"I hope it's not [something] lined - that way you'd die of neurotoxin poisoning" - Dan, as ever the cheerful member of the LMG team. The first time I saw him, he recommended doing electrical repairs standing on a metal chair because "if you get it wrong, they can't make you do it again"
LMAO I remember this! I don't remember what video it was from though
PTFE, aka Teflon. When heated to very high temperatures the fumes can be toxic.
Dan, the Lumalee of LMG
@@SUPER_ZOMBIE It was the one where he was helping Linus setup his new living room's VR setup. And what he said was something more like "If you mess up, you don't have to go into work tomorrow."
@@bubbledoubletrouble FYI - If you, or anyone reading this, ever uses the "self-cleaning" mode on your oven, you need to open all the windows, remove any persons and pets until the cleaning is complete because it does burn the PTFE lining off.
Can Dan review a handful of printers and give us his suggestions at each price point?
Well if you want most incompetent reviews...
And he admits complete incompetency by "my home printer runs at 30mm/s"

Now this is a 25 minute shortcircuit I can actually get behind!
For $300 that is an outstanding value.
Yup. This is the first PLA 3D printer I've seen that actually makes sense and looks pretty solidly engineered. It's a shame it's just a PLA printer. I'd love to see a desktop metal sintering 3D printer at $300. Currently, metal sintering printers run about $12,000 on the cheap end and easily push $100,000.
I just looked it up and was like WOW!!
@@privacyvalued4134 True. I remain hopeful laser sintering printers will find their way down to affordable prices one day like FDM & resin did. As stupid and wannable Apple as Formlabs are I will give them credit for making the first effort in making at least nylon sintering printers that are more in the small business/rich hobbyist price range.
@@privacyvalued4134 Choosing beggars.
metal sintered for $300? dude.... are you even serious. LOL

The tiny fan in the hotend is for cooling the heatsink, the two fans on the side are layer cooling fans.
Came here to say this. Why would you ever have two fans blowing at each other for the heatsink cooling 🤦🏻
Thanks to Dan for hosting today's video.
I love these videos where someone absoutely knows their shit with a particular product. I don't know jack shit about 3D printing, but I'm sold on this product based on Dan's assessment, and I understand why this is great. Very well done.
He actually knows very little. He called the heat sink fan the part cooling fan and he says his printer at home can only do 30 mm a second if you’d like to see 3d Print reviews there’s a lot better you can do not saying his is bad there’s just gaps in his knowledge.

Agreed. First time I've watched one of his videos, super informative. Subbed
Pshht everyone knows the best way to do it is to buy an ender 3 for $250-$300 and put $400 worth of upgrades into it.
That’s exactly what I did 😂. Although I payed 120€ for my ender3, and only spent 250€ for upgrades (raspberry for klipper, 32bit mainboard, 3dtouch, linear rails, direct drive and dual z)
Mine just got here 4 days ago. It’s a fantastic printer. Done some complex prints like castles and stuff at full speed (250mm/s) and it KILLED IT. Amazing value!
You almost certainly did not. It's a common beginner mistake and I'm not the least bit judgey, but you should know at any usual layer height the hot end wouldn't be able to keep up, and the printer would never actually be able to hit top speed unless you cranked the accelerations so high that the print came out looking awful other than literal straight diagonal lines across the whole bed.
But the Bambu lab X1 does a great job? It isn't that unbelieveable.@@BeefIngot
Great video! I love how it feels like the editors are allowed to try to express their personality with funny clips but their editing doesn't distract from the content.

I was fully expecting this to be $600+, seeing it at $300 makes me seriously consider it.

Just bought one. Excited to see what it does.
This was my first short circuit video, never really wanted to venture here and boy was this a BANGER video, kinda swayed me towards this as a secondary printer. Ive been teetering between this and bambu labs p1p (look i want the companion cube ok)
I just got this for Christmas thanks to your recommendation. I made my first of many things.
Incredible first impression video you did great. Elegoo as a brand has included a lot of the same features and kit to their last couple of generations of Cartesian printer and that's why i tend to recommend them to new users. Other brands you have to upgrade to get the same features when elegoo just realized that this is what people like. The upgrades on this printer is wild with the speed and rails and I'm quite intrigued. Pla+ had been my go-to material for many years since it's the easiest to print with. It's consistent. It's tough and rigid and I can hold some very tight tolerances when prototyping and making fixtures for the shops I work in. 10/10 all machinists and engineers get in to 3d printing as an additional tool in your belt.
It is very nice to see and quite obvious that Dan's knowledge around 3D printing has improved and grown a lot and in a relatively short time! Also really nice to hear that the engineers at LMG are using Vorons. This great as a "first printer with Klipper" option for newbies and I hope printers with stock Klipper that are this affordable reach "ender 3 status", especially since they seem to have a better out of the box user experience. It used to be that consumers would buy an ender 3 and then in the first 5 minutes they started ordering upgrades and printing modifications to make the printer actually print well. I am happy that those days are gone and now you buy a 300$ printer and you can actually have some nice prints without any need for modifications or fixing issues.
Waiting for mine to get here. So thankful you guys did a review. Thank you.
I want Dan to get more Short Circuit content to the market. He is thorough and funny and I love it!!
Bought this for my wife for Xmas. I was having second thoughts about this printer after I bought it,but your video made me feel much better. I was actually able to understand what you’re talking about. BRAVO man
i bought one of these as a first 3dprinter based on the review, and some yt vids showing that it wasn't impossible to do 3d cad. Apart from a slight challange with the initial manual levelling, it's been great; easy enough to setup, and use. the network acess is only while printing, which is worth mentioning. the money off discount is available directly. Its taken a little while playing around with settings to get precise holes and first layer for latest version of cura, but it seems to be quite capable. It can handle abs and nylon as well as the usual pla.
"that won't break your bank!" Sir, you have not seen my bank account
FInally got my 4 pro. I was as concerned at home the head would move itself to death but the speed the bed moves really is amazing, it'll prevent the head unit burning out the rails ! Great printer, even compared to the Bambu its amazing for the money!
Really enjoyed the full in depth video great informative content 👍
Dan is one of the best, if not the best host at LMG. Always lots of humor and knowledge while casually being well spoken and easy to follow.

Nice review Dan..I have literally no experience of 3d printers so to me they look like pure voodoo..the speed that thing was moving was crazy!
I pre ordered this.. already have the Neptune 3, absolutely love it. Looking forward to the 4pro.
great job Dan🎉 I really like your printer videos 👍 the video so packed full with interesting details, so I don't care its not "short" - it could 2h and would watch it completely🫶 I vote for more Dan videos❤
Ordered ! You sold me at "EVERY beginner should have this printer". I've been doing CAD for years and hesitated to take the next step and get myself a nice printer. Now it is done. Can't wait to toy with it, thanks for the review !
Just got this for 150€ on eBay as my first printer. Super hyped to start printing!!
Nice to see someone like Dan doing a review like this. He comes off as someone who knows his stuff, at least where it comes to 3D printers. It also makes a difference that he is throwing things on the floor rather than randomly dropping everything he touches.
I'd love to see Dan do a review of your Voron setups and any mods you might have done, though that being said there is a lot do dive in to with vorons. I have a 350mm Voron 2.4r2 and love it.
"I hope it's not PTFE lined, otherwise you will die of neurotoxin poisoning"
Just a PSA for those who don't know, PTFE, commonly known as Teflon, starts to decompose at temperatures above 260°C, so unless you for certain that your hotend doesn't contain PTFE (for example full-metal hotends, most hotends do have PTFE in them) its not safe to print at temperatures above 260°C
Toss in a CHT nozzle and that printer looks like it might be a winner. Its really nice to see cheap printers coming to market with klipper installed so we can print fast. There hadn't been any major advancements in FMD machine in the past 4 years aside from volcano style hotends. Like there have been a few smaller things but now with klipper, Volcano, and CHT nozzles we can actually print really fast. Eventually my sidewinder x1 will die and the neptune 4 pro might be my next printer
Ordering it. Thank you, Dan
I've got a Neptune 3 downstairs chugging away right now, and this is looking like a hell of an upgrade.
The little fan by the nozzle is to keep the heating block from over heating and to keep temperatures within range. The one on the left and one on the right side are for layer cooling with the big blower accompanying those.
Saw this early on Floatplane, watching it again on YT. Videos hosted by Dan are rewatchable af. Funny, informative, and soothing all at the same time.
I decided to pre-order this as my first 3D printer, thanks for the rundown! I hope it works well for me
can you please make a how-to for setup? ensuring things are square, that motors are stepping correctly, that beds are level, that hotends are flowing properly... from square 1
Wow. I’m actually sold. I’ve been waiting to bite the bullet on my first 3D Printer. This doesn’t look like a cheap little toy and I can learn a ton while having actual functional software and features.
I have been keeping a eye out for a recommendation for a starter printer, and I may have just found it thanks Dan, you the man etc.
Octoprint also has a Bed Mesh Visualizer plugin. But it’s nice that it’s integrated into fluidd
I see Dan, I watch the video. I didn't know it was possible to be chaotic dead-pan before he came along. This printer looks very interesting and might just be the one to get me to open my heart and wallet to 3D printing. Thanks.
Elegoo makes great stuff. I've got the Neptune 2S and the Mars 2 Pro for resin and they're surprisingly good for their price. Probably gonna pick this one up when I've got some spare cash.
Yo I’m so glad you covered this printer! I’m. very into 3d printers and am looking to buy another!
you guys can make an ltt video for getting started with 3d printer for different budget and proficiency level. can also include a bit about 3d print farm business that people are building now a days.
I myself want to start 3d printing but not sure which one to get.
You want to go to an actual 3d printing channel. You would not benefit from such a video. I promise you.
Dan you should have demo'd screw tilt adjust while you were showing the bed mesh. Also you can klipperize any printer, including yours.
I've had my Neptune 4 (non-Pro) for about a week now, and this is probably the best video I've seen on it. That said, I've been printing at a real 250-300mm/s, and I haven't had any of the issues seen here - aside from a bit of ringing, my prints have all come out perfect. In practice, this is just as fast as the Bambu printers, and the only thing it lacks is proper input shaping; the accelerometer headers are present on the controller board and it's obviously present in the firmware, there just...isn't one. In a sub-$300 printer, that's not the worst thing in the world I guess.
It may be close to as fast but it's still a v roller bedslinger. It'll wear down quickly when pushing 200mm/s
Core XY is for fast printing
@@Itsudemo1 - when you can buy 2-4 of these for the price of a CoreXY, it's not really a problem...especially when you consider the closed ecosystem and crappy firmware limitations of most CoreXY printers on the market, compared with this one running Klipper.
1 hour after this video goes live and we've already hugged the Elegoo site nearly to death.

Would love to see more focus on the resin side of printers as well. Elegoo makes some nice ones.
Glad Dan is getting away form the help at the Wan Show. Excellent job. Keep up the good work all. That includes you Terren.
Not only did this video sell me on (and cause me to buy) the Neptune 4 Pro, but it introduced me to Klipper, and sent me down the rabbit hole of converting my Ender-3 Pro over to run Klipper off of a spare Raspberry Pi I have. Good job.
In case you wonder about a axis rods being belt connected-that’s actually a relatively common thing, especially if you upgrade from one rod to two. It’s made in case only one driver makes two steppers move
Happy y'all run Vorons. ♥
Crazy to see how far 3D printers have come.. I bought my first 3D printer 2017/18 for 500€
It had NO heated bed (I think it was a 120€ upgrade part) and no leveling assists.
I’m buying one. Also Dan looks so happy. It’s great to see!!!!
I was actually hoping you would do this review/showcase.
Dan getting excited about cool nerdy shit is dopamine-fuel for sure. More please.
The printer I am currently using (and it is also my 1st 3D printer) is Creality CR200B - And for the 1st printer it is actually pretty awesome. The only downside I can think of is that bed levelling is not automatic - it is same as here (4 knobs & sheet of paper trick). But again, the price point is similar to the one in the video, but what you get instead of way too fast printing is fully enclosed printer that is pre-assembled & works out of the box. I was even able to print some ABS stuff and it did not failed. And it is not that the printer is slow. My default print speed is set to 60.
Looks like Linus isn't the only one who can drop stuff
The small fan is for hot and cooling the two larger fans on the sides are for layer cooling.
The expletive at the end really has me very interested. It is also nice to see Dan this perturbed about a printer 🙂
We love Dan
Dan can review a booger and I'd still watch it.
I for one was happy when I got the Neptune 3 Max, then a week later releasing the Neptune 4 series! Hoping they dont release the 4 Max for a while! What I can see from that review of the 4.. Differences are the extra fans on the back of the extruder. Extra light on the extruder. 300°C temp upgrade on that nozzle. Yeah im happy and reckon I can upgrade this max with no problems. 😁
Dan is a fantastic host. Hope to see him more often! I know nothing about 3D printing, but thanks to Dan's enthusiasm and knowledge, I found myself ready to throw money at the screen when he said the price
Dan's indifference @ 18:55 is why I love his hosting. Just completely unfazed by the utter chaos of it all.
The Klipper FW (and mainsail ui) are open source. I built a printer last year, and have all those features on my UI as well. 400x400x400 cartesian, Octopus board, with 2209 drivers, and an RPI 4B running the interface.
TBH this one looks a lot like a Ender 3 S1 Pro, it has Z motor sync as well, magnetic HB, nice look, print head connects via just single ribbon cable, but spool holder isn't screwed into frame, just clips. And also it doesn't have Type-A port or internet connectivity, but it doesn't feel too bad, i was planning on repurposing my old Galaxy A8+ into a print server anyways
YESS!!! More 3D Printing content!
I'm moving in a few months to a bigger place, this is at the top of my shopping list
It seems a lot like an ender3 thats just gotten all the upgrades most members of the community recommend. Very cool.
It's Klipper, you can put that firmware on pretty much any consumer printer out there today. I run it on my Creality printers but it won't run on my FlashForge.
The only two things stopping me from pre-ordering this machine (it is pre-order only at the moment) :
1 - "Remember. No pre-orders"
2 - The question if this is a cherry picked / "golden sample" - This is by no means a shot at Dan or LMG, but I 100% agree with Dan on the question of how the hell it's so cheap
you shoudktn because the P1S exists and is far better value.
If anything preview/review models of 3D printers are usually slightly worse or lack some features or final touches of the consumer release. Elegoo and Sovol are great brands, not everything has the be Bambulabs or Prusa expensive to be good.
@@BeefIngot Why are you all over the comments recommendig people Bambulabs, especially as their first printer. 99% of people will never utilize them or require their features. Most people will even be fine with a Kobra Neo or used SV06/Neptune 3. You keep going on about how nobody knows what they are talking about, but you blindly telling people to buy 700+ dollar printers is just stupid.
@@kwedl Its not blind at all. I have experience with all spectrums of printers. I say with full context that this is the best option, because I think people value their time, not getting frustrated, not having to tune and calibrate and I've seen way too many people give up or spend all their time with the printer trying to improve it. This printer, you don't do that. It's absolutely a great justification.
@@BeefIngot I'm severely inclined to disagree.
First, for the price of a P1S I can buy two of these printers. I am not looking to spend that much at this time.
Second, my use case and rationale behind wanting this machine requires zero of the advantages the P1S may or may not have over this machine. Since you don't know my particular use case or rationale, good luck proving otherwise.
Third, since, as stated, you know nothing about my intended use of this machine, my experience with 3D printing, or what other machines I may or may not have, your blind (and thus blatantly ignorant) recommendation falls on deaf ears.
Fourth, the amount of comments you've dumped trying pumping up the P1S has me thinking that at worst, you are on the Bambu Labs payroll (making you a paid shill) and at best, you're so deep in the fanboy-ism you legitimately cannot comprehend why anyone would ever buy anything else, and both is never off the table. Also, it should be noted that no matter what you may attempt to reply to this with, you cannot prove to me either of those statements are false, not that I'd care if you could.
I would love more 3D printing content. This looks really similar to my Anycubic Kobra2. Maybe labs could make comparison charts in the future so you could easily compare different printers with links to your review videos for any printers that have them? That would be a way to have labs help drive views on youtube.
I'm a fan of Elegoo, I've had their Neptune 2 for a couple years now. Great budget printers. Probably going to be upgrading to the 4 or 4 Pro here in a few months. Their customer service is top notch as well.
