Episode 1: Cousin Stuff
Garak?
Is that you?
Guess Georgia is safe forever 😊
Alabama’s extra safe.
Addie: "Okay, this is going to be a violent show. I should have expected that."
Also Addie: "Kill him! Kill him! KILL HIM WITH THE SHOVEL!"
HAHAHA I got into it quickly
@@AddieCounts In that case, you might really enjoy the game . . .
I've only seen her reactions to Pixar and Rocky... I was surprised to see she was all about the double tap on the husband.
This is going to be an excellent reaction!
Too bad "She steals dads" didn't make the cut. That line gets me every time.
I bet the blood-stained bride's dress with bandolier and Pip-boy is going to be a popular costume for Halloween or cosplay conventions.
Honestly I’m surprised no one has done that yet. At least as far as I’m aware.
Barefoot, bloodied wedding dress, tranq-belt & gun... She looked beautifully badass (and not the only time she does in the show).
I think the show did generally a really good job with its characters and their portrayal. It's just always so enjoyable to watch them.
I had to change plans for Halloween costumes this year because of this show. Couldn't not go as the ghoul after seeing how badass he is.
There was a similar costume in Ready Or Not (2019), though that is not as well known as Fallout.
@@ChrisVZ77 I came to say exactly the same thing, this whole show's just a goldmine waiting for this year's Halloween. Vault suits will be the other big one I think.
You might have thought of it already, but if you're going with a Ghoul costume you could paint your nose black to make it clearer - otherwise it's an outfit that could be confused with other Westerns by people unfamiliar with _Fallout_
Somehow we knew Addie was soul sisters with Lucy. Okey-Dokey!!!
Right!? I can picture Addie saying "Okey-Dokey" but I have a much harder time picturing her swearing.
Its OKIE DOKIE ..
@@StayFractalesque Okey dokie
@@magicbrownie1357 ..grrrr
Came here to say something along those lines. Your reaction to this being a violent show is almost how I'd expect a vault dweller to react.
I don't know why Addie starting up this series made me so giddie.
I half expected you to, instead, say 'gladdie', hahah.
The Ghoul is a ghoul, someone irradiated by the bombs and given powers of regeneration (including extended lifespan) but at the cost of their appearance and a slow mental degeneration.
Everyone at the birthday party were taking pictures when the first bomb dropped, so the flash of the bomb was hidden among the flashbulbs. I really liked that detail.
This show portrays the vault dweller so well, so often in the games you're thrown into insane situations and you're kind of just like "ok, I guess we're doing this!" And then have to deal with the consequences.
Deal with the Fallout of your actions.😅
The games in general. It's a really good adaptation.
The line "Is it Your thumb, or Mine?" Always gets me.
Reacting… reacting never changes.
Fun Fact In the interview Walton Goggins the guy who plays the Ghoul in this show tells a story about he actually took a nap while he's wearing the prostheitic make up on then he'a woke up he dosen't remember of taking a nap and he look at the mirror and scared the sh*t out at himself lol
Lol. Everybody laments the pickles!
Let the Fallout begin, Addie.
Fallout is a mixture of dark humor, slapstick cartoon comedy and a weird sort of post-apocalyptic optimism all mixed into one. The world is so over-the-top in everything that it makes a world-ending apocalypse look like fun - and it is!
Probably worth mentioning the fairly hefty splash of satire in the games' sense of humour as well, but otherwise I agree with your assessment!
The shot she gave herself after being stabbed is called a stimpak. It's health in the game. That's how the ghoul revived the dog. The device on her wrist is called a pip-boy. It's a main part of the game.
My friend and I were watching these together a couple weeks ago and she asked what was in the Stimpak.
Hitpoints, my dear. The Stimpak contains hitpoints.
This show is the best one I've seen this year. You won't be disappointed by the ending.
Keep that coffee hot, Addie . . .
(I love that song!)
After all, Lucy's father does like a damn fine coffee..
bit of background lore:
in this world, technology diverged after World War 2 so instead of microprocessors we developed fusion technology. this somehow led to things like robots being made, while other things such as cell phones don't exist. american culture also stagnated after the 50's resulting in a sort of "retro fiture" aesthetic. the first scene took place in the year 2077, meaning the main show is around the year 2296
No one cares.
@@WheresWaldo05 what a scumbag.
@@WheresWaldo05 yo mama cared about it last night then we talked in the bed.
@@WheresWaldo05I’ve seen a LOT of reaction videos where people have been confused and curious about the timeline, so the claim that ‘no one cares’ is pretty blatantly wrong.
YOU don’t care, and that’s fine, but you don’t speak for everyone.
@@WheresWaldo05 you apparently cared enough to reply. coulda just ignored it
This show nails the tone of the games with its dark humor. Probably the best video game adaptation ever made.
Pfffftt.. bwhaahhahahaha
Completely agree! The pitch black comedy stuff is right out of FO1-2 which I was so happy to see! I was so happy with how this series turned out. :)
"Probably the best video game adaptation ever made."? No way. That honour goes to The Last of Us.
@@RealityDysfunction It's great that there's been enough great shows based on games that this is even a debate. :)
@@BRUXXUS ..uh, yeah, i guess, but this show isnt one of the contenders.. i honestly dont trust anyone who says this show is great, because its not even good.. ..i get if youre a react content type channel and wanna get in good with the producers, then sure, its the greastest video game adaptation of all time.. ..anyone with a brain, would have the balls to call this show for what it is.. adaptation by commitee of folks whove never played a video game in their life..
Can't wait for the other episodes
I love how goofy this show is. Really shares similar tones to the game
Based on all the "oh gosh!" and "that is so bloody!" in this video, I think it's safe to assume Addie would also be a Vault Dweller 😂
The bear creature is called a Yao guai (from Chinese for monster/demon - typically spirits of animals). It is a mutated Americal Black bear. A frightening wildlife encounter in the games.
my D&D group was fighting winged versions of those while climbing a big chain to a cloud castle.
But you can just call it Yogi Bear.
I'm so glad you're doing Fallout, its the best thing Ive watched in a long time. You're gonna love it.
It’s so fun to see someone who hasn’t played the games react. There’s a lot of Easter eggs you wouldn’t understand that the video game players will notice. Great reaction.
NGL, I kinda wanted the Overseer to say, "The spice must flow." when he locked Lucy in the closet.
I liked it, but im a old nerd that played 1,2,3,NV and 4
Nothing wrong with that! -A fellow old nerd.
Same ,!
@@magicbrownie1357 well true! but most now know fallout from 3 and on 😀
@@CuddleBuddee 👍 I stille play 2
Count me into the "old nerd" group.
the Game Franchise is known for the very dark humor and gore, that and all other stuff you will see, its pretty accurate to the games. This show respects the source material on very high level
You know it's a good adaptation when when as a fan I hear "I've never played the video games" I get super excited (one of us, one of us...)
As a fan of the games who loved the show, I'm really glad the algorithm put your video my way.
Seeing a new fan get so invested, and so brilliantly excited was great! Keen to watch you follow this series through.
Great reaction like always love the "Please Remain Calm" because these standard turrets can't hit shit, even if a target stands still. It's a meme from the games. The name of the Bear thing is a "Yao Gui" A lot of the songs you are hearing, are actual songs that play in the game. It's a real treat for us that adore the game. The knight turning out to be a freaked out and cowardly Michael Rappaport had me cracking up. That last weapon that lucy cut the doctor's head is the ripper from the games lol
So a bit of non-spoiler-y background information that doesn't really get explained in the show: The Fallout world basically diverges from ours in the 1940s. Transistor-based technology (specifically micro-transistors, the things that make computers and any compact advanced electronics possible) is never invented. This is why everything is big and chunky and looks like it was designed in the 50s. Instead nuclear technology advances rapidly and becomes part of many everyday household items (the cars, for example, are all nuclear powered). This is why everything has a 1950s retro sci-fi look (and because it evokes that weird 1950s vintage optimism mixed with the ever present threat of nuclear war).
Lucy is modelled on a prototypical player character from the franchise. In many of the games you start out as a vault dweller who has to venture to the surface for one plot contrivance or another (in the very first game it was because the water purification system was broken and you had to go find a part, so the show did a bit of a nod to that). The montage of her explaining her skills is kind of like the character setup where you choose your stats and skills.
The syringes you see in the show are Stim-paks which are the game's major source of healing. This is one thing that I like in the show. It treats itself like it is the game. When you use a Stim-pak in the game, it heals every thing instantly. Even broken bones. Thus, when you see the Ghoul use it on the dog who is on on death's doorstep, the dog instantly gets up and is 100% healed.
The Brotherhood of Steel is a faction that was born out of remnants of the US military based around a pseudo-religious, militaristic tech cult. That's probably kind of obvious given their organization, but there is a direct connection back to the pre-war era, and most of their tech is ex-military from that era, just salvaged and maintained. Depending on the game/location (the games are set in several different locations around the US, with the originals set on the west coast, and the newer games on the east coast, and New Vegas set in, well, Vegas) they can range from fascistic antagonists to chivalric allies depending on the chapter. Much like the medieval knights they're based on.
The other big faction to get a mention in this episode was The Enclave. Where the BoS are remnants of the US military, The Enclave are the remnants of the US government along with anyone else they deemed worthy of surviving the apocalypse - the best and brightest of science and industry. They're a tad... elitist, as you can probably imagine, looking down on most of the other survivors, and preferring to interact and manipulate events from the shadows or a distance. Unlike the BoS who focus on collecting and preserving old world tech, The Enclave continued to innovate and advance. Stimpaks, the thing Lucy injects herself with, are the main healing item in the game. So you'll see a bit of video game logic here where a shot will cure any basic wound. And unlike a bunch of other video game adaptations, this show is actually considered canon within the same world as the games. So that's just kinda neat. Keep up the good work.
One thing everyone seems to overlook it how good that child actress who played Janey was. Her reaction and expressions when the bomb dropped was heartbreaking.
Now you know why so many people love the games. It's all there in the show; the absurdity, the dark humor, the gore and violence, the lore and characters. I love too how the show leaned hard into the game and its mechanics without apology. They didn't make the mistake of trying to make it "more realistic". Stimpacks just work, power armor just functions, and ghouls just exist, no explanation required.
The depiction of "Power Armor" in this show makes me believe they could make a PROPER "Warhammer 40K" show without Astartes-style armor looking ridiculous. DO IT, AMAZON, I DARE YOU
Let the Fallout journey begin. We're in for a wild ride.
This show has something that's been missing in media in the last decade or so: rewatchability! I've seen it twice and will likely see it again before the year is out, lol.
That's the key to a good show and story. Its re-watchability. Like "Lost", "24", "E.R", "Prison Break", "GoT", "Breaking Bad", "The Naked Gun" trilogy, etc.
"And Guest Starring Michael Rapaport as Himself"
This series is a lot of fun, in a gruesome, dark but sometimes unbelievably sweet way xD I'm glad you're reacting to this Addie.
The gore....the slowmotion shots with very 'splodey results is from a game mechanic allowing more precise powerful/damaging shots. Similarly for the stimpacks/healing kits giving immediate effects. (And the dog is a companion who you regularly have to heal, in the games...so that was a sort of nod too),. Oh, and the turrets are notoriously inaccurate xD
I'm looking forward to watching this through again on this channel, have a great week
the music did it for me, songs from the game, new songs that fit perfectly, the whole musical tone was just like the game, even the homage to minutemen radio was good
This is super fun to watch your reaction knowing that you're basically completely blind to the games! Even fans of the games didn't know what to expect because each one is a different protagonist's story. They all have common themes and world, but each game is about different people. So it's such a cool universe for a show like this. Across the many years of games, from way back in the 90's I think they absolutely nailed it!
One ghoul a day keeps the doctor away.
Addie- just so you know, the plot of the show in different than the games. The show is considered canon along with the games- having played the games before would have only meant you would recognize major groups like vault tek, the brotherhood of steel, many of the items, etc. Lucy, Maximus, and the ghoul are all new characters.
Yay Addie watching Fall out. in my mind Addie is really similar to this character
Just so you know, the tv show is canon with the games. I hope you like it.
Also, in the timeline of Fallout. The show takes place after all of the games.
Game - Year it’s set in.
Fallout 76 - 2102-2104
Fallout - 2161
Fallout 2 - 2241
Fallout 3 - 2277
Fallout New Vegas - 2281
Fallout 4 - 2287
Fallout TV show - 2296-2297
Even us that know the games don’t know what to expect from the story of the TV show.
FYI, The series has its own, original story. It's in the same universe as the games, so the story events of the games have happened here as well, but the series has its own stuff story - wise.
So happy you decided to watch this. ❤
I love how this show has become hit with both fan & non-fans of the games! 😁
Even for those of us who have played any of the various games, we were instantly invested.
Great reaction. Looking forward to your remaining reactions to episodes 3-8.
Love how you're so invested in the show, especially with the gore...it's a lot lol
Addie and Fallout?? Yes, please. I expect a few Addie Karate Chops with this show.
Honestly one of the best shows I've seen in a long time and your reactions as always are priceless, can't wait for the rest of the series
Looks like someone did not watch Silo or Squid game.
"I can tell this is going to be a lot fun!" :)
*puppy gets incinerated* D:
Love your reactions as always! Also, Thanks for understanding Maximus's decision with letting titus bite it. Dude was going to have him killed had he survived not mention he treated maximus as expendable instead of a comrade in arms. Hope you keep the open mind for the rest of the season! 🤙🏾
Maximus saw that Titus was a coward and Titus would have killed him to eliminate the witness. It's just that Titus was too stupid to wait for Maximus to treat him first. He was too used to the squires being brainwashed automatons who would never ever consider disobeying a knight.
I am honestly 100% behind Maximus in his decision. Titus was a coward and malicious and actually threating someone whom his live depends on is dumb enough to gain him the Darwin award.

Parts of the Wasteland were filmed on real locations like that abandoned mining town in Namibia. Sand-filled houses.
I am hyped to watch Addie react because she definitely reminds me of Lucy
"Isn't it great!?"
This is 100% Jinx lol
19:48 "why do I feel he's gonna put a human brain in this dog" you sure you haven't played the games? 😉
Its the column of the mushroom cloud not the base level explosion with the thumb thing I believe.
In episode 2, Titus is fighting a yao guai, a mutated bear.
What a great reaction!! You're so excited and it's contagious. lol.. Cant wait to see more!
Just a heads up - this series is a completely original story with characters that haven’t been seen in the games. Chronologically, it takes place after Fallout 4, the most recent game in the series. Also, each game is it’s own self-contained story that takes place somewhere in the US, meaning that there are no direct sequels. There’s lore to the world, but you don’t have to worry about not understanding a continuous story, which is never the case.
I've heard some suggest that the three main characters are based on different play styles for the games:
Lucy is the new player who tries to be good and clean cut and takes the most conventionally good choices
Maximus is more seasoned and open to making more morally grey choices
The Ghoul has seen it all and likes to just go nuts and raise hell to achieve his goals
Come to think of it, I think you could find mindsets like this in visitors to Westworld as well, that Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy also co-created
I'm glad to see you're hooked! I've played Fallout 3, Fallout 4 (my favorite), and Fallout: New Vegas. There are TONS of things from the games that show up in this series . . .
FO4 is my fave too. Played it 6 times. FO3 twice, and FNV once. Looking forward to "Fallout: London".
Welcome to the wasteland! happy to see you embark on this journey!
Great Reaction to the best show this year! Thanks from Sweden.
You're in for a roller coaster of a show. Wild
Playing the video game would give you background on the lore and history. You'd know some of the groups mentioned, like The Enclave and Brotherhood of Steel, but all of the games and the TV show take place as different times in the same universe, so none of this is a retelling of anything seen in the games other than historical events.
The Game of Thrones "Red Wedding" has nothing on Lucy's wedding! 😁
Welcome to 2077 and its alternate timeline. Lucy is basically the new player in the game sense, and you will notice throughout the show her Okey-Dokey changes tone. This show was so good it made me download Fallout 3 to play.
I loved this reaction so much I had to go join the Patreon :D Thanks Addie, cant wait to watch the rest of the show with you!
Saw this channel because of fallout and subbed real quick. Great reaction love the energy 😊
At 29:45 another one of my favorite UA-camrs said "We had a character with two legs and a dog. Now most of that is gone". lol... I had to share. One of the funniest things I've ever heard.
This will be fun. I'm a big fan of the whole franchise. Hundreds of hours in game and I really enjoyed the show. I hope you do too.
You should play some of the games. There are so many little details and references to them in this series. From things like the perfect sound the stimpack (the needle like health pack) to the YuGui( the mutatated bear) and the look of the power armour suit, to the barman(the two headed cow). It improves the viewing pleasure with all the WOW! IT'S A....... Moments. It's one of the best game to series adaptations, up there with the last of us series.
Addie you would rock in a Vault Dweller suit. Grand idea.
Holy moly this is gonna be a fun watch
So glad you're doing this show ✌️
This is my favorite show of the past couple years. Perfect mix of bloody mess and very funny.
Twisted metal did it better. And so did Silo. Like way better.
@@WheresWaldo05 Cool, I will have to check those out. I have heard of Silo but Twisted Metal is new to me.
Videogames, plural. There's like 5 full sized single player games and some other Fallout titles.
Not sure if you've seen Arcane yet (if not then you really should), but Ella Purnell, who plays Lucy, is voicing Jinx / Powder in that show.
Btw the intro starts in the 2070s. It's a parallel universe where they didn't develop the transistor when we did, so they didn't go through the whole miniaturization of electronics, hence the general 1950s vibe. They did however make big progress in nuclear tech and robotics. The robot you saw in the intro for a brief moment, all the cars, or even the exo suits are all powered by tiny nuclear reactors.
If you have some general lore questions, ask away. It doesn't really affect the show story (as in spoilers), which was all new to the players too and a lot of things are not directly explained but more through visual storytelling. So generally you have to pay good attention to things and then extrapolate some of your thoughts.
You get points for suggesting that we stab Monty a few more times. 😆
Welcome to our world of Fallout.
I am so excited to join you on this one!
Everyone's worried about the pickles...ever thought about how much it must hurt getting your messed up face drowned in that salty vinegary soup? Ouchie...
Glad you're watching this show! As a fan of the series, I was just hoping they didn't butcher the show & tried to do the franchise justice. I did not expect it would be as good as it is & that everyone, fans & non-fans, would enjoy it this much! Enjoy the ride, Addie!
Seriously, I'd never even played the games, but the trailer hooked me hard even just as a new piece of sci-fi media, and although I haven't finished the series yet (watching it with my brother a few eps at a time) I haven't been this impressed by a new TV show since the first series of _Game of Thrones._ I hope _Fallout_ is with us for the long haul
Had a blast watching this!!🔥🔥🖤
In game terms, Cooper The Ghoul has a Bloody Mess perk which lets him do more damage and tends to explode corpses that he just killed. Lucy has a very high Luck stat (she survived her first day on the surface and found the one thing that everyone in California seems to be looking for) but has a lousy Speech stat.
I watched a lot of reactions to the first episode and Addie is the only one who suggested that Lucy stab Monty a few more times to make sure. :)
Addie, I think you'd fit well in a vault. Except you would probably risk the surface because of a rule they have that you'll learn about later.

As a fan of the games I love this show.
I played Fallout 1 & 2 when they came out and I absolutely loved them. I still play them to this day, so I suppose I'm in the category as a fanboy. I think Lucy is absolutely nailing it and I had a blast watching the first season of this. You should try the games one day, Addie! Have fun on the rest of this season!
33:22 That is called a Ripper and it’s used as a weapon in the games.
I love when people watch this who have never played the game! You'll love it~ You should try playing Fallout 4 or New Vegas if you like the show. 4 is set in Boston.
Fallout 3 is the best overall game.
They truly got the "feel" of the game down perfect. Having not played, you will miss many Easter Eggs (and probably guess many), but you'll get a bunch of stuff out of it anyway. Look forward to your path to becoming a Vault Dweller.
Lots of back story coming your way!
Fallout is a good game to movie adaptation. And so is Sonic the Hedgehog 1 & 2. I can't recommend them enough.
