I am legitimately SO PROUD of the boys getting that mask off. It's a DMs dream to run an encounter where the players engage with the combat in a way that's not just beating on a sack of hit points. Props to rob too for designing it and running it in such a way for them to understand it too.
"just beating on a sack of hitpoints" it what is so frustrating about videogame adaptations of tabletops like this. You haven't got any other choice 99% of the time.
Kinda feel like the dragon should have had advantage or something (even though it worked out anyway) since it seemed like Bob's attempt was negated since it didn't fully remove it. But maybe it was what allowed the grapple check in the first place. That's what I would have told Ben as a DM to make him feel better. :P

The Holy Weapon greenscreen part reminds me of the days back when Greg was still an artificer, when he tried to charm Bodger with his magic goggles. "Hey~ Bodger~"

Bob should really use the mage hand more. Just lean into the trickster bit, like undo belts or tie shoelaces together, just irritating things that should be easy to roll and succeed but still makes a difference to the fight for the party.
What great gameplay all around. Ben grabbing the mask, Adam baiting the reaction and disappearing with tides of chaos, Alan really starting to use his powerfull spells, and Rowan being a badass as usual. I loved how Rob rewarded them by taking away some of the giants spells, but in turn made the fight more interesting by making the switching uncontrollable. You can really tell this fight is quite high level and a clear warning not just to screw with dangerous enemies without a plan.
bodger is probably the most consistently powerful of the team, he can just keep dishing out solid damage in range or melee, and is a serious tank. plus his weapon is just asking for something like holy weapon

It doesn't explode when it ends due to concentration break. "As a bonus action on your turn, you can dismiss this spell and cause the weapon to emit a burst of radiance. Each creature of your choice that you can see within 30 feet of the weapon must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 4d8 radiant damage, and it is blinded for 1 minute. On a successful save, a creature takes half as much damage and isn’t blinded. At the end of each of its turns, a blinded creature can make a Constitution saving throw, ending the effect on itself on a success." Only the caster can trigger the explosion. Rob having it explode makes it better though.
If they lose because of this, they honestly should redo and refilm the rest of fight or something before uploading it. Or solve it some other way, make a God send them back in time because the God made a mistake and accidentally killed all of them in an explosion because they were irresponsible with their holy influence during the fight.

For those curious about what the actual rough calculation would be for concerting the polearm into raw energy, i got you (I love physics) Lets first assume the polearm for the giant is roughly equal to the average mass of a person. (70kg). This assumption doesn't have a lot of scientific bases, but cloud giants are VERY strong so him weilding something of that mass seems viable. E=mc2=70×300,000,000² =6,300,000,000,000,000,000 joules of energy To put that ABSURD number into perspective, that's 1.5 BILLION tons of tnt. To put THAT into perspective thats about 100,000 Hiroshima nuclear bombs. If that spear was converted into raw energy, there wouldnt be much of the planet/plane left over :) (Have fun with this information rob)

I like how Greg never gets to use the Blink effect, knowing that he shouldn’t have access to the spell in the first place (he mistakingly uses the Cleric cards for the wrong subclass). It’s like the dice gods saying: "Nope, you can’t use that spell!" Same with Modify Memory he tried to use earlier.
The weirdness makes sense when Greg uses holy weapon. As the last time he dealt with bodger and his weapon,it was back in the dead frost where he tried to "charm" it off him. As well as helped bodger learn mindless rage to resist charming. 😂😂
It think Rowan is actually connected to company property, so when Adam dropped the pen it literally causes him pain. Hence the instant scream and how he knew it happened. The DnD part of the episode was also good. 😂
I thought we'd get a green screen of everyone getting crushed by a gigantic laptop and a PUBG explosion. But cool, this was the single most tactically strategic session I think these guys have ever pulled off. Greg and Bodger even had a grandfather's hammer moment together, though they made it......weird.

I'm interested to see if rob detonates the weapon. The spell flavor text states it takes a bonus action (implying it has to be intentional) to detonate the weapon and cause the burst damage, where as dropping concentration is a free action(i think, i have to double check). On the one hand, i kinda like the idea of it being intentional or not, but on the other hand this puts a draw back on the spell that means you have to always be concentrating on it and can't ever willingly drop it or else people take damage which i don't think is intended.
