Lool It’s not awkward to weave through a Nigerian wedding, we love photography and we love it even more when the modifiers are in our faces 😁 because we believe the pictures will be even more beautiful
This was one of the best videos I have ever seen on UA-cam. I'm a dog trainer and learning photography but I was actually entirely entertained the whole time. You have a gift for this
I think this is the best example video for any want to be wedding photographer. You are. A product photographer. Rings, shoes, tables, cards, You are. A portrait photographer. Self explanatory cause you’re dealing with people. You are. A street photographer. Cause you need to include all the background as a backdrop in the back of your head. And where to place people. This works and not this. You are. A Nature photographer. Or maybe even wildlife. Lots of pictures outside the venue. And you’ve got to think about the compositions and lighting. So all in all. You do every genre of photography. In a few hours of work. Big thanks for sharing. 👍🏻
I do studio photography where I can control all of my light; I've been hired for a wedding, this video was extremely helpful. I feel like I can do this now, and will be better prepared, Thanks a ton!!
Yet another fantastic video Taylor ! There is ton of info here that is already making me feel much better about of camera flash. There are a few items that I can't wait to try at my next wedding. I agree completely with the Godox flashes/transmitters, they simply work great.
There is so much info packed into this video it’s ridiculous!! Your ability to think on the go and change it up, left right and centre is also ridiculous. You know your craft so so well, you’re faster than a machine. Great to watch, now I’m gonna watch it again!! Thank you!!
So very helpful. Doing my first real paying wedding tomorrow. Church is dark, low ceiling. Reception venue is barn- type, wood everywhere and no white walls. Dim lighting. Fingers crossed.
Before I watch... I picked up a Godox V1 on Wednesday and used it the same night at an event (on TTL because I do be scared tho 😂) entire venue was painted black besides one white wall with black cursive words on it. It worked so well!
Superb video, thank you! A lot of thinking on your feet. I guess starting out its good to have a handful of ideas that you know works and don't try and be too ambitious - I like how you use only 1 or 2 lights but get great results with a natural look to them 😉 👍
Taylor, thank you for posting these videos. The quality of your images are superb and your simple instruction and explanations of what you're doing in each shot is so useful and vaulable. Awesome
Okay, you are a total pro. I can tell because you make it look so easy, and you work with a minimal amount of gear. Oh, and your photos are just excellent. Thanks for this refreshing tutorial. You prove that fanciness of gear and method is often just fluff. One more thing, your presentation/personality makes your invaluable information also really a blast to watch! Thanks!
Awesome Video, I enjoyed it along with your commentary. You're an Awesome Skilled, Talented Pro that knows light, your Gear, and the talent, skills to use at it maximum potential. Thank You for sharing your amazing work.
You have the best videos Taylor, I've watched this particular one so many times over the years, and as I've progressed with OCF, and used it at events, I keep coming back to this video and it's like I learn something new each time I watch it, perspective and context are everything I guess lol.
I always use indoor off camera flash like this on the bride hair and makeup session we use to shoot around here before the wedding itself. Gives really great results
Thank you Taylor for putting this together. I enjoyed it. Im thinking of upgrading and leveling up my lighting technique. You explained everything so nicely.
This is a game changer for me. The speeches and dances can be very testing and my last shoot was poor. If I used my flash in this way those pix would have been transformed. Really looking forward to implementing this technique very soon. Thank you so so much for sharing this as it’s massive in my opinion. Huge fan of your work 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Loving this video. I really appreciate the images edited in, I know how much work that is to edit. I did an outdoor wedding with no flash, but my next one is indoor and I need a flash. Looking for V1 reviews and I found this. Got the flash, the trigger, and the gel/snoot kit in my cart. Can't wait to practice. Thank you!
Thank you so much Taylor. For me this was incredibly insightful and has given me the knowledge / confidence to improve what I deliver to my customers. Best wishes. PS; May you continue to have the greatest of Pizza dreams.
You give such fantastic no BS facts here(in all your vids) based on what you actually do. I will be following your advice to the letter. Thankyou for letting us see all this stuff you do!
what a great video! answered a ton of questions i had! Came to watch for a few minutes, ended up watching all the way through 😂 The room with the view got me! lol
I shot one wedding as a second shooter and I brought too much gear. I was sooo sore the next day. 2 camera bodies, 2 flashes, 3 lenses (Nikon 24-70, 14-24 and 70-200). I also brought a small soft box and light stand for off camera flash.
Remember your feet are your best tool. Ditch the 3 telephotos, bring a 70-200, then got 1 other prime, eg, 35mm. If you need wider, go wider with 24mm. you are not there to take WIDE panoramic, or group photos. The main phot can do the super wides anyway. Unless he said he wanted you to focus on specifically wides or something. Never bother with soft boxes, there is just no need. Use ISO and off camera flash as you need, as long as faces are in focus, a bit ISO makes no difference to the wedding couple that see the people in the photos. Just my 2 cents worth.
I love your videos. It would be nice to get some more insight as to where the flash was placed. It was clear in some locations, but not so much in others.
"usually the hair and makeup person have them look at the good light" w00t 👀? I haven't been on a lot of weddings but it sounds very next level if you have the hair and makeup person coaching you into fabulous light! I guess it makes your job a little bit easier. Anyhow. Great video as usual with actual helpful tips. (I only shot for hobby but your advice seems legit)
i'm at minute 30:00 but this already teached me so much. I own a flash for a few years now but never used it because i didn't know. Thanks for all of your adivce.
One thing to note about Godox and the way they function with Nikon at least: If you use the Godox XPro trigger branded for Nikon on a Nikon, you'll get a warmer color tone than there actually is. If you use the Sony or Canon branded trigger, or stack your Nikon trigger onto a "dumb" trigger, the colors will be accurate. You lose your TTL, and need to shoot manual. Something to be aware of that will effect your post processing.
Great video some great tips in there I’ve not shot a wedding in years and I’ve got a friends sisters wedding coming up which is a good low stress shoot as they wasn’t going to bother having a photographer do that takes the pressure off me and I can just experiment with the gear and a lot of trial and error see what works and what doesn’t one thing that did prick my ears up was the location where was all wood and no good for bouncing the flash makes me feel like just putting a small softbox on there will resolve that issue without being too intrusive!!
1 minute in to the video and already I can tell that this is gonna be different from what we do here in Sweden. I have never heard of anyone using a flash during the actual ceremony. We often tend to marry at a church so any type of extra lights are frowned upon. This creates all kinds of problems of course since its daylight mixed with LED's and old incandescent bulbs...yeah...it's nightmare!
That's sad how they put you in a completely different room to eat...at my wedding and all weddings in my country the musicians and photographers have their table in the same room, albeit at the entrance of the venue but still, just a table away from the other guests, and they get the same food as we do. Great and helpful video, thank you so much!
My one advice to newer photographers is that if you go off camera understand the equipment inside and out, it can be damn hard to work out in the moment why your broadcast unit isn't speaking to your flash. It's complicated stuff and best to learn it inside and out.
Thanks again for all your helpful info in your videos. I have 2 questions in regards to flash. The first is when you are shooting your flash (both on and off camera) do you modify the zoom at all or do you just leave it. And if you do leave it, are you setting it wide, middle or zoomed? Second question is ... If you were buying the GoDox V1 with transmitter, would you be buying the XPro transmitter or the X2T? Saw that you can manipulate your off camera flash with the X2T, can you do the same with the XPro. Ill never be shooting with more than 2 flashes probably ever. Thanks again for your help and its amazing that you actually reply to some of these comments. If you ever have a shoot in or around Halifax NS id totally be down to be a free second or third or forth camera!
So very informative! Thank you. I do wonder how you get an empty reception hall to shoot, where i live, the guests are typically in the halls by the time the bridal party arrives there.
Possibly a dumb question but I have rewatched portions of this to better understand and still don't. What is the purpose of your pocket wizard? It's not mentioned when talking about your equipment in the beginning, but it's used mid video. Help? Sorry! And thanks in advance!! Happy shooting everyone!
Always learning and taking notes from your work flow and photography skills. I Noticed that around the 1400.. time frame you held the front function button and changed to 24-26. Do you mind sharing what this was for.? You went from outdoor to indoors when you made the change.
If you want to get creative in daylight it's important, but at a regular wedding day I'm always fine. I usually have to be at like 1/100th of a second or so to minimize light flicker anyways
Great video ! Thank you for taking the time to make your videos. I'm shooting a wedding scheduled for noon outside. I'm concerned about black eye syndrome if it is a sunny day. I'm thinking large reflectors for fill and an OCF with a large umbrella. Thoughts? Thanks, Patrick Lynch
I’m going to try the bounce-only approach for OCF for my next wedding. I’ve only done one (last weekend in Paris), and made the mistake of lugging modifiers, half of which I didn’t use because of the time and hassle to set it up without an assistant.

This is literally the best wedding flash video on UA-cam.
Happy you find it helpful!
Lool
It’s not awkward to weave through a Nigerian wedding, we love photography and we love it even more when the modifiers are in our faces 😁 because we believe the pictures will be even more beautiful
Can we just appreciate the v1 though? I've replaced all of my old canon strobes and I went 3 weddings before having to charge them. 😮
I forgot it needed to be charged😣
This was one of the best videos I have ever seen on UA-cam. I'm a dog trainer and learning photography but I was actually entirely entertained the whole time. You have a gift for this
Thanks for watching! Happy it could help!

The composition of the balcony shots were crisp
Thank you. It was a cold evening

Bro, the table for 1 had dying 😂. “This is the table where the help eats.” Great stuff Taylor, keep it up 👍🏽

Great Vid....what I love about this video is that you have introduced a style ...not a technique, so leaving it up to us the get creative. Brilliant!
Awesome Video, I enjoyed it along with your commentary. You're an Awesome Skilled, Talented Pro that knows light, your Gear, and the talent, skills to use at it maximum potential. Thank You for sharing your amazing work.

I always use indoor off camera flash like this on the bride hair and makeup session we use to shoot around here before the wedding itself. Gives really great results
Looking at BTS from shoot - I am glad I am not the only that has not removed the QC sticker LOL. Great information.
I wish they’d make them bigger and harder to remove
I don't even do weddings anymore but I learn something every time I watch your videos lol
So much value in just the first two minutes of the video!! Thank you!
Thank you Taylor for putting this together. I enjoyed it. Im thinking of upgrading and leveling up my lighting technique. You explained everything so nicely.

The 2049 reference was HILARIOUS!!!🤣🤣🤣
Thank you soooooo much for this! I have my first wedding next month and needed more portable lighting than my Einstein. Bought two v1s today 👌🏻👌🏻
How did your first wedding shoot go?
@@rumporridge1 as good as I could’ve hoped. Definitely the v1s and have used them a lot since
@@FastPawz on your path sis. Will look to add the V1s to my Godox lineuo. God bless and wish the best success. Thanks for the quick reply too.

such a great video. I watched the full video without even knowing an hour passed. so informational. Great teacher
As a wedding photographer myself I love this video.
Also check out the leaf kick from the groom at 37:55 very considerate.

what a great video! answered a ton of questions i had! Came to watch for a few minutes, ended up watching all the way through 😂 The room with the view got me! lol

Awesome video TJ. Thanks for taking the time to document some fun weddings. You are a champion!

I do not shoot weddings but nice tips and recommendations. Very well done in situation. Appreciate a lot. Great shoots. Thanks 🙏
Love how simple you make everything!
Love the sound the shutter makes on the d850!
Super informative video.. So glad I found it. I have a LOT to learn about off camera flash usage with weddings. This really helped a ton.
What an amazing video! I really enjoyed it and your bounce flash resulted in great results. Thank you.
Thank you Sir....i learnt alot about lighting from this video 👏

Wedding photography is not my genre, but this was very enjoyable to watch.
Always love your content. Extremely helpful and educational while not boring. Hahaha. Thank you Taylor!
Thanks for this really informative video on off-camera light. This really helped me decide on what to focus on getting.
Wow. This video has so much useful info, explanations and BTS . It is simple and fun, and definitely helps me alot.
Love the Blade Runner reference! Love that movie!
Watching your video make me lots happy
Also, Taylor do not trust the little plastic foot. I've had two break and send my v1's falling. Since then, I've grabbed three s2 brackets.
That's sad to hear! I haven't had problems yet, but probably makes sense to get something a bit better since I use it all the time.

This was awesome 🤩. So many pointers to take from this. Thanks for sharing 🥰.
Masterclass. Saved. Thank you. ❤
A lot of work to your videos man ! Thank you for sharring info...
My one advice to newer photographers is that if you go off camera understand the equipment inside and out, it can be damn hard to work out in the moment why your broadcast unit isn't speaking to your flash. It's complicated stuff and best to learn it inside and out.
Thanks for the vid man. I'm heading off to shoot a wedding at an old prison now. Should be fun working out the lighting! 😄
so much value!

Your instruction is amazing. Ty
Awesome content. I always use your videos as a refresher, before going into any wedding. You said there is a Controller simpler than the X2T-c?
Been waiting for this one! 👍
I loved this video. I watched the whole thing
I'm looking forward to get the V1, not sure yet about ad100 pro how it will fit my current kit, but looks really nice. Thanks for the video!
Love your videos mate ! Is this the only flash you use or are you reviewing it for Godox ? How long have you used it for ? Appreciate the content !
Hahaha the commercial was awesome!
So very informative! Thank you. I do wonder how you get an empty reception hall to shoot, where i live, the guests are typically in the halls by the time the bridal party arrives there.
Great video, thank you sharing your knowledge I have greatly benefitted from it !
V1 works as a trigger too ☺️

Hey. Can you say if it's necessary to have flashes with HSS or can you work with ordinary ones? Do you often use the HSS function? Thank you.

Taylor thanks for this video
EXTREMELY INFORMATIVE- THANKS 👍👍👍
I’m going to try the bounce-only approach for OCF for my next wedding. I’ve only done one (last weekend in Paris), and made the mistake of lugging modifiers, half of which I didn’t use because of the time and hassle to set it up without an assistant.
Great info! Thanks for sharing!
great video!!
Fantastic!
After watching this, I'm getting the V1. You produced some great results with it. What was your main focal length lens?
Great video
Awesome Tips, thanks!
Great ideas. Thanks for the video :)
44:34… the pictures are lovely! You using 85mm or 70-200? 😊
Thanks a lot, very helpful !!
You are awesome💪
