Surge Protector for Tesla Chargers
Переглядів 2055 місяців тому
I am not a licensed electrician. For your safety, I recommend that you hire a licensed electrician to perform this install. I have been worried that a nearby lighting strike would fry my two Tesla wall connectors. I feel the surge protector option may be beneficial. I have not seen any videos that recommend or discuss the need for surge protection for Electric vehicle home charging. When I call...
Firman W01682 from Costco: hour meter install and Is it a home backup solution?

1. Hour meter install 2. Parallel operation with 2000 watt load (max parallel load is 3100 watts) 3. Load test single unit 4. Transfer switch to run 70 amp sub-panel Manufacturer: Firman Model: W01682 Fuel Capacity: 0.9 gallons Fuel Type: Gasoline Generator Type: Inverter All Items in the video were purchased by me. I am in no way affiliated with any of the companies. Reliance Controls Transfer...
Wow 299. Its 999 at home depot in Canada.
Do you know if a single one will be able to maintain 1800 watt output?
Unfortunately the Firman W01682 is rated for a max load of 1600 watts. I was able to get 1740 without the overload light turning on. This matches the max speed listed in the manual. I would not recommend using a generator at 100% of the rated max load. At 1,740 watts it was running at 4,850 RPM. Costco has a 3200 watt dual fuel generator for $649. If you already have the W01682, Costco has that on sale for $299.99 It has the parallel cable included. Also there is a MaXpeedingrods 3500 Watt Portable Inverter on Amazon for $479. In addition Mr GarGE reviews generators and takes them apart. . Many are around $400 He will say if the engine is the same as other models.
I am shocked those tiny parallel wires are able to carry the wattage from one generator to the next.
Thanks for this, can you show us the dog bone you used, and the cable going from the DB to the house, the yellow one... Thanks!
The dog bone is from Amazon: BOEEMI Generator Transfer Switch L5-30P to L14-30R Adapter Cord. The power cord is the Southwire 65172840 L14-30 20-Foot 30A-mp Generator Cord also from Amazon.
@@diy_smith thanks! Another question please, in parallel how many amps can it put out? Single unit does 13.3 if I'm not mistaken...
At minute 13:27 I test one unit up to 14.41 amps at 1,730 watts. This is very close to the red light illumination. The most I ran both units in parallel was around 2,900 watts at 24 amps. I tried keeping the load around 2,100 watts at 17amps. I would wait for the central heat to cycle off before using the microwave or coffee maker.
Final Question I promise lol, again thanks you've been very helpful... Just to clarify, for running to your panel, on the generator side, you have genny 1and genny 2 connected just with the supplied parallel cables, and just have the dogbone connected to genny 1 (or 2), and an L14 extension cable from the dogbone to the panel? Is that right? I'm just a bit confused about the "energizing both circuits with dogbone that splits 120 into 2 legs" part.
Great explanation. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
