Girl, I was just considering joining this girls team. She’s so sweet and seems so genuine. And she gave amazing testimonials of the products and the growth she experienced and the people she’s helped in the process... but then I looked at the video of how Monat started and it was a little alarming. Even some of the word choices kinda made me feel cultish vibes. Immediately was like okay lemme really research it. You were the first video I looked at and I’m happy I did. I don’t like being lied to, having to lie to people, or any of that stuff for my own gain. That’s so lame. Thanks for doing the hw of making sure ppl don’t get scammed or become scammers haha
It’s sad because that girl trying to recruit you probably genuinely is sweet. She probably genuinely thinks she’s helping people, because they brainwash you. & some people do get great results and others get horrible results... glad you didn’t join

Younquie got me when I was 18 because I was in an abusive relationships and trying to get out. One of my old friends told me about them and one of Younquie's sales pitches are 'support abused women'. I was told that I 'won' a women's retreat after I joined the company and shared my story. By 'won' they mean I pay for the flight and back and paid $2k for the retreat. The retreat was actually $500 all inclusive. Obviously I didn't go but anytime I see that company it makes me so mad.
What’s sad is that they will always TARGET single moms, stay at home moms, and college students. 😂 OH AND LETS NOT FORGET THEY COME HUNTING FOR PEOPLE ONCE THAT STIMULUS HIT 😂😂 I always get the “ Girl you should be your own boss babe, you deserve financial freedom, join my team and you will be trained to make it to the top“. Like AHHAHAAH I’ll pass ma’am, I would much rather work at my “ 9 - 5 job” and actually have SECURED income, and let’s not forget health insurance & benefits ✨

I knew someone before she joined monat, We were good friends, then she joined and knew I was a Sahm mom with 3 children. So she asked first for me to buy the shampoo and said it was $30 and I was like umm no then later she said I could join her team and sell my own products. She told me it was $199 for the kit. I told her I can’t afford that and she legit said “well try and borrow money from a family member” that pissed me off! I ended that friendship right there.
I've had mlm people tell me to put it on the credit card and not tell my husband. Another was pushing me while my mother was dying and I had taken time off work to help care for her and when I said "Listen, I have no income and we're barely making it right now because I am giving my time to my DYING mother!" Her response? "Ask for your share of the estate early!" WTF????
They constantly try to convince me that they aren’t a pyramid scheme and the fact that they keep saying that my skin care routine sucks compared to theirs is just kinda rude

yes, thank you. this whole "every company is shaped like a pyramid" bs is really getting old. they cling to the "pyramid" but conveniently ignore what makes it a "scheme". I would get a referral bonus if someone I've recommended is hired but it's a *bonus*, it's not my actual job and it's a very small part of my paycheck. and like you said, they don't work under me, and my future salary is not depended on them in any way
Do you find there's any pressure to sell? I love the products, I use them every day. I like the idea of lower thresholds. But I don't want to sell. Are you able to benefit without pressure to sell?
@@lisajones4912 I actually stopped using the products. My results kind of plateaued so the products weren’t actually worth the cost anymore. I also hate the VIP program and flex ship rules. Not too much pressure to sell tho.

One of my friends tried recruiting me and they keep saying “at first I was like you and I actually said no” ... so if you said no repeatedly, doesn’t that mean the company is desperate if you eventually agreed? They need to keep asking you until you say yes and they keep recruiting to get themselves at the top. Talk about being a “community.” I asked why they recruit people and the market partner said “this is just such a good opportunity for people and of course we’d share it, we are a young business right now you should get in while you can.” LOL who would create more business competitors if they really wanted to make money? This all didn’t make sense to me, thank you SO MUCH for this video. I found so much relief in this!

It's annoying that these MLM's ESPECIALLY Monat, target younger girls who havent even worked corp jobs. I personally find value in having worked all the jobs I worked in my 20's. I have so much professional experience and it's helped me so much. How are you going to tell people that they can "skip" that part of your professional experience and life? I can gaurantee that when you join an MLM, even if you're at the top, 80% of the people in your life will lose all respect for you. Why would you want to join a company where so many people hate it and that is so controversial? The facts are there the numbers are there. 97% of people in Monat make no profit. It hurts my heart to see people be so manipulated by others for financial gain.
This is exactly why I have had to explain to my 16 year old daughter what mlms are and they different ones out there and how dangerous they are . She is an absolutely stunning young woman and I know many of these mlms will be falling over themselves to have her ‘represent’ them . They may try and prey on the young and naive /vulnerable but I have made sure my girl will not fall for it . I can guarantee she knows more about their mlm than she does ! I had a friend try to get me to join Monet and I even went to one of their events and after going there I realized that it was the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen. I would avoid it at all costs. All they talked about was getting people to join and nothing about the business or the products.
After watching a few of your videos, my boyfriend asked me if you were my long lost sister that I didn’t know about. Apparently, your attitude and sass are just like mine. Now I know why I had to immediately hit the subscribe button and am binge watching all your videos. Keep showing these schemes for what they are! Thank you for making this. They tried to recruit me yesterday and I had set up a meeting time for today. Someone I knew had messaged me saying “I just started a business w my friends” (as if she were the founder or something) they were all rlly nice and put me in a group chat and as soon as I asked “may I know the name of the product so I can do some research?”they left me on read and she went back to private messaging me which was shady. She wouldn’t tell me the product name, just ended up sending me hair quizzes. when I barely saw the label in a background photo and said “is what ur selling Monat” she would just send links to the website. I’m currently taking IMC classes and I’m glad I noticed that it was shady not to mention the name or have any product placement anywhere. This video saved me :)

Found this video and loved it. Just subscribed! I have friends stuck in MLMs, including Monat, and it hurts to watch them posture on social media when I know they are stuck in a vicious pyramid scheme taking advantage of them and others. More people need to know the real truth behind the lies MLMs force their “employees” to perpetuate.

CC Suarez definitely. Even the ones that are making money- it’s only because they’ve become successful at exploiting people through recruiting. MLMs are lose lose. Either you are like the 99% of people in any MLM who make no money (and often dig themselves into debt for it), or you make tons of money off the backs of people digging themselves into debt. You’re either being completely played or you’re unethically profiting off of people digging themselves into a financial hole. I wish more people understood this. But videos like these help to shed the light!

I have friends who aren’t one of their “coaches” who have bought the shakes or done the workouts and think they are just a regular company. They’ve done a good job with people recognizing the brand and associating it with a legit business model when it really isn’t, so that would definitely be a good one to expose.
Very interesting to hear this from a perspective of a sales rep. Sales is hard, takes a certain personality and drive, and companies give a lot of training so reps know the product. Training you get paid for. MLMs seriously found a system where they have all the advantage.

I’m sure there ARE some good ideas being shared out there, somewhere. I’m actually a fan of “personal development,” but the way it gets used in MLMs seems like just brainwashing people into ignoring all the red flags so they can stay in the business, aka continue to spend money for the upper levels to live off of. That’s the main problem: the whole system requires an army of people buying products at the entry level who will never make money off the business. When you recruit you have to KNOW (unless you never read the company’s income disclosure statement) that most people are being lured into a money losing effort, and that THIS is how the top folks are making their money. It just feels scummy.

Thank you! I had considered doing something like this as a single mom, I'm so glad I saw this and decided against it. The only thing that actually sounds good is the possibility of 250$ a week. 😁 I'm on disability now and only make $783 a Month, about 9,000$ a year. That would be a step up for me.
$250 a week is so rare though. You’d be losing money do NOT do an MLM. There’s so many other things you can do instead. For example Selling digital designs on Etsy is a great side hustle and you don’t have to sell your soul or go in debt
Absolutely NO MLM’s!!! I don’t know what your disability is, but you can 100% try and see if you’d be able to get a job as a representative! Amazon, banks, ect. are constantly hiring remote workers. @L A one of the biggest lessons of adulthood is that your TIME is the most valuable thing you have. If it doesn’t make you happy, doesn’t pay you enough to more than break even, it’s not worth your time. You’re damn right hun. 250$ a week extra out of nowhere for doing nothing is great. 250$ for doing someone’s hair and makeup for one event that week is great. Hell even making hair bows and getting 250$ a week is great. But spending HUNDREDS of hours a week cold messaging and putting yourself down for being berated is NOT worth my time. Maybe for a few grand a week, but I’ll be damned if I get 250$ for not ever having a moment of damn peace 😬

When I was working as a carer my company had a bonus for referring people to work there as they were always short of staffed but I still got paid £10 a hour and I definitely didn't get paid more then what I did for my actual job. And I didn't need to pay money to get paid! These people struggle to understand this.
I wish I had done more research before joining Monat. I’m in my 5th month, I’ve made $30 back of my $300 I invested and I haven’t hit 1 one rank. As of today I’m officially quitting after watching this video. Thank you for making this video! Lesson learned!

KRISTINA thank god! There are so many sales jobs these days that telecommute. Look on LinkedIn or Glassdoor I’m sure you’ll find one! Be sure to always check to see if it’s an MLM just by googling the name of the company “is ____ an MLM?” Seems that MLM reps are creating misleading job postings
Love the stats about the median income. What’s sad is think about how much $$ the company made from those distributors who make peanuts - they need to spend minimum of $200 a month to qualify for commissions - if say 300,000 distributors spent that (and you know they spent more than that) that’s $76 million to the company. Sickening!
I have a few friends from church in Monat and they recently joined. I feel so bad for them but I don’t wanna make enemies 😭 they asked if I wanted products, I just mentioned I’d let them know if something catches my eye 🥴
Girl, I’ve lost soooo many “church friends” because of MLMs. Once they know you won’t participate in any MLM, they stop trying to be your friend. It’s really sad. MLMs ruin friendships.

When you were breaking down the numbers, it reminded me of another video I watched about this former "top ranking" victim basically ar Beachbody I think, she was saying how she was unaware of the rules and fines when you jump up your tax bracket, if you dont pay your taxes quarterly, being self-employed, get fined. *Harshly* fined. She said it was somewhere around 12k in fines she ended up paying and how pissed she was that none of her "Hey Girl" pals never tipped her off that small tidbit of info.
Deanna Mims also broke down ALOT of info and numbers on how SHE was in BB and what money she spent and what money she earned. She was in the top 1% of beach body and was in the negative. Crazy and very eye opening. It's important to focus on numbers.

We have 2 beautiful daughters in their 20’s and 2 little fur babies. Years ago my husband and I went to a big shindig in San Diego for Amway with a couple of our friends and their spouses. I was so disgusted with what I was hearing I almost lost the baby I didn’t know I was carrying. The difference between a normal job and MLM is where the money is coming from. A normal company is making their money from outside the company with their product /service. So it's able to pay its employees. In an MLM, the money is coming from inside the company (the employees), it cannot sustain itself with the money coming from the employees in order to pay the employees.
Been using the hair products 6 mo. My hair is ruined. Pimples on my scalp, hair loss and a film on my entire head that feels like glue. My hairdresser is mortified as I’m I. The film on my hair started out of nowhere about 2 weeks ago. I’m devastated

I know two girls deep into Monat. 1 is apparently successful. Part of the motor club, quit her 9-5, seems to have money to spend. (She actually does taxes on the side too). The other is a young married mom who has struggled financially. She quit her job to have her second baby and didn’t go back and claims it’s because of monat. Yet she’s also a photographer and does a few sessions a week. She NEVER mentions the money from photography being a part of the reason she doesn’t have to go back to work - only Monat.

80% of what those people share is lies and also.... if they are the top 1-2% there’s nearly a zero percent chance you’ll get to that level at this point with the company. It’s so crazy they get away with all this .
As the O.P just said it was easy to see and find out that this brand is a scam. Unfortunately my friend forgot I’m already self employed having all my business licenses etc.. And they wanted to sell me a new business license instead of understanding that I only would need a reseller license or a simple Reseller Permit or how every you want to name it, but oh well... they don’t even understand this part ... unfortunately!
Since you’re not actually “reselling” you don’t need any of that. Basically all you’re doing is promoting and they purchase via their Monat affiliate website.

Hi Chelsea, I’m actually new here. I love your personality! I was looking for research on this company because my “friend” is in Monat and recently got her new caddy. She reached out to me a second time. So the first time, I said “no” because after trying their shampoo samples my scalp was itching like CRAZY! I noticed white particles at the top, which looked like dandruff, but she mentioned that the shampoo was detoxing my scalp from any “shampoo buildup”. I also read reviews of people’s hair falling out. I was pregnant at the time so I got scared and rejected her offer of signing up to be her market partner. The second time she reached out, I said “no”again. Her response made me feel like I made the wrong decision. I have a greater integrity rather than choosing to sell products that I know aren’t working for EVERYONE. I would rather be broke than lie tbh. I just noticed they came up with a new skincare and wellness line. A side hustle sounds nice - I would need it right now, but after hearing the math you’ve mentioned in your video I don’t want to lose profit if most of the money that I would be generating are through recruitment and not sales. In my workplace the amount of money I earn doesn’t affect the amount of money someone else earns . Yes someone with more training or experience than me may earn more money but what they earn has nothing to do with how hard I do or do not work . Their rebuttals are ridiculous and make no sense .

I have a few friends that are in monat they tried recruiting me so I looked up videos on UA-cam and fell into antimlm . I'm so thankful for these videos I hate scammers even if they don't know they are.

my friend said someone literally came up to her at her job and convinced her to join. I told her the whole situation was sketchy with the payment plan and everything. BUT she's already bought 300$ worth of products and talks like them in the zoom calls. legit writes a script for her self. idk man

And she gave amazing testimonials of the products and the growth she experienced and the people she’s helped in the process... but then I looked at the video of how Monat started and it was a little alarming. Even some of the word choices kinda made me feel cultish vibes. Immediately was like okay lemme really research it. You were the first video I looked at and I’m happy I did. I don’t like being lied to, having to lie to people, or any of that stuff for my own gain. That’s so lame. Thanks for doing the hw of making sure ppl don’t get scammed or become scammers haha

Younquie got me when I was 18 because I was in an abusive relationships and trying to get out. One of my old friends told me about them and one of Younquie's sales pitches are 'support abused women'. I was told that I 'won' a women's retreat after I joined the company and shared my story. By 'won' they mean I pay for the flight and back and paid $2k for the retreat. The retreat was actually $500 all inclusive. Obviously I didn't go but anytime I see that company it makes me so mad.

I have only been asked to be in three: Amway, MelaLuca and World Ventures.

I knew someone before she joined monat, We were good friends, then she joined and knew I was a Sahm mom with 3 children. So she asked first for me to buy the shampoo and said it was $30 and I was like umm no then later she said I could join her team and sell my own products. She told me it was $199 for the kit. I told her I can’t afford that and she legit said “well try and borrow money from a family member” that pissed me off! I ended that friendship right there.
I had an acquaintance tried to recruit me into an MLM when I was unemployed. She pulled that just borrow it from someone nonsense too. Smt

I personally love the products and have gotten great results, but I refuse to sell them. And I made that very clear from the beginning.
Do you find there's any pressure to sell? I love the products, I use them every day. I like the idea of lower thresholds. But I don't want to sell. Are you able to benefit without pressure to sell?
@@lisajones4912 I actually stopped using the products. My results kind of plateaued so the products weren’t actually worth the cost anymore. I also hate the VIP program and flex ship rules. Not too much pressure to sell tho.

One of my friends tried recruiting me and they keep saying “at first I was like you and I actually said no” ... so if you said no repeatedly, doesn’t that mean the company is desperate if you eventually agreed? They need to keep asking you until you say yes and they keep recruiting to get themselves at the top. Talk about being a “community.” I asked why they recruit people and the market partner said “this is just such a good opportunity for people and of course we’d share it, we are a young business right now you should get in while you can.” LOL who would create more business competitors if they really wanted to make money? It's annoying that these MLM's ESPECIALLY Monat, target younger girls who havent even worked corp jobs. I personally find value in having worked all the jobs I worked in my 20's. I have so much professional experience and it's helped me so much. How are you going to tell people that they can "skip" that part of your professional experience and life? I can gaurantee that when you join an MLM, even if you're at the top, 80% of the people in your life will lose all respect for you. Why would you want to join a company where so many people hate it and that is so controversial? The facts are there the numbers are there. 97% of people in Monat make no profit. It hurts my heart to see people be so manipulated by others for financial gain.
This is exactly why I have had to explain to my 16 year old daughter what mlms are and they different ones out there and how dangerous they are . She is an absolutely stunning young woman and I know many of these mlms will be falling over themselves to have her ‘represent’ them . They may try and prey on the young and naive /vulnerable but I have made sure my girl will not fall for it . I can guarantee she knows more about their mlm than she does !

Thank you for making this. They tried to recruit me yesterday and I had set up a meeting time for today. Someone I knew had messaged me saying “I just started a business w my friends” (as if she were the founder or something) they were all rlly nice and put me in a group chat and as soon as I asked “may I know the name of the product so I can do some research?”they left me on read and she went back to private messaging me which was shady. She wouldn’t tell me the product name, just ended up sending me hair quizzes. when I barely saw the label in a background photo and said “is what ur selling Monat” she would just send links to the website. I’m currently taking IMC classes and I’m glad I noticed that it was shady not to mention the name or have any product placement anywhere. This video saved me :)

I have friends stuck in MLMs, including Monat, and it hurts to watch them posture on social media when I know they are stuck in a vicious pyramid scheme taking advantage of them and others. More people need to know the real truth behind the lies MLMs force their “employees” to perpetuate.

CC Suarez definitely. Even the ones that are making money- it’s only because they’ve become successful at exploiting people through recruiting. MLMs are lose lose. Either you are like the 99% of people in any MLM who make no money (and often dig themselves into debt for it), or you make tons of money off the backs of people digging themselves into debt. You’re either being completely played or you’re unethically profiting off of people digging themselves into a financial hole. I wish more people understood this. But videos like these help to shed the light!

I have friends who aren’t one of their “coaches” who have bought the shakes or done the workouts and think they are just a regular company. They’ve done a good job with people recognizing the brand and associating it with a legit business model when it really isn’t, so that would definitely be a good one to expose.
Very interesting to hear this from a perspective of a sales rep. Sales is hard, takes a certain personality and drive, and companies give a lot of training so reps know the product. Training you get paid for. MLMs seriously found a system where they have all the advantage.

I’m sure there ARE some good ideas being shared out there, somewhere. I’m actually a fan of “personal development,” but the way it gets used in MLMs seems like just brainwashing people into ignoring all the red flags so they can stay in the business, aka continue to spend money for the upper levels to live off of. That’s the main problem: the whole system requires an army of people buying products at the entry level who will never make money off the business. When you recruit you have to KNOW (unless you never read the company’s income disclosure statement) that most people are being lured into a money losing effort, and that THIS is how the top folks are making their money. It just feels scummy.

$250 a week is so rare though. You’d be losing money do NOT do an MLM. There’s so many other things you can do instead. For example Selling digital designs on Etsy is a great side hustle and you don’t have to sell your soul or go in debt

@L A one of the biggest lessons of adulthood is that your TIME is the most valuable thing you have. If it doesn’t make you happy, doesn’t pay you enough to more than break even, it’s not worth your time. You’re damn right hun. 250$ a week extra out of nowhere for doing nothing is great. 250$ for doing someone’s hair and makeup for one event that week is great. Hell even making hair bows and getting 250$ a week is great. But spending HUNDREDS of hours a week cold messaging and putting yourself down for being berated is NOT worth my time. Maybe for a few grand a week, but I’ll be damned if I get 250$ for not ever having a moment of damn peace 😬

When I was working as a carer my company had a bonus for referring people to work there as they were always short of staffed but I still got paid £10 a hour and I definitely didn't get paid more then what I did for my actual job. And I didn't need to pay money to get paid! These people struggle to understand this.

KRISTINA thank god! There are so many sales jobs these days that telecommute. Look on LinkedIn or Glassdoor I’m sure you’ll find one! Be sure to always check to see if it’s an MLM just by googling the name of the company “is ____ an MLM?” Seems that MLM reps are creating misleading job postings
Love the stats about the median income. What’s sad is think about how much $$ the company made from those distributors who make peanuts - they need to spend minimum of $200 a month to qualify for commissions - if say 300,000 distributors spent that (and you know they spent more than that) that’s $76 million to the company. Sickening!

I told of them monat people that I can’t do it because we’re in the middle of a pandemic & I struggle with money, especially we have to buy our own products.. & she said “ well this business is for you then if you have money problems” like first of all, how am I suppose to start the BUSINESS if I don’t have money to buy your product” 😂😂 idk I can’t... When you were breaking down the numbers, it reminded me of another video I watched about this former "top ranking" victim basically ar Beachbody I think, she was saying how she was unaware of the rules and fines when you jump up your tax bracket, if you dont pay your taxes quarterly, being self-employed, get fined. *Harshly* fined. She said it was somewhere around 12k in fines she ended up paying and how pissed she was that none of her "Hey Girl" pals never tipped her off that small tidbit of info.
Deanna Mims also broke down ALOT of info and numbers on how SHE was in BB and what money she spent and what money she earned. She was in the top 1% of beach body and was in the negative. Crazy and very eye opening. It's important to focus on numbers.
Happy Sunday! I’m a new follower and have been binge watching/listening while cleaning. I’m 60, married for 30 years to my best friend. We have 2 beautiful daughters in their 20’s and 2 little fur babies. Years ago my husband and I went to a big shindig in San Diego for Amway with a couple of our friends and their spouses. I was so disgusted with what I was hearing I almost lost the baby I didn’t know I was carrying. The difference between a normal job and MLM is where the money is coming from. A normal company is making their money from outside the company with their product /service. So it's able to pay its employees. In an MLM, the money is coming from inside the company (the employees), it cannot sustain itself with the money coming from the employees in order to pay the employees.
Been using the hair products 6 mo. My hair is ruined. Pimples on my scalp, hair loss and a film on my entire head that feels like glue. My hairdresser is mortified as I’m I. The film on my hair started out of nowhere about 2 weeks ago. I’m devastated

I know two girls deep into Monat. 1 is apparently successful. Part of the motor club, quit her 9-5, seems to have money to spend. (She actually does taxes on the side too).
The other is a young married mom who has struggled financially. She quit her job to have her second baby and didn’t go back and claims it’s because of monat. Yet she’s also a photographer and does a few sessions a week. She NEVER mentions the money from photography being a part of the reason she doesn’t have to go back to work - only Monat.
This lady obviously didn’t make it so she’s hating

80% of what those people share is lies and also.... if they are the top 1-2% there’s nearly a zero percent chance you’ll get to that level at this point with the company. It’s so crazy they get away with all this .
As the O.P just said it was easy to see and find out that this brand is a scam. Unfortunately my friend forgot I’m already self employed having all my business licenses etc..
And they wanted to sell me a new business license instead of understanding that I only would need a reseller license or a simple Reseller Permit or how every you want to name it, but oh well... they don’t even understand this part ... unfortunately!
Since you’re not actually “reselling” you don’t need any of that. Basically all you’re doing is promoting and they purchase via their Monat affiliate website.

I have Endometriosis, and I cant tell you how many messages I've got about joining some MLM and people claiming itll cure my Endometriosis, when there is no cure to Endometriosis. It's sad how they prey on disabled people, it pisses me off every time I get a message. I've been disabled since I was 24, no essential oil or workout is gonna change that.

Hi Chelsea, I’m actually new here. I love your personality! I was looking for research on this company because my “friend” is in Monat and recently got her new caddy. She reached out to me a second time. So the first time, I said “no” because after trying their shampoo samples my scalp was itching like CRAZY! I noticed white particles at the top, which looked like dandruff, but she mentioned that the shampoo was detoxing my scalp from any “shampoo buildup”. I also read reviews of people’s hair falling out. I was pregnant at the time so I got scared and rejected her offer of signing up to be her market partner. The second time she reached out, I said “no”again. Her response made me feel like I made the wrong decision. I have a greater integrity rather than choosing to sell products that I know aren’t working for EVERYONE. I would rather be broke than lie tbh. I just noticed they came up with a new skincare and wellness line. A side hustle sounds nice - I would need it right now, but after hearing the math you’ve mentioned in your video I don’t want to lose profit if most of the money that I would be generating are through recruitment and not sales. In my workplace the amount of money I earn doesn’t affect the amount of money someone else earns . Yes someone with more training or experience than me may earn more money but what they earn has nothing to do with how hard I do or do not work . Their rebuttals are ridiculous and make no sense .

I even went thru why, and she still said I could make money and get outta medical debt. Being hounded for weeks, even after she knew I was pinching pennies, totally turned me off on her BS.
