Ya this spot hasn’t really disappointed ever. The glacier stopped and melted in our area and have left glacier depressions and bogs that the feeder creeks run through I love getting the garnets my self ✌🏻
Far as a pan goes I like the Garrett super sluice pan for out looking. it has a couple real nice riffles that allows you to really move some material with out loosing it. I like a large bottom pan in blue when I’m going through concentrates. The large bottom gives you a better window to see the fine stuff and the blue makes it stand out better for me. Also get a snuffer bottle to take it out of the pan and collecting in the field Garret has a nice one also. And a shovel. That would be a good step to get out there and start looking and figuring it out. Hope that’s what you were looking for if not let me know always glad to help in anyway ✌🏻⛏️✨✨ heavy pans!!!
I actually go all over Michigan mainly in the lower From the lower part of Michigan to the bridge. There is a little gold all over the state. I do best in smaller feeder creeks it seems. But I have found gold in ever river or creek I have looked in so far. Not every spot but every creek. Some definitely better than others. But I’m sure you find a little color if you go out looking. The more you go the more you will figure out where the river is depositing it. Wish you luck and let me know how you do✌🏻⛏✨
Just starting out with my 9 year old grandson. Me got a panning set for his birthday. Any suggestions for locations? We live in the Thumb, Lexington l, Michigan. Thank you!
That’s awesome!! I have never searched thumb area. There is Little bits about everywhere. I like the little feeder creeks myself easier to work and I seem to do good. Inside bends and start looking where river will drop gravel deposits both great places to start. You’ll find some! We also have garnets so keep your eye out for that. Found gold in the beach sand on Huron in tawas area. Black and red sands on the beach holds gold. Fun way to get them involved!! Going out with my grandkids this week. I wish you guys luck my friend!!!! ✌🏻⛏️✨✨✨
