      Could the spray wax be used over other chalk/clay paints? Does it need to be re applied after a few months like other waxes?
      Is the paint water based? Could I use water to make a washed look?

    • @DixieBellePaint
      @DixieBellePaint 5 років тому +2

      Hello Mariel! Our Easy Peasy Spray Wax is a simple water-based wax, and it does need to be reapplied every 6 months. It has not been tested on other brands of chalk/clay paints but we guarantee it works with our paint! Our chalk mineral paint is also water based and you can dilute it to give your pieces a washed finish.

    ~I LOVE Dixie Belle Paint and waxes!!!! You can make paint application easier (if you find the paint rather thick) by putting a little paint on your brush and then lightly spraying the brush with a spritz of water! Paint just glides on!!!! My first project came out looking like a professional did it!!! My friends and family are so impressed!!!!!

I found Dixie Belle to have a pretty thick consistency. Once I added a tiny bit of water I found it to be perfect and surprisingly fell in love with this brand.

    Hey Christina! So great to see your review on DBP products. Having used Dixie Belle Paint exclusively on my paint projects; I found that water is the key. Start with a damp brush and if you continue to dampen your brush through the painting project, you will use much less paint. I use a spray bottle and just give each side a spritz when I feel the paint slightly pulling then I spritz again. You may have had close to 1/2 a jar of paint left using this technique. It also makes brush strokes smoother. With DBP being water based, you can add water to the paint to use as a wash, stain, or even as you use a glaze. If you leave the lid off and it gets too thick, add water. If you get it too thin, leave the lid off until it thickens. 99% of the products are water based and low VOC! Glad you liked DBP.

    I absolutely love your videos! I've been binge watching! I'm new to chalk paint & have only done 2 small pieces. I was wondering, you don't have to strip & sand an old dresser to paint it? I have a mid Century modern bedroom set & I would love to lighten it up with more of a grayish weathered look. What do you recommend? Thank you for all the videos & taking your time to do them. I would give you a 5 thumbs up if I could.

      Indeed it is! I just wish I stumbled upon it a long time ago, but better late than never. I'm actually flipping a dresser for a friend of mine. She's and interior designer and will be featured in Walter Magazine. I'm either crazy or brave. I'm thinking crazy because I am definitely a beginner. I'm getting ready to mix Annie Sloan's clear and brown wax to give the piece a very light aged look, and yes, I'm very nervous. LOL

    • @ChristinaMuscari
      @ChristinaMuscari  4 роки тому +1

      I have only used it once, it didn't hold up well on this particular piece. But it might have been the color or the fact that it was in a 3 year old's room. I just ordered some more, so I will be trying it again because everyone I know who uses it swears by it.

    Christina, I have watched a lot of videos on chalk AND milk painting. I like yours best; you keep it simple and down to earth. I would like to ask your opinion. I have a whole bedroom set (5 pieces), it is solid cherry and about 45 years old and in pretty good condition. I am considering painting it; I am so weary of it! Do you think 1) it will be too-o-o much 2) which will be better-chalk or milk 3) which will hold up better? If you could help me I would appreciate it so much.

    • @ChristinaMuscari
      @ChristinaMuscari  5 років тому +1

      Yes, you can do it. Start with the piece that is the least important to you or is least seen. I would chalk paint. Cherry can bleed sometimes, so put a damp paper towel on it for 30 min and see if any of the stains lifts. If it does seal it with Zinsser Shellac before you paint.

    Would you use these products to paint wooden cabinets under the sink or for that matter kitchen cabinets? .i am planning on to do so..as it seems the easiest product (paint and spray wax ) ?

      I think there are more durable options for cabinets. I would use some type of water based top coat.

    I hated this wax. It left the dark blue color i painted on my piece look whitish and chalky and did not leave a rich buttery finish. I also found the spray tedious and did not spray evenly. I tried two different bottles and both did not preform well. Finally when the bottle is low of product it didn’t spray at all. I had high hopes for this but in my opinion it’s nowhere close to any other kind of top coat - wax or otherwise.

    I used this spray with another project just for speed and the paint came off. OOPS!

    I don't think you're using the wrong bit, more so that you're using the wrong type of drill. Looks like you're using a impact driver, used for driving screws not really for drilling holes.

    Why do you not wear a mask? 😳 I have COPD. I wish I had worn mask when I did projects like this. You are too young to ruin your lungs girl!

      I do wear a mask and respirator when the product has high VOC's or fumes.
