I've been so tempted to pick one of these up. It looks to be an excellent upgrade from the Ender 3 V2 I've got, mainly for that magnetic flexible bed and auto levelling!
Yeah the auto levelling is what sold it for me originally. So handy.
Nice video. I've had my Neptune 3 for a couple of days now and it's awesome. Flexible PEI print bed is a dream. No more concerns with bed adhesion. A lot of quality issues you've raised will come down to tuning. Filament temperature can be optimized per roll, supplier and type. An easy fix for the upper part of curved surfaces is to use variable layer heights. I think it's in Cura (?) but I know it's in Prusa Slicer for sure. Also changing print orientation to minimize the amount surface that's within a few degrees of parallel to the print bed can help. Faster inner wall print and travel speeds and wider line width can make decent reductions in print time. Having recently jumped into resin printing with a Mars 3, I'm in awe of the print quality of resin, but boy I really love the ease of use of FDM with the Neptune 3. Dealing with IPA, cleaning, recycling and so on for resin is a pain. Swings and roundabouts! Anyway enjoy the ride. Cheers.
Great review! I have a Mars 3 as well and hope to get an FDM printer as well for more functional prints and something my 9 year old daughter can use.
Thanks for the great, beginner friendly, review! I'm going to stick with resin for now, but I might be looking at getting one in the future.
You’re welcome. I still prefer my resin printer as it lets me print off awesome minis but this is a nice extra to have.
I just jumped to resin from fdm printing a few months ago, this makes me want to try fdm again. If the price stays low for another month, you've sold me!
If you have a use for it, then it's a great printer 😁
1. You could always change the firmware to Klipper in order to print much faster, even on these low-end printers.
2. The power consumption jumping up and down during printing is from the bed heating up. It doesn't stay on at a certain percentage the whole time, it basically turns itself on for a second, then shuts off.
I completely missed this printer, I'm looking for a really cheap printer like this that I could use for less critical prints so that I don't need to ramp up the 1500W heated bed on my RatRig 500mm for things like that :D I'll consider this one for sure, thanks for the review.
I just started not long ago with resin printers . So my daughter wanted some things made that the resin printer cant handle so for Christmas she is getting her very own Neptune 3 Pro printer . The STL file she wanted is of a tree village that looks like it could stand 2 - 3 feet tall and spread out over a large area with all the out buildings . I told her , here you can now build your own Christmas presents , and the neighbors , and their neighbors lol . But it's going to be interesting trying to learn this thing out and how to make it run right . Software I think I will be using Lychee since they now are going to be running FDM printers as well as resin . On a side note can you recommend any good books for troubleshooting in detail , Someplace you can get decent profiles to get the best optimized settings . Where I live this sort of stuff is pretty unheard of and you cant get any advise as what your doing right or wrong . A persons on your own on everything so mostly we just wing it .
Great video! Do you happen to have links for those files you’re showing?
Thanks! I've just updated the description and popped them in there. Hope that helps.
I also got mine about a couple of months ago and have enjoyed using it, but the settings just seem to be the most confusing thing for me. So you are only using the recommended settings that they included in the base software from the drive right?
I’ve just been using the settings straight from Cura. Over the past week I’ve finally started experimenting with the settings and I think I’m beginning to understand it all more.
I ordered one from Amazon should be here tomorrow I know nothing about this stuff I’m having a hard time downloading files to my iPad Pro I may have to do it on my desktop can you tell me what files come preloaded with this machine how many ????? Also it’s 2022 I did a Google search and I was unable to find anybody that is selling preloaded files on a micro SD card that I can just load in the Neptune 3 and print, yes I know you’re probably laughing but I am very bad with computers I just want to print does anybody sell them pre-loaded also don’t forget my question how many preloaded prints are on this machine ? Ty 🤗
There is one file preloaded onto the SD card that comes with the printer, it is a buddha figure. I don't think anyone sells any pre loaded prints.
What is the difference between this and the 3 pro?
From what I’ve seen they basically fix a lot of issues people had with the standard. Better levelling, more accurate prints. In the U.K. the difference is like £20 which from everything I’ve seen is well worth spending.
Could you do a video on printing miniature figures on the Neptune 3? 😁 Just to see what the results would be like
Sure thing! I've been getting better quality prints as I get used to it, so I'll do some more things like miniatures very soon.
@@GrayScalpMiniatures Sweet! Looking forward to it 😁
which site has the skeleton? thanks
They’re by a creator called Flexi Factory.
Thank you
'It took forever, like an hour'?
Man... I spent three whole evenings building my Anet A8 from a kit. Every single component came individually... An hour is nothing 🤣
That’s why I like this so much 😂 I’d picked up an FDM printer at the beginning of the year that took me forever to put together so this was such a relief when I unpacked it
