This guy is an incredible player, but it would be great if you guys got one of your jazz endorsers to sit down with this kit. Jimmy Cobb or Carl Allen, someone like that. This kit sounds great, and it would be really cool to hear one of them swing with it.
Agree.
Yes Please ! Sell more kits that way !
AS SOON as PDP releases the 20" version, I'm buying Immediately
i was just looking to see if it was a 20 lol
From 0:52 on, I don't know if this is an after effect of playing drums too long but I hear his dialogue as part of the background groove LOL
Ya his voice is in synch with his playing
I just picked up this kit for club gigs. My Classic Maples are just too big for most local clubs. I love this kit! The bass drum is big when tuned down and they overall have a great range. Best bop kit for the money in my opinion.
Travis Woodall what kind of music?
@@williamperri3437 They stay in tune super well for me!
I'm thinking about changing my PDP Exotic Walnut for these. I just love how compact they are :D
@@williamperri3437 I have had that issue somewhat. Wood hoops on any kit will likely do that. Wood just expands and contracts more. The knock for me is the hardware is definitely lower end. I keep my drums in a room at 66-70 degrees and 50% humidity at all times and the hardware still pitted on them.
@@traviswoodall6547 Still have them
Other feedback ?
Sounds huge and warm for small shells. Guess those wood hoops help. Attractive colours too. I'm tempted!
I am still in shock with these drums after two years of having them. Adding more sizes to my kit this week. Unreal sound for the price. It's now my go to gigging kit. Stoked. 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Thank you.
Hi Any follow up? 🆘
Just bought these may 2018.
They are like little cannons.
First dw pdp maple kit. love this kit
Hey Bill, I have had these for over a year now. I've pretty much used them exclusively for a weekly jazz gig at a local restaurant. So they have been moved in and out of the car a bunch in some pretty extreme temps. (living in Canada) The kick has generally been issue free with tuning but the toms have been a different story. I found myself tuning A LOT with the calftones I put on them...probably just the nature of the the thin skins? Eventually I put coated emperors on them with some gels... far less tweaking now.
Interesting comments about the tuning. These would just be staying in my room & likely not moved much. That'd be annoying if they'd have to be tuned before each session. These seem to be the right choice for me over the Gretsch (only slightly) but I'm not sure if this would be a deal breaker.
@@williamperri3437 If I do, I'll make sure to leave a comment! I'm a novice that has full-sized "Exports" that take up too much room (unfortunately) so that's why I'm looking at 18" bass drum packs. I love the price of Stage Customs but I'd much prefer warmer shells. I'm going for more of a "rock" sound, I guess, over a tightly tuned "bop" one.
I just bought them. They are fantastic. So many colors available with the wood hoops in sounds and the heads are perfect. I like these better than my Ludwig and I am a Ludwig snob.
Follow up?
This will be my next drum set purchase to match my PDP CM5. Hands down. Cannot wait to finally bring these home.
Oooo, I want! These would be great for my jazz combo.
ShartimusPrime SHARTIMUS!!!!!!!
Would it be possible to mount the tom off the cymbal stand so the 18inch bass drum is virgin?
Yes. 😃
They sound great. Don't really like a wooden hoop on the snare, but overall I'd totally play it.
I have the maple shell, maple hoops tube lug snare they make. Killer drum!! Tuned down, warm and fat. Tuned up, crisp and cutting. Very versatile.
can I use it for any kind of music? I mean mostly pop music?.. I see it as a very portable kit and I would like to buy it to play in small gigs.😉
Of course.
I'm get this ser but with 22" bass 16" floor tom and 13" rack tom and I'm going to put evans g2s on it and use the kit for heavy rock
I've seen this kit before in Guitar center. And all i can say its sounds cool.
Finally pulled the trigger on these! Hoping to gig soon :)
Anyone out there use these for more than just jazz??
I just played a gospel/contemporary worship night with them. They did great!
I'm planning on using them for 'rock'. I just need bop sizing.
Follow up 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Omg I love these drums, I could go as big as a 26 or as small as 18, best drums I've ever come across
😃
This kit is sexy. Buying it as soon as it hits musicians friend.
DW makes a phenomenal product. I have my eye on a custom kit at the moment. Never heard a kit like them in my life!!!!!
beautiful tone
Just bought this same kit Saturday. I switched the batter heads on the toms to Remo coated Ambassadors, but kept the stock reso heads for now. I put an Evans EMAD batter head on the bass drum with the smaller foam ring on it. My bass drum had two dampening pillows already mounted inside each head. Didn't know PDP did that with this set. I might still change the reso heads on the toms to hazy Diplomats, but for now I really like the sound of this kit. The stock heads weren't doing it for me. Great little kit that takes up little space but has a big sound. It can cover most any genre of music.
Thanks
What snare ???
@@MrBluoct Old 5 line C.O.B. Rogers Dynasonic.
@@davidcudlip6587 interesting…
Considering this kit or the Gretsch Renown maple 18-12-14
????????
@@MrBluoct I have a Gretsch Renown Maple 22-16- 12-10. Love it for rock. Different beast then the PDP bop kit.
That's the best sounding set of drums I've ever heard, amazing.
Thank you
I’m a 63 years drumming and yes they are. The first time you sit down and play them it’s “wow, where have you been all my life?”
DW drums, is it possible to buy replacement hoops/claws/rods on their own in the UK please? If so, where?
Yes. You will need to contact one of our dealers and they can guide you. locator.dwdrums.com/drum/cgi/index?mapid=intl#United%20Kingdom
Man you could totally use for more than just jazz. I dig it.
For anything really.
Even the bop kit for playing Led Zep!
What kind of music Genre with these drums favor?
I bought the 26 kick kit AND the bop kit, then got the 18" floor tom, the matching snare, then the 10x6 black wax snare, the Eric Hernandez 14x4 signature snare thiccolo, and the DW collectors Black Nickel over Brass with 24k gold tube lugs and the 1928 flower engraving by John Aldridge done for Memphis Drum Shops anniversary a few years ago. I'll post a link to all this with my K darks and Avantone mic kit in studio with a local/touring session drummer here in the Muscle Shoals area.

In this video at Mystery Sound Studio, the 26" kick batter is a super kick 2, ported stock reso, stock coated powerstroke 3s, the engraved Black Beauty tribute DW collectors snare has an Evans hybrid head for added mass to drop pitch and make it super punchy (those ghost notes are beautiful). I'm not the drummer. Just the owner/tuning tech. I started the Shoals Drum Guild on FB.
Love all these products, and I'd genuinely love a real endorsement from the Concept line. Maybe even a job in R&D and design. I tell a LOT of drummers about the concept series stuff
The toms in the video are the bop kit toms paired with the 26". Tuned super low to match the shell frequency for the biggest roundest smoothest sound they could get, which because of your ply staggering magic, makes them sound like a 14 and 16. If theres a way you could even just gift me the remaining bass drum sizes 20, 22, and 24 in ox blood and ebony, I would be eternally grateful. I genuinely am firm believer in this product line and really do tell a TON of drummers about this kit in obsessive fashion constantly. Its insane how professionally it holds up in a studio in an area with huge demands for quality. The purple couch in this video is the same one Prince was farting on decades ago at FAME records up the street. Literally. Lolol
Not kidding, all videos that i have seen with this kit it sounds huge. Not only the ones made by endorsers, the ones made by random people are still awesome too.
Those coated drums heads seems to work really nice, brings the dynamics and makes a more "warm/mellow" sound.
Ei DW eu quero esta bateria, me de por favor? Nada mais do que isso. Igualzinha, please?!
Great sounding drums
Just found out last night he played with the Mars Volta. I want this kit
Amazing
I've been trying to find this exact kit but can't find them anywhere...I have a walnut with a 26
Hey there.
The part number for this kit is PDCC1803WN.
You can order this from any authorized retailer.
These will be back in stock in early August.
Thanks for the inquiry.
Would I be able to fit metal hoops on these if I needed to swap?
Yes but you would need to get new tension rods
No I don't know. Those hoops stick up a lot higher than metal hoops - changing the playing(STROKING) angle. Yeah! You just pick it up and your "good to go!"
man those sound great
These sound better than the Craviottos similarly configured with calf heads!
Only two finishes?
We offer Natural, Walnut, Oxblood and Ebony
Why not the STM mount?
Kristian West i think they're trying to go for a vintage style, and vintage mounts attach directly to the shell. Regardless, i wish it came with the STM :/
linda😍😍
Fucking rad!
i desire listen this drum with high tuning, no rock tuning, please.
got to get a set
