Mine crossed 300k and no major issues in the last 2 decades. I have another panther which crossed 500k and still running without any major issues.

2:08 that's one good engine, 8 years sat & it's still holding oil pressure lol Reminds me of the story about Rolls Royce engines being that close tolerance that sometimes you could just switch on the ignition and the engine would fire on whatever cylinder was still on compression haha. Guess some folk believed it too.

I have three Isuzus on the road. A 91 with 370+, a 95 with 190k, and a 98 with 210k. All great trucks. I live in semi-arid, no salt, Colorado. So I just keep the fluids fresh and they keep running fine☺️

A very underrated Japanese car company. There's just something about Japanese car makers with their quality, Toyotas, Hondas, Mitsubishis, Isuzu's, Subarus, Mazda's, and Old Nissan's/Datsun's are just unkillable. We had an ISUZU Rodeo from 2001 and it ran very well until some sh**ty Buick LaCrosse hit us in the back and then on top of that a (2004) Ford F-Series hit us in the front. Could've kept going for even longer, that's it makes me sad, it had 203 and something thousand miles on it. Very good V6 and transmission. And our neighbor still has their 1999 Trooper working.

My dad has had a few of these, he currently has the newer 3.1 diesel one, unfortunately in the U.K. a lot of the early 2.8 tdi diesel ones got broke and engines were used in land rovers.
Could have had an obstruction in the exhaust pipe , maybe mouse nest or something at first, causing engine stalling, but as exhaust was rusted, it blew a massive hole in itself, or simply fractured due to massive corrosion, and then the engine seemed to run without stalling. It sounded like a drivebelt ancillary was seizing at first too, maybe the waterpump or PAS bearings failing, but that seemed to right itself after engine warmed up. Sounded very loud without the mufflers, and definitely not firing on all cylinders!
Maybe just re-do some of his steps? Crank it by hand, add some fresh oil (while cranking), check any pipes for blockage or misfiring spark plugs, starter motor?! Rebuilt engines - if with new pistons and rods and seals tend to be very hard on start-ups cause of friction, parts needs to work themselves together. Also distributor caps and fuel filters can be a dud from factory!
Hahah, this looks like so much fun 😃 done this to an old frontera a few years ago, the only difference was that it looked a bit better on the outside, but it was missing the whole exhaust, the front diff was missing, and it had no license plates ( the car was out of business for a few years), i made it run, then drove it home 200kms on fake plates, at night, including the motorway at 160kmh tempo 😂😂 maaan it was the loudest thing ever 😂 my girlfriend was following me in a diesel e34, what isnt a silent car by any means, and she said she only heard the opel all the way 😂 it got home though, without any problems, i was surprized, it wasnt even overheating
A 1989 Nissan Patrol it comes to personal preference here, if there anything like a Nissan Xterra off roading then it doesn’t even come to a Isuzu trooper.
Devon Ferguson in australia the patrol is the second most popular 4x4, second to the toyota landcruiser. They also sold the trooper here as the holden jackaroo but it never was popular. Still seems like a good off roader.
It's never a proper test drive of the four wheel drive until you get stuck in the mud 😊 As long as you have a tractor to pull you out. Lots of fun! 🚙🚜😎
I have a 99 Isuzu Trooper it just won't stay started(5years of sitting) but when it does start it runs beautifully/ quiet I really like this vehicle it runs better than my other vehicle which is a 2018 ...... It just drains the battery and I have to keep restarting it ( jumping )after six/seven hours driving it .....
I could have one of these that hasn't run now in almost 20 years. Been in a garage since 2004. It isn't running all flat tires. Will look at it in person next week. He said it ran when parked inside the garage. Think I should get it !? Located in canada. Love your videos. I learn alot.
Im sure you need to remove fuel tank, clean it and new fuel pump too (Usually fuel pump is trash after 5 years of standing). Check timing belt and oil too. Before starting change out engine oil or start it and do oil change with warm engine. Check for rust before too and depends how much rust is there and what is price. Cant tell at moment if it is worth buying.

Some Troopers in the States came with a Chevy, made 2.8 ltr v6 with throttle body fuel injection. It made no more HP than the Isuzu made 2.6 ltr 4cyl but had a bit more low end torque.
Thanks for the upload. I just bought a 2.6 4 liter with 215k, it is the 4x4 5 speed manual, I tested 1 cylinder compression without putting oil in it and it dropped 127 psi, I was in a hurry and didn't test the other 3, the engine ain't throwing smoke nor anything. I'll be using it for short trips in a farm I have and light duty work, not severe, in a weather that goes in summer at 34°c - 45°c max and in winter from 0°c occasionally to 25°c. I don't have the manual, my question is, I've seen in the oil recommendation search of several brands such as amsoil, shell, mobil, Kroon and they recommend from 5w30 synthetic to 20w50 mineral. What would you suggest I'll use? I was thinking 5w30 synthetic helix hx8 dexos1 gen 2 with 850 zddp max in winter and in summer 5w40 mobil 1 European formula with 1000ppm zddp mobil fs or 0w40 mobil 1 fs?

@@shirleynaldoza106 Weird, voltage regulator should do its job. Have you measured charging voltage? Some BMW guys install more powerful alternators and they dont have problems.

@@it8395 Ну,смотрите на коррозию рамы и кузова.З/ч стоят копейки,на надо знать артикульные номера,что б под заказ,это в инете и на форумах есть.Очень много взаимозаменяемых з/ч с других авто.Двиг я менял,на контрактный т.к. он не дорогой и на том(старом)моторе гнуло клапана(поршня плоские),а на контрактном на поршнях уже есть выемки заводские👍смотрите давление масла,в кабине есть манометр,у меня масло 5w30 на холодную около 4бар,на горячую(на холостых)2бара давление.Бензонасос от ваз2110- 5-й год уже.Да простой автомобиль,в общем.Вывесите колёса,ШРУСы на люфты колесом пошатайте,карданы...как то так.
@@it8395 по з/ч - это опель фронтера А,китайский грит ховер,сцепление ниссан патрол(диск и корзина).Китайцы у исузу лицензию выкупили,в своё время,так что аналогов полно...Двиг смотрите и КПП,в КПП я вообще не лазил никогда,а мотор менял-так для меня дешевле с навесным оказалось.
@@it8395 у меня на повседнев,просто всё во время обслуживать и всё👍крестовины с тавотницами,масло и ремни менять во время.Поломки предсказуемые,не встанет на дороге.Ну и бензонасос,да катушку с собой вожу,на всякий случай...надёжный аппарат,сейчас у нас под -30С,заводится без проблем,стоит возле дома на улице всегда,хотя и есть хороший гараж.Гараж необходим при обслуживании авто таких лет.Машина очень простая и не прихотливая,многое прощает.У меня уже 9-й год,привык и продавать не собираюсь,хотя есть 2-я машина.
@@Flexiny Now my trooper is in the workshop and only in the front it had a lot of rust, the doors were down, the mechanic already repaired the doors and just need to put the hood and it's ready to paint, I also have 2 vw beetles one is blue and the other one is white.

Good lord I wished you were near me! I have an 88 I rebuilt the 2.6 on and I can't get it to run. You get a dang derelict car to run

The fuel pump only runs when the ecu sees activity on the altinator. Unplug the green round plug on the back and the fuel pump runs
That is incorrect, the ecu has no control over the fuel pump on an engine this old
@@Imthebestaround88 the fuel pump relay is tied in to the output of the alternator. if the engine stops so does the fuel pump. I have 6 of these cars.
Bypass the relay in fuse box

En hp no se cuando tendría de potencia tendría este modelo de izusu de los años 90tas genial vehículo para trabajar y para salir en familia y viajar con equipaje o salir al campo con ese buen motor y llantas generales y neumáticos buenos y esas llantas son de 16 pulgadas ese motor ojala tenga unos 150 a 170 hp eso esta bien y regular para un doble tracción 4x4 eso y de esos años mas que suficiente eso buen video este me gustó mucho este vehículo en todo genial izusu de los años 90tas genial buen doble tracción 4x4 y station wagon. Genial habían en versiones a gasolina y petróleo es los años 90tas eso. Saludos desde chile. Vivas los vehículos clásicos don los mejores siempre eso.

has anybody ever replaced a clutch arm on a 5 speed trooper trnsmission?
What does he do with all these old worn out cars? I mean it's nice to watch them being alive again, but the damage is to big on these rust buckets :)
he just starts them up for videos and that's it, they don't get technical inspection or insurance, nothing.
He said in another comment section that he would like to restore some and some others he tries to sell them, and the ultimate goal would be collecting some of these cars but he has no garage to keep them stored appropriately

@@it8395 Ну,смотрите на коррозию рамы и кузова.З/ч стоят копейки,на надо знать артикульные номера,что б под заказ,это в инете и на форумах есть.Очень много взаимозаменяемых з/ч с других авто.Двиг я менял,на контрактный т.к. он не дорогой и на том(старом)моторе гнуло клапана(поршня плоские),а на контрактном на поршнях уже есть выемки заводские👍смотрите давление масла,в кабине есть манометр,у меня масло 5w30 на холодную около 4бар,на горячую(на холостых)2бара давление.Бензонасос от ваз2110- 5-й год уже.Да простой автомобиль,в общем.Вывесите колёса,ШРУСы на люфты колесом пошатайте,карданы...как то так.
@@it8395 по з/ч - это опель фронтера А,китайский грит ховер,сцепление ниссан патрол(диск и корзина).Китайцы у исузу лицензию выкупили,в своё время,так что аналогов полно...Двиг смотрите и КПП,в КПП я вообще не лазил никогда,а мотор менял-так для меня дешевле с навесным оказалось.

@@it8395 у меня на повседнев,просто всё во время обслуживать и всё👍крестовины с тавотницами,масло и ремни менять во время.Поломки предсказуемые,не встанет на дороге.Ну и бензонасос,да катушку с собой вожу,на всякий случай...надёжный аппарат,сейчас у нас под -30С,заводится без проблем,стоит возле дома на улице всегда,хотя и есть хороший гараж.Гараж необходим при обслуживании авто таких лет.Машина очень простая и не прихотливая,многое прощает.У меня уже 9-й год,привык и продавать не собираюсь,хотя есть 2-я машина.
i have a 1982 chevrolet trooper 2 door the engine is great but the front is damaged so i have to repair it and repaint it
I also use 1991 Isuzu Trooper 2 door and it is in good condition.
@@Flexiny Now my trooper is in the workshop and only in the front it had a lot of rust, the doors were down, the mechanic already repaired the doors and just need to put the hood and it's ready to paint, I also have 2 vw beetles one is blue and the other one is white.
I'll tell you what, that's a real trooper if ya ask me.
