This is the type of music that makes you want to keep living. Even when you feel like all hope is lost. Their music gives me light. Infuses my bones with life.
word. it's like most of their songs were written for people that is on the verge of giving up. and they reach to tell them "hey it's gonna be ok dude. you're not alone ". truly bands like these can save a life.
Amen to that.. There's hints of Bruce Springsteen, Jamie cullam, temper trap.. Positive vibe that just lifts the spirit.. A friend forwarded it to me, utterly perfect
“This song came about after I struggled with writer’s block for a year, barely managing to etch out more than a single verse of something awful the whole time. I was walking home across the Brooklyn Bridge one night, questioning my place in the world, contemplating giving up music and doing something more substantial. I sort of felt that I wasn’t doing anything that actually mattered. But I looked out at the skyline, all silvery and strange and in typical self-indulged frontman fashion, I began to revel in this moment of abandon, of self-hate. As a result, I think I stumbled across a kind life-affirming axiom; that in a cosmos potentially absent of meaning, and an existence devoid of objective value, I have an opportunity to invent my own meaning. We all do. We can ascribe meaning and value to our own lives and in a way, attribute great esteem and value to each other as a result. All of us as adults, from youth to old age are drunk, stumbling around in the dark looking for a kebab. I’m scared and unsure, and I want to acknowledge this rather than repress it, or allow cynics to denigrate me because of it. So the song is about becoming more human, more aware and I guess in a way, more alive.” - Dave Le'aupepe, singer for Gang of Youths
this song rips my heart open every time, and lets the love pour out. It reminds me that if the only thing I get right in this life is to love, then that's good enough
"To be wanted with truth, and make formidable love. See light in myself that I see inside everyone else I know". Those lyrics get me every time. Bring me to tears. So raw. Truthful. And beautiful.
UA-cam recommended me "Achilles, Come Down" and here I am, listening to their other songs. Their songs are hella good and got me feeling something but in a good way
Heard this band last night in a bar in Brussels. I just can't believe how good this album is. In 8 years I haven't felt like this for any music or artist. Just unbelieveable.
This song makes me self reflect so hard but most importantly it's triumphant and it gives me courage. This song almost brings me to tears, or well... It at least makes it hard to swallow for me. Just because this song speaks to me so stupidly much it's like he is basically telling me to chin up and embrace the absurdity of it all instead of hiding all of it away.
A song so infinitely comforting to listen to during low points these past couple of years. This song for me is yet another reason why life is worth living.
That moment at the end of the song when the drums subside and it’s just David’s voice singing the refrain with electric guitar - special moment - gets me every time
What a song. Reminds me of simpler times and makes me take a step back in life and reflect. The talent that just keeps on giving from the land down under it makes me proud to be Australian. Inxs was fantastic , a world class band and now gangs of youth. These guy are the equivalent to Mumford & sons. Thank you Gang of Youths for releasing top notch , top quality music 👌
Thanks to my little brother I got into this beautiful band. What a song! Listening to it the whole day. It already is one of my favorite 30 songs of all time.
I've heard this song sometimes before. That time this beauty didn't catch me. But today I've listened this song for more than 20 times. Still can't get enough of it. To those with inferiority complex, You're not alone. We all aren't born to be great. It's okay live simply and than die.
My daughter found this amazing band a few weeks ago .I'm 56 and totally hooked on them. Have yet to find a song of theirs i don't like. My girls already got tickets to go see them. Amazingly talented .
Fav band. For real. I’m the most atheist you can be and I still love this band. They put so much emotion in their music. The instrumentation alone makes you swell with emotion. Then the words the lyrics are so beautiful and real and raw and emotional. Just absolutely fantastic and I wish they got the attention they deserve. They aren’t nearly as big enough as they should be.
'Cause not everything means something, honey So say the unsayable, say the most human of things And if everything is temporary I will bear the unbearable, terrible triteness of being' Those have to be the best lyrics I have ever heard.
How have I not already obsessed over this band?! I feel like I missed out not hearing about them in time. Oh well, obsession started! Will obsess harder to make up for the time lost.
This is one of the best songs ever crafted. Getting to see it performed live twice on two different sides of the world is a privilege very few will have the opportunity to experience. Getting to do Farm work in New Zealand allowed me to see land similar to what is displayed in the music video. This song is in my top 10 favourite, without a doubt.
EPIC. 1st heard this on a plane headrest TV flying across the world. In a sleep ridden stupor I swore to look up this song when home - subsequently forgot the name for a year. Now I pimp this song and video once a month.
I was there too. Got to admit, they took over the place of my favorite band from M&S. Was so excited to see them at the festival this summer. Now that has to wait at least another year.
I still have Davos first ever CD from his first band blam valiums from when he was about 17 that has songs that still get stuck in my head the guy is a truly talented songwriter
I just discovered this band thanks to a streaming service. I love it! the lyrics and music connect with you in a way that I hadn't experience in decades. Beautiful work! Cheers from El Salvador!
Strap in and hold onto your heart , mind and soul because you've just entered the emotional spin cycle of love and life! Don't be afraid of the feels, IT'S REAL!!!!!! I LOVE THIS BAND!!!!!! thank you for LIVING!
I'd just like to say this is quite frankly, hands bloody down, the band that actually writes massively emotive and powerful music that seriously raises the spirits... Long live the Gang....
Honestly, all I wanna do is run. Run like a carefree child. Run on an empty field as long as I can, the breeze against my face, the wind playing with my hair, the sun smiling at me.
You should I've had some good moments by myself running on an empty field or long quiet roads around nice landscapes just make sure to bring some water in the long runs
This thought “not everything’s means something” came into my head while I was a lil lit. So I googled it and that’s what brought me here. Now I’m gonna subscribe.
This band makes me feel alive .the first band in awhile not to talk shit say nothin and give some music a kick ass feeling and bring good music back off the shelf
Love this as does my 3 month old baby: I play this when it is time for her feed and she goes crazy! Please come back to Scotland soon. Missed your Trnsmt slot last year but hopefully you'll be playing the main stage next time :-)

This comment man.. Wauw! I can imagine it. Life has surprises at times unbelievable. Have a nice day, driver!
What was his advice, I'm dying to know?

Much love from a fellow poet and philosopher.
this song rips my heart open every time, and lets the love pour out. It reminds me that if the only thing I get right in this life is to love, then that's good enough
His voice is so incredible...it's like being wrapped in the warmest, most wonderful hug imaginable
GIven his range is so wide at times that wonderful hug can turn into something that strangles you.
"To be wanted with truth, and make formidable love.

Those lyrics get me every time. Bring me to tears. So raw. Truthful. And beautiful.
All good bro. Well said
These guys' lyrics are on another plane. I haven't heard such well written, poetic lyricism in ages.
UA-cam recommended me "Achilles, Come Down" and here I am, listening to their other songs. Their songs are hella good and got me feeling something but in a good way
Same! And I'm amazed.
Same
Same 😭💜

My son put me onto Gang of Youths, I will be forever thank for that, the group is incredible😃
The way the lyrics flow in every Gang of Youths song is perfect

I love his rawness, being able to be honest makes him a man that men can relate to..I love him
Yes
He reminds me of my boyfriend
That moment at the end of the song when the drums subside and it’s just David’s voice singing the refrain with electric guitar - special moment - gets me every time
Agree, just when you think you've heard it all, he switches it up even more, a genuis writer and singer.
Brilliant song with potent lyrics.
This one is a keeper for sure.
Thank you for creating and for sharing this with the world, Gang of Youths!
Almost 6 minutes of musical perfection.
This song still makes tears stream from my eyes from so many different emotions. What a gift. 💫

on the 6th of September at the Festival Hall in Melbourne I cried when you sang this song. Thank you for one of the best nights of my 43 years
it was an amazing night

They're great lyrics in a song full of great lyrics.
I'm now ready to admit that this is my favorite song.
This song gives me chills every time. I feel like it inspires me and drives you to go out there, and live life to the fullest!
Great song! ❤❤❤
How have I not already obsessed over this band?! I feel like I missed out not hearing about them in time. Oh well, obsession started! Will obsess harder to make up for the time lost.
There’s no band / artist I listen to who can have so much of an effect on my emotions with their voice, see you in Brisbane Gang of Youths
These guys are only getting better!!!
Biggest musical act in Australia at the moment... hands down! No band or solo act comes close to them.

This is, at present, my favorite song of all time.
Music is my religion. It's simple, and over complicated all at once. This song is everything, and more in between.
Simply put, the most beautiful song i've ever heard. It's glory and pain and hope and so much more; every time I need a cry I listen to this.

Wow... amazing song, but damn credit to the drone operator too for making that single take so interesting.. well done to all of you !
I commented on this years ago, but I just wanted to say - this song was released on my birthday and probably saved my life. Thank you.
Music you feel in your soul, can't help but get emotional with his beautiful lyrics. Love this band
Amazing. Simply amazing.
It's a long shot, but if you guys ever come to the U.S. it would be a dream come true. Keep doing what you do. Your music resonates with my soul.
