MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is coming exclusively not on Xbox. In this video DreamcastGuy talks about the state of Xbox and how game developers are skipping the console porting games because of Xbox Game Pass effecting sales according to SkillUp on the Friends Per Second podcast. Recently we got news that Black Myth Wukong was delayed on the Xbox because the Xbox Series X can handle it but Xbox Series S is having trouble running it. Such a misleading video. Capcom vs Marvel is skipping xbox as its using the MT engine which xbox no longer supports as capcom moved to the RE engine. The ps5 dev kits no longer support the MT engine either that's why there is no ps5 version

"Physical" games is a misnomer these days. Most of these "physical" games require huge downloads and updates before you can play, so technically they are the same as digital. I also have gamepass, and have bought and own over 200 games bought digitally on xbox, and that works for me @@Sladey1601

In January, tech radar had an article where Larian director of publishing Michael Douse cites “a huge technical hurdle” in getting the split-screen co-op component running on the series x.

Is because the MT framework which is not supported on Xbox one series x/s. Only on ps4 and Nintendo /pc. MT framework is old engine that runs those games. Maybe explain it better Dreamcast is too why
But why it does not support XB but it support Switch? A newer console. Ultimately the reason is cost/sales ratio. They did want to invest on XB porting from the start

Game Pass conditioned the consumer base not to buy games, and this is a byproduct of that. Unless your game is going straight to Game Pass, there's not much incentive to release on Xbox. Or I should say, less incentive. Compared to the competition.

This was already a thing for the Xbox One. Half of the games I had on my PS4 were not available on Xbox or were only made available right at the end.

They have basically been following Nintendo's strategy (how they have stopped buying both spaces at these shows years before Sony did) they save money by putting their own shows together and don't worry about having to do an awkward live show. But I'm sure what will not be taken into account, because you seem like you are fishing for a reason to throw stones, do to whatever internal beef you have with PlayStation.

The thing about the switch for me is I play it for all my indies and even though I have a steam deck, I love having physicals and will wait a year after announcement for it to hit the platform. I even waited for pentiment to be offered via limited run on switch to before buying.

That’s a shame. Alan Wake 2 ran much better on Xbox. I liked it so much, I also got the season pass there as well. I normally play PS5 or PC, but sometimes games run better on Xbox.

This is the key. There is no native PS5 version because it’s the most cost effective choice to mint the ps4 version instead. Everyone on the massive ps4 userbase who wants it will buy it, everyone on the massive ps5 userbase who wants it will buy it, and with a switch cartridge everyone on that exponentially massive userbase will buy it. Xbox users are conditioned not to buy software to begin with, so why make that version?
Capcom know us PS5 users will just download the PS4 version to save space. We don't need a native PS5 version for such an old game

I agree with your points, but the Netflix/Renting model is unfortunately the future. Of all the netflix shows you have watched, think about how much it would've costed you to buy every movie or season of a show. Is it less than $10/month? Will your hardware be able to run it from DVD/BR degradation and laser burnout? Or would you rather have it along with more shit you could ever watch in your lifetime for cheaper?
People these days don't sink thousands of hours into games because the selection is too high aside from maybe 100 games out of the millions out there.
It's one thing if the goal of your game development studio is to make a game a creative has a vision for like Hideo Kojima, but everyone has to be fine with the hit which is common.
The most common goal with game devs in 2024 is to make money above all else.
When it comes to ohysical games. There are a lot of Switch only physical releases, where PS and Xbox the release would be digital only, because Switch owners love physical. Even now, VGP and PlayAsia fly through reprinted stock of Baten Kaitos and FF Pixel remastered collections for a good reason.
Ask Phil and his stupid console parity with the Series S(hitty). At this point Sony just gets console exclusivity without doing anything.

The point made at 6:32 is spot on and being a content creator, you have to be mindful of the unreasonably negative videos that go up for the Xbox. The console is all but dead in Europe partly because of all the negative articles and videos that go up about the brand. The mindset of the core gamer went from Why buy an Xbox since all their games get released on PC to All Xbox games will go to PS5, Nobody buys Xbox games and Xbox is now a 3rd party publisher.
All of this is starting to come to pass as smaller developers who don't have access to sales data on Xbox will believe those gamers and choose not to put their games on Xbox while Sony will continue to make exclusivity deals with major publishers to not put their games on Xbox. All of this is chipping away at the confidence gamers have with Xbox.
it does make me sad, because I'm always console agnostic, but due to my history of gaming I usually always buy Xbox, and buy the majority of the games I own on that platform. I get fairly letdown seeing how Limited physical releases end up bypassing the Series lineup, and I have to usually choose a different option, but I know that for some people that isn't always an option. some people are only Xbox, and like being a kid back in the day, if you only had and Xbox, that's a game that you'll have to miss out on, and it is definitely a bummer to see that happening.

I own 700+ xbox games. I only own about 10 playstation games. Most of my xbox games are bought using Microsoft rewards. I always buy my games when they have sales after it's been out for at least a year. Not because I think it will go to gamepass but Day 1 games are always broken and missing content. After a year the game is usually optimized and has a plethora of DLC in some cases.
MT Framework isn’t supported on Xbox Series X|S due to it being an old engine and this goes for the PS5 as well and Capcom is still releasing games on Xbox as they have the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection as well as Kunitsu-Gami coming out this summer on the system so they are most definitely not skipping the console so do a little more research before jumping to conclusions.

The PS5 has better performance overall. I have both consoles. I have played copies of the same games on both. One of the biggest examples is Cyberpunk 2077. Games just run better on PS5, it's a fact. The main problem with Xbox is that developers are forced to work on games that will run on both Series X AND Series S, otherwise Xbox will not sell it. Series S is holding Xbox back, so technically, yes, Xbox is under powered. This is coming from someone who grew up on the 360. Playstation still sucks when it comes to backwards compatibility. I shouldn't have to choose and figure out the confusion between buying a PS4 or PS5 copy.

I'm weird with my consoles. I prefer to play fighters, and JRPGs on PS5. Sports, FPSs, and non-JRPGs on XBOX. Everything else, on Switch. I'll play the exclusives on their respective consoles.
The only “reasonable” reason to not release something on Xbox is because the condition of developing for both X and S. The rest of reason can also apply to Play (type of user, predominant genre, etc.)
To say that some GP user actually buy games make the exception no the rule, and is also something people need to accept: YES, Xbox is a GP machine for the vast majority
I have an Xbox series x, ps5, switch and ps4. My strategy has been to enjoy gaming in a cheap way. Outside of Gow ragnarok and Zero Dawn 2 I have not paid full price for any game since I got my console in 2021. I enjoy games through game pass or whatever ps plus gives me. I have the highest tier of ps plus and get good deals. I am basically a subscriber gamer and happy with both.

I literally don't understand this comment haha. It matters because this is a fairly decent sized list of games that Xbox players won't get so they're obviously annoyed haha? Especially ones like marvel Vs capcom thats a big one. Or even the ones they are getting are getting released on other platforms first so they've just gotta kinda sit and watch other people playing and talking about them for months and then get them when everyones already done and moved onto another game. Does suck wish Xbox didn't rely so hard on gamepass, there's a few indie Devs that also said they don't wanna release stuff their anymore and indies my favourite category so I'm sad they won't be getting some of those.

Personally...I don't think the Xbox is a totally shit console like some PlayStation fans have you to believe. It is a good 360/game pass box. Its a good supplementary console like an additional console you add to PS5 and Switch. I could NEVER recommend however, picking an Xbox over a PS5...That's just stupid and you'll end up suffering like missing games like Helldiver's and Marvel vs Capcom 2 lol. Trying to ride out an entire Gen on team green only is a bad move. A lot of Xbox fans are clearly coping with their buyer's remorse and it shows

I don't get what it's age has to do with anything it's still got a cult following, I'm always seeing skits and stuff in my feed about people wanting more from marvel Vs capcom. After that showcase I've gone back to it. More comfortable controller, loads of games coming now, better engineered machine. In fact I'm getting an x over my s to take advantage of my new 55 inch oled 4k tv. Enjoying Halo infinite, Diablo 4, starfield, octopath 2, forza, flight sim, gears. Can't wait for fable, dragon age, gears eday, Avowed, Doom, cod ops 6 etc.
Where's the ps5 exclusives? I'm tired of Returnal lol. I'm sure they'll bounce back but I'm sure many like me can now enjoy xbox again knowing it has a good future after that showcase.

If you really think Xbox has more exclusives than the ps5 you’re crazy😂. There’s still at least like 5 games that are fully exclusive to ps5 and they’re all 20+ hours long. As long as you have an xbox one you can play the majority of games considered Xbox exclusive.
Honestly Xbox games don't sell and they hardly make any physical copies of games on Xbox because of that. Working retail, I barely get anyone asking for Xbox games and the Xbox sections are a joke now. PlayStation and Switch on the other hand have larger sections and sell more frequently. Like DCG said, Xbox conditions people to either get it on game pass or buy digital. So when I have a new kid coming in asking about a game system to get and they look at each section. Of course they're going to pick either the Switch or the PS5 because there's more games available to see. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Game pass is too good, to the point that it's actually hurting their system and they don't even realize it.
