Surge Protector for Tesla Chargers

I have been worried that a nearby lighting strike would fry my two Tesla wall connectors. I feel the surge protector option may be beneficial. I have not seen any videos that recommend or discuss the need for surge protection for Electric vehicle home charging. When I called the surge protector tech support, the representative said it was a great idea. I have not found out what happens with a nearby lightning strike. Would it be stopped at the Tesla wall connector or continue to the built-in charger in the vehicle. I figure that the connected equipment coverage would possibly pay what my insurance does not cover for any damages.
