... which means the stakes are even higher - if any other actor messed up it would be a bad day at the office, but if HE messed up it would be front page news.
@@harlanrosenthal8648 Nah. He said it himself: he's the author. If he changes the lyrics in the middle of a show, it's a perfectly valid rewrite.

It's one thing people don't pay enough attention to, the percussive nature of rap. He nails it. You can hear the drum beats and the rhythm of the music in his words, even the key changes. So well crafted.
He’s latin. It’s mandatory….
the KEY CHANGES?!??
@@princess1sprinkles yep, pretty tricky to pull it off
@Don’t Ask Productions very well put
@@zelden7454 You can't rap a key change..
Fun fact that I learned from one of my friends. Lafayette’s rap in Guns and Ships is the fastest rap to ever happen in a Broadway musical. Until it was done on Broadway, the fastest was the one from Satisfied. One musical having the two fastest raps on Broadway is crazy. Satisfied is also one of the only taps that Lin messes up on. He admires any actress that is able to pull it off.
I think the fastest on Broadway is the last verse from The Speed Test in Thoroughly Modern Millie?
The entire show is done in a faster beat than most musicals. If it ran at the same speed at regular musicals it would be three times as long. Lin is amazing, his cast is amazing, representation is amazing. I love it.
I can do Satisfied but I still struggle with Guns and Ships sometimes
we went on a road trip and i learned to rap guns and ships. i can only do it from muscle memory because my brain can’t comprehend the words as i’m saying them lmao

Lin literally portrait the theatre kids with such a perfection, just bunch of kids with anxiety but with a talent that is just ✨
Portrays*
Theatre kids r not a bunch of kids with anxiety
@@Dante_Sethspeak for yourself. Every kid I have ever performed with, including myself, have been riddled with anxiety. Performing is a way to own and control that anxiety. It’s actually one of the top recommended therapies for anxiety because it works so well! Sure maybe not ALL theater kids have anxiety, but a huge portion do. Or at least some type of social awkwardness that is only truly understood by other theater kids.
@@Dante_Sethas a theatre kid i srsly beg to differ😭
@@Dante_Sethi also beg to differ
I love how he actually does the "he said in parentheses". Anyone whos singing that for fun sacrifices a breathe of air to say it.
All theatre kids can do the whole thing
Lin: *sings perfectly*
Also Lin: *gets nervous and stops*
Lin: "It's something like that..."
Mars He didn’t get nervous and stops....that’s the end of the rap, and goes into the ensemble chorus, so he stops
he literally ran back to his seat
Luna T nope he has to finish his verse of
“I am not throwing away my shot
I am not throwing away my shot
He-yo I’m just like my country: I’m young, scrappy, and hungry
And I am not throwing away my shot”
And then the ensemble enters by repeating that stanza. Which is followed by Lafayette’s solo and then Mulligan’s finishing with Laurens’s
No. Miranda is a professional theatre performer. He doesn't get nervous. He's actually incredibly GRACIOUS. That's what that was about. Actors are frequently extremely narcissistic and love attention. A gracious celebrity will downplay their fame and talent. That's what makes them charismatic and likable. And Miranda is EXTREMELY grounded. Notice when he threw out that bit about remembering what is was like to be busking? That was very calculated on his part to remind people that he is thankful for where he is and doesn't take it for granted.
As far as why he stopped... he had to stop SOMEtime. This is running television. He can't just TAKE OVER the show for 3 minutes while he does his performance and everyone else just sits there watching him. I mean, what, you really thought he forgot the lyrics? He wrote them. He performed it every night for a year. He's about to go on tour and do it again. He did NOT forget the lyrics. He was being gracious.
The "It's something like that" was just his way of getting out of it once he got into it. He had to say something to turn it back over to Graham.
JazGalaxy Everyone gets nervous performing in front of big crowds and he’s literally performing in front of millions of people on television. After a while performing gets easier and you get a little less nervous but everyone feels at least a few butterflies in their stomach when performing. It’s perfectly human and normal

I watched Hamilton on Disney+ and wondered how the hell they remember so much of a script. Its so well put together. Brilliant show.
I imagine it takes a lot of practice and time, and it’s why actors & singers on this level deservedly are paid the big bucks and why I personally admire people like Lin who create art like Hamilton for all of us to enjoy and to inspire some of us to do the same.
That and how to move on that double rotating stage!
It's a lot easier when it's in a song. Think of how many songs you know the lyrics to.

I've heard him in others too and he sounds like a little kid who got a brand new toy for Christmas and can't wait to play with it.
