Enjoyed the journey thru time, well done. Will share the link with my church group ;)
I always kinda wanted to know your journey, it inspires me as well teaches me to slow down a bit and not over extend myself financially. And to enjoy as I go
Thanks brother
Absolutely enjoy the journey. Take your time. Enjoy each step of your journey
@@Youthman Michael, I appreciate all of your advice, experience, and content. This is the reason I am reaching out to you. If possible could I contact you by personal message, since I do not have social media. Thank you .
I'm only 24, but this is essentially how I got my home theatre started 5 years ago from bartering and buying used gear from the projector to the acoustic panels being made. Very relatable story and awesome content!
Awesome!
This is how it goes, I have been building my surround sound since 7th grade 👍
Me too. I remembered back then when I was accidentally connected my stereo speakers in quadraphonic surround circuit. Days after that I got my first 5 channel surround sound from just 2 channel Sansui tuner/amplifier. Back then I was 12.
Been saving up $100 per month for some time that way when I get into a house instead of a hotel I’ll be able to start building my home theatre
Keep us updated on your progress. Will be nice to see it finished.
Man! I wish I had documented my journey like you have. I also started out small in my studio apartment and now I have a dedicated room in my basement. Not quite your level but I am super pleased. Good vid I enjoyed it a lot.
My first home theater was a Sherwood Home Theater in a box. It's all about getting your foot in the door then learning how to optimize what you have in your room before making the next evolutionary step.
Loved this video. You came along way from the beginning and now your room is an inspiration to to what’s possible with enough time , effort and patience. Thank you and keep up the great work.
Very cool that that you have pictures from all the way back in the day (even when there wasn't much to take a picture of). Amazing video Michael
I don't know why it took so long for this to show up in my feed, but I'm glad it did! You have such a such an entertaining way of bringing us along with you on your journey. I was genuinely surprised at how modest your beginnings were. The amount of thought, effort, and patience that went into getting from there to here is an inspiration.
Thank you so much Steven I appreciate the kind words. It’s been a fun journey and I’m grateful to be able to share that with everyone
That is one crazy journey! I really appreciate you sharing this and taking the time to put this together. You are assume!
Honestly when I started watching reviews of home theaters I also thought "must be nice to be rich!" But I realized if you save up, have patience, and more importantly, have the wife approval factor, you can slowly build a great set up. (you gotta have the WAF 🤣) My wife and i now have an amazing 5.2.4 dedicated home theater set up and guess what? NO...you don't have to be rich! Love this video! Thank you for sharing.
You’re exactly right James. It’s funny how many times I see that same comment in my videos. I’m far from being rich. I’m just patient
@@Youthman We all know you got millions of dollar stash behind your screen..
Lol!! Its all about the wife’s approval then you go working your way up 🤣💪🏽
@@felixarzuaga5805 that is why I choose to be single. I don't have to worry about WAF
@@sj7624 i am sure that's the reason 😅
You've made many great videos over the years but this is probably my favorite. Anyone who has been on this journey knows what you say is true. You don't need to be rich, only creative and patient. Great work Michael!
Thank you John. I appreciate the kind words and am glad you enjoyed the video
This is a great story Youthman. Thanks for sharing it with us. My first "home theater" in my living room had a 36" RCA CRT TV, Cerwin Vega FLR that I purchased in the 80's for music, Realistic center and surround, Sony 10" sub, and Yamaha receiver. Yup, patchwork, but I couldn't afford all new stuff. My favorite movie to demo was The Mask of Zorro. The intro was cool and the explosion near the end rocked the room. Many years have passed as I have swapped out different pieces for what I have today in my dedicated theater room.
Thanks for doing this video. My dad got me hooked on hifi and home theater, and this takes me down memory lane from the early days of rack systems to two channel systems.
Michael you have a very nice home theater I enjoyed that incredible fun journey ,God bless you.
Great Video! My own passion for Home Theatre started when my dad bought me first Panasonic Video CD player with entire 5 speaker setup back in 1998!
Really great story. I started watching for a few minutes and found myself hanging in for the full journey!
Amazing journey mate! A lot of changes and upgrades in this never endying story of building a Home Theater! Really honest review and thats why i love your videos! Keep inspiring us Michael!
This video hits home to my heart and really took me back to old memories of my first setups. More importantly you helped me come back to reality and be patient with my new/current setup and it's issues.
Really enjoyed this. Thank you
That’s awesome. Sometimes we get caught up in trying to reach the end goal.
I always tell people to enjoy the journey.
This is so humbling. I want to build my full home theater one day and this really makes it seem so attainable. I appreciate your passions and UA-cam channel Michael
I remember the first home theater I was ever introduced to. It was a space a friends dad had built and these pics take me back to that time! Especially the granite base Velo sub! Great to see the history you’ve gone thru!
Really great video, thank you for sharing. I often look at home theaters and wonder how that person got to where they are and how their home theater came about. Well, this video answers that question. Your video helps inspire others, including myself, to envision what a room could be given some planning and forethought. My home theater right now is a part of the living room. But given time, through research and planning I hope to have something I could be proud to share with family and friends. Much like your home theater.
Wow one of your best videos. I enjoyed seeing 15 years of work and how you really worked hard to get there.
GREAT GREAT Vid youth man. Love to see the build up and journey to your set up. Very important for those just starting out. Have Patience and build build build.
That was a cool story, gives me some hope that I can get my theater done by the end of this year.
This is sooooo motivating! Thank you for sharing this!
This is inspirational to watch this video and see how far you have come. God couldn’t have blessed a better man. Thank you for taking the time to shoot this video. It’s been a long journey for you.
Simply amazing what patience, dedication, craftsmanship and not least, a supporting spouse can give You!
Great job!
And now I need to go to my own (much smaller but i love it)Home Cinema and enjoy my life.
Thanks again for your fantastic ability to deliver authentic enthusiasm, down to earth and understandable tech reviews and this "If I can do it, you can to" mentality!
Love it :-)
I really enjoyed this. When I first saw your channel I was blown away and immediately thought the theater must cost a fortune! It's nice that you showed the journey and that just like many things in life is not an overnight success story, you've got to work to get to where you want to be. Beautiful work, and awesome end result.
My favorite of your videos so far… love the video!!! Thanks for all you do
This year i was finally able to upgrade my AVR to a more updated version and also buy a new powered subwoofer, which improved the sound quality by quite a bit. Honestly i remember when this channel was small and had no more than 5k subs, and remember seeing all this great gear being reviewed, and it finally opened my eyes to the Home Theater world, which enabled me to have a new goal to look forward to. It has been a journey, and i'm glad to be a part of it. You should be proud of what you have achieved, along with all the people that follow you!
Thank you kindly. It’s been an incredible journey and I love all of the people that has supported me along the way
great video you have to start somewhere what a great experience thru out the years.....thanks for shairing keep up the great content
Once again another inspiring video Me and My Wife watched Your video last night and you put into words and video what I'm trying to get her to see That it's a journey not a race and I love they way you showed Your progression so that she see's that it's a process and having a vision and staying true to it I love It thank You for the motivation and please keep the great content coming God Bless You 💯💯💯
Thank you Abe. Good luck with your own journey. God bless
Love your journey and thanks for sharing this! I have a "theater room" which has been defunct for 3 years but this has given me new motivation to do a piece at a time!!! Thank You!
Do it! Honestly it’s comments like yours Jim that motivate me to continue making more content for you guys.
Great video of your home cinema journey. I think the most of us who watch your Chanel can identify with your journey of upgrading your home cinema. My home cinema started with a stereo setup and small tv, and only got bigger and with more speakers. Now I’m planning a dedicated home cinema room.
It was 1988. I bought a Sanyo 26 inch stereo tv. Got a svhs vcr. Bought 4 Realistic speakers that were made my Acoustic Research. Paired to a Dolby Pro Logic Optimus receiver. Raiders of the Lost Ark never sounded so good😁
Many iterations later im getting the Sony 715ES installed tomorrow. Oh.. In my 1st theater in my garage i still have the same Panasonic hanging but haven't watched in 2 years since building a room on the back of my house. Glad to see your dreams coming true and ever evolving.
I seen this video and now after a few days the verdict is in, this is one of the most brilliant UA-cam videos I've ever seen, and it has nothing to do with theater, audio or video it is the fact that you were able to take a large room and make it look like a grand hall and give the feeling that I'm actually in a real movie theater, a room 10 times bigger than it actually is, BRAVO.
I appreciate the kind words Steve. My hope is that my room is an inspiration to all regardless of the size or budget of your room. I truly believe everyone can have a home theater
Thanks Youthman for sharing your experience on your journey to building your dream home theater. I had the similar experience going back to 28 years ago when I had my first pro logic surround system. And the rest is history for me.
Thanks! That was awesome!
I got all my stuff used and I love it so far. Your an inspiration! I appreciate it !
Glad to hear I have inspired you in your home theater journey!
Brilliant... It reminds me of my beginnings with High-end home cinema... I enjoyed it from start to finish. Very nice for anyone who wants to start with .......................................... ................. Oohh yeah... Thank you and above all continue with High-end home cinema... Greetings from the Netherlands Limburg Maastricht...
Peace and love✌😘😉👌👍
that last picture just seeing the image quality like wow. really enjoyed the journey
Love this video! For most of us, getting the home theater we truly want will take a journey of saving, learning, patience, upgrading, and time. But it's all worth in the end. Keep ur journey going...never stop!
You are 100% James! It takes all of those
It's all about the journey... great video bud
Thanks for sharing your journey! I really enjoyed watching this. Gives me inspiration
So glad to hear that.
Awesome video! Good job taking pictures over the years.
Great video thanks for taking us on your journey, I am definitely inspired.
Wow thank you for the insight on transitioning through your set-up.
Inspiring, looking forward to adopting spirit on a future project! Thanks for taking us along for the ride🤘🏻
Been following your channel for more than two years now. Keep up the greatness there Mr Youthman!
Thank you for the kind words Bob
This was an epic episode! Thank you so much
This was amazing! And so interesting 👍
Great Ride! Thanks for putting together this video and sharing your Home Theater journey.
Glad you enjoyed it Sean. Have a blessed weekend.
Super super cool! Thanks for sharing your journey!
I’m glad you enjoyed it
Your channel and this video is very inspirational. My love for home theater started in my late teens when my parents saw my brother's and I's love for movies. They bought us a Koss all in one 5.1 surround sound system. In hindsight it was a terrible system but back then when I first heard it I was in awe and from that point on I've become a big fan of home theater. Right now I have a Klipsch system it's not the greatest but it's like you say to just enjoy what you have instead of worrying about the next big thing. I know one day I'll have the system of my dreams but right now I'm gonna enjoy what I have because at the end of the day that's what it's all about.
Thank you for the kind words Marquez. I recently made another video somewhat similar to this that you might enjoy as well. ua-cam.com/video/Y0DblxUQdyM/v-deo.html
That was dope Man! It’s nice to see some else’s journey! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Wow it's amazing where you were to now it's good that people see where you were that way they realize what it takes to have a dedicated room you are right patient is the key I believe one day I'll have a dedicated room but it will take time
Thanks. I’m looking forward to doing a tour of your new theater room once you get the new JTR’s
Awesome job, very inspiring. I just getting started. I am taking in every single detail and advice to make ours.
Crazy inspiring story, thank you so much for sharing. I'm a gotta have it now person. This video has made me think about things a bit!! Thank you!!
Glad you found the video helpful
Great video! I'm hoping my next home has a room I can use as a theater room. Right now just a makeshift movie wall in the basement. But you make do with what you have and enjoy it until you can upgrade! Thanks for your story.
Great journey you have been on. It is a great setup and it is really inspiring to see the proces you have been through.
I am living in an appartment and I feel I have reach the limit of how big a system I can build without neighbour war :D
Got a SVS subwoofer on 2 inch cork plates to prevent the bass desturbing my neighbours, and my front Monitor Audio is on cork too driven by a Marantz reciever producing lovely warm sound. The neighbours have stated that they do not experience being desturbed by sound/bass noise as usual after cork installment. I did use cork at the bagend of my listening room too, the mid and upper sound range and acoustics have defantly changed for the better, as far as I can hear. I do not have any equipment to measure if cork do make an acoustic diference.
Probably my favorite of your videos.😃👍🏾 Your opening line about it taking time is a point that is often overlooked. My own journey started back in 2006, when we moved into the house. Just like you, I found the room and given the barn shaped ceiling, i used tape and old door moldings to spec out how big of a screen i could put up. The framing stayed up and sitting in front of it was my 36 inch Mitsubishi 4:3 flat screen, Yamaha RX-V995, PS3, and JBL SCS125 sub and satellite kit. From that point on there have been some gradual changes based on need and some based on wants. At every point, I try to make sure that I give it time to sink in. Going from not knowing how to make proper use of the settings on my then Yamaha RX-V995, to now using the minidsp 2x4HD and REW to time align subs even before running the AVR calibrations from my Pioneer Elite SC-99 ,etc. Most people that don't know the journey think that these systems come together over night (they don't). Thanks for sharing your journey.
Thank you kindly
Nice video, enjoyed the seeing how you transitioned. What about a review on the JTR subs and how you tuned them!
Awesome info! Congratulations on getting a cool theater in place!
Thanks for taking time and sharing this.
Thank you kindly
@@Youthman where in FL are you? ( I am in Tampa). Would love to connect with you and keep in touch.
Loving your channel already!
I’m in Plant City
Really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing :)
Thank you Youthman, for creating this video. I’ve been feeling exactly the way you describe lately. Seeing these 50k, 100k, 800k home theaters has gotten me thinking I’ll never finish. Fortunately I do have a room I can use for a dedicated theater. I’m working tapering and bedding right now and have a long way to go.
Absolutely excited for you and your journey. Everyone can have a home theater. Just be OK with taking your time, building it to your desires and meeting your budget
Thanks for the tour. I really enjoyed learning about your journey.
Thank you
This is encouraging. Starting out with a bonus room in a new house we are building. Starting out with LCR, and rear channels in the ceiling because it was the most cost effective but plan to change them to Atmos speakers once I can get ear level speakers for LCR. Love the channel and can't build up piece by piece.
Fun video to watch man. Those jtrs are looking great
Thank you
YAY
Great video. When you climb a mountain you have to look back and see how far you have come. Video reminds me of when my parents bought a 65in Mitsubishi tv. Had to build a cabinet around it because it weighed 315 lbs. and was not moving.
Thank you for sharing the evolution of your cinema and congratulations on what you have achieved. often cinema👏👏👍
This is one of my favorite Youthman videos. I wish more enthusiasts would document the journey and follow suit as well. Hopefully they will. My journey has begun as I recently purchased the OSD Black in ceiling height speakers. Special thanks to Mike.
Vast amount of content and knowledge. You deserve more views and subscribers. Cheers!
Thank you for the kind words Joshua. Slow and steady on my way to 100,000 subscribers.
Amazing video on your home-theater journey Youthman. It's inspiring! While the availability of equipment and surrounding factors are quite different in my part of the world, I completely relate to patience, planning, and the stages over time to get from something very basic, to something impressive. Truly a pursuit of passion!
Thank you for the kind words
Yeeeey!!!
You did it Mike, this is the video I've been waiting for!!!
Now I have some hope after seeing this amazing journey of yours.
Best regards and blessings from Mexico 🇲🇽
Awesome video , i started even before surround even started i had my speaker B's behind me as rears just for the effect ..lol , with a 19" tv ..lol then to my new home i got a 52" then a 60" then a 106" projector screen and i loved every transition.
Your finished product with the JBL La Scalas and those subs, the way it looks with that blue lighting coming down and the rise-up screen, is what got me wanting to build a dedicated home theater in my basement similar to yours. Then I realized it'd be better to move and find somewhere with higher than 8.5" ceilings either on the first floor or basement, but soon after, the lockdowns hit and prices skyrocketed for new homes. At this point, I'm making due with a projector home theater in my bedroom and an 83" LG OLED TV in family room, but this kind of setup is my dream!
Thank you kindly. Keep dreaming. One day it will become a reality.
I stated in 1994 with a 19" Magnavox TV and a JVC VHS player hooked up to a JVC Dolby Pro-Logic receiver paired with two 10" MTX box speakers... I watched many movies on that setup for about 6-8 months or so, and then added a small Kipsch center channel and some MTX bookshelf speakers for my surrounds to have my first official "surround sound" setup! And once I heard sound effects coming from behind me while watching Jurassic Park and Twister, my whole world changed! Lol
What a journey and now looks great.
Great learning journey and use of sweat equity as well. Will look below to see current electronics and sources.
I just tore my HT out, kept the SVS SB3000 subs, went with a pair of KLH Model 5's a Cambridge CXN V2 Streamer and the XTZ Edge A2-400 amp. That is it, two pieces of gear and 4 speakers/subs. I hate to say this, but it blows away my SVS Ultra 5.2 system with two Emotiva XPA amps. All gone, replaced with a Pangea Vulcan Audio rack reduced to three shelves holding the streamer and amp. Very clean looking and is unobtrusive in the room. Very happy.
Excellent video Youthman! Very informative and inspiring.
Thank you Chris
His first setup is basically todays equivalent of my setup, this guy has such a great attitude and he's so right, he says exactly what ive been telling myself, "just be patient" . Well i can happily say i got my first 2 pair of klipsch speakers today (4 speakers btw), I am so happy and i don't envy this man at all i envy the hustle and just like him im moving on to the next. surround sound reciever that dosen't burn out in a year because it cost my soul here i come!!!
That’s fantastic Austin. I’m truly happy for you brother. Take your time and enjoy every step of the process.
Amazing Journey !! Can totally relate to this. Mine has just started and trying to see how I can arrive at the target JTR destination with as few stops as possible...the biggest challenge being WAF at this point ;-)
this took me a few hours to watch as i got busy a few times and had to leave but i really enjoyed it. it was like a documentary for us thanks man i really appreciate it
Glad you enjoyed the video
Some real good ideas and information. I currently have x4 Klipsch RP-600Ms, x1 Klipsch RP 404-C, x1 SVS PB-2000 along with a Denon X3700H AVR. This was my first plunge into real home theatre/hifi and I am NOT disappointed. The two things you've got me debating now are getting custom cabinets made, and also using a projector. I'll have to do some comparisons against higher end OLED TVs as long as screen size is adequate. More research is needed...
Appreciate the video
I really enjoyed your amazing journey story. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Thank you retro force. Have a great weekend
This was a really fun video to watch. I've gone through several phases in living situations and levels of home theater setup, wish I would have documented it like you did. I'm nowhere near at your level, but home theater is a fun hobby and I enjoyed watching your journey. Looking to make some improvements in my setup this year. Still rocking a 1080p projector and a 7.1 true hd receiver.....been looking into atmos and separate processors/amps and 4k projection. Not sure whether I'll start with audio or video there. At the end of the day it's all about the enjoyment you get out of it and home theaters are FUN. Cheers
Thank you kindly. Enjoy the journey
Loved this more than any other video.
I, much like you have some kick ass things.. but it's not because i am rich. I certainly do Ok.. but it's been how I prioritize my spending and doing things incrementally. I have not chased the newest options and found some incredible deals used or on sale. It's been a long process and many steps along the way.
The great thing, nobody cares. I go over to a friend's house who is just starting and everyone roles up thier sleeves to share their knowledge and have fun doing some work together. It's nice just to have something to connect on these days...
Glad you enjoyed the video. Well said Chris.
Wow what a journey. I love it! I do want to ask about the amps and other gear etc would like to see a video on that. Last if I was going to make a change it would be the carpet and the popcorn machine.
Holy crap this was so fun to watch. Thank you for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it Adam
What great video, you right is a long journey when we don’t have the funds right way, mine toke a long time too, I remember I started with a Sony tv the first flat screen and a all in one box Panasonic home theater.
Is not only saving to buy new things but also knowledge and make more educated decisions.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching
Nice job Michael!!! I used to work at Highland Superstores, Silo, and Fretter WAY back when! And then Best Buy when they first came to the Chicago area. It absolutely amazing how technology has changed over the past 30+ years.
I had 2 60GB PS3 that had YLOD! The first was covered under warranty, but no the second. I’d still like to get it repaired at some point so it could be used as an SACD player. Too bad my Panasonic 820 won’t play those. It works magic for DVD and BluRay!
Fantastic video! I really appreciate you sharing your journey. It's encouraging that you also didn't buy the most expensive setup from the beginning, but instead built your system over years. Not sure if I'll ever have a set of La Scalas, but my Klipsch Reference Premiers have been doing the job.
Thank you. Keep in mind, my LaScalas were 40 years old. Anyone can afford those, even if you have to save up a bit. The newer ones are WAY more pricey
Loved the video! What a wonderful journey! We’ve been rocking our home theater for about 16 years now as well & it’s time to make some changes. I’ve made upgrades to my equipment and speakers over the years, but I’m ready to give the room a fresh look. I’ve still got the same old red & black scheme going on, very similar to what you had. I guess that was the desired look back then! 😂😂
It was popular back then. I was hesitant to change it but absolutely love the grey color scheme now. If you are in the US and need pricing on speakers or AV gear, feel free to reach out to me at youthmanreviews.com/sales/
Once again simply! 👏 from England 🇬🇧
So many nostalgic items ❤️❤️😍🥰
What a journey brother!!!!! Very similar to my journey!!! Mine is about to start over! Lol. I really enjoyed the video!!!
Can't wait to see what you come up with next 😉👌👍
I will stay tuned 🤘
Thank you for sharing. Everyone needs a hobby. As much as i enjoy Cinema, my goal is to hear classical music at it's finest.
This is difficult as the recording/ mastering plays a huge role.
Watching this has given me some good ideas.
Great result.
