What sounded best to you in the room? So hard understanding pedals, speakers, even when running through stereo. I heard a little more sparkle on top end of gold and bit ballsier on Jensen P12N-was that an original or modern? Thanks for the demo. Been thinking of 2 10"- golds in an old valco 6973 amp. The original Jensen C10R's are a bit anemic. Doesn't make financial sense but what does in this rabbit hole.

The Gold has a smoother top end and is a bit beefier in the lows and low mids. It has a denser more compressed sound. The P12N (this is a modern Italian one) has more of an upper mid bite and is brighter with more detail in the top end. It's more edgy sounding, less compressed, and a lot more airy.
I don't have experience with 10" Jensens, but I do have a 10" AlNiCo Gold in a different amp. It's a nice sounding speaker, though is a different thing than the 12".
Rabbit hole indeed. But I try to buy used, which usually ensures the speaker will be broken in, and also that I can probably make most of the money back if I decide to part with it. Thanks for watching, cheers.

@@fiveightandten Much appreciated-if you ever run into 50’s Jensen 8”Gold alnico’s, snap them up and play them for me. I’m dying to find a quad for my old GA45….why you ask? Cause someone yanked them out of the original baffle and they are as rare as hens teeth. I know harmonica players like them….all few hundred that were ever made. They did put in an old Altec 417 in the GA45 but that is not the right speaker for the circuit. Tip for you…and you may know it already but a deal can be had (for a song, relatively speaking) on the same as the original Jensen P12N but under a different brand-Magnavox P-232. Make sure it is the 50’s that has the huge round alnico magnet as they put out 60’s Magnavox speakers with same designation # but completely different build from later, in the 60’s version. It’s a full, wide open speaker with a lot of clarity and bite. Very full sounding, but grinds when pushed. I’ve put in two now-one in a Reverberocket and the other in a Gibson Falcon. Strangely, they both work well in very different amps. Actually, Ive bought three now and all better than what came in each amp. I bought a 15” version cause why not? Have yet to cut a baffle. Ampeg bound! Thanks for the feedback and for posting.

The gold and the p12n sound more alike than the SC75 and the S75 Scumbacks. In this video I think the gold sounds better. Would like to have heard you mix it up with a humbucker guitar and medium to high gain. But your not getting paid so I appreciate what you have done which was done very well.

Thanks for watching glad you dig it. I'll keep humbuckers in mind for next time. Usually when I post videos like this, it's to help someone out on The Gear Page forums, so I use the kind of guitar they're using.
