    I was raised in Beaufort. It has more diversity than Bluffton or Hilton Head. From my experience, I have never experienced any heavy racism. I'm the type who gets along with friends or foes and can put a smile on many faces. Ignore the nay sayers and live your life to the fullest. I still live here and my kids and I are happy. We have God and he's all you need for peace, joy and happiness. Stay blessed!!!!❤️

    Great information Carl! Nothing wrong with honesty. Some of those things (except mosquitos in December) are part of the charm that people are looking for. Very creative way to talk about the the uniqueness of Beaufort.

    @jamessuter551 2 роки тому +8

    The nats are god awful, and the mosquitos are almost big enough to carry you off. Did I mention the flying roaches that come out of the marshes at night? Certainly a sight to see. The salt air will rust everything you have and the humidity is off the chart.

      I was stationed at MCAS BEAUFORT for 3+ years, sir...best time of my life...there are several cities/towns that have historical societies that restrict changes to homes...quit knocking Beaufort, SC and the MCAS...that was your first knock on the area and it makes me SICK that you would do that...

    Thank you for being so informative and candid. It indeed helped us since we're from the Pacific NW and we definitely want to avoid some of these things on the list. Beaufort will be a lovely place to visit ☺

    If you want to follow a rambling man’s reason why not move to South Carolina go for it I live here it is beautiful here yes cost of living is high as retirees love moving here winter is mild warms up towards end of February hurricane season is from June till October we’ve been blessed major hurricane was Hugo in 89 Hurricane Matthew in 2016 which caused some damage on the outer, lying islands, all in all still a nice place to live just my humble opinion and I wasn’t born here

    Lol. Not all of those zoning rules apply. As far as the remodels the zoning rules only apply in the townships and city, they just want you to pay the permit fee. If you live in the incorporated county areas no ones going to force you to follow codes unless you live in a POA/HOA, and even then those are limited to only the exterior. Even if you have a home on the historical register, unless you participate in the home tours they cant control what you do inside your home. What you will have issues with is tree grooming and removal, in Beaufort County they are very serious about their trees! Hurricanes: the locals don’t worry unless Savannah is in the bullseye, if Savannah gets hit Beaufort County is screwed. If you evacuate, TAKE YOUR PETS! Flood insurance is a racket, read the policy well because there’s several important things flood insurance doesn’t cover and it’s expensive with the price rising yearly. If you move here, be respectful of the history and culture! We have families here that are direct descendants of freed slaves, some still live in the family home. All of that being said, us locals love it here and we wont change a thing. #BeautifulBeaufortbytheSea

    Moved here when an acre of land was $5,000. Since then there's been a steady increase in homeless people begging on the streets, traffic now everywhere bumper to bumper, rent went up astronomically, food prices increased, home prices increased, litter and trash everywhere on the streets, no more woods, green trees just new homes and apts built on the marshes, flooding increased at Walmart parking lot, all the fishing spots and beaches are over crowed now, a bunch of people have moved here and the schools are overflowing with bad kids. Still a bunch of low wage jobs. Churches still half empty.

    Another reason not to come is that people moving here is ripping the soul out of Beaufort. I’ve lived here all my life and I remember when Beaufort was more local. When you could recognize everyone to saw. Now tourism has killed places like Fripp and Hunting where I’ve spent my childhood. Beaufort is a beautiful, amazing place and I want it to stay that wat

    I am very interested in moving to low country. I am originally from St. Augustine, now I live on Michigan & have not moved since I was an adult. It’s so hard to know even where to start! I want to live in a historic sort of area that is a smaller town with beautiful views on the coast. I’d love the charming feel of a quaint beach front town with amazing views, marsh included. What are my best options?

    This is going to ruin your chances to run the Chamber of Commerce. Unintentionally, the very things you maligned are the very things that make Beaufort so attractive (except the bugs) Am I crazy to think this might have been a mistake for a realtor? Having lived there off and on over the years and find it nearly perfect, so I'm discounting the "Debbie Downer" aspects of your commentary.

    I guess one issue is the racism and hate for diversity coming at you from all sides. Yikes. I thought the south was chill but clearly completely intolerant. Glad you made the video because the comments are very telling. Sad that you’ve all pretty much made national news because of small town political, psychopathic tyrants and now I see that there’s a ton of bigotry on every angle. Ugly stuff buried in all that “southern charm”. I’m a conservative and was looking to get out of Massachusetts because of winter but we all get along great up here, I guess I’d miss that about the north.
