Overall a good video! I would suggest using Ford Motorcraft parts only the 1st time or it can get expensive quickly by doing the same job over and over much sooner. You also wanna clean the surfaces really well at the engine and at the cooler locations before putting new o-rings on adding some oil on the new o-rings is key putting something together dry is a bad idea and will result in it failing. Remember Clean, Lube, Assemble correctly using the proper parts will result in years of reliability.

I actually just went and bought a 1200 dollar show blower cause we are supposed to get over a foot of snow. I probably could have spent the time working on truck instead. But was unsure of getting it done. The front bolts look very hard to get to. Can I use a permatex to hold front gasket on while putting back on. ? Thanks you really made it look easy
Good !! Question for you = why are you working this thing on the floor. ???? Why not on a table or small lift table I imagine with all the tool you have , space. etc , you can manage ,working standing up with a pan for oil Be good to you and save your back and knees
Will a clogged oil cooler cause excessive pressure in coolant, a shop told me blown head gaskets but my radiator cracked from the cold replaced with a bit smaller one and all I have is pressure when truck is running after filling back up with water

One machine shop wants an insane hourly rate to “try” and work on it, another told me they don’t do dry sleeve blocks but if I bought a flathead V8 rebuild kit they could try and direct fit pistons with no liners and see if it worked. An expensive gamble either way, exploding other options now.

The oil to coolant heat exchanger does double duty in winter- where the block heater heats the cooland AND the oil for easier starting-- this engine uses engine oil under high pressure to push the fuel in the injector-- and really cold oil doesn't flow right...
@@michaelowen1750 Understand as I use to wish for warm engine oil while living in Idaho when it was -10-15degrees. On a big block the oil stiffens and doesn't like turning over.
Do I need to flush the cooling system after rebuilding the oil cooler or is draining the coolant tank good enough? I currently have oil in my coolant. Picking up the Oil cooler rebuild kit today. Thanks in advance for your reply.
Someone save me. I “bought” 7.3 haven’t paid for it yet but it hasn’t ran in about 5 years, got her started yesterday and checked the oil today and found coolant in the dip stick. The truck has 99000 miles on her I couldn’t imagine it being a head gasket
Its less maintenance if its 09 or newer otherwise when one of the 5.4 sparkplugs launches out of the head along with the threads. And no heli coils are not a permanent repair

Was quoted $1700 for my 2002. Was told it’s a 150 in parts the rest is labor and oil/antifreeze. Thanks for the video I won’t be payin 1700 now

That looks so much easier then it was to replace the cooler lines on my 4wd 2000 GM 6.0. It was a 4-6 hour job and apparently I was quick.

If you have oil in the coolant I would definitely flush it.
