Your story time was very relatable and VERY entertaining! I was on the edge of my seat...and laughing on the floor when you said you wanted to bite that guy!! 🤣🤣🤣 I have felt like a race horse out the gate at MANY an estate sale, so understand tboth he excitement AND the stress!1 The Lenox & Minton china is GOOOORGEOUS❤ Adore the pair of Cockatiels💙 Its funny because I think I just picked up the napkins in my snow day video that match your runner 🤣
I loved your commentary on the obnoxious buyer #2. So relatable. I love the Scotty pillow, the large rooster, and the beautiful Lennox/ Minton cream and gold china.
What Im thinking is if No. 2 was really so high and mighty he would have been able to get all 3 paintings and not just 1. Lol. With you buying 2 I don’t know why he was boasting lol. 😂 Thank you for introducing this artist to me! He is fantastic! ❤
I'm so glad you enjoyed learning about N.A. Moore! I'm not sure why #2 didn't buy all three, but thank goodness he didn't - we would have been brawling at the estate sale! 😂😂
Love, love, love your video today! You held your anger and frustration way better than I could have. Glad you kept your stellar sense of humor and shared it perfectly in your chat. Made my morning! Sorry to laugh at your expense, but as one watcher said, I would have bitten him for you too!!! 😂 You are such a good egg. Love the paintings. Hate the frames, and keep those history lessons comings! 💓
Haha! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! I'm also VERY glad that you can have a laugh at my expense! The frames are so bad, right? We're hoping to sort those out sometime soon.
#2 ESTATE SALE BULLY. You should have taken a mugshot. This video was so entertaining. I spent most of my time laughing. But on a serious side, I think I like the Lenox, Minton and Hunt prints the best.
Oh my gosh another great video! 😂 If I were there, I would have bit that #2 guy for you! I'm guessing he lives alone with his 60 paintings and probably 60 cats too. 😜
Of the three, I think you got the best and top two! I absolutely love paths and streams in paintings. You can dream of the beauty down the path or stream beyond the painting. That's exactly what I did when you showed the two that you purchased. I had to laugh at your adventure. Years ago, I stopped going because the dealers were so competitive. Not all, but enough that it stopped being fun. One dealer even laid down and rolled on a driveway into a garage as someone was opening their garage door! Now I can laugh at the memory, and it's a great story to share! The paintings are beautiful and definitely my jam! Never apologize for sharing history. I love history. I also love books and have my mother's books, Little Women, Bambi, Bambi's Mother, Little Men, and more. I never read them because of the delicate paper.
OH MY GOSH! If I saw someone drop and roll into an opening garage, I think I would die laughing! People can be so intense! You're so lucky to have your mother's books. People often ask me if I read my books and don't understand when I explain they're not "reading" copies. I can see that you understand! The books won't make it if they're handled - they're just too old and fragile, but still beautiful and absolutely worth preserving.
Your chicken is my favorite. It reminds me of tole painting which is from Norway/Sweden. You did a great job handling the "art collector" You were too nice. So happy I found your channel
I think this definitely is a very interesting haul! I love everything you purchased and especially the painted chicken! I love your sense of humor and see that you and your husband really do make a great team. Also this video shows all the work involved with your eBay store and wish you the best with your booth.😊
I'm so glad you enjoyed the haul! I'll tell you the truth - I've gotten VERY attached to the chicken! It won't be easy to part with it now! 😂😂 That's the hardest part about reselling - letting go of the good stuff!
You were sheer comedy today.I had things to do but wouldn't walk away as if I can't watch it later. My favorites were the china and for some strange reason that chicken.❤
Oh. My. God. What a buffoon that man was. You should have told him you didn’t like the painting he snatched up! That might have taken the wind out of his sails! I’m glad you got the other two, they’re beautiful. I always love all that you buy. ❤
Congratulations on adding to your art collection. They are beautiful! The tapestries could also be wall hangings or become pillow covers and I love château diaries as well.
@ I’ve actually been a Patreon for many years and have sent them a few gifts that I’ve been able to see on the shows and my latest was I sent Isabel some new hair clips and she’s been wearing them last few shows that I’ve seen them. It’s kind of cool.
#2 not having someone to come with him to snag all three or at least get 1 of the other ones is telling. He has probably alienated himself from anyone he has met and didn't have anyone to go with him to try to get more than the 1 he got. That's why he clung to it, trying to boost himself up and feel better that he didn't get more paintings. Just be glad that's the only time you will have to endure him. You found so many beautiful pieces, hope you enjoy all your finds. Love your new chicken, it's ADORABLE!!
Oh my gosh - you're so right! I hadn't thought about it like that! I think you've nailed his issues. We really loved all of the beautiful things we found - it was a great estate sale!
I loved this video! The paintings are so beautiful! I don’t understand why someone would remove the exhibition style frames that they belong in. I agree that a light dusty green is the perfect wall color for the hunt scenes. I love all of the clouds in them. I love painting clouds in my watercolors and always love to see them in art as they convey the mood. The textiles are also beautiful. I also loved all of the bird figurines. It is so nice to see the bird tablecloth on your table. I even liked Eric’s finds. And I loved seeing Wilson and Iris. 💕
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! I suspect the previous owners wanted to modernize the look of the paintings, unless the original frames were just crumbling apart from age and improper storage. It's amazing to me what a difference the right frame makes.
What an absolutely amazing haul! That's a portuguese rooster! I'm of portuguese heritage. My 87 year old Mom is very quick to advise that these roosters should be placed facing away from doors to invite good luck into your home. I gasped aloud with your number 2 story....woke up the cat and now we are both giving the 😡 face. What a number 2 💩! I would have ended up in police custody! Thanks for another wonderful adventure!
Oh my gosh - I literally just changed the position of the rooster! I have no doubt that your 87 year old mom knows best! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!
Hi Kris, Wow, absolutely beautiful artwork, from the paintings to the print. When I saw the Christmas scene print, it took a short minute and said to myself, I know those buildings! So interesting and it transports me back in time. Lol, I wonder if my house is in back there.....I don't think so, that print is a scene way before my house was built I think. Ok, back to watching your awesome video!! Deb
I'm so glad you enjoyed my finds! I plan to take a present day photo and compare it to the painting as part of a future video. It's fun to see my street represented in wall art!
Great haul and video. Just be thankful #2 did not grab all 3 paintings!! That would have been sad. I love the china and the tapestry ! Looking forward to your booth opening. I plan to take a ride down there from western Massachusetts one day. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge with us.
Oh my gosh, if he grabbed all three paintings there would have been a brawl! 😂😂 We were very lucky to get even one. Once they're properly framed, they'll be perfect in our home. I'm so glad you're planning to take a drive to Colchester! I can't wait to get into the booth space - I have so many plans!
Thanks for sharing Kris, I’m so sorry that #2 behaved so badly towards you and Eric. I’m happy you were able to get at least two of the paintings. There is no excuse for acting like a jerk at estate sales, kudos to Eric for not punching him in the mouth. LOL 😂 I hope Eric and his friends enjoy the pool table, those are a beast to move. Love 💕 all the awesome China you bought. I think you’re right about the placemats but what if you could thrift some nice frames and sell them two at once for wall art. I bought a small tapestry in Florence, then I found the perfect frame at Goodwill and it’s looks amazing. All the English hunt scenes make a nice gallery wall for the foyer. You can buy a little metal tea tin to put on your silver tray, maybe that would fill up a little if the space.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I absolutely love your idea about buying frames for the placements! It didn't even occur to me! I've tried to put little things on the silver tray, but Iris takes offense to all of them and immediately smacks them away. Maybe she's just a kitty who prefers simplicity? 😂😂
Congrats on the art. How wonderful to expand your collection by 2 in one day. I always wonder why some people are SO obnoxious, feeling the need to boast & tout their self-worth. There was an opportunity to have a good conversation with someone who enjoys the same art, but #2 doesn't know how to get on with others. Sad for him. Great haul!
Thank you! It was so greatly unusual for us to even find one painting, never mind two. You're so right about #2, why be so obnoxious? We could have mutually admired each other's finds and talked about our obscure area of interest. I tried to change up the tone, but he wasn't budging. His loss, right?
OMG…that was the best thrifting story. 😅. You got some great items of course including the paintings. Have you considered getting them professionally cleaned? Wondering if the colors would be even brighter.
I'm so glad you enjoyed my thrifting story! I'm sure you're right about cleaning the paintings - Eric has had it done before, and has said it makes a huge difference!
Hi Kris, the hallway wallcovering is meant to mimic grasscloth, so the miss match type look is intentional. When I had my design practice, I had this same paper installed in a dining room. Fortunately, the paper manufacturers explained this in the book but definitely can understand the thought that it's not matched. 😊
I just googled it- Thackeray was not their publisher, but he was a literary hero of Charlotte Bronte and she met him twice! (Where would we be without Google - I couldn't exactly pop down to the library and check the microfiche!)
60 paintings and living in one of the painters houses!?! Could have said...how wonderful for you, are you an N A Moore expert?? And when he said he is just investing...say, oh, what a shame! You sounded like an expert who was committed to sharing his wonderful works. (What a Jerk!) I loved seeing the books. I have several of the small ones myself. I actually dug them out of a half price books dumpster years ago.
He's definitely committed to his collection, that's for sure! 🤣🤣 You were lucky to find the books for half price! I was happy to find so many nice series at this sale.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, Winston was a Toby Jug. He was very distinguished! I collect the character jugs myself, otherwise I would have been very tempted.
Hoping you can help me in my search!!! I bought a Lenox Coronado dish set. 12 dinner and dessert plates with 12 bowls. It was a steal 35.00$ for everything. But my family has grown so am in need of one more of each. EBay prices are astronomical!!! I live not far from you so if you ever see them please buy for me!!! Will be more than happy to drive to you and purchase. Thank you!!!!
I will happily help you in your search! Don't give up on ebay - you can find one high price after another, and then one day there's a bargain. You might also want to periodically check Facebook Marketplace, especially if you're willing to drive a bit of a distance.
Love the wooden chicken. I think it looks more like a rooster. It would go well with my extensive rooster collection. What is the height of this piece?
It is approximately 17 inches in height. I'm intrigued that you have a rooster collection! Are they all made from the same material (wood, china, etc.) - or a combo of different materials?
@@WorthingtonHome Lots of different materials. And different sizes. Some as tall as 17-18 ins. (ceramic) and some as tiny as 3/4in. I rescued two when I was a child and I have a soft spot for them still today. It's so hard to not buy up everyone I see. But, I do have one rule to "control the roost" I only collect roosters, no chickens. Lol.
Don’t let that nitwit take away from a wonderful day. The gold and white china look luxurious. I love textiles and am always happy when you buy them.
Textiles are definitely fun to find! I've developed such a deeper appreciate for them!
