Same, struggling to climb because top 3 all seem to run the same Bard comp and if I contest it's just a gamble of who'll get Bard 3* first. Anyone knows how to deal with trickshot Bard erasing my backline?

Maybe I got greedy, but it feels so lame that Bard can do this with 2 mythics and 1 other trickshot on his board. I know I'm just being a sore loser at this point, but c'mon, how is this fun?
Thank you for this guide Frodan. I managed to hit diamond just now this early into the set. It took me 10 games of just to figure out how to consistently hit 9. Generally 1 econ agument and 2 combat is all that's needed. In heavy econ portals you can go full combat. Flexing between the AD & AP variant is key.
Suggestion: I think the most difficult part of this strategy is transitioning from strong early game to decent midgame positions. Could you go into a little bit more detail on this? Maybe do a video where you have some decent level 5 and level 6 boards and you need to roll down to gain some power to survive 7 and 8? Generally I am pretty good at playing strongest board in early game, but once we hit late stage 3/early stage 4, my boards fall off and I struggle with identifying decent transitional comps to tide me over until I get enough gold to hit 9. I tend to start lose streaking and feel obligated to overroll to stabilize - especially during late stage 3/early stage 4 because those stages come with huge enemy power spikes and you start losing a lot of hp. Although I can keep a decent comp rolling up through level 6, once I hit 7 and 8, I start losing heavily and I believe its because I don't have enough knowledge to transition out of a decent early board into a strong enough midgame board. I think that is the trickiest part of playing this strategy.
please tell me about gamba tree, moon edge, red blade and bardine gun. never use this kind of method to remember the comps, but this dj whalrus things stuck really well in my brain

Optimization of Malphite encounter + Accomplice + tech-ing in units for traits (and how the player could have optimized it further) was pretty interesting, but I agree early Hwei and the Malphite encounter itself are high roll lol, and I didn’t even know that Candy augment existed that seems super op
I think there’s a lot to unpack especially with how he plays a traditional reroll augment TMC. Also there’s no such thing as low roll fast 9. You HAVE to capitalize on highrolls to fast 9. If you could get away with midrolls, then fast 9 is straight up OP and wildly broken to the point everyone should do it. Yes there are high roll moments but part of it is learning how to convert it. Many people would fumble and be inconsistent with a similar hand. You’re high rolling more than you think in your games too!

However, by what you just typed (and you do brush over this in the vid, hwei is broken) isnt it just a huge balance issue that someone can climb at the highest level, playing fast 9 every game? A comp that traditionally you usually need a certain, highroll-ish spot to play. Maybe you are just constrained by the fact that youtube viewers seem to want to see people place first, or the volatile nature of this comp, but it feels like a bit of a disservice for learning series to feature a video where the guy mostly coasts into a first place finish. I havent watched your other academy videos so im not sure if you are always posting firsts in this format, but it might be worth considering games that dont go so perfectly. Fun video either way!

just tried this comp. Played using so-so augments and without econ ones, midgame was pretty meh bcs of lowroll and pretty much bleed out. Still, i managed to hit the 5 costs and capped out pretty high. Good comp if u want to push rank and pretty much will work if u can hit 9 by stage 5
Hit 3 star galio (some support item, dragon claw, warmogs) with heavy hitters and bruiser augment. Max 8 bruiser he casted ability once and insta popped entire mythic team.
Hi Frodan, thanks for the guide. Any chance you can showcase another game with this comp? I think Too Much Candy is too unique as an augment as it changes the rolling timing and habit completely and makes this game not so much of a good exmaple for me to try to replicate

For competitive people and especially content creator its a good thing to just spam comp you think the best because LP gain is a must for them but if you just casual player it will burnt your enjoyment , i did it in set 6.5 and that was the highest elo i get but that doesnt feel good at all
I am too dumb to not just learn one or 2 comps and try and force it every time. Works okay until you start playing real competition. IDK if I will ever have enough brain wrinkles to play in a fluid manner.
I just did this (emerald elo) and wow this is a mad comp strat. Got level up and cruised to first with a 14 winstreak and every 5 cost two starred with 3 star hwei Azir Sett and Rakan all 2 starred on the bench too. Would have 3 starred all 4 if I didn’t do 25 damage in the last turn and end the game. Insane comp great video 🙌🏻

This is for more advanced players IMO. No instruction on any good early mid game comps. You have to have a vast knowledge on putting together strong early comp on the fly.
This wasn't even streamer-luck, that was straight up game-dev luck. The augments are insane, the portal is stupid OP for this comp, the encounters, especially Malphite with Support-gloves are a joke, and the rolls are beyond ridiculous. Annie on lvl5, into Hwei lvl 7 is indescribable. I can't even count how many games I couldn't get ANY 5-cost when rolling 50 gold on lvl 8, and he gets the exact right 5-cost on 7. Then Orrn2, Liss2 and Udyr2 in the same turn. I had so many games, where I couldn't even get an uncontested 4-cost to 2*. If I had that kinda luck in my games, I'd be master already as well. He made so many mistakes in this game and still won, because that was just Riot wanting him to win.

I'm saying that using this game as an example of how this comp works is ridiculous, because he got extremely lucky at basically every aspect of the game that includes luck. Of course you have to have the right strategy, and know how to use the luck that you get, but if you want to learn a comp, looking at an ideal scenario isn't helpful. If I one-tricked a Kayle board to Masters, I wouldn't use an example where I got Galio early on 5 and Irelia early at 7 to say "see, it works!"
ive tried to play this, had a winstreak in stage 2 and 3, lost everything from there on and died before even getting 9 lol, my first 3 guys had all above 80 hp and were highrolling as fck i think i am just not flexible enough to play this

I tried it earlier today and was top 1 against 3 star Bard. I almost got to Hwei 3, I had 6 copies and he kept copying himself. Also I had Irelia 2, Wukong 2, Rakan 2 and Udyr 2 😂😂😂 I think I'm going spam it.

Fast 9 is incredibly easy to get a bottom finish if you misplay it or the conditions aren’t right. Don’t give up!
