I work for an online tuition school based in East London, i picked up the job before I quit my real job as head of KS5 Maths in a London school, and this keeps me in touch with a career I actually really loved, but gives me the freedom to do it online so I can be anywhere. So if anyone else left a teaching career, I defo recommend finding ways to use that experience on the road.
Great informative video! Those are some awesome ideas for van-life jobs! I wish that I had thought of doing something like that when I was young, because I have always felt that I was a gypsy at heart ♥️But once you are in your 70’s, and although I am in good health, you feel you need to be close to family, in case something should happen. Besides that, my heart would ache for my one & only Grandson♥️ So, I will live my life vicariously through you, Nic😉 May God bless you and keep you safe and in His loving care 🛐♥️🛐
Aww thank you! Well I hope you're in a place where you don't need to work now and can go on some lovely short trips so you don't miss your grandson too much 🥰
I could very easily work self employed as a window cleaner & still live in a van full time. 🙃 In the pass 10 years of living in a rental property I have spent over 140K in just rent & Council Tax… Madness Great vlog Nic got my gears turning 👍
I do the same as Jenny & Harley. I live in my van on a campsite. I have a fixed office job. I am partly remote ( 2-3 days a week) but even if I travel anywhere during the working week, I have to have good WiFi, and 9-5 work doesn’t leave a lot of time for exploring other places, or I’d have to spend every evening looking for park ups. So I decided this is an easier option, then weekends are for shooting off to different places. Im lucky my campsite is in the middle of A city and surrounded by gorgeous parkland, so I get the best of everything. ☺️
Very inspiring. Last year I quit my office job due to stress. I now have my own small design company and I'm saving for my first van and conversion. I can't wait to experience the freedom this lifestyle brings. No doubt some hardship along the way but I'm excited for 2022!
This is great content! I am trying to learn how to become a digital nomad. I am door dashing now but I am thinking to either get a freelance work or remote.
You have to love UA-cam vanlifers - sharing so much info! Thank you. I've been in my Berlingo since Feb 2018, doing various location indie jobs largely in Falmouth and also on the Isle of Wight. My current contract finishes at the end of March at which point I'll go all-in writing books on the road, living off savings initially and probably doing some jobs here and there to keep me going until the books yield some income (if they ever do!). What thing I do know, I'll never return to house life!
Thank you for such an inspiring vlog on van life. So lovely hearing other van lifers fund there journey on the road :) such beautiful vans and amazing tips. Amazing vlog Nic. Hope you and Sam having amazing journeys :) 🤗
Thank you Michael, I was so happy they all agreed to come on the vlog, they are all really inspiring and I think their experiences will help a lot of people start van life 😁. All good here too, hope you are too 😀
@@nicroams I’ll be keeping my job for a while when I move full time. But will need to look at other ways of funding my journey on the road, hearing all the lovely van lifers on this subject will help loads 😊
Loved this :) such a range of ideas from everyone involved! I'm an online Vintage seller but it's not as good as it used to be, so I'm pondering over starting something fresh and more reliable.. thanks for all the info, I'm sure you'll inspire many with this vlog ♡ Lots of love xox
Thank you for the ideas. If one owns a good professional or a semi professional camera and drone set-up they can take cool videos and pics of the small hotels or resorts or real estate properties and sell it to the owners at a reasonable price, or even for an exchange of something. Happy tripping cheerful girl 👧. Love from India 🥰
Can i ask question to those who truly live 24/7 van life, what do you do in relation to address, ie you required to have a fixed address for banking, if you need urgent mail ie Replacement Debit / credit cards, passports, vehicle registration, driving licence renewal, tax, insurance etc etc ?
I guess what most people do is use their home address. Technically you aren't suppose to live in a vehicle which means on their terms you have a home which could be family or even friends. I believe others pay for addresses or if a motorhome I understand you can get dwelling insurance. Hope this helps 🤗
I couldn't no as the van width is about 165cm and I wanted insulation in my van as I was living in it all year round. I have seen people do it but I can't imagine it being too comfortable if 5ft6 (same hight as me) 😁
@@NorthernAnt maybe if you slept on an angle if it is a small double size it could work! Would deffo be best use of space if you can squeeze in there and save you having to make the bed every day 🤗
@@nicroams I will check some vans put, I'm on my own so it doesn't need to be that big. I'm looking at the vivaro, Renault traffic and the Merc Vito but the Ford transits look great for size. I looked in yours at the Stratford upon avon show and it looked fantastic
Aww thank you for popping over, so sorry I didn't realise, it's so hard putting faces to social accounts ☺. If I was to go for a small van again I'd pick the swb of a Peugeot Boxer, Ducato or Relay as they are the same width as the L3H2's which means I could have a sideways bed at the back at aprox 180cm. I haven't checked the hight of them however so not sure if they fit under all barriers like a vivaro does 😊
My advice: EXPERIMENT. I know people that make a living doing dreads from their van... you could be a travelling tradesperson, you could write poetry, you can do office work, be a virtual assistant... I myself ended up getting into marketing with zero previous experience. I started my business under two years ago, and now make more than a full time teacher. And I bet I work a lot less too! So if you're really unsure, go down the copywriting UA-cam rabbit hole and thank me later! P.S. I'm not a vanlifer yet but I will be within the month!
Thank you Stephen, I agree that you should experiment, there are 100's of jobs out there that we have never heard of until we start putting ourselves out there more. I also believe that we should pursue something that makes us truly happy. I'm glad I went through the marigamarol of cv writing, copy typing, homestead work as none of it was for me and all it did was give me the drive to get what I want 🥰. Good luck with your van life adventure, I hope it Al goes smoothly 🤗

Just curious, where do vanlifers put as their business address if on the move and self employed?
I use my home address, but you can purchase a business address online if you don't have access to a friends or family address 😊
Lots of great ideas as the UK discovers they can't afford gas and electricity and everyone moves to living in a van...
