    Thanks Lance, great video.

that's about what i see. the voltage sag is expected.. it's a low cell count battery.
i have a dual battery setup, a second 14ah. voltage sag is basically non existent now and i measured 20 miles at just over 50% based on voltage.
i use a key display after market display so i can see wattage and voltage instead of just bars. (this is basically the display that himiway uses)
takes the guess work out even if you are going with one battery and getting significant sag.

Thanks for the info. I may make a few changes in the future.

That’s good results right there. Lance does it feel like a good cruiser? Have you made any modifications to allow for an upright ride?

With the shorter wheel base it is a very nimble bike, but very smooth riding when you just want to cruise. I installed a new handlebar that gives it a 3.5 inch rise and is wider at 30.7 inches. I also put my Suntour suspension seat post and C9 Saddle on and removed racks, fenders and headlight for off-road riding, and to fix the wobble issue. In this setup it does make the most comfortable bike I have so for cruising.

Lance, most of these ebike displays have very basic battery bars which operate based on the voltage of the battery. But as you’ve experienced, they are not the most accurate! And can fluctuate quite a bit, depending on your battery. When you are draining power from the battery, the voltage “sags”. When you are not using the battery, that’s the “resting voltage”, some people will estimate state of charge based on that. But if you want to most accurately measure the battery State of charge, it requires something that can measure the power being drained from the battery. Either an inexpensive “watt meter” can be wired inline between the motor controller and battery, or there may be a different display which can measure the power being discharged. But a watt meter ismaybe 10$ and it would be able to tell you, you’ve used exactly 12.50 amp hours , or watt hours, or whatever. That’s also how you would test the capacity of your battery, is measure how many amp hours you can drain from it. Then in the future you measure again, to see the “health” Of your battery, or the percent of its original capacity that’s remaining.

the voltage measuring is accurate. mapping voltage to battery bars may not be...
but measuring the sag is still a helpful metric once you learn what to expect out of the design of your battery and how hard you use it. lots of sag indicates you are stressing it beyond its happy discharge rate. and in the end, if you go below the low volt cutoff, it will turn off regardless of if that occurs due to sag or not.
easiest way to reduce or eliminate the problem is adding more cells to share the load. generally by adding another battery. the stock xpeak battery is definitely running past it's happy state when you are pulling 20-24 amps. is much happier when you have half going to another battery and it only sees a max of about 12 amps.
i have extremely little sag in my setup now.

Thanks for the video. I am a 6ft 250 pound guy. I'm wondering how it does on steep hills for you.

I need to find a mix of steep hills to test it out. I have to wait until they open up the trails in the hills to test that out.

Hi Lance, nice video on the throttle only. My bike setup is basically like yours, which I finally got. I also removed the fenders. But I also removed the worthless upgraded headlight, which in my opinion, the upgraded headlight is not good for me, but the headlight is ok if you want to be noticed, but I like to see where I am riding at night. I am currently installing a second battery on the bike because I like the long-range. I also replaced the thumb throttle lever with a thumb throttle.

Sounds like you are getting your bike dialed into to how you like it.

i went dual battery and switched the stock throttle over to the left side. it's flipped upside down so it's a finger throttle now. i like it better than thumb, because you can reach it and the brakes without having to shift your hand at all.
but it mostly just frees up the right side for my replaced shifter. I'm using a rapid shifter. so now my cockpit is evenly distributed on the left and right. and looks less busy.

SobI bought this bike high step version with extra free long range battery if I take it to work which is 17 miles one way I should be ok on a round trip with two batteries ?

Throttle only can get uncomfortable because of no foot pressure on the pedals and legs supporting your body, The shock from bumps all goes to your saddle.

Yeap. I was ready to get off the bike after 23 miles. Fortunately I do have a suspension seat post to help some.
