Thank you for the video. This is my first printer and you had me immeaditly at the start of the video. I did stash it in the garage and beg for forgivness after it was found, but that wore off in two days I wanted it for cosplay and the kids knew about it before the wife, which is why it took two days instead of one. It has been really easy to use. I will take your lead on the head scan but for the kids and print those as memories. I had never considered using it for that. Thanks

OK. Here's a top tip for you, from years of 3d printing experience. Don't use glue stick on the textured PEI sheet. The first time you use it, you messed it up, and nothing will ever stick to it ever again. However, if you find that some filaments just don't stick properly, flip the PEI sheet and on the other side you have a smooth side. You can use a glue stick there, or even better, skip all that and buy some extra strenght hair spray. Really. No, really, really! Easy to clean with some isopropyl alcohol too! Oh, and don't even try printing PETG on the textured side, use the flip side directly. Textured side can stick too well. Also, thanks to your video I bought this printer and I told my wife, that you're to blame. Good luck! 🤣🤣🤣

That bust of yourself actually came out pretty nice. I was surprised at the detail and smoothness of the print. Pretty cool. The comment about cutting it in half and giving it to your mum as some kind of weird fruit bowl made me laugh. Her reaction to that would be worth a video in itself. Or maybe she's already used to seeing slightly weird stuff from you already?

If you are using cura to slice, then updating to a .6 nozzle is super easy. Its only going to change the Line Width. You can adjust your layer height to print even faster. The line width is going to change you print time because it adjusts the amount of walls you need. If you go from a .4 to a .6 you can remove one wall because you will go from .4 x 3 walls to get 1.2, to .6 x 2 walls to get the same strength. Bumping up to a .28 layer height won't give you much a difference in what it looks like detail wise and will also reduce your print time. It is usually better to do .28 when doing props and bigger items. Good luck. I love .6 nozzles and wouldn't do much with a .4 anymore because most of the stuff I print is props.

Brilliant video! 0.6mm nozzle will definitely be a life changer for you. Especially with the new cura version and variable layer width.
Interesting that you’ve only been able to get pla to stick to a pei sheet with glue stick. I wonder what bed temperature do you print at? Have never had issues myself, only that it instantly pops off when the bed is cooled down.
Also those print speeds are… well interesting. I had a CR10 max in the past, and I ruined it by swinging it around too fast. Belts, pulleys, all of it. Or at least I suspect that was the issue. Because the bed is so large and when you start stacking kilos of filament on top… we’ll it puts a lot of stress on the printer imo.
Since then slow all my printers down to 50mms, although if you actually check - the actual speed for walls, infill etc is different to the generic setting. If you’re printing large cosplay items (which is what you’re probably doing on such a large bed lol), then I would look into increasing wall speed (I run mine at 30 for most prints), because that involves both bed and hot end moving together in long smooth motions. But then slowing the printer back down to 25 or even 20 for other things that are more jerky. Such as top and bottom layers (also helps with overhangs) or supports depending on what you are using.
Anyway, those are just the things I picked up in my own experiences. There’s a lot more, but won’t bother making you read through all of it ahah.
Appreciate the video though, thinking of adding this to my CR10S pro v2 lineup for those extra large juicy prints… just wish it was Bowden instead of direct drive

@@FauxHammer the bed moving along the Z axis instead of the Y reduces the space needed around the printer and allows for faster y travel… I also believe the frame makes updating the printer more accessible in the future. The Ender 5 to mercury one is a solid example.
