Thank you for telling people the history of Hichcock. Being here in New England i am happy to own original chairs. My mother taught early NewEngland arts stenceling and theorum painting.
Your box is gorgeous and perfect for the table. I'm so happy the owners let you share their antique shop. It is fantastic. Have fun setting up your booth space, and I am excited for you!
I love the injected history in your channel. The Hitchcock segment was especially interesting to this life long Connecticut resident as I’ve seen many pieces of furniture over the years but not the story behind them. I’m thrilled about “the box”, it’s perfection. And I always enjoy seeing the furry members of your family, such sweet faces.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and appreciated the history segment! And thanks for your kind words about my furry friends - they're such characters! (Licorice is snoring right next to me as I type this response!)
Always love seeing sweet Licorice. I have really been enjoying your little tidbits of information about things in your area. I have heard of Hitchcock furniture but knew nothing about it, but now I am going to check out a book from the library and read about it. You are never too old to learn something new. Would like to know more. I fell in love with the box you bought for your bedroom.
I'm so glad you enjoy my Licorice! She's snoring LOUDLY right next to me as I type this! I feel honored to have introduced you more deeply to Hitchcock furniture!
I loved hearing how you were collecting your furniture and finding them at consignment shops. I started my own collecting at age 19 the same way and found Queen Anne walnut pieces. I sometimes had to pay for them on layaway. At one point I had a corner cupboard and a dining table (with legs removed) in my bedroom. My parents said they thought it was time I had my own apartment since I was already filling my bedroom with furnishings. I later added a buffet and an armoire that had gorgeous carving in the wood, which is what I always looked for.
Thank you for sharing!❤Love how you displayed the painted box. It was meant for you. But the best part was seeing your furbabies on your bed! Take care & thank you for the bits of history & taking us along on your adventures.
Thanks Kris, another great video. Your painted box looks so pretty on your table, the bedroom is really coming together nicely. I hope you meet your goal on UA-cam.
Thank you for the lesson about Hitchcock furniture. I remember when we went to visit the family who lived near Canaan they were talking about Hitchcock furniture. I believe her mother sold Antiques. That was the first time I heard about Hitchcock. I didn’t know they were made in Conn or if it did I forgot. I got out the map to see where Riverton is and actually it isn’t very far form Canaan. I love your new box and it makes a lovely vignette on the table. Always fun to learn new things.
How incredibly cool you have that piece of history!! In all honesty, that was an investment to be treasured for generations. Those cats look majestic with their "winter fluff" on. They both have beautiful coats!! I wish UA-cam had a better word than "subscibe"......people feel there's a monetary obligation with a "subscription". I hope you reach your goal!!
Thanks for sharing, I would love to have a booth, I wish I understood the process more about having a booth. I wish you the best and you have a great eye for finding great things. ♥️
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Anyone can have a booth spaces, believe me. You just need to find a multi dealer shop and inquire about renting a space. If the price is right for you, you usually put your name on a list until a space is available.
❤my Hitchcock chairs. Found mine on west coast thrifting. Very happy you are the caretaker for the historic piece. It really is a Smithsonian Institution piece.
Hitchcock chairs are so classic - I love that you found them on the west coast! I definitely feel privileged to have my little piece of history, and I will definitely treasure it!
What a great day we shared. Looking forward to more fun thrifting outings and lunch together. Your energy and enthusiasm is always appreciated. I am happy to have you as a friend. ❤ Marjie
Yay another video. I’m disabled and live alone so I’m always looking forward to good wholesome videos. I sell a little bit on Poshmark. We don’t have many places to source from here in rural Tn lol. 😊
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! I can appreciate that not every place provides access to lots of vintage items or antiques. On the other hand, I envy you your warmer weather in Tennessee!
❤Kris I love loved loves this vidno. And thanks for recognizing the Woolworth comments. Of the special part of my childhood and I'm sure others as well. You're your Hitchcock box is to die for I have Hitchcock chairs. There's before they went out of business. They're not well. We bought 4 black ones and they're all different. I think they're the same pattern. They all put where they're made in the year or whatever on the back and then those are black. Cause my kitchen has a lot of grasian Tuscan like style. And then I have some brown ones that also are stenciled and I love them but, but that was a nice trip down memory lane. I never did make it to the museum.Or maybe we did go there once long ago, but I loved what you got and I love that teapot that your friend gave you.Actually all the things she gave you were quite lovely. So excited to see you in your booth can't wait to go up there.I'm gonna get one of my caretakers to bring me up someday.Once you're open , that will be fun. You take care, stay warm.Stay safe and happy Thanksgiving to you.And eric and zathat❤❤
I really enjoyed this video. I love the Hitchcock box and it is perfect on the table. I love Hitchcock furniture and my kitchen set is Hitchcock. I have a small round table and four green stenciled chairs. I’m not sure of the age but probably from the 50s. The chairs from this series were black, red, yellow, green and I think cream. They are the most comfortable chairs to sit in. I can’t wait to see your store space when you curate it with your beautiful pieces. I loved seeing the cats in the basket and when you were looking at it I imagined them inside.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! You're lucky to have a Hitchcock kitchen set - I bet it's beautiful! The stenciled chairs are the nicest, in my opinion.
I thought it was a great price as well - and SUCH a nice piece. (I liked everything in that booth, actually). Blanket chests are beautiful and offer fantastic storage. Definitely visit Connecticut!
I'm so glad to know more about Hitchcock. Thank you for sharing, Kris. And I'm so happy that you "invested" in the antique Hitchcock box. It is exactly what you were looking for beforehand. You just didn't know it was waiting for you at Liverant. Nice people, the Liverants, and beautiful goods.
I'm so glad you enjoyed learning more about Hitchcock! Oh my gosh, Nathan Liverant and Son was the nicest antique store I've ever been too - incredibly nice people and beautiful items!
Love the Hitchcock box. It is the perfect piece for that little table! I grew up in Guilford and my parents were big fans of Hitchcock furniture. I wish I had some of those pieces now! Good luck with your goal of 4,000 subscribers. I am subscribed and I have mentioned you on other channels. 🤞
I'm so glad you love the Hitchcock box! It was such an unexpected find - once I saw it, I couldn't leave it behind. THANK YOU for subscribing and mentioning my channel!
That was fun to watch. I love the bits about about Connecticut history. Very interesting. I wonder if you ever see flower presses in your travels? I put one up for sale on Facebook Marketplace and was inundated with over 40 responses. I expected maybe 2 or 3. It surprised me.
If you ever get a chance to go to Riverton the Hitchcock building is there. Right down the road is Peter Greenwood Glass Blowing Studio. You may buy his creations and/ or take a lesson. He is in the building that was a church and then the Hitchcock museum. My husband had a glass blown g lesson and loved it!!! Yes my house is full of Hitchcock pieces too.
Haha! I'm not going to give the exact amount, but I will say it wasn't the sort of money I usually pay for anything. Between loving the box, having the perfect spot for it, and being more than a little bit in love with the history link, I was willing to pay up in that particular case.
Hi I love and enjoy listening and watching you, but you mentioned Amish furniture didn't know if you knew they run puppies mills and are treat them horribly sorry for the information.
Yes, I'm aware of that - it's so sad. I'm comfortable purchasing Amish furniture or other inanimate objects (quilts, etc.), but would never buy a dog from anyone without fully checking out the breeder. (Unless I was adopting from a shelter, of course).
Thank you for telling people the history of Hichcock. Being here in New England i am happy to own original chairs. My mother taught early NewEngland arts stenceling and theorum painting.
My pleasure! I enjoyed learning more about it. It sounds like your mother was very skilled! I love theorum painting - it's simple, but classic!
Your box is gorgeous and perfect for the table. I'm so happy the owners let you share their antique shop. It is fantastic. Have fun setting up your booth space, and I am excited for you!
I'm so glad you liked the box! It was the exact right piece for the table, I think. ❤❤

OK, how much did you pay for the box? 📦 for your investment.

soooo .... Not the movies Hitchock LOL
No, but I really enjoy Hitchcock films as well - just a different guy - and a different century! 😂😂
