So many feelings and sounds! I can’t.............the beauty....the soothing yet rejuvenation and elation and sorrow all at once 😱 The waves.... Some of their best yet. Totally floored, this band is incredible!!
Imagine my joy when I find this song from a band I’ve never heard of and now I get to go dig through ten years of history to find how they arrived at this magic. It’s my lucky day.
I'm going through a really hard time right now , my mom passed away . and we both really love their songs and we would listen to them all the time . so now I'm planning on learning all the lyrics and go sing it to her .
Wow these lyrics are so poetic: "but i am filled to the head /of unsayable things that i dont/ want to forget" and "i was born and survived by some cold inner space/til you called out and told me i belonged in this place/and when my body was splayed out in a miracle mile/“let ‘em catch me and kill me let them take me in style”". Like holy heck that's incredibly beautiful.

I don't actually think there is one Gang of Youths song that I don't like; every single one is perfect. Thanks for existing, you guys got me through some really rough times! Lots of love from Surrey!
i was high as hell at like 2am, watched this, cried, then walked to the park and danced in the moonlight to this song. 10/10 recommend. your music speaks directly to the soul. thankyou.
I love Dave's dancing it's so liberating and exuberant (and were those some Polynesian moves in there? if so that's amazing). Complements the euphoric build up of the music perfectly. This is the highlight of my lockdown thanks gang of youths :))))))
Yes it is Polynesian, a Samoan “siva” to be precise. There’s also reference to “swimming it up like assholes in -Sinalei-“ a beach resort in Samoa (not sponsored) When he starts dancing you’ll hear a Polynesian choir enter the mix.

The fact that Gang of Youths are making music in the vein of Elbow genuinely makes my life. Now to get Dave and Guy in the same room and magic would happen
this song is just like a ray of sunshine. It was raining where I was, and I was really feeling down. now this just made my day. when I listened to this, I immediately felt better- it feels just like getting a warm hug from your favorite person.
This EP is possibly some of the most moving music I've heard in a really, really long time. I have a bad habit of listening to fairly sad music but this EP genuinely fills me with so much joy and love it is frankly a bit startling. It feels like a personal love letter, like things past, present, and future all in one saying "you made it, and you will keep making it". I wish I could send this song to a younger version of myself. I hope one day someone will come into my life that makes me feel the way this song (and the rest on the EP) do. I can't believe you've all managed to make some of the most heart-wrenching music (Achilles Come Down) I've ever heard then turned around and made songs I wish I could take to the grace with me just to be buried with the kind of love in these songs. Now to pivot in a completely different direction: I could watch Dave dance for hours and in fact, I make the humble request that he one day dance all the way through this song lol.
Was shocked this never took off on triple j and didn’t get played enough to reach the masses. I’m convinced this should’ve been top 10 in the hottest 100. An absolute masterpiece
It’s like I go into this weird trance or something when I hear this incredible music (listening on Spotify a t m) 😝 I find myself still listening to the same 3 songs 3 hours later!!! Big, big love guys!!! 🥰 And thank you!!! 🙏 🙏
Just to think that i "accidentaly" saw them perform 2 years ago while doing the opening for Mumford and Sons.. Now i'm dying to see them on purpose! The joy they bring to my soul..
Have been slaying this tasty number on streaming services for the last few days. A real credit to the band evolving through the departure of Joji, as this sounds familiar, yet new. That building, intricate, triumphant blend of storytelling through lyricism and musicianship is ever present. Note: Donnie - your drumming sounds really invigorated here. Lads have come a long way from the band I first saw at the Unibar on North Terrace. Dave's dance moves are the same though. Still the most inspiring dad-at-a-bbq shape cutter around.
The only way I can describe the feeling that this band gives me is floaty existential completeness (if that makes any sense) and it doesn’t even describe it just right, idk it’s just amazing, I love you guys
How come I've only just heard this band? Heard a track on radio X yesterday and was hooked. I now have the very wonderful opportunity of being able to play every track i can find for the very first time. I'm pretty sure that will be like being hit by a bolt of magic over and over.
