My favorite is the mini Star Destroyer called Delta 7. It's another flying triangle.
lol Jedi star destroyer
I breached into the Pentagon and stole top secret documents containing development of a new stealth craft. It turns out it's shape is indeed, a triangle.
If only you knew the POWER of the Dark Triangle! Never underestimate the For---Flying Dorito 🔺
Lol only ogs know what the delta7 is
Yeah, that one is an extremely mini- SD! LOL I thought I needed to look it up and then face-palmed when I saw it.
The Emperor's real superpower was creative bookkeeping.
For real. In early novels, the super star destroyer was said to only be 8km long. When the lore changed to make it 19km, I am pretty sure the retcon was that 8km was the fudged number palps gave the senate when he was getting funding to build them
@@grandmoffjake6871 "8, 19, 25 - does it really matter so long as it reflects the majesty and authority of this august Senate? What matters is demonstrating that our people have the will to make this galaxy great, peaceful, and prosperous (under my control."
"Sorry, didn't catch that last bit"
"Never mind; just clearing my throat. All in favour of immediate deployment say Aye"
The thing I always loved about the Venators is how, although you can clearly see their resemblance to the Imperial Star Destroyer, it’s also completely different and has its own unique silhouette and attributes. I wish that the First Order had done the same. All of their tech is just copy-pasted from the empire.
I'm not the biggest First Order fan in the world, but I did actually like their iteration of the Star Destroyer design. That "double decker" look I thought was pretty neat.
@@kodyshaw6991 "Make it bigger"
"It'll turn even slower if we make it longer, and they're already killing us on manoeuvrability."
"Make it thicc, then"
It's very lazy on Disney's part, however I also think it's somewhat justifiable from a lore perspective. The First Order were die hard imperialists simps who had fairly little to work with in regards of tech research and development. So for their star destroyers to be ISD's with some minor tweaks does make some sense
@@Cockus_Blockius It makes sense, yes. But story wise (30 years after RotJ) they really could have went full crazy and use current First Order design as iterations set a few years after RotJ.
@@kodyshaw6991 I feel like the problem is they just had regular old tie fighters for the first order. Maybe they could’ve made is like the tie defender to be unique
All I would want if I was living in the Star Wars universe between the end of the Clone War and the Rise of the Empire would be the contract for all of that gray hull paint. Whoever or whatever company who made that, made a fortune.
Disney: we aren't going to put much effort into designing new ships
Also disney: Fans took designing new ships into their own hands?! Wtf let's sue them and or steal their designs!
Also disney to this comment: LIES AND SLANDER, PREPARE FOR LAWSUIT
(For legal reasons this is a joke)
Fans: we designed these ships
Disney: unfortunately for you history will not see it that way
Well that was the artists that stole the fan designs
yes but it was disney and lucasfilm that allowed it
@@superduper1262 I doubt they had any direct involvement in the actions of comic illustrators
I love how this guy manages to sneak Battle of the Dreadnoughts into every video featuring capital ships
Not complaining tho, the battle is quite amazing
Eck: “here’s some republic star destroyers you may not have known about!”
Me, who has played way too much Fall of the Republic: “I am 4 parallel universes ahead of you”
In all seriousness, great video, thanks!
I was thinking the Valiant class and Legacy class Star Destroyers were much needed attention, but I guess they were fan fiction and not actual ships in lore
Been watching this channel for 5 years now and the end credit music always makes me nostalgic. Thank you Ecks for continuing to make content!
Sometimes I come here more for the dog than anything else.
I didn't realize they had other destroyers beyond Venators and Acclamators. Interesting.
Yea even in legends comic showed the victory class
@@michaelandreipalon359 I have in one panel it was right before revenge of the sith came comic tie in
@@michaelandreipalon359 maybe cause it was just a background and you have to make out the Silhouette

Well known that Walex Blissex helped make the Victory in Legends for the Clone Wars. I'm not up on New canon but I'm sure they have their own version.
This is my classification:
Venator-class Strike Cruiser
(A cruiser with limited fire power and no ground troops due to a large hangar capacity)
Victory-class Assault Cruiser
(Specialised weapons for planetery bombardment and as a troop transport for ground assault)
Imperial-class Star Cruiser
(A general purpose cruiser able to move fast from system to system with ground troops to hold and secure those systems, The "Star" nomenclature denotes it also carries 1-2 squadrons.)
Imperator-class Star Destroyer
(Torpedoes, missiles, heavy turbolasers all for attacking and destroying other ships)
This was a great video!! Thank you for all your work in Researching, Developing, Producing, Recording, and Posting it and ALL your GREAT Content!!! I always look forward to seeing your Vids in my que!! Please keep up the good work, and THANK YOU!!!!

Non-Venator Republic capital ship appreciation!
I wish the Clone Wars had a few episodes covering the other ships in the Republic’s fleet. Imagine a arc covering the Mandator II’s first big fleet action and the Jedi’s reaction to it! Or the first deployment of the Victory Class against the CIS! Shame we’ll never see them.
I like these ideas. Fan films are possible. Maybe contact some of the folks making them.
Absolute spectacular ship. Love it
Eagle-eyed fans: "That's just a Star Destroyer model flipped upside down!"
Lucast Art: "No...that's a new type of star destroyer. It's the rare, heavily-armed and armored Tector!"
Great video Eck! Keep it up 👍
There's also the Sector-Class Star Destoryer which was a Heavy Carrier basically the Venetor's older brother.
It’s a shame the rebellion never got the chance to have a few venators in their fleet.
They will be more burden for them than usefull ships
@@tomaskops7119 I still don''t understand this logic. Venators would make amazing mobile bases for starfighters. Why does everyone keep saying a Venator would be a problem for the Rebellion STARFIGHTER Corps? Look what happens whenever they set up a solid base on the ground, they already have a mobile fleet. Venators just improve that fleet.
@@Kit_the_Kitsune 1. Its crew is about 7000 2. Rebel starighter have hyperdrive, so not usefull for rebel tactic 3. Imagine fuel consumption and cost of refueling or how it will be conspicuous during refueling somewhere
@@tomaskops7119 Its crew of 7000 can easily be filled by droids? And Rebel starfighters still need a base. Fuel cost wouldn't be an issue, considering who was bankrolling the rebellion. Also add in that Venators that weren't decommissioned got sold to PDFs anyway so not really that conspicuous
Imagine how useful it would be to be able to move your base from one spot in the middle of no where to another spot in empty space and know your fighters could get there

To be honest I love just watching these while eating something it's just good entertainment
The smile on my face when watching Clone Wars and near the end of the series the Victory Class shows up in Republic colors.
It doesn't. That literally never happened, what are you talking about?
I like to think the Venator I was the variant with the huge hangar door that takes up the whole red stripe. The Venator II was the variant with the smaller hangar door and perhaps more weapons instead of the huge door.
That's right
While it’s a little disappointing that the Republic had so little ship diversity, it makes sense given the lore.
the way I see it, the republic probably had a little more diversity than we know- after all, considering Kuat's dreadnoughts and battlecruisers, you have to assume that Corellian Engineering Corporation would have a few large ships of their own design, if only so that the Corellian Sector defence fleet wasn't seen to be buying from Kuat instead of supporting local industry. Granted this is entirely speculation on my part, but I think we perhaps see a few too many Kuat designs and not enough from their competitors, both from canon and from renders made by the fanbase
@@MercenaryPen Well the Republic fleet also had to work on contract with whoever could pump out the largest number of ships. If KDY and Rendili were fighting over Venator contracts then it made sense there were more of those ships and the facilities would be geared towards Venator production when the other models where designed so they would come out at a slower rate. Again speculation but it also makes sense with use of local forces.
I always assume there's almost an entire galaxy full of stuff we haven't seen "off screen". A galaxy is extremely enormous. This is why I outright reject any minimalism applied to SD fleets and armies, etc. Because this is fiction, and it should make more sense than not make sense, then there "were" many many more ships, droids, aliens, et cetera, as well as types of all of these things off screen IMO.
@@seawind930 even so, there must have been something available in the Corellian sector to stop Palpatine and Dooku from deciding to have the separatist fleet invade Corellia just to drag them into the clone wars- and for me, given the number of locations to be protected in the Corellian system alone (let alone the wider sector) a sizeable Battlecruiser fleet strikes the right balance between size and the ability to be in enough places at once
@@MercenaryPen Oh I'm not saying they didn't have local fleets otherwise the Republic would have been overwhelmed right out of the gate. I'm just giving a in universe reason the Venator is overrepresented that makes the most sense.
I love all your videos bro keep up the hard work, best videos are when u show battles in space in a game or something and you show the battles play out. Seeing the simulation of the battles
Oh I've heard this all before but it's still a new video and there's new background visuals. 👍😁👍 Keep up the good work
I've seen videos on these vessels before. Great ships. You did a great video about them. I wish they appeared in The Clone Wars series.
My favorite repub SD is probably the Chancellor class
I’ve honestly taken a break from Star Wars as nothing major was really coming out and the new shows weren’t great (I did enjoy kenobi though). But I’ve started to get back into as nothing is happening with halo at the moment. I’ve started watching Star Wars videos again and it’s nice to know you’re still making lore videos. I think the majority of my Star Wars knowledge comes from your videos so keep up the great work.
Please make a video on Republic Star Fighters, also please make a video on Republic Clone Wars era vehicles and ships that were still used by the Empire!
I'm still waiting for the "Procrastinator".
I wish we actually saw the Venator and Imperator Class Stardestroyers in the Clone Wars. Also in the old EU, the first version of tge TIE series Fighter. I don't expect a big battle from them, just seeing them in the background in certain scenes would've been great. I didn't know the Tector was created during the end of the Republic Era. I thought it was further on with the Empire. Also getting some real images/designs for the Mandator would be awesome. I feel it was always described more as an oversized Acclamator-Class Assault Ship. Without any official imaging, I just imagined a much larger Acclamator. Thats wider and longer than it is tall shape wise. They've never really explained well, the Venator Class 1 vs Class 2, but the Class 2 was rolling out more towards the end, and didn't have the large opening hangar, so, it's possible maybe the one Obiwan flew out of was a Class 2? A smaller, less suspectable to attack opening on top. Just a little possible head canon on that. Especially since it doesn't look like the rest of it opened like on other Venators.
Anyways, great video. I knew most of those vehicles, but appreciate it all the same, and learned some things (like the Tector-Class Stardestroyer) being around as well.
The Venator wiil most likely always be my fav Stardestoryer that isn't also a super ship like the Eclipse. If they just scaled up and up-gunned the Venator. I think I'd be even more in love with it
With AMG(the company making armada) producing conversion kits for ships I’m curious what elements of the separatists managed to cross over to the rebellion and in general what other famous ships were used by other factions were their any imperial x-wings, etc.
The Rebels had small numbers of Tri-Fighters, I know that much,
@@ToaArcan I think in new cannon they had a heavily upgraded providence before it got blown up and Home 1 replaced it.
Both Venators in Star Wars Armada came in the same ship expansion. FFG provided 2 variants for all of the ships in the game (probably inspired by the ISD 1 and 2 versions), and 5 different ISD variants (the 1, the 2, the Kuot refit, and the Cymoon refit). The purpose was more to allow different fleet costs and fleet builds with each ship.
I kind of like that the republic only has two major lines of ships deployed (Venator and Acclamator). Shows that the republic was not expecting war, and their fleet had to be produced and deployed in an incredibly streamlined manner, whereas the empire was built on its war machinery with their navy being by far the biggest contributor, pumping out ship varieties upon ship varieties.
That looks pure unadulterated badass
If I ever had my own galactic starfleet, I'd likely use and upsized and modernized Harrower class sith warship, using octuple barbett turbolasers, point defense cannons along the center seam, and the front facing hangers removed for more traditional and effective armor, but maintain the side hangars for effective starfighter deployment.
I would upscale to the same size as the Imperial II at 1 mile, but the Harrower II (as I'll call it) would have a SIGNIFICANT fighter complement and power upgrade, as the extra space added by replacing the front facing hangers with more "ship" can allow for a half and half distribution of power generation and hangar space.
I fucking love the mandator 2 it's my favourite starship in this era
Eck, good vid. I highly enjoy you're 8-12 min vids. You are great at getting down to business with Star Wars Lore as well as ships from all eras. I think a lot of the NR ships and on could be covered more in depth. I miss most, your play through games of TR, FOTR, or AOTR, however you seemed really burnt out on that game which is understandable, so if you really don't like playing it anymore no worries. I do remember you saying you never got a lot of views from the Star Wars Empire at War vids so that's valid reason as to why you don't play it anymore. Have a good weekend Eck I hope you didn't have too bad of a hangover from Thursday. I think I had sympathy pains this morning for you.
I saw something called a rothana class star destroyer and it looked dope as hell
Love you videos. But something has been on my mind as I go though another thrawn trilogy. What armor is most commonly used in "lesser space" durasteel? And how does it compare to nyix-alloy hull of the chiss?

Great video! What about the smaller vessels? And you asked for suggestions, maybe a visual comparison in such vid?
This is cool and all.
But how about we look at some of the old Republic warships?
You know... Hammerhead-class Cruisers, Thranta corvettes, Inexpugnable-class tactical command ships, Centurion-class battlecruisers... That would be cool to see.
come on like this idea
how many scorpnek annihilator droids would it take to destroy a umbaran mobile heavy cannon
It interesting if you exclude Acculmators and venators class star destroyer which were ready built to go with clone wars army at start of the conflict and post ruusan reformation dreadnaughts in home defence fleets. The other main capital ships added to republic navy visa victory and imperial class star destroyers during the war were rushed into service to meet one military crisis or another.
In this reality ship classes are usually named for their mission role - simplifying a lot; battleships to trade fire in a pitched battle, cruisers to have long endurance, (torpedo boat) destroyers to keep small craft away from the big ships, torpedo boats to deliver torpedoes, attack/missile submarines to attack ships or launch missiles. In Star Wars reality it's a better convention - star destroyer for big triangles.
Anyone who’s played Fall of the Republic knows the power of a Praetor.
The Republic Navy's prime mission was not to win the Clone Wars, but to prolong it and get Jedi killed … once you consider that then the Star Destroyer philosophy makes perfect sense.
They could couldn't lose the war as the CIS was being nerfed, and could have a major setback due to leaked intelligence whenever they got to far ahead (and vice versa). And they shouldn't be able to just blow the CIS fleet away with specialised tanky sluggers that can outpunch at close range.
The other advantage of the Venator is when Order 66 is triggered… that's a _lot_ of Clone piloted fighters that are able to swarm the Jedi in their midst by sheer numbers.
399 fighters versus one Jedi fighter is better odds that say 60 or so versus one.
The maelstrom reminds me of the imperial frigates from old school battle front 2 in the space fights
Hey Eckhart's..
I get a sense that you play Twilight Imperium.
You have the type.
No new info for me here but good video for those who don’t know about these ships
You should look into Star Citizen lore, there's not the most there yet but I think you'd enjoy what there is
Been watching for years znd somehow never noticed i wasn't subbed
The ending 😂
You should have asked EC Henry to make a model of the Maelstrom battlecruiser for you.
Venator + victory class + acclimators + misc corvettes. A combination of these ships would be brutal If modernized repeatedly and tweaked as needed.
the two fan designs are prettier than the cannon designs.
i know a lot of people don’t like roblox but there’s a really good star wars game on it that’s called Project Stardust and it has like all of these star wars ships and halo ships, it’s basically a fleet vs. fleet battle game
I have a theory that the secutor is a direct republic answer\counterpart to the Lucrehulk
damn i would love to see the victory class in andor
Nice a new video.
Lol says it’s at least a km long immediately brings out the victory 😂
Legends also allowed ISD to enter atmosphere if I remember correctly...
Was the Secutor Class a Republic ship, or was it designed by the Empire?
It was designed for the Republic Navy, but arrived just to late for the Clone Wars and ended up being primarily an Imperial ship.
Coming back to this video after the Bad Batch season 2 I wonder if Rampart's Venator being refitted on Coruscant (before he was arrested) was undergoing the upgrade to Venator II standard while in Imperial service 🤔
P.S.: don't forget the Vindicator-class and it's subsequent evolution the Immobilizer-418 class, both termed as "cruisers" and 600 meters in length. Pocket Star Destroyers! :P
If the Venator 1/2 FFG comment was directed at Armada, this is not accurate, or is at least misleading. The Venator upgrade pack is a box containing a single model that comes with both ship cards; the Ven 1 and 2 are used only with the model that comes with this box, with no need to buy any additional material.
That said, it is accurate to say that they've done this with other ships such as the Chimera Star Destroyer which, to my knowledge is to the T exactly the same model as an ISD but with a different paint job and different dice.
I was playing empire at war and instead of having kuat be a ship yard i made it into an infantry plannet
Day 19 of asking for Titanfall vs halo versus matchup
You kinda forgot to give a proper explanation for the star destroyer. Unlike destroyers, which in the navy are smaller, fast often glass cannon vessels that do a ton of damage, a star destroyer is a heavy cruiser that can threathen a star system on it's own.
This class of ships when it comes to size was usually reserved for ships between cruisers and battlecruisers (so ~1000 m to 2000m long), but there were many exceptions. Mentioned Acclamator was more of a proto-star destroyer and w can argue that Acclamator-II actually counts as a Star Destroyer, due to it's much improved weaponry and shielding over the first model.
Gladiator Star Destroyer is the smallest cruiser that counts as a star destroyer, despite having weaker weapons than several heavy cruisers or even heavy frigates have (Munificent-class star frigate is a prime example here).
In general the first true Star Destroyer is the Victory Class. Unlike Venator (which was more of a carrier) it puts very heavy focus on weaponry while being larger than the largest heavy cruisers and frigates.
Fun fact: Destroyer is short for "Torpedo Boat Destroyer", as that is what they were designed to deal with. Star Destroyer is thus very appropriately named when the context and etymology of the term is taken into account.
If memory serves, the grey Venators appear in the end of ROTS... but I could be mistaken

@3:52
Isn't that a hangar right there? There just appears to be a door in it's location.
Would be nice if we could see some Victory class destroyers in Bad Batch. I hope they don't just jump to the ISDs.
bad batch is pretty terrible in this regard because they jump way too quickly to OT empire. clones are already phased and not even a year has passed , already proto stormtroopers with more OT Style stormtrooper armor also not a year has passed. we have 20 year to play with but instead of gradual shift or seeing the reconquest of the rim , they sppedeun straight to rebels and empire. creatively bankrupt is this show and i doubt they pit on the breaks on season 2 also they really dont show the good sides of the empire that makes us believe how it ruled for 20 years and of course the clones are way way to indivdualist , if you treat Clones who are bred to be loyal most of the time less loyal than just regular stormtroopers you screwed up
@@laisphinto6372 I like bad batch except a few too many cameos, unless being a blatant Rebels prequel is the point.
The empire abandoning the clones quickly doesn't really bother me too much, I think I read in even a lot of early novels like the Republic Commando books that the Fett genes were running thin even during the clone wars and either the Republic was going to soon need more donors or just use recruits. So, they maybe compressed the timeline a tad, but the clones served their purpose and were a unique thing in the history of the galaxy, for war. So eventually it was going to happen.
@@Deadeye313 the clone out phasing is just compressed its mentally idiotic in disney/filoni cannon. not even a year is passed and they already completely phasing clones out. in the Expanded Universe there were still fighting several sieges and launched 5 years a massive campaign known as the reconquest of the rim. it was omly after the kamino uprising they considering phasing out clones actively before they didnt replace clones with recruits but added ghem because the imperial military machine needed that much more manpower,so for me phasing out existing clones that are capable is dumb especially when not even a year has passed and there are still several CIS holdouts to fight against
@@Deadeye313 eventually seems for me to be 5 years and all clones serve till they are no longer combat effective
What about the Legacy and the Chancellor class star destroyers

The end of revenge of the sith
@@galadato7425 aah i was thinking it was one of the films, or else a short or something. Thanks!
I am not sure if the Victory had a canon appearance jet, so I see it as an Legends ship. Regardless it would be nice to see the ISD's little Brother in one of the shows like Bad Batch or Andor. But Disney has been lazy with new vessels, even if they only need some relatively small alterations for their ISD model to make it a Victory class.
There is some canon appearances: FFG has some card images of it fighting a providence and gaurding an onager class, the tarkin novel has one help in the capture of a stolen ship, and the darth vader comic has them in vaders fleet
'Disney has been lazy' This is literally Dave Filoni's fault, he could have included Victorys at any point before the Disney takeover, he could have included all sorts of Legends stuff, but instead ignored them out of convenience, which has meant that a whole bunch of good content can't be made Canon. Even the original films weren't safe, he tried to retcon the QIL in the Mon Cala arc to spew some bullshit about how the CIS were tricking them and they had no real reason to separate.
As a canon loophole while the Vic mark I was largest star destroyer that had enough inbuilt repulsor capacity to lift off a 1g world, that isn't to say that an ImpStar couldn't do the same over a body with less than 1g of gravity (and you can even find it in the EU stories).
In reality Disney is just being cash grabby, ie. they didn't use a Victory-class Star Destroyer for that movie shot because they didn't want to pay the author royalties for it: they've already canceled the extended universe as canon only to use some rather similar story lines (this after they got sued for not paying royalties in the first place, "we only bought the copyright, not the royalty obligations"-Disney), they stole fan art and compiled it into a book they sold for money with zero credits given (royalties? Ha), and even gave one of the staring actresses in one of their films the shaft so they could keep more money for themselves. It all comes down to money.
What are you on about? No, it had nothing to do with this royalties bullcrap you are on about. It takes time to create models, and the ISD is iconic, the ISD has selling power, and most importantly the ISD would definitely appear in RO. Therefore they modelled the ISD only and ran with it. The Victory and a significant number of EU ships have been Canonised for a long while. You are spewing crap to make Disney look worse than they are.
