I am going to start learning flash photography. I want a not too heavily priced, lightweight, portable setup that I can take with me wherever I go to cultivate and continue this new hobby of mine. What do you suggest?
I like that they share the same batteries. I have a v1, (2) ad200, and an ad600. I can't justify buying an ad100 and lose power just to share the same batteries as my v1. Especially since already owning the ad200. This was a nice review, thank you 🙏🏼
Since I shoot on multiple camera platforms (Sony, Canon, and Olympus), the AD100 makes a lot of sense since I would only need one flash, and just the different triggers for each camera
Would it not make more sense for you to get a second ad200 since they are a similar price and that gives you the option of using the bracket to combine the ad200's into 1 light?
Great comparison between the two. Still thinking of getting the V1. I wonder if Godox are planning to update the rest of their line up with the new bodies and batteries
I would say the misfiring is due to shooting at 1/1 only? I don't use full power that often, but to my experience the V1 is trusted, too (I just got the AD100 pro yesterday, want some comparison between the 2, and finished your review). Another feedback is that you should be consistent on setting side of the item.
thank you for the great comparison video! I do have one question. In the outdoor images at 7:15 did you shoot both images with the same white balance? Because the background green seems extremely different to me. Overall the v1 seems a little warmer than the ad100pro. Thank you and have a good day!

Thanks for the review.. I have the godox V1 flash I love it I never had a misfire and I don't know if you mentioned it but I also love the fact that the godox v1 can act as a wireless controller for the godox flash system.

Useful Review... I have both and love using them as two off camera flash. Test comparison in studio: There is a slight white balance issue but nothing to serious and the power on the V1 is 1 stop weaker at around 5 meters at full power. So when I'm outdoors in sun and need fill with a softbox my choice is the AD100Pro.
Hey, out of curiosity, why did you start with the AD100 pro as opposed to the speedlight style joints? I'm torn between the V860ii and the AD100 pro. I'm thinking about the run and gun situations vs the reliability.
I notice with the XPro transmitter you have to set it up to "speedlite / 200JL / 300JL or 650JL" - Does the AD100pro come under speedlite? I'm asking because I have the V1 and would need to know if it fires in this mode. I'm new to Godox and still working out their systems. Thanks
so far ive been using the V850ii speed light and i get good outdoor portraits but im willing to upgrade, between ad100pro and ad200 which one would you go for
Any insights on the AD100Pro slight green tint issue due to a different color front element? I have a V1 and considering getting 2 more ad100Pros and 1 ad300Pro.
The 100 price is too close to the 200 I'm considering the 200pro and the vi as I shoot events a lot including weddings and on camera flash is sometimes necessary. Of course the vi also works off camera and the 200 pro gives more power and faster recycling time when needed.

Perhaps starting with an on-camera flash then progressing to off-camera flash using a trigger, so a setup like the Godox V1 paired with an XPro trigger. If that's above your budget you can go for a smaller flash like the Godox V350 paired with the XPro trigger
this is very nice to know! also, have you experienced problems with overheating protection on the 860? I have a tt685 and when shooting weddings in a suuny day, the flash just stop shooting, its so unreliable
@@opfinger I use the 860 II mostly as a transmitter on camera and another one as a kick so I can’t really tell but V1 I’m pretty sure it overheats easily on a hot day. Here in Brazil we have 30-40 degrees during many days of summer
MS300 vs SK300II / SK400II please.. my MS300 misfire a lot but it was unpredictable.. I've changed the channel to avoid signal interference, I also use 0-30m setting on the xpro trigger, sometimes it even misfire when triggered with the test button on the back
The VI has also more Zoom ... The normal Speedlights have much more Zoom, and white reflector, and a diffuser, ... So what, you can't blend them with professional Flashlights because they have 5800K instead of 5600K, (you see this) and it drove me crazy. Why not invest in professional flashlights! The Fanel lens of both of them gives ugly light... Save money and get the AD200 or the Yongnuo YN200. You can trigger with the remote control from Godox the Yongnuo remote control or you use the small Yongnuo remote controls for every Godox ... So it works. Yongnuo remote controls are much more reliable than Godox remote controls. And Yongnuo speed lights have 5600K. In any case, I use both, because I have both...

Great comparison and explains why I have the recycle issue with the V1 which can be annoying at times 😅 I have both the V1 and AD 100 pro definitely looking to get another AD100 pro especially as there a great fit to carry in my kit 👍👍👍
It's a bad idea if the AD100 is mounted onto the X2 trigger as it would have a pretty high chance of snapping the hot shoe. Mounted onto a camera cage instead of the trigger might be doable.
@@hypop You're right. But, I don't see how it's that much more stress on the amount than the V1 mount itself. I know some of the godox speed lights had mount breakage issues. I need an on camera flash to add to my AD200PROs and AD400PRO. Would you choose this wacky setup I suggested or just a simple V1?
1. The AD100 has a fan to help with the heating issue that the reviewer mentions, whereas the V1 doesn't. 2. The AD100 has more power. 3. Since it's more compact I can fit more of them into my bag; my Lowepro Magnum 200 fits a camera, two lenses, and FOUR of these great little units! 4. It's a little faster and easier to put it into the S2 bracket than the V1, which is nice when you use so many units on a shoot. 5. I like the AD 100's menu and button setup much more. I have and like both of these flashes, but when I'm shooting with a softbox I always use the AD100. I hope this helps.
Let us know which products we should compare next down in the comments below!
Pls make video godox v1 vs ad200

Thanks for the info. I have 2 GODOX V1 flashes, I’ve never needed full 1:1 power and never had a misfire. I sure I never do have misfire issues.

You're certainly correct. It can act as a master flash therefore control groups of lights also!
Almost all godox speedlite can do that

Was waiting for this. I would love to know more with V1 and ad100
Hope the video helped!
Good info, but I never understand the need to switch camera angles, what's the benefit of that if you're not looking into the second camera?
No mention of the HSS used to compare these two relatively low-powered flashes at 1/1600 shutter speed. That will certainly provoke misfires.
Thanks for this. This was very helpful as I already have the ad100 and was considering the Godox v1

Big thanks, so educated. Love this chanel. Can you make a video Sekonic Light meter and how to used and how important light meter.
excelente explicacion amigo... gracias
What I would love to see is a trigger that can be connected to the ad 100 , so I can use it on camera. That would be very nice .
A cold shoe to 1/4” adapter would work however the AD100Pro may still be too heavy to rest on a hot shoe.
What power was used for the V1 when it's diffused with Parabolic softbox?
Great video....thanks for posting!
Our pleasure!

Good, informative video; appreciated.
Ad100 can works plug to energy ot only batteries?
Only battery powered at this stage
I would have liked some comparison on the flash duration :( using these to capture action.
can i use V1 with umbrella as a fill light outdoors or its too weak?
You can definitely use it as a fill outdoors. Utilising HSS will produce the best results when working with natural / ambient light.
Informative, nice, and clear! Thanks, Hypop!

Except the ad100 has a fan to cool it and neither the V1 or AD200 do. It’s basically a clone of the 1K$ profoto A2

Will my flashpoint r2 transmitter trigger the godox ad100
Yep!
if im speding that much anyway for a ad100, get a ad200pro, for almost same amount, the v1 is so nice tho
Glad you talked about the recycling time, I use the V1 and 2 Godox 860 ll
The 860’s recycles faster
