Still though, to most people, paying extra for an economy seat with a few extra perks does make it seem like they’re getting “premium” economy. The whole naming and branding thing is really confusing.
On domestic markets it is considered their premium economy. I will say it is very different from extra seats on UA and AA as it IS its own cabin and it is a different seat type.
@@sanspotter definitely! You can't beat that layout.... I recently flew DL 763 from jfk to lax. I was actually looking forward to it, but the fact that you can't get a decent snack on board (not even buying it) made the experience not very good. Next time? A pre departure meal is a must.
I flew this class of service as couple weeks ago and they boarded comfort+ right after first class and before medallion and we got some ‘premium’ snacks like chips and stuff out of a basket. I was happy with it. It was SFO to MSP.
On the Delta app it does not promise a luxury flight. It gives the exact picture & description of everything that Delta Comfort Plus including inches of leg room & reclining. On an only 4 hour flight Delta states that flyers get a snack, not a dinner. That's why it's not expensive. Any misconceptions are purely from the customer that didn't read the description.
I'm 99% sure no one has ever called Comfort+ "Premium Economy" 😆 (especially because Delta does have a proper Premium Economy product and never sells C+ as that). C+ is basically the same as AA's Main Cabin Extra and UA's Economy Plus. When I first saw this video, I thought it was going to be one of Delta's actual Premium Economy seats on a domestic route, but that gets marketed and sold as Comfort+. I think people can be overly positive about DL and they need more criticism (saying this as a Platinum Medallion), but this one kinda missed the marked. Your expectations were way off and never really aligned with how C+ is usually marketed.
They actually do sell C+ as their Premium Select seats on all domestic flights operated by the 767-400, A350, A330neo and select 763 and 332/3 flights that are equipped with the product.
@@jasoncassady6286 But the key is that it's sold as Comfort+, not PS. Flew their A350 between DTW and LAX last year. Got upgraded right away to their PS seats but it was marked as Comfort+, and the typical Comfort+ seats are marked as Preferred if there are Premium Select/Economy seats. Delta only sells Premium Select on international routes. American is the same way. Flew their 787 and their Premium Economy seats were sold as MCE.
The point of this video was that most people (not frequent flyers) have no idea that Comfort Plus isn’t premium economy. Since when is paying for a better economy experience not “premium economy”? I knew I was taking a risk titling this one the way I did, but I’m basically calling delta out for having a confusing product naming scheme. 😄
@@sanspotter I feel like those same people are the ones who buy basic economy and then are shocked when they can't sit with their family and all have middle seats throughout the cabin. I know flying these days requires more research, but also these products didn't appear overnight. Maybe I'm just a mean grump, but I feel like many of the complaints, whether about Spirit, Southwest, or Delta, come from people who didn't take a few minutes to Google what they were getting. Now if you want a real scam, target the "preferred" seats the airlines have. Where they are literally the same economy seats (no extra legroom outside of the exit row) but cost extra unless you're a Silver Medallion (or higher) simply because they're at the front of the cabin. I don't mind the airlines having preferred seats for elites, but selling them to the general public seems like a money grab.
@@sanspotter thank you for the clarification. I was about to call you out on this but when you put it this way I agree. You left out the part that Delta discontinued premium snacks for C+ upon the onset of the pandemic.
I had a great Delta crew to and from LAX-HND in 2017.. I did have a little spill on my knee with the jetbridge after landing in HND.. the flight crew rushed to my aide and assistance after my fall.. the HND gate crew even asked if I requested for a doctor too.. (I didn’t need a doctor assistance) I didn’t have to wait long waiting to pass through HND clearance.. and I had the same flight crew going back on the HND-LAX flight..
The first time I was in comfort plus, it was in a bulkhead, aisle seat with the middle seat empty. Not only was it comfy and roomy, but it felt pretty great - no complaint at all. ;-)
@@badgerattoadhall I understand what you are saying. My problem is wide shoulders and no economy seat helps there. Rubbing shoulders with your seat mate might be OK for a short flight but long haul, you better be married thereafter.
Delta Premium Select is Delta’s true premium economy, believe it’s only on their A350’and A330 Neos, & updated 767s). I flew in it on an A350 from PVG to DTW back in 2018 it was excellent. It’s better than their domestic first class (at least Pre-shamdemic it was)
Yeah, I’ve done A350 premium select as well. It’s nice! The point of this video was to help make people (non frequent flyers) aware that paying extra for a better economy seat isn’t always “premium economy”.
I've flown premium select pre and during covid. There was a MASSIVE reduction in service...like the meal being a small oven tray covered thing, a small salad and a gas station cookie.
This is your own fault, my friend!! I disagree with just about everything in this video. Comfort Plus has its own priority boarding group - you don't need status! Your boarding pass actually showed COMF+, so you were all good to board early. Delta only allows Diamond Medallion and coveted 360 to board first with First/Delta One. Platinum Medallion and below status boards AFTER Comfort+. I know because I am Diamond... The gate agents sometimes don't announce but the display will show the proper sequence - it's computerized. Purple is for Diamond/360/First/DeltaOne, then Red for Comfort+... after that, Sky Priority, which is for Platinum and Gold...and SkyTeam Elite and partner elites. Silver Medallion gets to board barely ahead of non-status Economy. Delta actually use better seat padding in Comfort+ besides more legroom, they are more comfortable than the counterparts in UA and AA. In addition, you get premium snacks that Economy does not get. Lastly, you get free alcoholic drinks as well...even Domestic Comfort+. I think this is the case of you didn't figure out the perks/benefits of Comfort+ and incorrectly faulted Delta. The ONLY real fault of Comfort+ is when it's on a 767 - some configurations have these seats right next to the restrooms, which can be smelly and noisy on long haul flights.
The only thing I may have missed is the fact that they serve free alcohol in Comfort Plus. Not exactly something I’m craving at 6:30am. 😄 Perhaps I presented my thoughts poorly in this video, but the fact remains that I paid more for a better economy experience (“premium economy”) and it was essentially regular economy class with a few extra inches of legroom. I’m sure that comfort plus is better on other aircraft (the A350 and 767-400 specifically), but all I was trying to say was that it’s not all that great on the 767-300.
@@sanspotter You are off on many things sorry to say. No, the Comfort Plus seats on A350 B767 A330 are not any better. They are the same. You are confusing "Premium Select" available on widebodies with that of "Comfort Plus". Comfort Plus is Delta's name for more-legroom economy. Premium Select is that of premium economy or deluxe economy. The widebodies' Comfort Plus is exactly the same as on you experienced. There is one other thing that Delta does well and that's keeping things very consistent. Last data to add, the Comfort Plus section's fare code is economy. Delta hasn't use the premium economy fare class designation for awhile now... Just because consumption of alcohol in early morning flight is not common, it doesn't negate its value. Much like in late night/midnight flights, many people do not consume caffeinated coffee, it doesn't negate the existence or value of that drink product. Again, having use the same "more-legroom" economy on UA and AA, Delta is still better. The cost premium of Comfort Plus is significantly less than Premium Select. Delta does a pretty decent job at listing all this during the book process and dynamically show the correct info for the aircraft type. I've booked and flown hundreds and hundreds of flights with Delta and the stuff you are pointing out is just not fair or accurate.
I am 6ft 6 and always fly main cabin on Delta (no premium pay extra seats.) And i fit comfortably. That is why is i chose delta to cross the pond when going to Tenerife. (I am on united's inaugural flight to tenrife in june).
Scott, you are correct that many of us are not familiar with the terminology for the various premium economy, premium select, comfort plus, economy plus, etc., etc… My husband and I fly frequently (Platinum status on two major airlines) yet we avoid anything below first or business class for this very reason. Keep up the great videos and your fabulous sense of humor!
Different than my experience from JFK-BOG on the 300ER in main cabin. We get snacks and booze then turkey and cheese sandwich with booze plus a pillow and blanket. It's also an international flight so that may be the difference. The 300ER will be removed around March and replaced with the 757-200 on JFK-BOG route
That’s not premium economy. “Premium Select” is the actual delta premium economy which can be found on their 767-400ERs, a330neos, a350s and now a330s. Comfort+ is just economy with extra legroom which is on all of their planes
Which is kind of the point I was trying to make (but perhaps failed miserably at 😅). Most people (non frequent flyers and AvGeeks) don’t know the difference and expect something much nicer when choosing to spend more on a better product.
I've flown on that exact route and plane about 10 years ago with my Dad. I'm 6'2"...He was 6'1". Getting the extra legroom was a no brainer for us both. Sad to see they haven't upgraded the cabin since then. 😢
Scott is correct reasoning this version of premium economy is not what you want on a LONG flight to Europe. We experienced it twice on a round trip and man it was not comfortable, it was miserable. I’ll be on the lookout for the A350 experience in the future.
Not surprising, American 'Premium Economy' is the same way. I'm flying this route on the B764 in Delta One, I can't wait to get my box of snacks :) lol
But at least you’ll have a lie flat seat to lay down and cry in afterwards. 🤣 Enjoy the flight! No, you won’t be fed very well, but the seat itself is pretty awesome.
They need to be clear about the difference between Premium Economy and Economy Plus. Premium Economy has a proper wide seat, while Economy Plus just gives you legroom.
Yeah, the naming conventions the airlines are using to describe some of these products certainly muddies the water. I’ve got the same beef with Apple for making everything “Pro”. 😄
"Let's be honest this is basically economy class". Exactly Comfort Plus IS economy same everything just more legroom. To be clear on other flights Delta does have an upgraded Premium Economy. If your ticket is for comfort plus that isn't it. It is economy with more legroom. For those of us 6 ft+ it is the bare minimum. Food, seats, IFE, everything is is exactly economy but with the seats having a longer pitch.
I don’t think Delta markets this as premium economy. It’s called Comfort+ which is basically an extra legroom economy seat on most airlines. There’s normally another cabin that slots above the extra legroom seats which is called PY.
I’m flying this class in March I had an unused credit with them so I decided to use it for an international flight to Portugal I’m ok with it being subpar 😂 I just wanted to use that credit it saved me a lot of money
I'm flying Comfort Plus from SFO to Athens... SFO to JFK is 767, JFK to Athens is a330. I just went through the list of features and Delta claims that in addition to early boarding I'll also get complimentary beer and wine, extra legroom and premium snacks. That's for the domestic leg. We'll see how it goes!
Saw a few routes that had them out of PHX! I’m on a PHX-ATL flight in a few weeks, and it’s listed right now as this 767 bird. I wouldn’t be disappointed if they made a switch the morning of LoL. I use to like the 757 on the PHX-DTW route too.
Secondly, I still love the 767s on international and long haul domestic. They are great aircraft. Again, thank you for sharing your trips. You are right about food. I have brought a meal and snacks in the airport and then taking taking that onboard when sitting in the Exit Rows in Economy Class in general.
Oh, thank you for sharing your liking of aircraft. Yes, I still do like the 767s. Then I also like the 777s for the long-haul trips as well. The old 747-400s are gone into retirement so, I in general still need for me to feel comfortable with more space to relax in while traveling on those aircraft.
They usually say they have snack boxes for purchase economy but i have not seen flight attendants offer them. They must only be upon request. I don’t understand why delta is trying to hide the buy on board menu.
Did 13.5 hours on that plane back in 2018 from SEA>ICN and sat in Y+ like you. The extra legroom made all the difference in the world to me as someone who is 6'3. But everything else was the same like you showed. Do they no longer offer free alcohol in Y+ like they did pre-pandemic?
Comfort+ is basically like the "Economy Plus" in UA and "Main Cabin Extra" in AA. Those are not Premium Economy. AA and UA have real Premium Economy cabin on top of Econ Plus and MCE. It just means Delta doesn't really have Premium Economy Class.
I had a comfort+ ticket from ATL to TPA recently on a 767 and I had a middle isle 2x2 seat config, with a full reclining chair and leg rest… weird how the same plane can be so different
When I flew Delta from the US to Japan and back in Nov 2019, the Comfort+ seats were much wider and more padded and I’ve seen a few other sources state that Comfort+ gets the Business class meal options. Is that just on international flights or on Airbus or other Boeings?
Technically, you are correct. Premium Select is the “true” DL premium economy product. The problem (and the entire point of this video) is that most people think that Comfort Plus *is* premium economy. I mean, since when is paying extra for a better economy seat not premium economy?
'Me thinks' that it's all about what you can do with the difference in cost to maximize the quality of the overall journey. You can pay for first class and an 8 oz meal and an alcoholic drink... or premium economy with minimally larger seat with free bottled water... or just go coach and spend the money you save on hotel accommodations or whatnot. If you can get by without flying domestically you may wanna just drive, stay in mid classed hotels, and eat quite well for the same price. Remember... those sitting in the front are spending $thousands to get there.
I am a Platinum Medallion so pretty much all my flights are in Comfort+, with few lucky Delta One upgrades. Your medallion status does not matter when it comes to boarding. If you are Comfort+, you will board with all Comfort+ passengers. Status does not matter.
I think Delta service can only be fancy on the routes they select fancy to be a part of the experience. On the others you pay the same you just don't get fancy. I did used to like them very much however. Thanks as always Scot, your vlog accompanied my morning coffee perfectly.
first, thanks for the shoutout! second, i really dislike the DL 767-300 even in their retrofitted Delta One product, mostly because those planes are poorly maintained/so old that the overall experience in every cabin suffers. the 757-400 that's retrofitted seems to be a step up, as well as the Airbus models you called out. Glad you made it safely though!
You’re very welcome - and thanks to you for the support! My next video is actually going to be about Delta One on the 767-300, and for what it was (a lie flat seat on a domestic flight from ATL to SAN), it was fine. The food though! It’s like they’ve totally given up and are hoping that nobody will notice…
@@sanspotter my partner has abandoned his meal once or twice because it was that bad to him (I’ll always eat the bread though) We fly the 767-300 cross country from New York to SF a few times a year and have experienced broken chairs, parts of the plane taped (like you’ve shown) and broken IFE screens. I think it’s mostly luck of the draw with the age/quality of plane you’ll get 😬
@@sanspotter Delta is selling the One seats on this 767-300 between PHX-ATL for $800! I got my Comfort+ for about $450. The leg room alone for my height is worth the extra $100 IMO.
The good thing is that the 763’s are getting an actual premium economy product during the next 2 years. So you should try to do a proper one when you get the chance to fly on a refitted aircraft!
The Mountainbiker is here!!!! I'm late but I'm here !!!! You came to Atlanta me neck of the woods and didn't hit me up !!!!!! Your favourite Mountainbiker.??lol Welp got my redbull & subway !!! Let's FREAKING go another Sanspotter video!!!!!!!! The Mountainbiker is here!!!!!! Lol
I have delta a lot between Orlando and different parts of the country. Sadly I am moving on to another airline. It’s like they don’t care about their passengers any longer. They just stuff you in and give you a water and goldfish for the next 5 hours and never come back around.
...once out of the pandemic (if it ever happens) I am sure that cabin service will improve. That said, as someone who is tall with two forms of debilitating arthritis and circulatory matters, getting that extra legroom is a huge benefit. No way could I crowbar my tall stiff unlimber frame into a "steerage class" seat where the person in front ends up in my lap through much of the flight. Premium Economy seating is pretty much what Coach used to be in the days before deregulation. Basic economy, well, a Greyhound bus has more legroom (24" - 25" seat pitch). Yeah hat is ow bad air travel in the states has become. As to downsides, the two ones for me are flying on a narrowbody aircraft like a 737, 757 or A320/321 because you still have that cursed middle seat to deal with (like when nature decides to make a call) and you still pay luggage fees. which if like myself, you travel with two smaller suitcases (I do so to spread the full weight evenly) can add significantly to the cost of the ticket (140$ for a round trip with two checked bags). About the only carry-on I travel with is a small notebook computer case so as to make getting through the TSA checkpoint as quick and painless as possible. That is when I hit the reservation sites and see what prices I can get for advance purchase first class. I've been surprised on occasion to find at time the cost was not terribly much more after I add in the luggage fees to the Comfort+ fare. Once it was something like 32$ which is little more than what dinner and an evening at the cinema costs. Of course the benefit is worth the little extra, as you get to use the lounge, you board first and deplane first, the seats are bigger and you have even more legroom, and you actually get something more than a biscuit bag of crisps and bottle of water or high fructose laden soft drink. Oh and no bored 7 year old kicking the back of your seat throughout the flight. I do admire the fact that Delta Comfort is it's own specific cabin (Alaska does something similar) whereas the other domestic airlines just designate certain rows of seats (usually exit rows and bulkhead) in the main economy cabin for their "premium" service. Sadly, up here in Portland, just about every domestic flight on Delta (even to the east coast and Atlanta) is now a 737-900 or occasionally an A320/321 (not even an older A330, 767 or that sweet little A-220) hence why I usually take the train to SeaTac and fly out of there for a long trip.
Yeah, if you can find a deal on Comfort Plus for just a bit more than regular economy, it’s a fantastic deal! It’s a bummer when one of these seats is a necessity (due to size and or health issues) and the cost is nearly double. I’ve seen that happen a lot and there’s no way I’m paying for that.
@@sanspotter ...yeah usually the difference between a "steerage" and Comfort+ seat is pretty steep. That's why I mentioned I search for deals in First that are not much more than Comfort when the luggage fees.are added. For example if a flight in Comfort+ is 790$ (which comes to 930$ with luggage fees) and there is a 960$ First class fare I'll pay the extra 30$ as there is no luggage fee with the latter. Then it doesn't matter if it's a narrow body jet. Granted, domestic First today is nothing like it used to be in the pre deregulated days or even before 9/11. Speaking of which, back then, First class domestic fares had no where near the markup from Coach ("economy" of the day) as they do today. Perusing some old schedules from the late 60s which listed fares in the back, the difference was between 6$ - 18$ one way. For example a one way First Class fare from San Diego to Washington DC on American in 1968 was only 15$ more than the coach fare. The same on United or TWA as fares were standardised across the board by the government.
Yeah the issue is those 767-300s are old and outdated, so none of the upgrade classes are as nice as they are on the newer Delta planes. This is mostly about the route. Those planes are on the less traveled routes, so if you are doing one of those, you're stuck with the 767-300 -- you probably don't have a choice on Delta. The biggest benefit to Comfort+ is the 2 seat config on the sides. If you are traveling as a couple it's nice to not be stuck with one middle seat or someone between the two of you.
Alright I don’t mean to be that guy BUT if you really wanted to, you very well *could* have went to the galley and asked for more snacks. When my parents were FAs, they often brought a good few unused snacks home that would have otherwise been thrown out.
Flown LHR-ATL-LHR in that exact configuration a while ago. Just as much of a premium experience as you depict. Lovely, mumsy cabin crew, but seat, provisions and, well, everything else are not a patch on BA or Virgin.
Hey Scott, long time no talk! Just about to start watching the video. I and the Mrs returned from TPA last week, we have been in Naples FL almost entire December, so we are back in business LOL. Now waiting for Japan to reopen but if not then next stop Maui!
Economy comfort is an upgraded level in the economy class ,yet not a premium seat !!! Lol Premium economy is the 1st class of the economy class & it's next to business class !! 1st class,( some don't have 1st class anymore even ! ) business class ,then premium ( premium economy ),economy comfort ,or plus ,or de light ( virgin Atlantic. I loved it !! ) it's an upgrade economy class then main cabin economy ,basic economy ( some use different names ! ) ! 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶✈️🎃💞
Just wanted to add that the 767-300’s that are being used Internationally, at least, are being configured with an actual premium economy, the same seen on the A350
Thank you for sharing this trip. Hahaha, I was laughing at the early morning flight with no breakfast food. That was good you went and brought some oatmeal. I an oatmeal traveler but with having eggs and sausage or bacon as well. Wow, flying long haul is always in true Business Class or First. Period!! Us tall guys really need leg the leg!!! And yes if those two cabins are full then in Economy Class seating in the Exit Row is great for more legroom. When we look up the configuration of aircraft while making reservations you can see those Exit Rows to sit in. Hahaha, I still was laughing. And so was First Class available on this flight when you made the reservation? I feel you a ton of mileage points in Delta's Program! Hahaha.
Love the wraparound loo mirrors! Was once on an Allegiant MD-80 that had wraparound mirrors (even a mirror on the door I think) with lots of blue trim on the wall. Still hitting myself for not getting the reg of that aircraft so I could’ve seen who the previous owner was 🥲
It's not really marketed as Premium Economy, it's C+. A true PE seat will be extremely different than what you sat in. But, I take it you know that. And, as C+ you board before Platinum Medallion and below, so saying you board after Medallion members is wrong. It's FC and Dianond, C+, Sky Priority (Platinum/Gold), and then Silver is with MC1. I still enjoy your videoa, but this one had some misleading statements. You expected to much for a C+ seat that only costs minimally more than a Main Cabin ticket.
The point is that most people who volunteer to pay more for a better economy experience will most likely be disappointed by this. And besides…isn’t paying more for a better economy experience technically “premium economy”? Of course it’s not based on the naming convention that Delta came up with, but it’s still confusing to most general travelers. And we did board after Diamond medallions - so technically I wasn’t wrong with what I said (but I do admit that I could have been more clear that it was only Diamond and not Platinum/Gold).
They come and go. Delta tweaks and modifies their schedules often, so even if there aren’t many 767s on internal routes today, it could be a completely different situation a few months from now.
I'm just here for your humour theses days rather than the review, US domestic products really don't impress me that much but the way you review them is hilarious so don't ever loose your sense of humour👍
Just flew this from JFK-MAD and back BCN-JFK and basically yes + two meals (and one is a not filling breakfast) 😂🤕 (but you do get an amenity kit in C+ on long hauls), most annoying thing imo was the lack of a divider in-between the two seats in front where you put your bag under the seat, so your seatmate's bag can end up in your foot space (this woman had a STUFFED large reusable grocery bag on the way going 😳); and I couldn't rotate my backpack horizontally as usual and pull it out to put my legs over my backpack to have extra legroom without interfering with the other person's space 🙄 Trip from the west coast to Spain and back was only 36K miles in C+ RT though so I won't complain too much 😆
Funny I flew ATL-SEA on a B767-400ER and decided to say screw it and go "Economy +" Only for it to basically be a domestic first class seat, best flight of my life! Though the lie flats would've been fun!
I booked my flight from SFO to JFK in May and I’ve been watching your delta flight reviews! Im on a 737-300 so it sounds like I won’t get the brand new business class model. I currently have economy and considering just doing the comfort plus. What are your thoughts? Also, great stuff you’re putting out there!
This product is 'economy with extra legroom' while the real Premium Economy is a different class of service. Was that product not installed on these aircraft? I noticed that Delta does fly to Europe with these 767s, it sounds odd to me that they would not feature a real premium economy product on those routes..
OMG, Delta Comfort+ is so sad... I just did that on a small plane (same seat), but there you expect a seat like that. I was just wondering: if they call it Comfort PLUS, then they already would have to call their regular coach "COMFORT", right? Well, that's the last word that comes to mind. - but so nice that you did the report... Informative as always! And VERY clear to not choose that plane on a long flight to Europe!
Comfort plus its not premium economy, its economy with extra space. I will use United airlines because it Will be easier to explain the diferent classes. 1) United economy 2 United economy plus (economy with extra space) 3) United primium plus (real premium economy) 4) United polaris business ( business class or first domestic) In these video you flew with the option 2 economy plus no option 3 premium economy.
Yeah, that makes sense. I just think that the airlines are digging themselves a hole by offering economy products with more perks but saying its wrong to call it premium economy.
@@sanspotter totally agree with you, airlines are making all these tricks to sell more and at the end we the paseengers if we dont get more information before fly we will get a dissapoinment. Great video btw. 👍
Flew Comfort Plus SFO-JFK Flight 300 6/2/21. Very underwhelmed. Lazy, rude and inattentive flight crew. I can practically feel the eye rolls when I rang for snacks and water. Also didn’t see much difference between the Comfort Plus product over Main Cabin. I am a Silver Medallion member. #medallionlife #delta #deltaairlines #edbastian.
Unless I'm mistaken, you weren't in premium economy (aka Premium Select), but just economy with more legroom, aka Comfort+. That's why the seats are the way they are, and why it's 2-3-2 (width of seat identical to basic economy). And dude, are you comparing international premium economy on international carriers with an American carrier's economy+ (econ with more leg room), on a domestic flight....? They're not in the same category, my friend ;-)
I’m very confused. Premium Economy is a completely separate class and a bigger seat. You booked Comfort+. Why are you acting like it’s PE? You’re acting like you should get a meal when you just book economy with extra legroom.
That’s kind of the point of this video. People who know a lot about Delta and the aviation industry (such as yourself) know exactly what Comfort plus is. But it’s probably really confusing to many who decide to pay extra for a better economy experience, only to realize later that it’s not much different than basic economy. To most people (I assume), paying extra for a better economy experience IS “premium economy.” The once-a-year flyers have no clue what Comfort + and Premium Select are.
Love your videos man I remember when you had only 1.1k subscribers great for you. Was wondering it be cool if you did an air Canada and west jet comparison like you did Korean air and asiana
Comfort plus is not premium economy its just an extra legroom seat with free alcohol. Premium Economy is marketed Delta Premium Select.
Still though, to most people, paying extra for an economy seat with a few extra perks does make it seem like they’re getting “premium” economy. The whole naming and branding thing is really confusing.
@@sanspotter Purposely, of course. The more confusion, the better for the airlines.
On domestic markets it is considered their premium economy. I will say it is very different from extra seats on UA and AA as it IS its own cabin and it is a different seat type.
Might not be as fancy as some other premium products, but man I'd take that 2 x 3 x 2 config over pretty much any other one
Gotta love the 767! 2-3-2 is pretty much the perfect layout.
Yeah, if you know what to expect going into it, it’s not a bad product. Perfectly fine for 3-4 hour flights!
Comfort+ isn’t “Premium Economy”, it’s literally just more room, that’s it
It's a considerable amount more for *sufficient* leg room rather than regular economy which is a DVT waiting to happen.
Not only was it comfy and roomy, but it felt pretty great - no complaint at all. ;-)
I fly comfort+ almost every time I fly.
It's just economy with extra leg room.
It makes a big difference on transatlantic flights.
You seem smarter than most other posters. Of course, you flew it and know.
@@WilliamMurphy-uv9pm thank you. for a 2 hour flight no big deal; for a 10-hour flight those 4 extra inches are huge.
@@badgerattoadhall I understand what you are saying. My problem is wide shoulders and no economy seat helps there. Rubbing shoulders with your seat mate might be OK for a short flight but long haul, you better be married thereafter.
I enjoy it when I'm in comfort+. I'll take the extra legroom, dedicated snack basket and free alcoholic drinks if I'm in the mood
@@badgerattoadhall doesn’t surprise me 🤷♂️🤦♂️
@@mattg7372 basically it was a premium select seat and nothing else. disposable utensils, plastic cups, coach meals. yeah.
😂😂😂😂 shamdemic is right
This is your own fault, my friend!!
Comfort Plus isn't supposed to be Premium Economy though lol, it's literally economy with more legroom
Thanks so much Kat! Happy new year!
Definitely do the A350 (or 767-400) next time! It’ll be a completely different (better) experience.
Did you mention the complimentary alcohol, beer, and wine that’s offered in Comfort+??
What are you saying? Got to be buzzed to the max to enjoy those few perks? I get it!
The quality of your video is impressive. I booked comfort + for the free alcohol.
During 2020 and the beginning of 2021, those flying Delta in Comfort Plus boarded last due to social distancing when boarding
Oof. Can’t imagine paying more to board last!
love your commentary
Thanks Ashwani!
Love the videos Scott! One of the best aviation channels on UA-cam!
I’m flying this class in March I had an unused credit with them so I decided to use it for an international flight to Portugal
I’m ok with it being subpar 😂 I just wanted to use that credit it saved me a lot of money
That is true
I'll pop back in and let you know how it went!
Happy New Year, Sanspotter.
Better to go in Economy and using the saving to buy lounge access before the flight?
Comfort Plus is not the same as Premium Economy, it is 2 different seatings areas
Delta operates the A330-300 from PHX - ATL and is sometimes substituted with the A330 -900
I’d be all over that if I lived in Phoenix! I had no idea that the A330-900 had ever been to PHX.
I have brought a meal and snacks in the airport and then taking taking that onboard when sitting in the Exit Rows in Economy Class in general.
me too. the 767 is by far my favorite plane for transatlantic flights.
@@LMays-cu2hp i have never flown on a 777.
i have been on a 767-400er 3 times, but never a 777.
I hear you!! Yes, the 777s are nice. I have flown on United Airlines for both of these aircraft.
Delta Premium Economy and Comfort Plus are two very different products.
Us crew call it economy comfort.
They usually say they have snack boxes for purchase economy but i have not seen flight attendants offer them. They must only be upon request. I don’t understand why delta is trying to hide the buy on board menu.
There was no mention of them being offered on this flight. Which is unfortunate because I totally would’ve took them up on it.
C+ still gets free alcohol and maintained it during the pandemic on most flights.
They do on international flights.
If you want staying power with oatmeal toss in a few nuts or a small dab of butter. Something with a few fat grams helps you feel full longer.
I had a comfort+ ticket from ATL to TPA recently on a 767 and I had a middle isle 2x2 seat config, with a full reclining chair and leg rest… weird how the same plane can be so different
Great review! Goldfish for a second course! Good times!! :)
Life is always better with Goldfish! 😆
When I flew Delta from the US to Japan and back in Nov 2019, the Comfort+ seats were much wider and more padded and I’ve seen a few other sources state that Comfort+ gets the Business class meal options. Is that just on international flights or on Airbus or other Boeings?
Always enjoy watching your stuff. Well written.
Thanks so much! 👊🏻
Amazing video Scott!😸
Thanks Ryan! 😎👍🏻
Love the 767. Germany trips with my wife!
Comfort+ isn't Premium Economy, you should update the title...
Technically, you are correct. Premium Select is the “true” DL premium economy product. The problem (and the entire point of this video) is that most people think that Comfort Plus *is* premium economy. I mean, since when is paying extra for a better economy seat not premium economy?
@@sanspotter understand your point, it's a good thing to clarify with travelers.
Hey Scott! Just found your channel today and it immediately is going in my top “aviation enthusiast” channels! I love your video style! Keep it up!
I am a Platinum Medallion so pretty much all my flights are in Comfort+, with few lucky Delta One upgrades. Your medallion status does not matter when it comes to boarding. If you are Comfort+, you will board with all Comfort+ passengers. Status does not matter.
One of your best!
I think Delta service can only be fancy on the routes they select fancy to be a part of the experience. On the others you pay the same you just don't get fancy. I did used to like them very much however. Thanks as always Scot, your vlog accompanied my morning coffee perfectly.
You’re very welcome! A bitter review for a bitter drink. ☕️😅

tbh a little research would have shown, that premium select is premium eco :D that is just eco plus with more legroom
first, thanks for the shoutout! second, i really dislike the DL 767-300 even in their retrofitted Delta One product, mostly because those planes are poorly maintained/so old that the overall experience in every cabin suffers. the 757-400 that's retrofitted seems to be a step up, as well as the Airbus models you called out.
The only perk of Comport Plus is the free booze. Pre-Covid it used to have an upgraded snack basket.

I have delta a lot between Orlando and different parts of the country. Sadly I am moving on to another airline. It’s like they don’t care about their passengers any longer. They just stuff you in and give you a water and goldfish for the next 5 hours and never come back around.
Flew PHX-BOS PE the other night, not impressed. Locked the Alcohol bin on a A-321 after being in the air for an hour, plane was maybe a third full.
...once out of the pandemic (if it ever happens) I am sure that cabin service will improve.
Sadly, up here in Portland, just about every domestic flight on Delta (even to the east coast and Atlanta) is now a 737-900 or occasionally an A320/321 (not even an older A330, 767 or that sweet little A-220) hence why I usually take the train to SeaTac and fly out of there for a long trip.
the least legroom on any airline in the us is 28 inches, delta is usually 31 so I don’t get what you mean by 24-25” legroom
@@AshmewStudios ..at thanks for pointing that out, it was a typo, I meant 34" - 35"
@@bcshelby4926 ah ok
Nice video once again Thanks Scott 👍
Thanks Robert! And you’re very welcome! 👊🏻
DL crews seem to be hit or miss these days as well, so it’s good that you had a good experience in both directions!

Just wanted to add that the 767-300’s that are being used Internationally, at least, are being configured with an actual premium economy, the same seen on the A350
That’s good to know! They must be all 767-400s then, because I’m aware of only one 763 that has been updated (sort of).

Still hitting myself for not getting the reg of that aircraft so I could’ve seen who the previous owner was 🥲
Mirrors on the door?? They just don’t make airplanes like they used to. 😄
Agreed, very misleading video. I enjoy most of his videos but he sure missed the mark on this one.
Does delta still use the 767-300 on many international routes? I’ve seen mainly their 330’s and 350’s these days. Maybe out of jfk.
They come and go. Delta tweaks and modifies their schedules often, so even if there aren’t many 767s on internal routes today, it could be a completely different situation a few months from now.
Just had flights in November and December from JFK to MAD (Madrid) and BCN (Barcelona) to JFK and they both were on the 767-300 😬
I'm just here for your humour theses days rather than the review, US domestic products really don't impress me that much but the way you review them is hilarious so don't ever loose your sense of humour👍
Thanks! US airlines aren’t all that great in general, but they do provide lots of fun talking points for the videos. 😄
Premium Economy seems to vary a lot between airlines much more than Economy and Buisness either side.

Just flew this from JFK-MAD and back BCN-JFK and basically yes + two meals (and one is a not filling breakfast) 😂🤕 (but you do get an amenity kit in C+ on long hauls), most annoying thing imo was the lack of a divider in-between the two seats in front where you put your bag under the seat, so your seatmate's bag can end up in your foot space (this woman had a STUFFED large reusable grocery bag on the way going 😳); and I couldn't rotate my backpack horizontally as usual and pull it out to put my legs over my backpack to have extra legroom without interfering with the other person's space 🙄
Trip from the west coast to Spain and back was only 36K miles in C+ RT though so I won't complain too much 😆
Funny I flew ATL-SEA on a B767-400ER and decided to say screw it and go "Economy +" Only for it to basically be a domestic first class seat, best flight of my life!

Yeah that’s not premium economy…. That’s just regular c+.
Cross country with extra legroom and free alcohol? Count me in.
Comfort plus its not premium economy, its economy with extra space.
I will use United airlines because it Will be easier to explain the diferent classes.
1) United economy
2 United economy plus (economy with extra space)
3) United primium plus (real premium economy)
4) United polaris business ( business class or first domestic)
In these video you flew with the option 2 economy plus no option 3 premium economy.
Has San Diego Internation started on the renovation of Terminal 1 yet? I heard that it was to begin soon.. Love the reviews. Keep them coming.
Enjoyed 👍👍👍👍👍
10:02 seat number pls ?
16A 👍🏻
Starbucks oatmeal is really good, now just imagine they had a chicken and rice flavor pack.
@@sanspotter on conf + you do get boarding priority even before "sky priority" and the extra leg room is much better than a regular main cabin seat.
Love your videos man I remember when you had only 1.1k subscribers great for you. Was wondering it be cool if you did an air Canada and west jet comparison like you did Korean air and asiana
The blueberry things were just awful. I tried once of those last October in that section.
