I've tried 3-4 different echos backpacks and while each of them have a few positives, I would easily recommend the Stihl br600 to anyone looking to purchase a new unit!! Cold or hot 1 pull to start & the power is AWESOME!! It's noticeably lighter than any comparable echos and its turtle shell design provides the engine protection from tree branches, dust etc...with the echo, its like you have a 3 hp Briggs strapped to your back. Stihl at least took the initiative to help you protect your investment!! For 5 years I used echo backpack blowers.....then I bought my first Stihl! Won't go back!!

I was looking for a lightweight blower for my deck. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxgioZQl3J5wPGAeDINzbieKbT5qomSEx3 There are some huge trees around my house and the leaves and pods drop all over my deck. Having to move furniture around to sweep has become too big a chore. This blower was the answer. It is light enough for this 70yr old lady and powerful enough to blow all the tree droppings off my rather large deck. Thank you B&D. Be aware the cord is not included. I use a 3 prong outdoor cord 25' cord for my 12' x 20' deck. The cord retainer works very well, but don't try to pass the plug through it. That is NOT how it works. You just have to loop the cord and it works great. One of my best purchases. Very happy.

Drain the tank and carby on both machines. Put in 10oz in both and see which one start first. Then time how long each machine runs on full throttle. That will show which one is better on fuel.

Echos Have always been a reliable and powerful brand no matter what tool it is. The best part is that they usually start the first or second pull. Several Stihl weedeaters and chainsaws that I have used have great power and performance but only after exhausting myself trying to get them to start. No more Stihl for that reason alone. When I go out to work that is what I want to do, not spend 15 minutes trying to start an engine. Besides the Echo have a 5 year warranty.

Echo PB-770 is my baby, I have 4 and 2 other babies named Red Max ezb-8001. But one con not mentioned about Echo is the bottom of air filter housing scraps the left top corner of the fuel tank when not on your back(notice when you set the blower down), it can make a hole in the tank over time. They should put a metal plate on the top of the tank to prolong it.

Nice video. Tomorrow I have to make one of the biggest decisions of my entire life. I will be purchasing my first backpack blower. My wife and I live on a acre and a quarter property that's surrounded by trees. The big issue is that the property was landscaped to be sort of a demo for the rest of this forest development. That meant lot's of boarders. Short stone walls. Ivy. Evergreen trees. Just lots of stuff that makes it tough to simply blow the leaves into anywhere. Which means I need a leaf blower that can move heavy mounds of leaves. Now I have a Echo PB200 handheld which has served me well for over 10 years. I have no intention of getting rid of it. I like a handheld for maneuverability around and underneath the deck and other tight areas that we have a lot of here. BUT, it's just not enough for moving the HUGE mounds of leaves that fall and have to be pushed to certain spots of the property to get into the woods or, at least, in open areas to be driven over by my mower. I have both a Stihl and Echo dealer within ten minutes of where I live. Both I've done business with before. Both I like. What should I choose? I live in the woods so noise doesn't matter. Throughout the fall all you hear around here is chippers and blowers. In the end I think I'm going with the Stihl. For two reasons. One, my first trimmer was an Echo and had carb issues after about six years. Sure, I could have replaced it for sixty bucks. But, I wanted a straight shaft and the Echo was curved. Why did I buy a curved shaft trimmer? Because I was cheap, young and stupid. So, out of anger, I bought a Stihl and have had it ever since....and I love it. I gave my old Echo to my dad who operates a used small engine business. He replaced the carb and sold it. Yes, it needed a new carb. Just replacing the gaskets and primer bulb did not work. Anywho, the other reason is the adjustable hose which my five foot wife will prefer. Anything to get her to help is much appreciated. Thanks again for the video.

We became insanely profitable buying *ANYTHING* other than Stihl (dealership parts only). Husqvarna, Echo, all brands allow cheaper online parts ordering (ebay, amazon, etc...) The Stihl equipment just nuked our profit margins with constant 4mix engine valve adjustments and dealer$hip part$ only. $tihl was just too expensive! Went with Husqvarna and Echo, and we seldom go to the repair shop.

Ive got an echo 8010H and I also have an Ego battery backpack blower. At a claimed 600 cfm and 150 mph the Ego has some pretty medicor power and it goes through a 7.5 amp lawnmower battery in roughly 20-25 minutes on high. I work in a few cities here in California that have banned Gas blowers and... I guess thats job security for me this fall when it takes me 4-6 hours to do a single big property leaf clean up on acerage with a battery blower. Ive got extra batteries and can charge while i work at most houses but its still a big hassle compared to just filling up the gas tank and being good to go for roughly an hour and a half with atleast twice the power on demand if you have a big boy like an 8010.

For consumers, only a 1 yr warranty. 2 years if i bought oil. Echo has a 5 year warranty. 4. Noise. Pretty loud. Either one will work for what they are designed to do.

I do large areas . I will agree that stihl finish there machines better but echo engines are far superior as the shop i got it from had meny brocken 4 mix blowers ( engine blow ups ) were as i will testify echo is hard to kill.

Stihl is turtle shell design, echo is box with places that can get held up in bushes & scrubs blowing beds out. I don't see how trivial things make echo better (example) no tool air filter access, bigger gas tank, more visible tank. As professional grounds maintenance owner those couple things don't make argument. If you grab blower day in day out, especially in leaf cleanups you can't beat Stihl in power to weight ratio.

Had problems with my Echo. The blower would not continue to run after about 15 minutes. Less than a year old. Returned to the original purchase place and they couldn’t figure out the problem. They would not replace the blower that was obviously defective but sent it back to Echo. After receiving the blower back from Echo it continued to have the same problem. Bogs under acceleration so now I have a Echo 770 anchor. No help from the company or dealer. Never buy another Echo product.
Purchased the Stihl 600 and haven’t looked back. I can understand getting a lemon but the lack of service and replacement by Echo of a less than year old blower stinks.

I have always used Echo products and had a few of their blowers. I own and run a full time residential lawn business is Florida. About two years ago I purchased a Magnum Stihl Blower. My local dealer sold me on it being the most powerful back pack blower. Worst decision ever! Its a $500 peice of garbage! The straps cut into my shoulders and the freekin blower might as well be 500lbs. I can never tell how much gas is in the fuel tank and I run out of fuel often. Stupid blower is hard to start even after being warmed up. Sometimes taking 10 plus pulls. Done a tune up and that didn't help. The back padding holds water or sweat which is so cool, not. Filling the gas tank sucks, has to be tilted. Gas cap is hard to get off and sprays pressurized fuel everywhere! I miss my echo blower everyday! I am going to have a party to celebrate the day I can rid myself of this Stihl garbage!

re: how loud the br 600 is...
someone dropped off a BR 600 and I'm looking at vids to get an understanding of how people feel about it.
When I started it up, I thought it was IMPRESSIVELY quiet.
'shows how much I know. - jack schitt. lol.
compared to a lawnmower, 3" trash pump, or wood chipper, this thing is quiet AF.

I've tested my Echo PB-770H against a buddy of mines Stihl BR-600 and my Echo blew the Stihl away like there was no competition at all. In my opinion I think Stihl is more of a homeowner brand because they look cheaply made and actually have homeowner models, where as Echo has all professional no matter what you buy, but like I said this is my opinion.

    • @timgring4121
      @timgring4121 8 років тому +2

+Duane Sachon No, you have to find a dealer but some people don't have the time to do that and that's how Echo is smart they sell in stores too and it's still professional. There is no such thing as box models. They're all the same if you get it at Home Depot or a dealer
