- Flash Mob America and over 300 fans celebrated the Los Angeles arrival of IN THE HEIGHTS (the Tony-Winning Best Musical) by surprising the creator and star of the show, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and dancing to the song "96,000"
In the Heights won Broadway's highest honors by first winning its heart. In the Heights is a musical about the importance of home, family and finding where you belong.
In the Heights tells the universal story of a vibrant community in Manhattan's Washington Heights -- a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It's a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.

Agreed. Whenever I want a morality boost I watch this. I just hope Mr. Miranda realizes and is not afraid of how important his work is.
I love how in the beginning it took him like 20 seconds to realize it was his song.
He is such a warm person, I imagine he is just completely present with whoever he's with and not very focused on the music playing outside (at first)
Also, he probably hears it in his head all the time and just tunes it out to focus on reality, lol

Lin is so so simple. hes never over the top. thats whats amazing about him. sometimes you expect famous people to be in sunglasses and other fancy sh*t everywhere, and there he is, in a green shirt with baggy(?) jeans running around with his fans. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH
I think a lot of stars try to be like that, but the realities of fame (constantly being approached for autographs, conversations, and sometimes even confrontations) don't really let you. No disservice meant to Into the Heights, but in 2010 Miranda just wasn't that big a deal - he was a notable Broadway performer and those in the know had their eye on him, but he hadn't hit true national fame until Hamilton. I wonder how many people were there in 2010, had no idea what they'd just seen, and then some time in 2015-2016 said, "OMG it's that guy they did the flash mob for!!"
