For sure one of the best TFT content creators atm. Clear, concise, well spoken, and down to earth, seemingly. Much thanks! If only I listened to the advice you give. This set is killing me since econ is my weakness and this set is econo-centric. Can't flex without checks.
Hey Matt! It does seem eco-centric but I wanted to mention something. I've been having a lot of success with Punk/ rapid-fire comps. It's kind of the anti-econ build because it increases the tempo of the lobby. If you get one of the ticket augments like prismatic ticket, you should try it! Gamblers blade on your jinx too and New Recruit go well for making up for the gold and lack of leveling. Punk's HP scaled with each reroll too so the two punk tanks can be your ONLY tanks. (Assuming they're 3 star with the right items.) I like to get the armor shred tank item on at least one of them. I've had a couple games with 5 or 6 three star units with only the 2 punks on the front line and 6 in the back. Normally lvl 8 is your max cap. For the back line you want, all 6 rapid-fire units or 4 rapid-fire, your twitch and a Sona with a rageblade (attack speed selected.) You'll shred through enemy comps before they can scale if it all goes your way. You do need to work on the econ slowly between roles though and don't stay at zero. Hope you try it and like it! GL! (Yorik is also really good late game if you didn't get 3 defensive items on each tank as he synergizes with both the other tanks with his guardian and mosher traits)
TY for explaining why Bulk is so good this set. Ive been playing since set 4 but that breakdown of how they all scale with HP really put it into perspective for me, and Im sure many others. Great Video per usual!
You're a great educator. Honestly, I won't deny Setsuko's ability to play TFT, but I tuned in to his stream today and couldn't even stand watching 1 game. Being good at the game doesn't equal being a good content creator. You are awesome in making this knowledge available to everyone.
As Frodan mentioned at the end positioning is important and you often than you think tunnel vision at few units than your whole board for example at 29:00 that positioning of tentacles after scouting it was on point ! he ended up facing the Akali player he was aiming to counter a good demonstration of Setsuko overall awareness and positioning skills he definitely have a solid experience on that, but for sure a room for improvement, I really like this set on how you can express your skills and improve even further, great insightful vid keep up the good work^^
Dude even in platium ( which actually rank gold correctly way ) they already know how to position the japanese h3nt4i tentacles to counter those "fares target" thing such as Lux akalicu or crowdiver kind of . hahaha or u below this rank ?
I kinda needed this breakdown tbh, would love to see you analyze more fast 9 games. I think in set 10 analyzing more and more fast 9 games will not be repetitive or boring, because the sheer flexibility involved is going to mean that every game's journey looks different even when the final capped board looks the same.
Frodans commentary was very valuable and i learned alot but this game was a very bad representation of what frodan wanted to show which was how to fast nine consistently and hit 2 star 5 costs consistently. setsuko was very lucky to hit lucian headliner at 25:54 (10%)and also very lucky to hit jhin 2 and illaoi 2 at 28:11 (10%). The odds of hitting those exact 5 costs was probably less likely than hitting the 3star poppy or ezreal earlier on which itself was highly unlikely. BUT that is the reason why this game was legendary and setsuko did make decisive choices to get him to that spot.
Fast 9 is skilled but the odds on getting 5* headliner on 9 is low and that game was a high roll finding Jazz +1 on Lucian. At the end he managed to find the maximum level 9 4 jazz comp which is undoubted the strongest comp of the set. Key notes is preserving hp as much as possible and this playstyle is very augment and portal dependent. You cannot force fast 9 every lobby if augments are not favorable or if it's something like triple prismatic or early aggro lobbies caused by portals.
These explanations are so damn good, it's ridiculous. I've been playing TFT almost constantly since Set1 and I have hit some pretty High Elo in most Sets (hitting Master most sets, usually Top100 in Hyperroll as well), but some strategies between Master and Challenger are still worlds apart, and then between "bottom Challenger" and Top 10 players is a huge gap again. I guess maybe players in like Silver/Gold Elo are still missing some basics to directly jump to this strategy, but for players who are already "pretty good" at the game, this was a great explanation to improve with this strategy. I usually play around a decent starting board and then pivot to 4cost HL and then if i get a good board and have enough HP to go for a relatively early 9, I try to get a 5cost HL that fits my comp (swaping Ez for Jhin, swapping poppy for yorik, etc.). But just starting out with the preparation to go to 9 from the very first turn usually seems too unreliable. If you are low, swap your board, then run into an executioner or a decent Jazz board you're just out of the game. I like to play for LP and try reliable comps that give me top4 a lot more than the risky comps to go for the win. But in this video he just had so many outs, almost any 5 cost HL could have given him the win at the end. Hitting some great augments for early levels + trait-indipendent bonuses was part lucky, but also great decision-making. I rarely see an Illaoi or Yorik survive that long with just 1 item. I had Illaoi HL with 3 tanks items die a lot faster, because I had damage augements.
This was an amazing video. Thank you for the in-depth breakdown of Setsuko's decisions and the little tips on how to get a better board and econ! Subbed
What a good analysis from Frodan. Thankyou so much man, it will killing me if playing like Setsuko😅 Sometimes i still got problem bout' econ thing😂. But, this is interesting. Great job ^^
Really good guide for mid-rank players but would be really helpful to have another guide with how the top players manage their econ so well to consistently have the money to push 9 even without econ augments
tbh with how many punks showing up in his shop, if it were me i would've hard forced punk reroll, interesting to see how Setsuko plays it out and def very good job on Frodan to explain every little details.
Thanks for explaining it all and the breakdowns very thoughtful and educational unfortunately too much work for me so I'll be forcing jazz reroll every game :)
one key tech you didnt cover is why he choose not to tech in thresh guardian over apehl rapid? since he had as items on lucian is a stronger frontline not worth?
Roll 8 to get 4 gold 2 star to def Risk : low health due to save econ then players seem lucky at some round Go 9 to get Lucian 5 gold 2 star and Jhin 5 gold 2 star, tank 5 gold 2 star Tips : get every augment to maximize you econ to fast level Game sensing on positioning Item : shojin to Jhin End game
Love these, your videos are fantastic. I love playing legendary boards which is what I usually go for so I would really love to watch Setsuko if he wasn't crying the whole game.
From what I've heard, these are good (from good to bad): Ziggs(Either), Lucian(Either), Jhin(Big Shot), Illaoi(Bruiser), Yorick(Guardian), Sona(Spellweaver) He has items for most champs: AP - JG, shojin, red buff; AD - LW, rageblade, red buff (yorick is ad, but idk his bis) He did slam tank items, but it's on illaoi, which he would sell and slam items on headliner Ziggs dazzler - prob takes bard out or adds 4th dazzler; hyperpop doesnt require any changes If lucian isn't jazz, he takes out aphelios Jhin - he puts in ezreal for 4 bigshot and tries to prolong fights for jhin Illaoi - prob too much tankiness, but she does output damage on her own too Yorick can rack up damage too, if somebody takes aggro off him (but I do need to mention healing is big on him, so ig he would be bad) Sona would be pretty iffy, but have seen her ramp up teams to extreme too, especially with shojin rageblade Right now kayn, qiyana and a few other trait headliners (pentakill/mosher yorick) are unlucky, but most are good in my opinion :)
@@FrodanTVLucian himself is weak. The only reason why this team comp worked was because of 4 jazz and fitting in 6? traits with great front liners. Going 5 cost with jazz in with non unique traits gives them so much help.
I don't get how he's able to live into stage 5 when I just hit illaoi 2, lucian 2 headliner, ziggs 2, sona 2, and 4 jazz. In a gold augment lobby, and I died on 4-6 and couldn't win at all, I had bis items on 3 units, and ran almost the exact same comp as him. Makes no sense to me
No way that this is a good example of analyzing Setsuko. His level 9 hits were unbelievably lucky. I've hit less legendary 2stars while rolling double or triple the gold.
Sure, he played for his outs, but was that not a literally just hit moment, contrary to what was said in the intro? :D He hit the chosen 5-cost Lucian in 7-8 rolls which is already a high roll given the 10% chance for legendary chosen. Also, if it was chosen Illaoi, Quiyana or Yorick was that not just eif given he had literally no backline other that shojin Jhin 1?
You cannot go 9 every game unless you get a good econ augment or you're 15 streaking or something and have 100 hp at stage 4+. You have to recognise whether you can go 9 or not with enough health and econ to stabilize, most of the time if you're mix streaking early or don't have a good econ augment u have to settle for rolling at 8 for 4 cost comp or rerolling if u get alot of copies
If you don't have an econ augment, focus on a strong item tempo augment (example: Sleight of Hand on a Headliner) or combat augment (Vampirism) that gives you lots of board strength to get economy via winstreak momentum. Look for things like Heartsteel early-mid game as well (but keep in mind you're likelier to lose so don't overly force winstreak and grief econ). Maximize preserving hp by positioning to kill units (stacking) instead of default spread positioning. Tons of small things like that can help you get to 9.
@@aespa4thgenleaders69 4 cost at the moment are really bad. except for maybe akali and karthus most ppl play 4 cost headliners as temporary item holders to get to 9 to play 5 costs. For reroll, annie, katarina, miss fortune, samira+urgot are all pretty good.
38% is almost twice as much as 20%, so he is winning 100% (90 something) more games, not 50. (or you can say that the second place wins 50% less times than the first place)
u need punk chosen jinx and like 6 jinxes at 2-1 to make the comp playable, and even if u highroll u often end up losing to legendary boards due to the low cap nature of the comp
ive personally never enjoyed watching setsuko play tft. it seems that every time i tune into his stream, he is trying to hit some unit to not bot 4. somehow he does and then goes 1st or 2nd. For sure hes insanely good at early/mid game. But to me hes just the best 1st or 8th player out there. Something that I just cannot find myself doing.
is it worth it for him to separate all the items? i know he had cyber augments but id be a bit stressed about not having atleast 2 tank items on my main tank all throughout the game, would adaptive been better on illaoi instead of ziggs two? Edit: went back and watched how much dmg ziggs does, i kind of see how its worth it to itemize him so now i have another question, since he has the gem on mf isnt it better to make sure his frontline can survive untill it procs?
Ziggs is the best Unit in the game and a mana item is too strong on him. 100% worth. The gem had almost no value in the last fights as he always had 0 gold. About the cyber value vs giga tank is a difficult call cause yes a giga tank will tank a lot more but if all the frontline dies fast he get focused more and he had great frontline units. In this specific case he had double cyber augment so i feel like it was actually worth a lot, maybe with only 1 it is not, also he had to spread out items while hitting the units in different stages so it's a gameplay thing. Maybe if he could redo all his frontline he would make a different choice on what put on who
Nahh I would've accepted my faith and roll with that 40 gold 😂 but damn i would try that. Just scout and position your units and ofcourse pray that u win that round
funniest thing is 1 bad matchmaking at 4-6 and its an eight thats an extremly risky play. He choses to say fk 8th/6th (rly bad for climbing in general) but sometimes mort is with u and to awnser what to roll for at 4-6 basically anything better lucky yorick/thresh/jhin/mf/ez.
gotta say, wish you wouldnt have chosen to review a game with the busted cluttered mind augment, anyone who get this aug has a free lvl 9 rush... i would rather see him rush 9 with no econ/leveling augments.
gonna be honest, as someone that play fast 9 a lot, cluttered mind allows for you to easily top 4 while doing so i didn’t really learn that much from this vid
The issue with lots of econ-less fast 9 setups is that they highroll like crazy with insane stuff like early 3 cost 2* or 2* superfans across the board early. Cluttered Mind is one of several econ augments people can take for "easy" Fast 9. And even though cluttered mind seems easy on the surface, there's lots of min/maxing that I thought was interesting. I'll eventually circle back to Fast 9 in another VOD since it seems like it'll be a prevalent thing in the meta. When that happens I'll do what I can to see if I can find a no-econ "mid-roll" fast 9 but its unlikely
@@FrodanTV Everything you say is of course correct, I sincerely doubt that the majority of players would be confident enough with their knowledge of the game to reforge on 2-1 and work around crownguard. I personally see Cluttered Mind as so much support for the first 9 playstyle as it is just as you say "3 extra gold" every turn with very little downside. This is as opposed to Clear Mind when you leave it to RNG on if you can make your board stronger or not, or Rich get Richer, which is at max two additional golds a turn, Scapegoat can't even compete in reference to the fast 9 playstyle and Escort Quest will slowly lose its value around late stage 3, early stage 4. I don't even remember the point that I was trying to make lmao, I guess what I'm trying to say is Cluttered Mind offers you the easiest path to fast 9 overall, as I really like fast 9, I was hoping to see other ways that I can get to the endgame board as Cluttered Mind will always lead me there already anyway. Thank you for your hard work, no need to put in the extra effort for a random guy like me but I appreciate the thought!
Meh. Yeah the "fast nine" strat sure is strong currently, but let's be honest: in his current spot, the only way he managed to pull that first place off is by getting lucky and hitting jazz. Any other 5 cost legendray headliner would not have made his board strong enough to avoid going 8. Jazz is just too strong currently and is the only reason he managed that game. He went for a gamble that would get you 8th like 9 times out of ten.
Many top players believe Lucian is quite weak due to his bugged damage (reduced) so Setsuko is still making it work and stayed on it. I believe lots of good players would have sold it and looked for a better option instead of playing around it
@@FrodanTV: I think it is more the Jazz trait itself that is boosting the team by that much, especially with 9 units out. Lucian damage is a little low but it is made up for with how strong Jazz is.

Yes it was lucky lol. Bro was going 8th without it
Believe it or not, lots of strong players think Lucian is quite weak but Setsuko is one of the few who believes in him as a primary
From what I've heard, these are good (from good to bad):
Ziggs(Either), Lucian(Either), Jhin(Big Shot), Illaoi(Bruiser), Yorick(Guardian), Sona(Spellweaver)
He has items for most champs: AP - JG, shojin, red buff; AD - LW, rageblade, red buff (yorick is ad, but idk his bis)
He did slam tank items, but it's on illaoi, which he would sell and slam items on headliner
Ziggs dazzler - prob takes bard out or adds 4th dazzler; hyperpop doesnt require any changes
If lucian isn't jazz, he takes out aphelios
Jhin - he puts in ezreal for 4 bigshot and tries to prolong fights for jhin
Illaoi - prob too much tankiness, but she does output damage on her own too
Yorick can rack up damage too, if somebody takes aggro off him (but I do need to mention healing is big on him, so ig he would be bad)
Sona would be pretty iffy, but have seen her ramp up teams to extreme too, especially with shojin rageblade
Right now kayn, qiyana and a few other trait headliners (pentakill/mosher yorick) are unlucky, but most are good in my opinion :)

Maybe if he could redo all his frontline he would make a different choice on what put on who
caitlyn best for killing units, seconds later, caitlyn cant kill 1 unit
Because it's the easier comp to hit right now, it's more jazz than anything else.
yeah but it's hard to get there without losing too much hp if you're not that skilled
Why are you not pointing out his luck when getting lucian headiner jazz which is the main reason he won?
Wish you would of shown a game where he didn't get free xp from start
All I learned from this game is Get Cluttered Mind
I've got ADHD I already have that irl
you havent tried the pre level for a 2 cost yet sheesh
And this is why Ramblinnn gets 30% 2nd places lol
SETTSUKO
Setsuko is 100x faster than I am on my mobile phone 😂 but at my rank, I'm still struggling to fast 9
Not completely sure on how good this game is as an example. Setsuko played well but was basically gifted an illaoi, jhin, Kayn on 8 without rolling.
I can play AD Flex too.... But really this video is not about skill, but insane luck. If he didn't hit that Lucian with the last reroll, it was over.
Nahh I would've accepted my faith and roll with that 40 gold 😂 but damn i would try that. Just scout and position your units and ofcourse pray that u win that round
funniest thing is 1 bad matchmaking at 4-6 and its an eight thats an extremly risky play. He choses to say fk 8th/6th (rly bad for climbing in general) but sometimes mort is with u
and to awnser what to roll for at 4-6 basically anything better lucky yorick/thresh/jhin/mf/ez.
He also would have came 8th if he didn’t hit a legendary headliner with his literal last roll. It’s not a great example of a dependable strategy
33 min?
I lost to karthus 2 super fan frontline with akali 1 star with an exact same comp all 5 cost 2 stared xdd
Would’ve been better if it wasn’t a cluttered mind start
gotta say, wish you wouldnt have chosen to review a game with the busted cluttered mind augment, anyone who get this aug has a free lvl 9 rush... i would rather see him rush 9 with no econ/leveling augments.
This explains how he's good at managing his bench rather than fast 9 lol
SETSY WETSYS A FUCKING BEAST!
who miss think fast augment :D
gonna be honest, as someone that play fast 9 a lot, cluttered mind allows for you to easily top 4 while doing so i didn’t really learn that much from this vid
You don't get cluttered mind every single game, that's the difference
yea, thats the issue lol, cluttered mind makes this strategy way easier, wouldve been a better showcase of a game without cluttered@@nidium1951
With this playstyle and a bench like that you won‘t even need the augment to have a cluttered mind
Thank you for your hard work, no need to put in the extra effort for a random guy like me but I appreciate the thought!
i wouldnt really say he high rolled that was just expert greedy play
I don't think anybody would say he high rolled this game what
He went for a gamble that would get you 8th like 9 times out of ten.
maybe we should start crying as much as him to be good
Eh. Some smart stuff but really just lucked into Jazz Lucian. Not the best video I think. If he was not playing Jazz then it might be more unique
Although this game is so educative, but if he didn't get Lucian its 90% a top 8 XD
Are you guys mad at me? Be honest. Are you guys mad?
"he wins 50% more games than the second best" two plus two is four minus one that's three quick maths lmao
This is BS, straight luck that he didn’t go 8.
Useless vids bro, don't take a clutter mind to illustrate how to fast nine ... Who cares who he is, clutter make the fast nine by itself
First😎
Why does frodan talk like the guy from the skibidi toilet videos, also why is frodan so bad at tft
