't shown any where they face the camera. If I do another one in a small space I will try to do a video again. Thanks for watching Ryan!
Thanks Justin! It was actually already there on set when we got there but I think that would be a good addition if you have the room in your van or trailer for it!
Thanks for the video as always griffin. If you wanna cut down to one client monitor looking into getting a decimator to pass your signals through. You should be able to have a multiview with each camera on the OSSEE.
Hey Nick! Thanks for the feedback. I have a decimator but I usually just run 3 monitors anyway to have a larger monitor to view the wide shot on since that was the master/most important angle. The 15" screen is great for catching waterbottles in the background or fly-away hairs etc haha. Thanks for checking the video out!
I'm curious about the blanket in front of them? Is that to help cut down on reflective noise, or are you using it for gear to not damage the floor, or both? Thanks for the breakdown on this!
Great video as always! Btw, I would love to hear your thoughts on the R5C, either a standalone video or perhaps in comparison to the C70. After all the updates for both cameras I cannot make up my mind as to what to get.
I don't think you mentioned the white sound blanket on the floor. I suspect it's helping and I wonder if even a bit more light from below would have been more flattering here?
Hey Thomas, I knew we missed something 😂😂 nice catch. Yes I have a few of those sound blankets. On this shoot we ran the white side for just a tiny bit more fill and to help cut down on the echo. I have the sound blankets linked in one of my other interviews videos. I can’t remember the exact name at the moment though! Haha
What are your thoughts on thee 600d vs the 600x? Debating between the two but I'm having a tough time figuring out which to buy. I mainly do corporate work and dabble in commercial work (currently own a 300dii).
@@GriffinConway working with bigger crews I also found a need for ways to power multiple accessories and better rigging options and ways to secure the mount.
Thanks for watching! I don’t remember the output on the lights, but I was between using my 300d’s and 600d’s and went for the 600’s because I usually end up in the 75-85% range
First of all, thank you for the BTS🙏🏻 Quick question. I want to film interviews and talking heads for corporations and small businesses. Setup i am thinking for starters: 3 FX3s (2 on Tripods, 1 on a slider), Zoom F6 recorder with Sennheiser MKH 416s, Sennheiser ME2s lav mics as backup or main audio, 2 Aputure 600ds, 2 300ds, still no Monitor in mind (hollyland probably) Your Setup is amazing but at this point way overkill and too expensive for me. Do you recon this is enough for 2 person interviews? Or are there major flaws? (Sorry for long post😅)❤️
I think thats a great setup. I originally started with a much smaller setup and eventually over time built this up to what it is now. Seems like you have all your cameras/lighting/audio covered very well. Good luck with the interview and feel free to check out the other interview videos I have on my channel!
@@GriffinConway thanks for the quick reply. I take it very seriously and jobs are accessible to me. I am really lucky when it comes to that. I am just always paranoid about under delivering. Just watched your outside interview video where you talk about backup audio. I thought: yep, same here😂 I am already binge watching your channel👍🏻 So much insight and great advice. Keep it up!👍🏻

Thank you Ryan! Always love working with you brother
The idea of facetiming through the teleprompter is brilliant
Thanks! It was actually our Director Ryan Luth who thought of it.
Nice video - good to see you back online.
Thanks Alvin! I appreciate you checking the video out

Really appreciate you taking time while on set to actually show us real sets you are working on and give us realtime advice
Always love your BTS on shoots Griffin, lovely set up!
Thanks for checking out the video Henry!
Griffin! Missed ya, man. Love the content. You're one of the few Canon-oriented UA-camrs and probably the best. All your stuff is gold. Thank you.
Thanks so much Scott! I appreciate the kind words, and it's good to be back!

Awesome setup! I love the look you created with that spotlight on the background.
Great to see you back in action. Hope to see more videos of your work soon. Very inspirational.
Thank you! I will be having some more videos coming out again soon!
Great to have you back 🫡
Great breakdown. Those back windows provide a nice hair / edge light!
One of the 600D's have a grid and the other don't. Is it a particular reason for that?
Hey Griffin, thanks for the video!

@@BenThayorath thanks for watching Ben!
Finally a new Video bro!!! Amazing love your C70 Videos!
Great video, thanks for the walk-thru. Also, I was honestly interested in the portable make-up cart you had brought in. It looked pretty cool.
Thanks Justin! It was actually already there on set when we got there but I think that would be a good addition if you have the room in your van or trailer for it!
That lighting set up worked a treat Griffin. Did you have any issues with balancing, what appears to be, natural light coming through the windows?
Awesome breakdown as always bro!
AWESOME. Thanks so much, great insights here for my shoot.

Another great video, thank you! :) what kind of cstands do you use for booming the 600ds? Isnt that a looot of weight the stands have to handle? :)
Really good looking scheme. 🔥

It’s a white/black blanket. Kills sound reverberation and also provides a little bit of fill from underneath 🤙
@@GriffinConway Appreciate the info, love your content man!
"This is kind of a jankey setup here" Hahahaha! Such a good word, still use it as well. Your videos are top knotch man!
Looks fantastic

One of your best interview setups yet in my opinion!
I hate that the Canons don't have proper I/O to power peripherals :/
