Well I guess you have to to "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes soon. The song is from 1963. Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys was obsessed with this song due the the production values of Phil Spector. He would play it over and over again. Wilson use some of Phil Spector's production techniques on the Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" album (1966). Ronnie Spector was an awesome singer. 80s videos often border on cheesy, as seen today, but videos were a very new medium, and everyone was exploring and pushing boundaries. Many had that 80s postmodern feel. The video makers and artists just felt total freedom to create while also referencing past imagery from films. A great time to watch MTV 24 hours a day, as we did!

2019 I had the privilege of getting to photograph Eddie Money and his beautiful daughter Jessica when they performed in The Villages, Florida. During the meet and greet, he was extremely cordial to all of his fans. He really liked his fans. He patiently listened to them about their experiences with him, etc. Throughout the concert, he had so many wonderful stories to tell about songs, people he had traveled with, his parents, his family... he was truly one of the good guys. I am so thankful I got to photograph this beautiful soul. RIP Eddie.
The woman in the song is Ronnie Spector. She sang with the Ronettes and was married to Phil Spector (who recently died) at one time. With that question you just opened the door to listening to girl groups from the 60's. So much good music there! You may have heard Be My baby or one of the Ronettes Christmas songs (Frosty the Snowman). Look up the Wall of Sound.
The 50's and early Motown in general just makes you feel good. Shorter songs, and only about 10 different words, but real catchy. "Stand By Me" wouldn't have been as great without the soundtrack.
Eddie was a New York police officer before becoming a singer. As others have said- that's Ronnie Spector- lead singer of the Ronettes. They had a song Be My Baby, which they are playing off of with her lyrics. Two Tickets to Paradise, Shakin, Baby Hold On, Think I'm in Love
The line "be my little baby" is actually a very creative songwriting and arranging device called a quote where one song quotes a part of another song. Ronnie Spector and the Ronetts made a huge hit in the '60s called "Be My Baby" and when Eddie Money made Take Me Home Tonight he got Ronnie Spector to reprise her famous hook for this record and video nearly 30 years after she recorded the classic. This is an '80s classic that pays homage to the '60s. They don't make records like this anymore! RIP Ronnie and Eddie...
Ronnie Spector of the Ronettes. The lyrics are referencing their 60s song "Be My Baby." When the drumbeat switches up at 4:55, it's actually mimicking the drumbeat from that song. Also check out "Baby Hold on to Me," Eddie Money's first hit in the 70s
I still remember the bad joke about him growing up: Eddie Money - the cop who looked like a rock singer; Huey Lewis - the rock singer who looked like a cop.
"Two Tickets To Paradise" is a super catchy fun song to sing. 🎵 Corey Hart always follows next with "I Wear My Sunglasses At Night." 🕶 It's literally now a pop culture statement.
Eddie was the shit. My all time favorite rocker. He had no ego whatsoever and adored his fans. He barely ever had security around at his shows he loved to interact with the people.
Phil Spector's ex-wife Ronnie Spector singing the "Be my little baby" in the background. She was in a girl group called The Ronnett's' from the 60's. I still have this vinyl LP.
"Just like Ronnie sang:", Ronnie Spector is the name of the woman singing on the song. I had to look it up and it never dawned on me that lyric where Eddie just tells us.
My friend you haven't reached back in time far enough yet. That woman was the one, the only, RONNIE SPECTRE. Ronnie of Ronnie and the Ronetts. One of the very first walkin wet dreams that came out of Motown. When this first came out I about freaked out. 20 years of hearing little or nothing then BOOM, here she is.
Eddie Money was often referred to as the working man’s rocker. He came up in the early 70s in the Bay Area, San Fransisco, at the same time Santana, Kenny Loggins etc. This was about the time the LA scene included Linda Ronstadt, the Eagles and Jackson Brown. I recall him spending time in Myrtle Beach, playing local clubs. Many of my friends hung out with Eddie. Like some rockers, that long time smoking and drinking habit ages you quickly. He passed in 2019, at 70. Thanks for the iconic songs that made my generation stand up and sing along! RIP Eddie!!! Cheesy? Hold on now! Music is an evolution. Without the 80s, today’s music would lack the luster. That’s Ronnie Spector. She had a hit in the 60s. Be My Little Baby! The ladder is for building concert set!
Real Money was the name of his reality show. His entire family was in it.(wife and 5 kids). 2 of his sons, Desmond and Julian, and his daughter ,Jessica ,were in his band.
Way back in the late 80’s I went to see Eddie Money in concert and I have to say it was one heck of a show. My best friend and I had our tickets and couldn’t wait till the day came for the concert. We both came down with pneumonia, sick as we could be, but we were going to make it to that concert. So we stopped off and got some cough syrup and hit the road. Even as sick as we were it was still one hell of a show and we had a darn good time.
@FiatDuster So did Brian Wilson and he wrote Don't Worry Baby for her. Phil rejected it and the rest became history. Later in the 90s Ronnie finally sang it for Brian.
That was the legendary Ronnie Spector of The Ronettes. The line in the song, "just like Ronnie sang, be my little baby "Was a reference to The Ronettes hit 'Be My Baby" produced by Ronnie spector's husband, the legendary producer Phil Spector (who recently passed..) It was one of the things that made this particular song so special, that she was actually singing that line That was referring to her. Quik personal story. When this song came out, the major rock station in New York was wnew-fm . Eddie Money was the featured performer at the annual New Year's Eve concert . I had tickets. I remember Saying to my wife as we drove there, "I wonder if Ronnie Spector is going to show up?". Because she was a friend of that station , and that hit was airing On the radio at that time And don't you know ? She absolutely did! And it was freaking awesome!. BTW, Eddie's first album was one of the first records I ever bought.
The song “Take Me Home Tonight” by Eddie Money features uncredited vocals by Ronnie Spector, the lead singer of the 1960s girl group The Ronettes. Ronnie Spector’s distinctive voice answers Eddie Money’s chorus lyrics, “just like Ronnie sang”, with “be my little baby”. This collaboration was a result of Eddie Money’s efforts to recruit Ronnie Spector herself, after initial attempts to have Martha Davis of The Motels re-record the lines from “Be My Baby” for the song. Ronnie Spector’s involvement in the song helped revive her touring and recording career after a period of retirement. The song’s chorus interpolates the Ronettes’ 1963 hit “Be My Baby”, with Ronnie Spector reprising her role as the original vocalist. Her contribution to “Take Me Home Tonight” adds a nostalgic touch, blending the styles of the 1960s and 1980s.
IMO, best part of this song is Ronnie Spector singing. That voice! There's a whole huge rabbit hole with girl groups and the Phil Spector 'wall of sound' era.
Absolute classic to this day 86. Rip Eddie. Great singer who had tons of hits. The woman is Ronnie Spector of the ronettes. She had a big hit. ‘Be my baby’. What he’s saying just like Ronnie said.
Eddie Money was Ed Mahoney, from a long family line of Law Enforcement. He was a cop for a short time, but left it all to follow his passion. " I Want To Go Back" and "Two Tickets To Paradise"
“Just like Ronnie said…” The legendary Ronnie Spector of the 60’s group, The Ronettes”. Her biggest hit was a song called “Be My Baby”. A lot of 80’s artists did songs that featured their musical influences and heroes. A good example (and one to react to) is “What Have I Done to Deserve This” by the Pet Shop Boys featuring Dusty Springfield.
I watched him in Cleveland,at hard rock casino and it was great to see him after all my life listening (born 1980),even played the sax a few times, his daughter was also great on stage,he passed about a year later🌻 rip Eddie Money🌻🎷
By the way, as you look at the 60's music, you will see some references to The Wrecking Crew. They were an amazing group of highly regarded studio musicians. There is a great documentary about them.
I met Eddie Money in Hollywood at a 7-11 in 1978. He was driving a big black Cadillac. We had coffee at Denny's. At his next concert before he sang one of his songs, he said, "This is for all the people I've met at 7-11". I almost fainted. He was a really nice guy and he died too soon. I still have a crush on him.
how strange the timing since Ronnie Spector ex-husband passed away in prison reacently and no so long ago I think it was 2019 that Eddie Money passed away as well.
Poor Ronnie had to sneak out of their home with no shoes and just the dress she was wearing to escape his controlling nature. He fired guns in his recording studio (John Lennon said Shoot me, Phil, but watch my ears!) And then there's the murder of Lana Clarkson. Scary guy. Thanks for the music, Phil, but good riddance!
@@tanisdevelopment he may have been a great producer but boy, was he a nasty piece of work. the gun in the studio bit I heard was a rumors about an incident that he forced the Ramones at gun point to agree to have strings on their album or some crazy spit.

He was referring to the music producer, Phil Spector's ex-wife, Ronnie Specter of "The Ronnettes" and their song "Be My Baby"(which you should definitely check that song out also)
And in case you're wondering, yes that is Ronnie Specter in the video
The woman is Ronnie Spector of The Ronettes. She is a singular talent.
Eddie Money
So underrated
Great "regular guy"
Great singer with so many great songs
Eddie was a New York police officer before becoming a singer. As others have said- that's Ronnie Spector- lead singer of the Ronettes. They had a song Be My Baby, which they are playing off of with her lyrics. Two Tickets to Paradise, Shakin, Baby Hold On, Think I'm in Love
That's Ronnie Spector , from the 60's band , ' The Ronettes ' ...
He was a genuine, good person. He had such charisma. Learning of his passing was a shock. I've listened to him all my life! RIP Eddie!
Good choice..! "I Think I'm In Love" is another good one.
And the video!
@@klskin Mini movie....lol
Corey Hart always follows next with "I Wear My Sunglasses At Night." 🕶 It's literally now a pop culture statement.
Eddie was the shit. My all time favorite rocker. He had no ego whatsoever and adored his fans. He barely ever had security around at his shows he loved to interact with the people.
She's Ronnie Specter from the Ronnettes that sang Be My Baby in the 60's.
Ronnie Spector was the wife of Phil Spector. His wall-of-sound technique made her group stars. She is also in the video.
Phil Spector's ex-wife Ronnie Spector singing the "Be my little baby" in the background. She was in a girl group called The Ronnett's' from the 60's. I still have this vinyl LP.
“Be My Baby” by the Ronettes. Ronnie Spector is the female singer on this, Eddie was paying homage to her. Just a great song.
"Just like Ronnie sang:", Ronnie Spector is the name of the woman singing on the song. I had to look it up and it never dawned on me that lyric where Eddie just tells us.
Eddie has many real good songs. I really like “Walk on Water” and “ I Wanna Go Back”
Yes!
My favorite is "Trindad."
I am partial to "Give Me Some Water"
@@rickwilliamson9248 Great song. Checkout his "Unplug it In" concert from the mid 90's . He did "Trindad" in acoustic & it sounded fantastic.
@@snowman333- Great song. Checkout his "Unplug it In" concert from the mid 90's . He did "Give Me Some Water" in acoustic & it sounded fantastic.
The woman is Ronnie Spector, who the song is about.
*Spector. SPECTRE was the evil organization that James Bond was up against.
You gotta do Peace In Our Time! That's a song by him that trounces every one of his hits, and surprisingly, not many people know about it.
God rest Eddie Money, Soundtrack to many of us!
Eddie Money - "Two tickets to paradise". BANGER 🔥
Also The Ronnettes (Ronnie Spector) -"Be my baby". 🔥
Real Money was the name of his reality show. His entire family was in it.(wife and 5 kids).
2 of his sons, Desmond and Julian, and his daughter ,Jessica ,were in his band.
Sadly the world lost Ms Ronnie today. A unique voice that you can listen to over and over again.
This is the song he refers to, and the woman who is singing backing vocals.
The Ronettes
- Be My Baby

Way back in the late 80’s I went to see Eddie Money in concert and I have to say it was one heck of a show. My best friend and I had our tickets and couldn’t wait till the day came for the concert. We both came down with pneumonia, sick as we could be, but we were going to make it to that concert. So we stopped off and got some cough syrup and hit the road. Even as sick as we were it was still one hell of a show and we had a darn good time.
Ronnie Spector, she sang with the Ronettes in the 50/60s. Songs like: Be My Baby ( in the movie Dirty Dancing),
@FiatDuster So did Brian Wilson and he wrote Don't Worry Baby for her.
"You know you cool when you're wearing your sunglasses indoors." You should react to the song I Wear My Sunglasses at Night by Gary Hart.
I meant Corey Hart.
Now you need to pull up some early Bryan Adams. "Cuts Like A Knife" or "Run To You."
“Somebody” also. ✌🏽
Please!!!!
"just like Ronnie SANG..."
His debut album is still one of the classics of all time .... RIP Edward Mahoney
More Eddie "Money" Mahony: Two Tickets to Paradise
I watched him in Cleveland,at hard rock casino and it was great to see him after all my life listening (born 1980),even played the sax a few times, his daughter was also great on stage,he passed about a year later🌻 rip Eddie Money🌻🎷
By the way, as you look at the 60's music, you will see some references to The Wrecking Crew. They were an amazing group of highly regarded studio musicians. There is a great documentary about them.
One of my Top 5 80’s songs of all-time. I Love Me Some Money 💵, Eddie Money.
"Indian Reservation" by Paul Revere and the Raiders
One of the many great hits by Eddie along with TWO TICKETS TO PARADISE and SHAKIN'. RIP EDDIE your great music lives on.
You gotta do "Shakin" by Eddie Money.
Thank you for doing these reactions to Eddie Money’s music! ❤️ Eddie has been my absolute favorite since I was 15, yes in the 80’s. 😆 I was fortunate to see him several times, he was the most humble, kind and loyal artist I ever saw. You knew he loved his fans, he showed you. Miss Eddie Money ❤️😢
“Who gave Eddie Money and Johnny Cash?”
Johnny Paycheck, probably. Or Gary U.S. Bonds.
@@soapytiger brilliant answer!
The MUSIC...MAN..
They had no cents!
It had to have come from the Tom Petty cash fund!!!!!
This is a great Show! And you are a very amazing MC! Greetings from Vienna! Keep on rockin in a free world! 😎
Check out Eddie Money's song "I Want To Go Back." Its my personal favorite song of his.
I wanna go back and do it all over! Can I?
Love this song! It's on my 80s playlist. Love my 80s 🎶
I think thats the famous Ronnie Spector, sining female vocals,
Correct.
Loved his 80s songs. Also check out "I Wanna Go back" and "I'll get by"
The first one came out when I was 11, & as I was singing the lyrics my Dad says, "where in life could you wanna go back to? you're only 11" 🤣🤣
"Give me some water" a great song
Damn I miss the 80’s. So much better music and freedom. No one got offended by ANYTHING. So happy I grew up in the 80’s. Awesome teen years
Ronnie Spector, you know of her even if you don't think so.
I got a chance to see him in concert years ago in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. What a great performer he was and he loved interacting with the crowd. After the concert he sat at a table outside the concert hall just talk to the fans. I got a chance to talk to him for a few minutes and what a great guy he seemed to be. A suggestion of his that I have is a song called "I Wanna Go Back" from the same album as this song. It's about looking back on great youthful memories.
I'm surprise you didn't a say anything about Eddie playing the sax
Eddie Mahoney, aka Money, Brooklyn born badass. Had all of us rockin’. RIP my friend.
The woman is Ronnie Spector, Phil Spector's ex.
