You may have heard Be My baby or one of the Ronettes Christmas songs (Frosty the Snowman). Look up the Wall of Sound.
The 50's and early Motown in general just makes you feel good. Shorter songs, and only about 10 different words, but real catchy. "Stand By Me" wouldn't have been as great without the soundtrack.
Eddie has always been one of my favorite singers!! The sound of his voice is unmatched! I would love to see you react to “Shakin”!! That’s my favorite song of his!!!!
Saw him in the early 90s at Six Flags over Georgia, well after his heyday. He and his band did his entire set unplugged and his hits reggae style. The whole place was just dancing and amazed at the re-interpretation of his songs. Still can picture where we sat and how much fun we had. He was a great performer and had the entire audience captivated.
There's a cd, from that time, called "Unplug it In" where Eddie is doing several hits in acoustic. All of his songs sounded amazing & some like Trinidad are the best versions i've ever heard.
Here to say farewell to Ronnie Spector, who passed away yesterday to cancer. One of the greatest, and it's awesome that Eddie Money recognized that and brought her in on this song.
Ronnie Spector of the Ronettes. The lyrics are referencing their 60s song "Be My Baby." When the drumbeat switches up at 4:55, it's actually mimicking the drumbeat from that song. Also check out "Baby Hold on to Me," Eddie Money's first hit in the 70s
The line "be my little baby" is actually a very creative songwriting and arranging device called a quote where one song quotes a part of another song. Ronnie Spector and the Ronetts made a huge hit in the '60s called "Be My Baby" and when Eddie Money made Take Me Home Tonight he got Ronnie Spector to reprise her famous hook for this record and video nearly 30 years after she recorded the classic. This is an '80s classic that pays homage to the '60s. They don't make records like this anymore! RIP Ronnie and Eddie...

"Two Tickets To Paradise" is a super catchy fun song to sing. 🎵 Corey Hart always follows next with "I Wear My Sunglasses At Night." 🕶 It's literally now a pop culture statement.
She was married to Phil Specter the biggest producer perhaps ever. The Ronnettes had 2 huge hits in the 60's. Be my Baby and Baby I love you. Money patterned this song in the style of the Ronnettes.
My friend you haven't reached back in time far enough yet. That woman was the one, the only, RONNIE SPECTRE. Ronnie of Ronnie and the Ronetts. One of the very first walkin wet dreams that came out of Motown. When this first came out I about freaked out. 20 years of hearing little or nothing then BOOM, here she is.
"Just like Ronnie sang:", Ronnie Spector is the name of the woman singing on the song. I had to look it up and it never dawned on me that lyric where Eddie just tells us.
Eddie Money was often referred to as the working man’s rocker. He came up in the early 70s in the Bay Area, San Fransisco, at the same time Santana, Kenny Loggins etc. This was about the time the LA scene included Linda Ronstadt, the Eagles and Jackson Brown. I recall him spending time in Myrtle Beach, playing local clubs. Many of my friends hung out with Eddie. Like some rockers, that long time smoking and drinking habit ages you quickly. He passed in 2019, at 70. Thanks for the iconic songs that made my generation stand up and sing along! RIP Eddie!!! Cheesy? Hold on now! Music is an evolution. Without the 80s, today’s music would lack the luster. That’s Ronnie Spector. She had a hit in the 60s. Be My Little Baby! The ladder is for building concert set!
Real Money was the name of his reality show. His entire family was in it.(wife and 5 kids). 2 of his sons, Desmond and Julian, and his daughter ,Jessica ,were in his band.
Eddie Money's real name was Eddie Mahoney. Just removed the "ah" for his stage name. He originally gained fame in the 70's, and this album in the mid-80's was his comeback. I once heard him interviewed on Howard Stern, he told some incredible stories about his addictions in the 70's. He said it was a miracle he escaped that decade alive.
IMO, best part of this song is Ronnie Spector singing. That voice! There's a whole huge rabbit hole with girl groups and the Phil Spector 'wall of sound' era.
As others are saying it is Ronnie Spector. She had a song Be My Baby. This song gave her a resurgence and she started touring again. Eddie heard the demo and heard the Be My Little Baby part. They wanted to get another singer but he got in contact with Ronnie, who was out of the business. She was actually doing dishes when he called. He talked her into it as he said it was a great tribute to her. She released another album because of it. Eddie says he was not a fan of the song but it helped her out and gave him more control of his music so he likes it for that.
“Just like Ronnie said…” The legendary Ronnie Spector of the 60’s group, The Ronettes”. Her biggest hit was a song called “Be My Baby”. A lot of 80’s artists did songs that featured their musical influences and heroes. A good example (and one to react to) is “What Have I Done to Deserve This” by the Pet Shop Boys featuring Dusty Springfield.

I really liked Eddie’s reality show “Real Money”. I watched it on AXS TV channel. Eddie was so funny. His sense of humor reminded me of my late hubby. The show was about to start a new season when Eddie passed. Who passed not too long before him. The show was about him and his wife of 30 years and 5 grown kids(all still living at home) Some of them were in his band and or pursuing their own careers. The show was more about things happening in the family than his music, even though he had several hits in the 80’s. Great performer. He was very family oriented and a loving dad. They all had great love and respect for him as well. They even showed when he was first diagnosed and dealing with cancer. A great loss. He was an encyclopedia of modern music. Great loss to us…
how strange the timing since Ronnie Spector ex-husband passed away in prison reacently and no so long ago I think it was 2019 that Eddie Money passed away as well.
Poor Ronnie had to sneak out of their home with no shoes and just the dress she was wearing to escape his controlling nature. He fired guns in his recording studio (John Lennon said Shoot me, Phil, but watch my ears!) And then there's the murder of Lana Clarkson. Scary guy. Thanks for the music, Phil, but good riddance!

"Be My Baby" by the Ronettes has one of the most famous drum beats in pop music. Not only is Ronnie Spector singing "be my little baby" in the chorus, but the drums in "Take Me Home Tonight" after the sax solo, when the chorus is sung again, it's the "Be My Baby" drum lick, complete with castanets.

You know, some songs are greater than other; but, you CANNOT have the 80's without all these GREAT songs. I say piss on today's music and it's singers.
Ronnie Spector is the sweetest & most down to earth person you would ever want to meet. Both her & her husband Jonathan signed a copy of her autobiography “Be My Baby” (a must-read) for me. I was supposed to work her concert & was sick with the flu. So my mom, who was head of Security got the signatures for me. Mom told me she held up the book on stage & thanked me personally (according to mom) for buying it. She asked my mom to have me call the local radio station (this was in the late eighties/early nineties) so she could chat with me on air. And I had laryngitis & a fever & couldn’t get out of bed! I was so upset! Ronnie went thru hell with Spector & he left her with basically nothing, just like Ike did to Tina. Even back then Spector was a controlling monster.
I love Eddie Money. There's a back story to the song...I can't remember it exactly but this song has something to do with the people around him trying to keep him off drugs. May he rest in peace.

Great singer with so many great songs
Saw him in the early 90s at Six Flags over Georgia, well after his heyday. He and his band did his entire set unplugged and his hits reggae style. The whole place was just dancing and amazed at the re-interpretation of his songs. Still can picture where we sat and how much fun we had. He was a great performer and had the entire audience captivated.
He played in a ball field in The Bronx about 2 years ago, I think he's from The Bronx,,, sorry I missed it, really am
Where the Scream Machine is (Sixflags)
That sounds amazing.
There's a cd, from that time, called "Unplug it In" where Eddie is doing several hits in acoustic. All of his songs sounded amazing & some like Trinidad are the best versions i've ever heard.
@@coolcat6303 thank you for pointing out that album. Didn’t know it existed and just added it to my Spotify.
We have lost so many of our greatest musical idols from our generation in the last 5-10 years.
That's Ronnie Spector , from the 60's band , ' The Ronettes ' ...
Eddie Money - "Two tickets to paradise". BANGER 🔥
Also The Ronnettes (Ronnie Spector) -"Be my baby". 🔥
Sadly the world lost Ms Ronnie today. A unique voice that you can listen to over and over again.
Phil Spector's ex-wife Ronnie Spector singing the "Be my little baby" in the background. She was in a girl group called The Ronnett's' from the 60's. I still have this vinyl LP.
i love how eddie was contractually obligated to write one more song and he threw this together rather quickly and it turned out so well for him!
All you musicians out there never give up, you never know if your "worst song" could be the best of your career!
"Two Tickets To Paradise" is a super catchy fun song to sing. 🎵
Corey Hart always follows next with "I Wear My Sunglasses At Night." 🕶 It's literally now a pop culture statement.
*Spector. SPECTRE was the evil organization that James Bond was up against.
His debut album is still one of the classics of all time .... RIP Edward Mahoney
“Be My Baby” by the Ronettes. Ronnie Spector is the female singer on this, Eddie was paying homage to her. Just a great song.
Damn I miss the 80’s. So much better music and freedom. No one got offended by ANYTHING. So happy I grew up in the 80’s. Awesome teen years
Real Money was the name of his reality show. His entire family was in it.(wife and 5 kids).
2 of his sons, Desmond and Julian, and his daughter ,Jessica ,were in his band.
Eddie Mahoney, aka Money, Brooklyn born badass. Had all of us rockin’. RIP my friend.
The woman is Ronnie Spector, who the song is about.
Eddie Money was fantastic... and He is missed terribly.
"just like Ronnie SANG..."
One of the many great hits by Eddie along with TWO TICKETS TO PARADISE and SHAKIN'. RIP EDDIE your great music lives on.
More Eddie "Money" Mahony: Two Tickets to Paradise
RIP Ronnie. i always loved your voice in this song.
I remember hearing in an interview that it was always a dream of Eddies to be able to Sing with Ronnie, and he was so happy to finally be able to record with her. 😊🥰 RIP EDDIE$
This is the song he refers to, and the woman who is singing backing vocals.
The Ronettes
- Be My Baby

One of my Top 5 80’s songs of all-time. I Love Me Some Money 💵, Eddie Money.
"Give me some water" a great song
Gimme Some Water is another great song by Eddie Money.
I agree! Maybe even the live performance of Gimme Some Water from the 1982 US festival!!
"Indian Reservation" by Paul Revere and the Raiders
Every year, for 30+ years, I kept telling myself I will catch Eddie Money in concert this summer, and I never got around to it. Now It's not meant to be. I have always loved his music, and great to dance to
I think thats the famous Ronnie Spector, sining female vocals,
Correct.
Great loss to us…
You gotta do "Shakin" by Eddie Money.
Rest in Paradise, Ronnie. You were the best. Love that Eddie used the Wall of Sound technique. Ronnie and the Ronettes were the queens of the 60s.
how strange the timing since Ronnie Spector ex-husband passed away in prison reacently and no so long ago I think it was 2019 that Eddie Money passed away as well.
@@tanisdevelopment he may have been a great producer but boy, was he a nasty piece of work. the gun in the studio bit I heard was a rumors about an incident that he forced the Ramones at gun point to agree to have strings on their album or some crazy spit.
Ronnie Spector was the wife of Phil Spector. His wall-of-sound technique made her group stars. She is also in the video.
Check out Eddie Money's song "I Want To Go Back." Its my personal favorite song of his.
I wanna go back and do it all over! Can I?
Back in the day everyone loved Eddie...Awesome song...Awesome calab. with Ronnie Spector...R.I.P....Thanks J. Peace
That was the legendary Ronnie Spector of The Ronettes. The line in the song, "just like Ronnie sang, be my little baby "Was a reference to The Ronettes hit 'Be My Baby" produced by Ronnie spector's husband, the legendary producer Phil Spector (who recently passed..) It was one of the things that made this particular song so special, that she was actually singing that line That was referring to her.
Quik personal story. When this song came out, the major rock station in New York was wnew-fm . Eddie Money was the featured performer at the annual New Year's Eve concert . I had tickets. I remember Saying to my wife as we drove there, "I wonder if Ronnie Spector is going to show up?". Because she was a friend of that station , and that hit was airing On the radio at that time And don't you know ? She absolutely did! And it was freaking awesome!.
BTW, Eddie's first album was one of the first records I ever bought.
Eddie was a NYC cop before he was discovered. The woman is Ronnie Spector lead singer of the 60s girl group The Ronettes. She was also married to infamous record producer Phil Spector
"I Wanna Go Back" another signature Eddie Money song.
RIP Eddie Money he died in September 2019 at 70...Ronnie Spector was married to Phil Spector he wrote and produced many No 1 hits with his innovated Wall of Sound, he abused Ronnie for years and kept her prisoner in his mansion until she escape, many years later he killed a girl and was sent to prison and he died there just this past January 2021 at 81
The woman is Ronnie Spector. Just like Ronnie sang...
"Just like Ronnie said" Ronnie Spector. of the Ronettes... LEGIT some of the most underappreciated pipes in music history.
Ronnie Spector, you know of her even if you don't think so.
Love this song! It's on my 80s playlist. Love my 80s 🎶
Ronnie Spector, the woman singing in the video just passed away today at the age of 78.
RIP Eddie Money and Ronnie Spector and thanks for the great music and memories,
The woman is Ronnie Spector, Phil Spector's ex.
Two tickets to paradise is probably his best known song.
I love Eddie Money. There's a back story to the song...I can't remember it exactly but this song has something to do with the people around him trying to keep him off drugs. May he rest in peace.
Hey, Jamel! The woman singing is Ronnie Spector. She had a group called the Ronnetts, and in 1963 sang the hit "Be My Baby". She is reprising part of the chorus in this song with Eddie. (Side note: did you know Eddie was a NY cop before starting his music career?) Peace, my brother! May all the Blessings of Heaven be yours! (It's fun to watch you youngin's discover music I grew up with!! Keep up the great work!)
When I was a teenager I worked at an amusement park directing traffic here in California. One day when Eddie was going to have a show in the evening I was at the entrance when a limo pulled up to me and stopped, the rear window rolled down and the first thing I saw were a couple of minimally dressed beautiful ladies, then I saw Eddie. He told me who he was and asked where should they go. He was having a great time!
I did a show with Eddie about 6 years ago on a Wednesday night ( I do concert production at a casino) and he literally killed it!!! The showmanship was through the roof. I’ve worked with him a number of times over the years but this night was epic!!!! RIP eddie
I saw an interview on TV where Eddie Money took some his stage persona from the great Mitch "Devil with a blue dress on" Ryder . He also said as a native New Yorker he always wanted to add some New York professionalism style and flash while onstage
I'm surprise you didn't a say anything about Eddie playing the sax
I watched him in Cleveland,at hard rock casino and it was great to see him after all my life listening (born 1980),even played the sax a few times, his daughter was also great on stage,he passed about a year later🌻 rip Eddie Money🌻🎷
I can't believe that wasn't a number 1 hit in 86' and this song will always be at the top of my favorite songs. Number 1 on my list.
