When I thrift or go to an antique store, I look for anything brass, wood pieces (bowls, trays, etc), pottery, ironstone, transfer ware, pictures, polish pottery, baskets. Wishing you all the best for your booth. Great fun!
I’ve learned to love and appreciate all of the seasons….each has its own best features! While I’m not a snow person I love the fresh air and the cozy nights and the chance to stay inside to sew and knit..after I get the barn work done!
(Paul's wife is writing) I love to look for vintage and antique textiles, coverlets, stools, wood boxes, small primitive items, Florentine items, dresser boxes or caskets, baskets, ironstone, pewter items, mirrors, ledgers, books, Bibles, paper ephemera, tintypes, silhouettes, stoneware, oil paintings, holiday decor, etc. I love your taste in decor and enjoy seeing all of the wonderful things you find!
Hi Kris, when I go into an antique shop or thrift store I always look for primitives. I love wooden dough bowls, pewter, primitive textiles, samplers, I can go on and on. I love anything that is primitive, Early American and Colonial. I love your channel!
Hi Kris, Nice seeing you this weekend!! Hope you had a great haul from Cromwell, even though it was a rather small assortment. Anyway, I love seeing vintage (of course) utilitarian items, quilts, handmade, needlepoint, primitive to about the 50s Era items. I also love jewelry (all kinds) but mostly vintage. And anything with a good sparkle and shine usually draws my attention. Have attention great day and happy thrifting!! Deb
Love your channel. Your viewer count should be greater than it is. Love shopping for ceramics, ironstone, quilts, baskets, art, love finding inexpensive platters, all things swan, Canada geese, especially real decoys antique and vintage, tarnished flatware, books!
What a great haul! I like clear glass... but I do know it isn't popular. When I am out I look for pottery, rustic-y items, linens, antique Christmas, old books. Recently we went to Farmersville Auction and I bought 5 very old decoy ducks and 1 goose for a whopping $4. No idea what I will do with them 😂 but they are charming.
I like clear glass too - let's bring it back! It sounds like you had good success at the auction - there was a time when those kinds of things (old decoys) were incredibly expensive.
Another beautiful video. The baskets will be great for your store to display things inside of them. The Lenox china has the old back stamp. Some of my older pieces of the Rutledge pattern have the green stamp. I love to see china, glass and figurines in shops. I loved seeing Indy. ❤
Kris, I love textiles: old fabric, tablecloths, lace, barkcloth. I think you need that mix of “soft goods” with hard goods to make a well-rounded booth.
As a lover of vintage items I am always on the look for special and often surprising things. I especially love different variety of china, lladros, english/irish crystal, and quilts. I should be downsizing, but I so love decorating and enjoying all I find to make my happy home.
I love your channel and am looking forward to your store. When I go antiquing or thrifting, I typically look for older pieces including those which I collect to include old wooden duck decoys, old English Staffordshire Dogs, old ironstone china and old copper teapots, coffee pots and general old copper pots of some kind. That’s my list but I love looking at old antiques as I grew up with relatives who either had their own antique shops or loved to collect old antiques as I do. Looking forward to going shopping in your new store.
As I get older, I inclined towards something unusual in scholars objects, orientals objects that I had seen in my grandparents and relatives homes as well as add onto my small scale ikebana flower arrangements vases. I watched many videos during covid, and had collected glasses but it overtook my hse. I donated some and luckily for me one of my daughters wanted them. With that experienced, I am more careful to seek out only unusual objects. The trays or under objects that you mentioned is definitely something to take on because it helped me define a collection or a clustering of objects. It is like a organized chaos in my hse.
Love your channel and your fur babies. I am 85 and many things have passed through my hands, so what I look for is unusual things that I have never owned because they were too expensive at the time. Hah! I have them now and enjoy every minute of looking at them. Starting to be a bit of a hoarder some would say, but that will be my girls problem when I'm gone.
The tall odd shape basket would be perfect for rolled hand towels either in a kitchen or bathroom. Thank you for thrifting in Connecticut. You would love going to Pandemonium in Deep River. Its right off route 9. One of my favorite stops!!!!
Just a suggestion on the doggie toy be sure to use a hairdryer to remove the tag so you don't lose any of the paper underneath it (you probably already know this trick!). Fun video, love watching your hauls.
Another fantastic haul! I love the Lenox bowls. Soup plates! My mum called them soup plates. Oooh, the little tole trays are lovely - your friend knows what you love. Your videos are so real… falling lights, cat hair! 😂 I love your videos and everything you find. ❤ Edit - I collect chocolate pots among other things. Antique photographs, vintage linens, jewelry, tole trays!
My videos are definitely real! Oh my gosh. I could edit things out, but then I figure that real life is more interesting. Chocolate pots are a great collection - I love it! Thank you for sharing your list!
Hi! When I go to the Antique Mall or consignment shops, I'm usually looking for artwork, home decor, or a particular piece of furniture. Love your animals. It's always a pleasure to see them.
Hi Kris! Great video. Thanks for coming down to my neck of the woods! Always fun seeing what you find. I love to look for Ironstone, Portmerion, old books, brass candlesticks in any height, vintage Christmas stuff like ornaments, old mixing bowls and crocks, old pitchers, old vintage kitchen items like rolling pins, wooden spoons, etc., trays and baskets. Can't wait to shop your booth space!
Funny story - the first owner of my house made tortoiseshell combs in the late 1700s - I would give anything to find one! I love your list - thanks for sharing!
Kris, thanks again for sharing that the Corner Collective reopened. I took my mom there yesterday and we have a fabulous time! You're a star there, in case you didn't know.😂 Here's my current list: medicine and science related items like pharmacy bottles, small covered glass or crystal candy dishes, art from local artists, cast iron pieces, gently used art and crafting tools, studio pottery, things made with butterfly wings, MCM anything - especially lamps and quirky items
Hi Kris, I enjoyed seeing all the nice things you picked up today. I am looking forward to you showing us your booth once you have it completed and staged. I think your idea of having a lot of lamps and pictures will work out well for your sales. I buy a lot of vases for florals, dessert plate sets, colored stemware, used silver plated trays etc and I especially love 💕 anything chinoiserie. I’m happy your channel is growing, I know you put a lot of work into them. Kisses to all your fur babies 😊
I'm so glad you enjoyed my haul! I appreciate you sharing your list - you are the first person who has mentioned chinoiserie, so good item for me to keep in mind! I also haven't picked up silver plated trays before (except for myself), so I'll look out for them now.
I first went to thrift stores at age 15 and I loved to buy unique old looking things. First 2 things I ever bought were a large glass cigarette lighter for the coffee table and an American Indian doll, very primitive and I still have it. Nowadays I look for interesting lamps, artwork, bookends. I always look for Portmerion, and Franciscan plates etc. And I love to find large art, antiques, history books. I also look for Icelandic and Norwegian and Fair Isle sweaters which I use to knit myself, but too lazy to knit now.
Enjoyed seeing your treasures! I look for large scaled items that make a statement and are versatile, also substantial wood plant stands, anything with a pedestal or footed. Also, good quality stems and framed, matted prints. If my home had room I'd be shopping for furniture pieces. I also love unique garden pieces, heavy candlesticks. I guess that's most of it!😂
Wow. October 18 is an important date in our family, too ❤ When I’m out thrift/antiquing: I love to find, vintage silver/plated serving pieces. Irish linens, tea towels, china . I love a good Christmas in July sale. So excited for you !
You found some beautiful treasures and great deals! I struck out thrifting on Cape Cod yesterday 😢; however, it was a nice day for a road trip. I'm so looking forward to visiting your booth space and venturing out to Connecticut. I'm fairly new to the thrifting world. I had no idea how much fun it is! I tend to stick with thrift shops. I'm not a reseller but still have a budget to adhere to. I love unusual pieces. If you're selling that forged leaf, let me know 😉. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and decorating tips.
I'm so glad you enjoyed my treasures! Sorry to hear that you struck out on the Cape, but then again, at least you struck out in a beautiful location! The thrifting world is so addictive, isn't it? I am definitely willing to sell the forged leaf. I was thinking of keeping it for a specific spot in my house, but it doesn't fit. I'll list it on ebay tomorrow.
I love to shop for ironstone, miniature anything, hand carved wood items, trinket boxes, artwork, colored glass always draws me in, old photographs, embroidered linens, quilts, cat stuff & brass!
Thinking of you as you remember your Mom. I do miss mine, and wish I had learned so many of the skills she was so wonderful at! I love all things blue and white. I pick up art, textiles and pieces of blue and white while out. Antique books are always interesting. Baskets as well. Will love to see your booth when it opens. What I dislike in antique malls is clutter, too much in a booth space and things that are clearly dirty. I well stocked, clean and organize booth will draw me in everytime.
Thank you for your list and I also appreciate your comment about clutter, etc. I will definitely keep that in mind - I want to have nice selection of inventory in my booth, but not chaos. It can be a fine line.
I love watercolors, vintage Americana, local to me cookbooks put together by churches or women's groups, matte green pottery, (which I can't afford today's prices), anything for garden decorating or usage such as hand tools, books, and antique or older vintage Christmas ornaments. Also, whatever catches my eye.
I really enjoy your videos and love love love your furry family. As far as vintage items that I look for, my taste is probably more primitive. I tend to collect old kitchen scales, Raggedy Ann dolls, ironstone, tomato spoons, buttons, old wooden spools, old fashion kitchen utensils, baskets and whatever. As far as dishes, believe it or not, the more crazing and staining the better. I am looking forward to when you open your shop. I hope that maybe you can offer some primitive items when you do open.
Oh my gosh - I was just at an estate sale with SO MANY RAGGEDY ANN dolls! I'm definitely going to keep my eye out for primitives - it seems like a popular category.
Depends on the age of shopper what they like. I know according to stores around me say dishes, clear glass don’t sell well. Although there were a couple ladies who did sell that kind of thing. I personally like good quality ceramic and glass, tea pot weakness too.and of late bone China c/s. I don’t see them as much as I use to so maybe there are other buyers for them at the thrift stores now. I generally shop thrift stores and garage and estate sales. I don’t need a thing as my house is full of probably hard to sell items. But I enjoy them. I also look for holiday decor and change things out according to the season. Florals I like as I’m a gardener and love flowers arrangements. Silk flowers are expensive and they are much cheaper at thrift stores. I know how to make arrangement and I re create them.
I love your list - thank you so much for sharing! You also make a good point about considering the ages of different shoppers - I hadn't really thought about that!
I love it! It's actually my brother's wedding anniversary as well! He always joked that if he got married on my mother's birthday we would all be more likely to remember it!
@ that’s funny! It has always interested me about what we do remember and don’t remember. I’ll talk about things that my brother and I experience together as kids and he goes. I don’t remember that it’s all perspective.
❤ I FIND I AM DRAWN TO WOODEN ARTICLES SUCH AS TRAYS, WOODEN KITCHEN INSTRUMENTS SUCH AS BUTTER MOLDS, SPOONS, MASHERS, ROLLING PINS,AND WASHBOARDS, SOCK STRETCHERS AND OTHERWISE ANYTHING MADE FROM IRONSTONE,,,WHEN YOU GET MOVED INTO YOUR BOOTH, PLEASE GIVE US A LOOK FROM TIME TO TIME....GOD BLESS YOU AND ERIC ❤

I'm so glad you enjoy my channel! I love your list - thank you so much for sharing! It's very helpful.
My French Canadian grandparents had harvest baskets like those, and the largest one held toys for us to play with! Find memories!
That's so nice! I'm glad you had happy memories of the baskets as well!
What a great haul! I like clear glass... but I do know it isn't popular. When I am out I look for pottery, rustic-y items, linens, antique Christmas, old books. That's such an interesting point - mixing soft goods with hard goods. I never thought of that - thank you!
Hi Kris. Thx for another great video 😊

Haha! Yes, we have one mishap after another around here! 😂😂

Your comment made me laugh! I love it - let the kids worry about it when we're gone - I couldn't agree with you more.
The tall odd shape basket would be perfect for rolled hand towels either in a kitchen or bathroom. Thank you for thrifting in Connecticut. You would love going to Pandemonium in Deep River. Its right off route 9. One of my favorite stops!!!!
That's such a great idea! I recently went to Pandemonium for the second time - video footage will be coming out soon!
Just a suggestion on the doggie toy be sure to use a hairdryer to remove the tag so you don't lose any of the paper underneath it (you probably already know this trick!). Fun video, love watching your hauls.
I learned that trick a while back from a viewer! I can't tell you how many times it's saved old paperbacks with price stickers on them!
Another fantastic haul! I love the Lenox bowls. Soup plates! My mum called them soup plates. Oooh, the little tole trays are lovely - your friend knows what you love. Your videos are so real… falling lights, cat hair! 😂 I love your videos and everything you find. ❤

Think the Bel eek is a jam jar? - I have some from our trip to Ireland many years ago and they do a lot of jam jars
That would make total sense! Thank you!
I would love that plate from Italy and $5 is a great price

I love anything burnt tortoiseshell, silver items, brass items, trinket boxes….the list goes on and on!😂

The bluebird certainly has the Shawnee look but I didn’t find him in my book. Question? Do you ever buy Spode Copeland dishes to sell?
Yes, I have had Spode Copeland from time to time! It's so beautiful!
Another awesome video! I just love your furry sidekick.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I definitely have PLENTY of furry sidekicks to choose from around here!
Wow. October 18 is an important date in our family, too ❤

I like to shop for small to medium oil paintings or watercolors.

I thought I had the creamer to the Lenox, but it is “Serena” by Royal Albert. It looks so much like the Lenox.
It's amazing how some patterns can be so similar!
HI THERE..I AM NOT A RESELLER BUT FOR MYSELF.. I LOOK FOR CROCKS..BASKETS AND WOODEN ITEMS..
Thank you for sharing your list! I really appreciate it!
My parents wedding date was October 18, 1947, so it’s special to me as well!
