I had the wonderful good fortune to see him “in the round” in Bangor, Maine, in the 80’s and it was such a beautiful experience and at different points you could have heard a pin drop with the respectful audience. His voice is perfection and his music fills my soul with pure happiness❤️

Absolutely true, crystal clear. I have been in love from afar with Karla for almost 40 years, ever since I met her at a little coffee house open mic in LA in the late 80s. Ever since I get speechless every time I hear her sing (then I start singing harmony, under my breath :)

Karla is just as awesome as she was 35 years before this performance. I have seen her twice live and have loved her timeless music and angelic voice for a long time. She recorded this song with James Taylor as the accompanying vocalist. Pure beauty.

She's not underrated. Everybody here seems to like her. I do. She had the unfortunate circumstance of being a female singer song writer at the same time as carly simon, joni mitchell and carole king. She appears highly rated by people who have heard her sing.

@@danblumelI was comparing Ms. Bonoff to other singer-songwriters. Linda was a terrific performer, but did not write songs. She covered Warren Zevon and J.D. Souther as well.

listening to this and thinking of friends and family gone on has always affected me...She played this for a small group of College Radio people in Atlanta in '76. Mac Mcanally was there also. The Water Is Wide (바다는 넓고)
The water is wide I cant cross over
And neither have the wings to fly
    난 날 수 있는 날개도 없는걸요
    Give me a boat that can carry two #65279;
    배를 주세요 두 사람이 탈 수 있는
And both shall row, my love and I
Oh, love is gentle and love is kind
The sweetest flower when first its new
But love grows old and waxes cold
and fades away like morning dew
There is a ship and she sails to sea
Shes loaded deep as deep can be
But not as deep as the love Im in
I know not how I sink or swim

I've known Karla since I was 17 (40 years). The water is clearly "wide" and it takes much effort to cross the waters to join with someone else. There are storms even if we are in the boat together and we all have to remain focussed on the "lighthouse" or "the North Star" to remain on course.

Is that Kenny Edwards playing guitar? He was so amazing. He passed away some years ago. Such a loss.

We only learned, after hearing this beautiful rendition, that Kenny Edwards passed away some years ago. We think the harmonies are so beautiful. Does anyone know where we might get the sheet music that contains this duet? Thanks Kenny, RIP.

"The Water Is Wide" (also called "O Waly, Waly") is a folk song of English origin, based on lyrics which partly date to the 1600s.

      Scottish actually.

@@southwoodside - You are wrong, as are many people, confused by the alternative title, 'O waly, waly'. It is from Somerset, England, the Scottish 'Waly waly' having a completely different melody and lyrics, c.f. 'The Scots Musical Museum'. I don't know if the young Robert Burns, who declared a collection of English songs his 'vade mecum' (carried everywhere whilst working on the farm) ever heard the original.

Yes, according to the election. And in spite of all the 'extra' help 'he' got. He's going down. It's just a matter of how soon.
