Hi John, learned a lot from your videos. You should do one on building. We wanted to build. Saw a builders model and saw an ad that was 4400 sqft for $1.55. So we wanted 2800sqft and said we ca do that. So we met with the builder and asked for 2800 sqft. The 2800 sqft became 2200 sqft. What we did not realize is that the builder was quoting all the spaces ,outdoor, porch, patio and garage in the sqft so they could deflate the price per sqft. There were so many fees that were not included that we would have paid $1.4 for 2200 sqft. Not financially sound. PLEASE EDUCATE PEOPLE ON BUILDING.
Pearl, thank you so much! To begin with, it is important that you work with a good Realtor who will guide you through the process. It can be very confusing. You have a couple of different types of builders. Production builders and true custom builders. Production builders don't really change the floor plans much. A good custom home builder will help you design a home maybe based on something you saw. This is probably the case for you. You have to keep the builders going in one direction. ONLY heated sq. ft. I agree with the building video. It is a great idea. So many factors to consider. I will create one. Thanks!
