Years back when I first heard of thrusting, I was intrigued and loved the idea. But I was hesitant because back then there wasn't much information available to learn how to do it right and I didn't want to lose tons of money trying to learn. But now there's a lot more information about it and I'm planning on starting thrifting in the new year. Thank you for sharing your info
I see some unsuspecting elderly people trying to make a few extra dollars in these hard times, and here’s you knowing full well how much these items are really worth and you don’t even pay them a fair price for them, do you have a heart or a conscience it’s ok to give em an extra couple of dollars it won’t hurt you’re 100s% profit too much but it might actually heal you’re conscience 👍🏻
@thriftersifter hey great shorts! how do you package glass or breakables for shipping? I’m not sure of the best way to pack these items. I would love any advice
You can't find stuff like that in your cells. I'm sorry but maybe in California are some nicer areas but a lot of people who don't have much money so it's not really good stuff there. So I guess it depends where you're at
If you have public transportation use that to go to a thrift store in a better area until you have enough money to get a vehicle. You could also go with a friend and get items that you don't have to compete each other for
Many folks don't want to bother listing an item and also have to deal with shipping the item and by the time ebay takes their cut it may be not be worth it
And eBay selling can include long waits for something to sell, PITA buyers, etc. Something that sells today, may not next month. I've done both and garage sales are quick cash in hand whereas eBay is more time &:effort and a crapshoot.
Great question. I’m not an expert but I just happen to know someone who sells a lot of this brand. I actually called them on the spot to look at it. There was a number on the inside for one and just by looking at the hardware and quality they could tell. Stitching and things like that. There is some good UA-cam videos about how to authenticate Dooney & Burke bags too.
@@thriftersifter gotcha. I had tried to authenticate a couple on my own in the past but they were much older styles and the resources weren't as abundant for those styles as they are for super modern bags. It's usually a good indicator when the seller has all the original packaging and stuff too like the one you show.
Hi! Loved that Dooney. I paid attention when you said, "Make sure they are authentic." how can you or I ensure they are authentic? I am sitting here scratching my head. Expecting an honest answer, Thanks
Not a dumb question. If you type in garage sales near me you can find, you can also find on signs in your neighborhood usually it’s a colored sign that people will put on a pole or traffic light or something that says yard sale or garage sale with a date and address, you can also look on Facebook marketplace etc
Other videos show sold. But including the sold is time consuming cause of timing - e.g. bunny glass sold in 2 days, purse in 2 weeks, and cooler in 2 months. He also has hundreds of items up for sale at any given time while also searching for more - it's a huge time suck.
I love going to estate sales and watching this stuff but they just really doesn’t seem like it’s enough money for the time spent. You spend hours looking for things to post online only to make 10, 20, $30.
I hate to tell you, but that Dooney and Bourke bag isn’t real, any authentic leather handbag will not have plastic on the handles. I have a real Dooney and Bourke bag that I bought from Dillard department store, it didn’t have plastic on the handles. As a general rule of thumb any real leather handbag won’t have a plastic bag covering the handles, instead it should have a thin foam piece taped with tape. Also when I bought the wallet from Dooney and Bourke website, it had the same foam insert in it to keep its shape.
That was foam ya goof..... and he actually has a close friend that deals in that brand that he called while at the sale and had them authenticate it for him. Anyways when you buy something from a store it's gonna be packed and prepped different from someone selling it elsewhere so just cause you had one experience doesn't mean everyone else's experience will be the same.
@@adammonahan687 all I’m saying is no authentic leather handbag has plastic on the damn handles and anyone who deals with designer goods knows this. I’ve seen enough real leather handbags, and I’ve seen fake leather handbags, a real leather handbag should never have plastic on the handles. You’re not going to tell me otherwise.
@@adammonahan687 the fucking listing photo that he posted if I could attach an image I would show you, also it shouldn’t be in a plastic bag, it should be in a fabric bag, particularly a navy blue dust bag that says Dooney and Bourke on it, nothing with or on that damn bag should be plastic. Also there should be paper protecting the handles never plastic. I even bought the matching wallet to my purse from Dooney and Bourke website, there was no plastic on it.
@Sims you do realize a owner of it can put their own protective stuff on it. What makes you think it came from the company like that. Your judging the authenticity of something over minor details
Those igloo coolers are awesome. My mom kept one in her vehicle in the backseat for my brother and I when we were kids and my brother recently removed his center console and replaced it with the igloo cooler so he could have cup holders and a cooler (he’s a big redneck so this is true genius).

Omg a xoonry and Burke bag for $50!! My mom has a collection tion of 35 of them. The ones I have have lasted me 20+ years.

well damn I didn't realize the value!
found a tan one a couple years back and gave it to a good bud
How come all the garage sales I go to sell junk piled on with crap?

How do you authenticate Dooney and Bourke without their website ? The website is only helpful to a point

To sell on eBay, great, but the cost of shipping. NOT
When you are selling them do you make a bid or just put a price❤
But how do you sell it on eBay I'm curious now?? 🤔
What's your avg time it takes to sell items? Or what's the longest you guesstimate an item to sell before won't buy it
To buy or not to buy. That is the question
I have a cooler like that

People put up posts all over local community FB groups and FB Marketplace. You frequently even get pics of what they have.
Craigslist has an actual garage sales category
Between ebay fees and shipping and the fees of your own time, how do you even make any money.
Only go to garage sales hosted by people who've never heard of the internet.
