I had the wonderful good fortune to see him “in the round” in Bangor, Maine, in the 80’s and it was such a beautiful experience and at different points you could have heard a pin drop with the respectful audience. His voice is perfection and his music fills my soul with pure happiness❤️
Absolutely true, crystal clear. I have been in love from afar with Karla for almost 40 years, ever since I met her at a little coffee house open mic in LA in the late 80s. Ever since I get speechless every time I hear her sing (then I start singing harmony, under my breath :)
I first discovered her in Solana Beach...I pulled her album out of a trash can in 1982, took it back to my beach house, put it on my turntable, and knew....damn! that was it!
Karla is just as awesome as she was 35 years before this performance. I have seen her twice live and have loved her timeless music and angelic voice for a long time. She recorded this song with James Taylor as the accompanying vocalist. Pure beauty.
Lucky fan , happy for you , maybe she was in Canada , not often , I think she is outstanding, super talent for me , love her Music/ albums many years , thanks, did you hear There’s a Rose in the Garden , 1st of her songs I heard on the radio Canada , I loved it , and looked for her album, thanks 👍👍❤️❤️
the most beautiful version of this song I have ever heard,I would hope that when I pass someone would play this song and it has to b Karla s version every time I hear it it brings me close to tears
I've heard a lot of arrangements of this song, but this one is far and away my favorite, especially the album cut with John David Souther and James Taylor doing the harmonies.
Kenneth Michael Edwards (February 10, 1946 - August 18, 2010)[1][2] was an American singer, songwriter, bassist, guitarist, mandolinist, and session musician. He was a founding member of the Stone Poneys and Bryndle and a long-time collaborator with Linda Ronstadt and Karla Bonoff.[3]

Hang in there. Sometimes, when you are not looking, you find, or it finds you. If you do find love, trust and hang on for dear life for the road is rocky and the path full of stumbling blocks.
I too love this song that holds me but the one who highly holds me is Jesus Christ in Jesus Christ loves this girl and Mike when I get to go to heaven I know I'll be able to hear her sing it and all her other beautiful gifts that God gave her wicked God Jesus Christ songs of Glory and the honor and the praise
God's blessings and grace to you too. The scriptures, the teachings and guidance of Lord's servants ( good shepherds), hymns to glorify our Almighty Lord... All this transcendental activities can take us cross over to the Kingdom of God, our eternal original home. ❤🙏🛐
She's not underrated. Everybody here seems to like her. I do. She had the unfortunate circumstance of being a female singer song writer at the same time as carly simon, joni mitchell and carole king. She appears highly rated by people who have heard her sing.
You forget Linda Ronstadt also recorded quite a few of Karla's songs. I really much prefer Karla's musical choices and voice over Linda's. Recently saw her in Park City Utah in the spring of 2024. Ive been a fan since 1979.
@@danblumelI was comparing Ms. Bonoff to other singer-songwriters. Linda was a terrific performer, but did not write songs. She covered Warren Zevon and J.D. Souther as well.
I disagree U. S. probably you are right , Canada Music buyers , not many in late 70’s were Talking about her, me of course ,! It was more Linda Ronstadt , who didn’t write the song, peace , 👍👍🙏🙏❤️
listening to this and thinking of friends and family gone on has always affected me...She played this for a small group of College Radio people in Atlanta in '76. Mac Mcanally was there also. He jammed for us in the elevator for about an hour. Seeing him and her in a small group when we were all so young was magical. Mac was 19 and the rest of us were in our 20s....Karla was 25.
Some hurts you never get over, but must learn to live with. The pain of love will always return in dreams and there's no reason to believe it will ever go away.
Here it is, God knows how many years after Karla released this, and her's still one of the most beautiful single performances of the song. I'm floored every time I hear her sing it.

I've known Karla since I was 17 (40 years). The water is clearly "wide" and it takes much effort to cross the waters to join with someone else. There are storms even if we are in the boat together and we all have to remain focussed on the "lighthouse" or "the North Star" to remain on course.
There is a place some of us chance to visit though few remain to live there. Sometimes after many a long year the memory is new again in dream or echoes in a song.
The water is wide I can't cross over And neither have I wings to fly Build me a boat That can carry two And both shall row, my love and I There is a ship And she sails the sea She's loaded deep As deep can be But not so deep As the love I'm in I know not how I sink or swim Oh love is handsome And love is fine The sweetest flower When first it's new But love grows old And waxes cold And fades away like Summer dew Build me a boat That can carry two And both shall row, my love and I And both shall row, my love and I
We only learned, after hearing this beautiful rendition, that Kenny Edwards passed away some years ago. We think the harmonies are so beautiful. Does anyone know where we might get the sheet music that contains this duet? Thanks Kenny, RIP.

The sweetest flower when first its new
처음 꽃피울 때는 가장 향기로운 꽃이지만
But love grows old and waxes cold
사랑도 나이가 들고 차갑게 식어버리다가
and fades away like morning dew
아침 이슬처럼 사라져 버리네요
There is a ship and she sails to sea
바다로 흘러가는 배가 하나 있네요
Shes loaded deep as deep can be
