Not gonna lie, I did Arbonne for a little less than a year (because I suck at saying no and placing boundaries, and fear upsetting people) and I legit made like 40 dollars the entire time, and most if it was from my own purchases lol. I knew I wanted to leave when we went to these “host parties” and everyone acted like they knew me and loved me. It felt like a cult and I was scared.
I joined 3 days ago and I left today. Fuck this. It really did feel like a cult!

I was part of Arbonne and that was the worse thing I could have done because I lost 4,000$ and anytime I’d post something that was my opinion my “upline “ would tell me to take it down because I shared some negative thoughts on something and she would say that I can’t share the negative because she doesn’t want people to think that there is negative thoughts to it. They took advantage of me because I’m a person with a disability and mental illnesses so I quit

What absolutely kills me about their argument of “well a corporate job is a pyramid scheme and is making the CEO a lot of money!!” Is like... they’re so close to self awareness/having a point. Like yeah! Fight the rich! Demand what you deserve! But they don’t realize they’re inherently buying into the capitalist scheme they’re arguing against.... I.E. profiting off your down line.

My sister is in Arbonne. She is 45 years old, lives at home with our parents. My mom and Dad fully support her and her children. She is at the second highest level at Arbonne (Vice President) and drives a beautiful white Mercedes. She had to trade in her PAID OFF SUV and pay a $4000 deposit for a 2 year LEASE! Mercedes are expensive and so is the insurance and repairs. Arbonne gives her a $600 stipend and she pays the rest (and that is ONLY if she makes enough sales). Her paid off vehicle and deposit are gone. It is insane to me how my sis portrays her luxurious life on Instagram with her beautiful Mercedes and rich lifestyle. When in reality she is poor, homeless and living off our parents. It's the fakest shit. Oh and her best friend is also in Arbonne. She had gastric bypass surgery a few years ago and lost a ton of weight (we were so happy for her). She now gives Arbonne 100% all the credit for her weight loss (which is insane because she lost all the weight BEFORE she even knew what Arbonne was). I cannot even talk to my sis without fearing she is going to bring up Arbonne. She is so convinced she is SO CLOSE to making it to "the top". She's been in Arbonne for 5 years and her upline keeps telling her once she is at the top, she will be a millionaire. She is so brainwashed, I don't know if she'll ever be the same. My biggest fear is she will eventually need to retire and she has no job and no money. She is banking her whole life of Arbonne. Again, this is a person who is currently at the 2nd highest level and she can't even afford a roof over head. But she sure does drive a beautiful car. 😒

I wish I did more research before wasting my money in all their over priced products. I feel so ashamed for even bugging my friends and family about joining this crap! I already left the company and there are so many cheaper products out their that are great

I have a hard time even justifying spending that kind of money on legit Sephora brands and such. It's good shit but so expensive! But with these MLMs, you could be getting drugstore makeup quality and paying an arm and a leg for it. Drugstore makeup is good but it's not as good as Sephora brands. You get what you pay for. Except for MLMs, you pay for more than what you get.

Then again, I've been bamboozled like that before too, just not as long lol I was only in ANY MLM for like 1-2 weeks at the most. and I never recruited anyone, for R+F, the one i was in for the longest I just liked the products but I never sold any b/c they are WAY too expensive lol.
About the statement that their business paid for their stuff: Their “business” didn’t pay for it, because they didn’t open up a business account set aside money they earn from their “business“, and then when they want to buy something to benefit their “business”, They take the money that they saved in their business account and use that instead of their personal funds.
As someone who owns a small publishing company, I can say that’s how I buy business assets. That’s how I bought an iMac for my business

Hey, just found your channel. I got scammed by Arbonne a hundred years ago before social media, can’t believe they are still around. Fun fact: my national Vice President up line has since been demoted to regional vp...just did some digging a found that little tidbit haha. So much for ‘living the dream’ when you make it to the top! All these scummy MLMs are the same...you never get off the hamster wheel, even at the top. Gotta churn thru recruits to keep that ‘free’ car!

If I remember correctly, besides the "free" trips not being free, you still have to pay taxes on whatever the trip is worth because the company considers it a payment.
Then to add insult to injury, when you jump ship and if the company still owes you money, they can deduct the price of the "free trips" or whatever from what they owe you, lol.
Everytime I feel like I’m getting sucked into an MLM, I do my research and I’m reminded of why MLM companies aren’t for me. Thank you for doing the research!!!

I'm working my way back since first discovering you a couple of weeks ago. I have to say these deep dives are brilliant. My interest is in all forms of cult behavior and your explanation of MLM is quite convincing. I've also listen to the videos reacting to internal MLM indoctrination. Have to say that I really can't take many more of them because the women I've seen on these are so unpleasant I can't bear to listen to more than 10 minutes. I suppose it's instructive to see how these people get indoctrinated, and maybe it would be instructive to see how QAnon indoctrinates its own cult members, but having done my own research into Jehovah's witnesses and other cults, it's all pretty much the same. Deeply cynical people taking advantage of people add vulnerable moments in their lives, and then brushing them with unceasing abuse to keep them in. It's all pretty depressing and I don't have the ability to slog through all of this. But kudos to you for trying to get out as many survivors as possible.
I did Arbonne for about 6 months. Worst mistake I ever made. I lost thousands of dollars and ended up giving most of my product away. My up line is still making a ton of money, but it was not my thing. At all.
And she is probably still working more than 12 hours a day. With no ‘free tome’

I'm sure I got hoodwinked into a 'business meeting' with this company years ago, i was abroad and between visas so couldn't work. Got given free samples, pretended I used them for a week, and got complimented on how great my skin was looking 🤔
Then i said i had to run it by my accountant and lawyer and that was the end of it.
Whilst I eventually forgave the individual who started all that, I never forgot it...guess I lost two hours to a webinar but got a free cup of coffee, and some samples.
The pitch was so manipulative though, the leader kept saying 'you've been chosen by someone who thinks really highly of you'

I was working registration at an Arbonne conference in Toronto in 2019 and with every person who checked in, we saw how much they paid for the conference... the costs ranged from a few hundred to into the thousands... people came from all over... both across Canada but also a bunch of people from the USA. And depending on the price they paid for the conference, they each got either their badge or product packs... it was wild how much they spent, and they didn't even get a paid lunch or coffee or anything.

@@IAMCCSuarez When you do your search on YL watch Margaret Angel who released part one of her anti mlm over the leader about 7 hours ago or so. That’s the most recent mlm I saw about yl because the video posts above hers were all showing people promoting it and of those only ONE was in North America and many of the others were in places like Singapore or the Philipines where the fda type of laws aren’t as strictly applied as they are in the States where you are OR Canada where I am!

I worked at Arbonne on Customer service in the early 2000's before I new anything about mlm's .. it was a good job at the time and it was so still owned by the original family that founded it in Switzerland or not this countries with all the blonde hair blue eyed people.. I noticed most of the customers that called in were all labeled as independent consultants because they would sign up just so they could get the 30% off on their own orders because u could see their past orders so u can tell who sold it or who didn't.. it never mattered to me in my
Job because it was just the same as apply other customer service job and the products weren't bad ..I'd never spend that kinda money.. I'm 43 and I buy most of my hygiene and makeup products at dollar tree lol
I love how actual norwegian MLMs are almost nowhere to find over here lol. Tupperware is big and I've seen some Nuskin-ers, but everything else is *cricet chirp*.

The car thing is hilarious. Super lame. Mary Kay has a similar thing but they repossess the car unless the consultant maintains an impossible amount of sales and commission each month. So the poor Mary Kay ladies get to keep the car maybe 1 month. They pay all the fees too.

So, basically, the car is a co-signer. They co-sign so you can get it with a down payment, even with bad credit? But unlike a mom co-signing they ask for insane extras. And if you don’t pay, they take it away because they are a co-signer? I’ve always lived where I didn’t need a car and my only two I’ve owned were gifts from my mechanic dad that he bought on auction to fix, I’ve never had to sign for a car so I’m unsure. But it sounds like a co-signing.
That car "bonus" thing is just...gross! And I know a lot of mlms have similar car programs that just do not seem worth it. The trips too. Plus isn't all of that taxed?

For real, I have hooded eyelids, and Nyx's eye primer is the only thing that doesn't make my eyeshadow disappear in an hour. Lovely brand, affordable, and everything I've tried from them has been great quality (and I've tried quite a bit of their stuff lmao)

But at 17:50, to be fair, 2007-2009 was the height of the Great Recession... business was down across the board, people were losing their homes and and credit was non-existent. I would keep that in mind when analyzing timelines in cases like these
great point but keep in mind, unfortunately times of economic crisis are when MLMs thrive the most. 2020 was an amazing year for MLM's

I think people can actually move up in rank, regardless of when they signed up. This Monat girl who signed up about 9 months ago is already an Executive Director. She seems to be making lots and lots of money. She also has a Cadillac. Almost every market partner I talk to tell me they are financially stable. And when you check their website out, they are either Associate Market Mentor or higher in the pyramid. They say they are very happy with their lives.
How are they able to rank up, if they are not making money?

This is a long story but just bear with me. I went to my first spin class on st. Pattys day with my mom and her best friend at Cyclebar. Before we went in for the class i saw an Arbonne flyer displayed near the water fountain. Because i watch your videos i was like "O NO".... NOW... I teach horseback riding lessons to kids and I just had a new student come ride with us- who was referred to me by a friend of mine in the neighborhood. I learned that the mom who brought him over is a fitness instructor- and where does she work? At cyclebar. She also asked me for my Instagram. When she followed me, I went to her profile and it turns out she is also the Arbonne rep who put those flyers up that I saw there 🤣 what are the odds? They claim to be a small business with plans to go global, yet they can have uplines and downlines all over the uk, USA, austrailia. I was contacted by them recently, selling me all the dreams of a white benz. The reasons were, it has to be white because it represents 'purity' and a benz because the a large majority of their staff are women and from families and want a safe and child friendly car. Yet you see many independent consultants in 2 door, convertibles. Lol. It's so interesting they claim you will get a car, yet its a lease in your name which means if anything happens it falls on you. This was not unique selling point (USP) for me because I have a car, that I actually OWN. So why would I lease something flashy that will put me in financial debt. Whew.

Yes!!!! I always hated when Younique presenters would brag about 1 million presenters.... when in reality there are only like 100,000 active 🙄🙄🙄 and even less then that actually selling.
