Have we all forgotten how software was sold before subscriptions were a thing! You paid for good notes 5 lifetime price not good notes 6. If you don’t want 6 don’t pay for it and continue using 5 but if you want the new updated software you’re gonna have to pay and at least they’re offering both price options . People who used Adobe software before they offered subscriptions for example had to purchase a new version if they wanted to upgrade if not they would just stick with the current version they had. This is how it always was until subscriptions came along

You can downgrade in the settings of goodnotes to the older versiona and use goodnotes 5 with all its features. I myself was quite confused when I first thought that my old purchase was gone and I would have to buy the much more expensive goodnotes 6.
Is this an optional upgrade or do you HAVE to do it? Because it feels kind of annoying that one paid for a “lifetime use” of GN5, only to pay considerably more for GN6 😅
Goodnotes 5 purchasers keep everything they had initially. GN6 is the extra add-on you can choose to purchase for an additional $9.99 a year or $29.99 one-time payment. They have discounts for GN6 depending on when you bought GN5. I hope this helps.

I thought I would still be able to use Goodnotes 5 as before, but when I tried to create a new notebook, it said I had already the limit of free notebooks created, and won't let me create another one without paying. I'm still hoping there's some mistake, but everyone here says I can keep everything I had as a Goodnotes 5 user, but I wasn't limited to 3 free notebooks before :(

A few months ago my GoodNotes randomly said I had to pay to use more notebooks yet I already did a one time purchase- I think I hit renew or something like that within the app and I wasn’t charged anything and got my unlimited notebooks. Maybe you can try something similar to receive your benefits.

No, your GN5 data won't be lost. GN6 is an additional upgrade you may purchase if you want, but GN5 users don't have to get it to keep their stuff or continue using the app.

As a 6th grader who had Goodnotes 5 but didn’t use it I was planning to use it for when I had things to journal and take note of but since it upgraded (which they barely changed anything) I can’t use it due to how much it costs but the stupidest thing is how I can’t use the app at all. They should have tried to give students who don’t have money or are on a budget a free version. Nothing too fancy just a simple app to take the notes we need or journal

No, you don't have to upgrade. GN5 users keep all the original benefits of GN5. GN6 is an added upgrade users can choose to buy.
