I actually use to be a member of the Country Club at Turnberry and since moving we have stayed at this hotel many times. After our last trip which was disastrous, I’m sad to say I will never return. I use to love this resort but it is definitely not the level of service that it once was. The rooms are not clean (if you look at the baseboards and such) and the rooms need to be updated and don’t get me started on the service. Luxury is in the details.

I’m sorry to hear that. Same for us, our more recent trip everything service wise seemed to have gone way downhill. It really is too bad because the first time several years ago we had such an amazing time.

Planning a vacation at JW Turnberry... however after reading these reviews, it looks they need an executive housekeeper who has attention to details skills...
Also, they must be able to provide/ go beyond exceptional service, they must understand they are serving HNW CLIENTS...who expect an excellent 5 star, 5 diamond service or else they will go somewhere else Monaco etc...

Hi Josh, I’m a fellow Marriott Ambassador Elite and I’m curious if you usually contact the property before your stay to arrange your upgrade or if you have your personal ambassador do it on your behalf? Or do you simply ask at check in? Thanks for taking the time to read my comment and I look forward to your reply. Safe travels!

Thanks for the great question. I find upgrades hard to get if you don’t ask for it. If it’s a really important hotel, I will use a nightly upgrade award award. Otherwise, I will definitely respond to the Hotels email when they reach out. And on the Marriott mobile chat, I will ask the front desk to put in a request for an upgrade to the Room I want. I will also always ask at check in or thank them at check in if they already had done so. Those are the only methods I’ve used so far.

@@gogotravelwithjoshThank you very much for the swift reply. So, I’m doing the same as you for the most part. I find that in Asia and Europe status means a lot more than in North America. Keep the reviews coming and thanks again!
