Mangosteen is available in India.
It is called Kokam phal in Maharashtra.😊
It's NOT the same.
Mangosteen is a fruit, the fruit inside it which you eat is white in colour and looks like a garlic pod.
No this is not kokam… mangosteen’s outer part can’t be eaten… and only white part can be eaten and it is sweet inside… Kokam is fully edible and it’s sour…

We use outer part to make kokam sharbat
And we dry the outer shells for adding tangy and sour taste to daals and Currys throughout the year

Mangosteen is commonly grows in Tripura and other north eastern states too. Though it is light yellow in color. We call it “Kusumai” in our Kokborok language.

When it’s mangosteen season I’ll eat kilos of it. Good for detox. It is said we must eat durian and mangosteen together last they balance up the affect.

We love mangosteen so much but it’s such a bummer that we don’t get those easily in USA. We literally hogged those when we visited Thailand and Cambodia. Love all the tropical fruits!😋
