Rest in power, Chadwick Boseman and Dorothy Steel.
Dorothy മതമാ 😂
She was a badass, started acting at 88, takes courage
It is impossible for me not to start crying when T’Challa emerges later in the film and proclaims, “I never yielded! And as you can see, I am not dead!” It just hits so much more differently after his Chadwick’s passing.
Why am I not surprised Addie appreciates Shuri's dad jokes?
This movie won an Academy Award for Best Costume Design, as well as Best Original Score and Best Production Design.
It gets me every time when N’Jadaka calls Zuri “Uncle James” as he kills him.
Most people don't realize that N'Jobu was actually one of the most influential characters in the MCU. The vibranium that he helped Klaue steal was later used by Ultron in the weapon that destroyed Sokovia. The destruction of Sokovia led to both the Sokovia Accords that split the Avengers, and to the death of Zemo's family, which led to him bombing the UN facility, where King T'Chaka was killed, which gave Killmonger the opportunity he was waiting for to move against Wakanda. (Remember that Ross said he was trained to strike during transitions of power).
It's not made clear in the movie, but Killmonger's mother was locked up in prison. When we first see N'Jobu in the apartment, he's planning to break her out. Since N'Jobu was killed, the breakout never happened, and Killmonger's mother died in prison, leaving him all alone.
That one Dora whose throat was cut by Killmonger was apparently the first Dora killed in the line of duty in hundreds of years, which explains Okoye's scream of rage.
Yeah, because it couldn't be rage over the loss of a sister and friend she's probably known for nearly her entire life...
@@Linerunner99 two things CAN be true at the same time.
@@TraXlem Yeah, and if you're only going to mention one of them lead with the far better reason of the two.
@@Linerunner99 They mentioned one because the other is obvious. This isn't a hill to die on; you made a mistake, move on. Doubling down to save face in front of a bunch of internet strangers ain't it.
@@mechanomics2649 I did not make a mistake, which would be obvious if you actually paid attention. The OP stated that the death being the first Dora killed in centuries EXPLAINED her cry of rage. It did NOT. It's FAR more likely the reason was the death of her friend in front of her eyes. You're the one determined to stick your nose in here where it didn't belong. So now making it your hill is your choice. Will there be yet another reply? We wait in breathless anticipation...
This film keeps striking me in the heart. I tell this to pretty much every reactor, but before this movie came out, my grandfather passed away. I had a dream where I was wandering around in a park. I see these steps towards the sky and there was my grandfather, coming down to greet me. We embraced as I sobbed and told him how sorry I was for not being there to say goodbye. He simply smiled and told me that it doesn't matter and that he still loved me and will always watch over me. He then returned to Heaven so I would wake up with tears rolling down my face. The ancestral plane scene always makes me think of that dream.
Chadwick was a great man who truly brought Black Panther to life. I wish I could have met him along with Stan Lee. To many of us, Chadwick will always be the King of Wakanda. Rest in Peace, Chadwick, Stan and you too, Grandpa. Wakanda Forever!
That’s such a beautiful story…it really shows how much your grandfather meant to you…Also so sorry for your loss😢
@@noelleanglade1412 Thank you
You know it's well written when they have you crying for the villain's death.
We were not ready to be without you either, Chadwick. Rest in Power...
"I love the outfits!"
A highly overlooked aspect is the costuming and architecture of Wakanda. The designers pulled elements from all over Africa for Wakanda and used a mix of modern and traditional techniques in their construction. For example, Angela Basset's elaborate white hat in her introduction is pulled from traditional weaving styles, but 3D printed.
The team did win an Oscar for it so not that overlooked ;-) It's one of the aspects I love the most in this movie. The whole production design is amazing!
@@claudiaiwv7815 😅 Overlooked by most reactors and audience members.
@@LordVolkov Ha, you're absolutely right!
RIP, Chadwick Boseman. Wakanda Forever ✊
This was an emotional movie considering what was going on behind the scenes. Chadwick Boseman was already sick and hid it from everyone. This would go over into Infinity War where during interview sessions he was falling asleep and you can see fellow cast members who did not know he was sick wake him up. They all also worked well with each other. Martin Freeman and Andy Serkis had some scenes together and when they were on set the crew referred to them as the "Tolkien white guys". All the crew had great things to say about Chadwick after his death and Martin Freeman just gave an interview saying how shocked he was to learn that he was sick while they were filming and he did not find out until after his death. Amazing people got together to do BP and I cannot wait this weekend to see Wakanda Forever!
Hope to see it soon, but Hurricane Nicole might not allow it this weekend🙃
Agreed and definitely also an emotional movie on its own merit without the behind the scenes details
This movie is already emotional (plus personally with my own family stuff), but after Chadwick Boseman passing away, it's a guaranteed tear-jerker for me.
Killmonger is one of the best villains in the MCU
You know Killmonger is a great character when you cry when he dies.
He's my favorite MCU antagonist. In the end he helped T'challa change his perspective.
Killmonger's a sympathetic villain, but I dont think people talk much about his obvious flaws. He wants Wakanda's power, but doesnt actually care about the history or culture which he's happy to exploit or destroy so that he's the only one who can benefit. He'll happily break their laws and traditions, lecture the British Museum on appropriating a historical item then is happy to break the item to sell the vibranium off to weapons dealers, take a mask he knows nothing about because he's "feeling it". At the end of the day he's an american, he was born there and lived there all his life, he treats everything Wakandan/African like a tourist at best or a colonist at worse.
Sympathetic???
RIP Chadwick.. its hard to watch knowing how bad he was during the filming.. As always love the reaction Addie x
I remember watching a movie with Boseman, called 21 BRIDGES
It was about a month before hearing about his death
It was surreal
That was an excellent film
I watched that film as well. It's underrated. The difference between that role and his Black Panther role shows how good he was as an actor.
Odd coincidence: doubling 21 gives 42 - another Chadwick Boseman movie.
The timing couldn’t be more perfect!
Hey Addie...Of all of the MCU films, 'Black Panther' is my favorite. I love all of the characters, and the writing and direction by Ryan Coogler was masterful. Simply brilliant. And with all that has happened with Chadwick Boseman...this, to me, will always be Marvel at its finest!
- 11:41 - A 'Lord of the Rings' reunion indeed! 🤣🤣🤣The on-set joke about Andy Serkis (Klaue) and Martin Freeman (Ross) on set was that they were the "Tolkien White Guys".
Rest in Peace, Chadwick...King T'Challa, Black Panther...Rest in Power. Wakanda Forever!
that was the time of LOTR reunion in the MCU after Galadriel and Eomer in Ragnarok
This is one on my top Marvel films, I can never "set in stone" which one(s) are top because every watch changes things. The "white cast" were referred to as the "Tolkien white guys" because... of course the were all also in that film. :)
You were adorable as always, you emotions so open... that is why I love your reactions... even if they sort of traumatize you. Be safe, be well, and I can't wait for your next one.
RIP to Chadwick Boseman, always gon be my king
The "Hey Auntie" line by Killmonger was improvised
The young and old T'Chaka are real life father and son
Please watch "The Neverending Story".
Perfect timing for this reaction since the sequel comes out this week
Kinda wish this had more likes. It’s like she timed this whole thing out to perfection timing it to me he sequels release. Weird but very cool.
It's really sad that Chadwick Boseman has been taken from us far too soon
Oh my! Infinity War is next! Can't wait. If you're up to it, try to do it in 2 parts or at least a longer reaction vid. There are so many good parts :)
Infinity War and Endgame each need 2 parts for sure!
She's gonna have to do two parts for Infinity War and Endgame.
R.I.P Chadwick
Addie… when you do the reaction to the next movie Avenger’s: Infinity War… please do so in two parts. It’s a longer movie… and we hate to be cheated of a more fuller reaction. Thanks
Yes
Loved seeing this one in theatres. The Lion King comparison I've heard is bang-on. RIP Chadwick Boseman, the true Black Panther.
Amen! Chadwick is Black Panther. I don't think anyone can what he did for the character. Heck he was amazing in whatever he played in
I love how Tchakkas armor looked. The gold trim was BAD-ASS.
Each Black Panther, throughout history, looked different. I loved how T'Chaka wore Kente cloth over his BP armor.
This is the perfect time to bring up the classic mini series “Roots”. Journalist Alex Haley wrote the novel and initial screenplay based on the stories his Grandmother would tell him about the first African slave of their family, Kunta Kinte. The series was a national phenomenon. The entire country would shut down any time it was on the air. Bars and public events had to air it if they wanted to get any business that night. It not only was a great insight in the life of a multi generational African American family, but it sparked a fascination in family genealogy for many people. Universities would award students college credit just for watching and writing a report about Roots. As a literary major, I wanted to toss “The Great Gatsby” in the garbage after finishing the series. It about a ten hour long mini series so buckle up and bear down if you decide to watch it. It’s truly is a masterpiece!
"Lord of the Rings reunion"
Yeah, it's the two Tolkien white guys.
.
.
I'll see myself out
Loved your reaction! Make sure you've got plenty of tissues ready for what you're seeing next.
Keep up the great work Addie.
They refered the the Tolkien reunion on set as the Tolkien white guys and I love it
Forest Whitakers accent always gets me 😂😭🤣
Michael B Jordan kills every scene. You see that he’s not wrong and immediately feels sad when he dies
This was the movie that surprised me the most. Idk why I had such low expectations but this blew me away.
Great reactions to an awesome film, that is a fitting tribute to Chadwick Boseman.
I just happen to live in Chadwick’s hometown of Anderson, South Carolina. this man has done so much for the local communities & kids down here. Wakanda Forever, My King 🤴🏿🙌🔥🍻
Such a good movie in its own right and obviously RIP to Chadwick Boseman. Memorable performance and beautiful carting and world building. Now onto Infinity War which honestly Addie, you’re not ready for. So happy to have followed you through your MCU journey.
Infinity War here we come! I'm so excited for you to watch it next!
We will forever miss you Chadwick, having said I don’t know if Addie is ready yet to see Infinity War! It’s epic on a whole other level, you will shed tears!
I love this film! - I'm looking forward to seeing Black Panther 2 shortly, but with something of a tinge of sadness after the passing of Chadwick Boseman.
Killmonger is one of the best, if not THE best, Marvel villain. You can sympathize with why he is the way he is and he's right on a lot of points, but doesn't temper any of his anger with mercy or compassion or justice. The scene in the ancestral plane with his father was such a good metaphor- both of them disconnected from their community and familial roots, even in death, because they're literally still trapped in that apartment in Oakland & all the rage and bitterness they both became consumed by there.
Yes, the story was absolutely Shakespearean in scope. Without a doubt, the best that Marvel has to offer.
Not a bad comparison, historically speaking. Shakespeare was not aggressively highbrow, and was prone to good natured filth and silliness. A little something for everyone.
You must be joking? This is bottom tier MCU with Cap marvel and Wasp only being worse
@@CYB3R2Kwhat makes it a bottom tier movie?
One thing love about this movie is that Martin Freeman and Andy Serkis got to share a scene. Always nice when the Tolkien white guys get to interact. Biggest disappointment was that they couldn't fit in one line about the vibranium being "precious".
Chadwick Boseman ,
Long live the king . RIP Legend.Loved your reaction.
Black panther and Doctor strange are my favorite
Danai Gurira is such an amazing actress. I can't tell if I like her more as Okoye or Michonne from The Walking Dead lol.
The Black Panther movie has taken a lot of inspiration from South Africa.
1.Some of the clothes they wear in Wakanda is the traditional clothing in SA.
2. The music played in Shuri's lab is from SA called Gqom
3. The landscapes in Wakanda was shot at one of our national parks
4. The language they speak is Xhosa
5. The father of the black panther "T'Chaka" is a South African actor
6. The person who played the younger T'Chaka is actually the son of the guy who played T'Chaka
Angela Bassett ("Ramonda") is so beautiful...I thought so 25 years ago, and she hasn't lost a bit of it. Seeing this makes me want to watch "Strange Days" again.
CAN'T WAIT FOR INFINITY WAR!
Great reaction imagine how you are going to feel when you watch black panther Wakanda forever
Especially now that chadwick is really gone
I’m really glad you liked this and hope you continue the MCU watch into phase 4.
Martin Freeman and Andy Serkis were known as the "Tolkien White Guys" on the set of Black Panther. (In case no one mentions it.)
Martin Freeman is coming back in Secret Invasion.
Addie, you need to upload Infinity War real quick. Because it's gonna be one wild ride.
RIP Chadwick Boseman (November 29, 1976 - August 28, 2020), aged 43
You will always be remembered as a legend.
Wakanda Forever!
5:33. Andy Serkis. (Ulysses Claw/Avengers: Age of Ultron- Smeagol/Gollum)
Infinity War Hype! I hope it won't be long until we see it
Avengers infinity war movie ❤️
I enjoyed watching this reaction and your appreciation of this complex story.
Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, Angela Bassett, Lupita Nyong’o, Letitia Wright & Daniel Kaluuya. Marvel has some of the best black actors
Yes, a LotR reunion.
There was a wonderfully subtle joke laid in here. Too often in ‘white’ movies there was a token ‘black’ guy. In this movie that celebrates black culture there were a couple of Tolkien white guys.
The heart shape herb is basically super soldier serum. And the suit is more advanced than any of Tony's suit's. So basically he's Captain America and Ironman combined.
Seeing Chadwick Bozeman in the astral plane…😢 every single time. RIP!!! 👑
Didn't got to see him again after black panther 😢 , rip Chadwick boseman
RIP Chadwick Boseman & Stan Lee.
WAKANDA FOREVER & EXCELSIOR 😭😭😭😭.
Wakanda Forever
Only one voice saying that will hit you right in the heart
Thank you, Chadwick Boseman
🌹
Addie is already crying I don’t know what will happen to her when she watches the next film Avengers Infinity War, prayers 😭
I gotta admit that this is my favourite marvel movie from 2018. I watched it in the cinema when I was 13 and I loved the characters wakanda its self and all of the fantasy in it.
Let's be honest Addie - it's the hair. Beautiful shining red locks. What's your ancestory? British Isles? You sound really American so maybe 5th generation?
Next is Infinity War.
I swear it's become a ritual for me to watch a Marvel film and have a good cry lol. I hope you plan to watch the Disney + shows as well...they play into the greater story.
Love your reactions Keep them coming.
As Cinema Therapy says, "How many other movies can you name where the villain convinces the hero that the villain is right?"
Yeah, Killmonger had some bad ideas about HOW to go about it, but the general idea that Wakanda's isolationism has outlived its usefulness is the entire point of the film. That's a very rare thing, that the villain is actually the one who is more correct than the hero. Not right, but correct.
I love the Jabari. Apes in general, and gorillas in particular, are just amazing animals, and I love how the Jabari draw on them. They play up the Killer Gorilla stereotype to intimidate their enemies, and gorillas are indeed huge, powerful animals that can be incredibly dangerous if provoked, and the Jabari are extremely deadly warriors. Yet gorillas are also very intelligent, gentle, social animals, and when you approach the Jabari with caution and respect, you see that side of them as well. Just great.
The coincidence!! You posting the reaction 2 days before the sequel release in theaters!!!
3 days if you're not counting the early viewing day.
Hard to believe it was a coincidence. She's probably actually just really smart and planned ahead!
One day if you count earlier release dates outside the US. Like over here. :P
@@gamerbear84 and here!
Wow you managed the timing of this video very well. Doing raction just before release of BP2 when people's hype for BP is at its peak, and that too without skipping any movies and in organic fashion. Well done.
Ryan Coogler is a great director. The kid at the end was the same kid who played "Little," in _Moonlight_ (also directed by Coogler). If you haven't seen it, it's an AMAZING film that won best picture in 2017. Would make for a great reaction!
I completely agree with everything you said...but Moonlight was directed by Barry Jenkins. It really does need more reactions, I think I've only ever seen two people react to it!
@@Melancthon7332 You're right! I was thinking of _Fruitvale Station_ where he worked with Michael B. Jordan.
After watching episode 2 of Secret Invasion with that scene between Fury and Rhodey and with Killmonger wanting to arm people all over the world who look like them. When Rhodey tells Fury, "The reason we took that power from mediocre men who don't look like us wasn't to turn around and hand it to mediocre men who do." Just kind of resonated with me and with what Killmonger wants to do
Im late as working earlier , apologies. Great reaction...thanks 😊 🙏
Late but I’m so glad you finally got to this one, you reaction to this is very timely too. It’s a really great movie to be sure and I’m excited for you to eventually react to the latest one 😊.
I'm glad that you also enjoyed this.
my only- and i do mean ONLY- problem with this movie is that they turned Killmonger into "evil black panther" for the third act by giving him the herb and a suit, and by the time this came out i was so tired of a superhero's first solo movie pitting them against someone with the same powers. at least he was written well to contrast T'Challa's mentality and morals.
1. Captain America: Winter Soldier
2. Black Panther
3. Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings
4. Captain America: Civil War
5. Thor Ragnarok
Addie!!!!! You are fricken' awesome! Great reaction as usual. Looking forward to your continuing journey through the MCU
Damn...that sounded lame. All "I look forward to your journey derpy derpy derp!!!"
Bless your heart.
I love Addie 😘😘×100000000
Rip Chadwick boseman 🙏 loved this movie!
I love seeing you nerd out about things.
WAKANDA FOREVER!!!
Nice reaction, Addie. Black Panther is another awesome entry in the MCU. RIP, Chadwick Boseman. His peformance as T'Challa was very well done. Next up, Avengers: Infinity War, that one's gonna be intense and awesome at so many levels and it's the first movie to be shot entirely with IMAX cameras, particularly with ARRI Alexa 65 IMAX cameras. Make sure you have the tissues ready for the next one. Wakanda Forever.
i hope one day you will watch Devil's Advocate with Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves ...
RIP KING❤
"I'm gonna get tissues on my desk."
Well... I can say that is a good idea. Maybe... get some more.
Time For Black panther 2 RIP Chadwick Boseman Thank You For Everything Rest Well 🙏
Kinda appropriate that you reached this film with Wakanda Forever coming out this week. Though at the very least, you'll have to watch Infinity War and Endgame before Wakanda Forever, if only to avoid any kind of spoilers Wakanda Forever may contrain for those movies.
For me, the saddest line in the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn't (spoiler), or (spoiler), or even (spoiler).
For me, it is "Can you believe that? A kid walkin around Oakland believing in fairy tales."
It's the self recrimination of a broken dream, and that hurts more than all the (spoiler) in half the (spoiler).
either that or he might be your father but he wasn't your daddy.....
It's very sad that Chadwick Boseman never truly was able to show his true talents. This movie showed that promise, but it was never fulfilled. You should do Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, which starred Denzel Washington, who directed it as well. This was Chadwick Boseman's last performance and he was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar.
