Carburetor intake screen is upside down the way you have it installed. They are always facing down in all my engines.. It can be installed either way and that tell that somebody else had the carburetor off before you. If water were to ever get under the hood and splash, with the intake facing up, it will work as a water scoop and possibly hydrolock destroy the engine. It is supposed to face down so if water is splashed on it barely any will get into the engine. Thank you for your detailed video.
Yeah, that has been pointed out a few times and you are also correct. If I still had this engine, I would have done a correction video. Thanks for watching!😎
Thanks for the Honda BF100 tutorials. You are the only one who has such nicely done tutorials on this motor, I just subscribed! Just one thing I wanted to call out is that I think your air intake on your carburetor is upside down, the vented screen should be facing downward according to the shop service manual. Thanks again and please keep the BF100 videos coming!
Thanks Hot Tamale! I'll double check the intake...I don't think it can be flipped over as I'm pretty sure it only mounts one way, but thanks for point out, I'll look at it.
Really appreciate your videos. I just picked up a sailboat with this same motor. I would have spent forever trying to figure out how to disconnect the shift linkage
Great series of vids! I own the 7.5 which looks mechanically the same as yours, and so far I keep taking it to the mechanic when something needs doing to it, but having watched these I feel inspired to have a go at it myself. It runs fine most of the time, but after it's been running for maybe an hour it slows down and dies. Seems like fuel starvation - squeeze the primer, pull the string and it's good to go again. Maybe a failing fuel pump, maybe a sticking float needle in the carb - time to man up and have a look at it myself I think! Keep up the good work sir...
Awesome!! So great to hear the videos are inspiring DIY work! They are super easy to work on, and I agree with your initial assessment...fuel pump, most likely, IMHO...
I believe I ordered the same carb for mine. And yes looks like one of the fuel filter attachments is facing the wrong way, glad to know I can rotate the bowl to fix this. I have been searching forever to find a new carb. They are extremely hard to come by here in Canada.
Does it make sense to change an entire carburetor for the sake of a gasket worth less than a dollar? Any carburetor needs maintenance by cleaning it easily. Also, placing the filter upside down...😮
Whether or not it makes sense is irrelevant. I replaced the carb because I wanted to. There are thousands of videos on cleaning a carb and how easy it is to do. The video was about replacing one. And yes, the screen is upside-down, covered by many comments already. I sold this engine several years ago, but thanks for watching anyway. 😎
That amazed me actually...I've never installed a carb without some adjustments needed, but this one was set exactly right for this motor as installed out of the box.
Hi Tony, I don't have a current link to show as I bought it on Ebay and the listing links change all the time there. But if you do a search there, I'm sure there are NOS ones available.
I have the same motor, would you mind sharing a closeup of the shifter mech near the carb. Mine is running into the throttle cable and is steering to fray the strands. It’s hard to see the way yours is mounted.
Hi There, I was looking to order a new Carb today when I checked you channel as I was going to message you and ask where you get parts from. New Carb on the way already thanks! Quick question for you if you don't mind.. Where did you find a manual for the engine? Mine is identical to yours, 1980 (I believe) but I am struggling to find any info about it. I gather it is the same as a BF? Many thanks, Tristan
I haven't had reason to, so haven't done it. It doesn't look too difficult once the lower unit is off...4 bolts...maybe 5...and it should come off the lower part of the case.
I wish I could answer this for you...but I haven't looked in to this yet...and likely won't get to it as the dinghy is for sale. We don't use it, and I'm gonna buy a jet ski...I think...LOL
That was noticed and commented about below as well. I did double check it and that is how it came off, and there was no way to turn it over to mount the other way.
Here is the seller I bought it from, Freedom Cycle- www.ebay.com/usr/freedomcyclenh?_trksid=p2047675.l2559 If I paste the listing, it will expire and won't give the info, but if you click on that link and then click on 'Items for sale', you should see the carb listed.

I just ordered a brand new carb on Amazon for 50, just need to rotate the bowl 180 degrees but works great!
Awesome!! That’s a great deal!!

Part number?

Thank you
Do you happen to know the part number of the OEM carb I’m looking for a overhaul kit but I don’t know the part number to tell to Orileys
I’m sorry I don’t…I bought the carb off of eBay, new, but it’s been several years and I don’t have that history anymore.
Wow. So with the carb you didn't have to adjust the idle pin.
That amazed me actually...I've never installed a carb without some adjustments needed, but this one was set exactly right for this motor as installed out of the box.
Do you have link for that carb need one lo great videos thanks for making it easy for is with your videos

Hi Cesar...my apologies, but I don't own this motor anymore. Sold it after I sold the dinghy last year.
Can you put a 10hp carb on a 7.5 motor??
The manual is the same for both motors, so I would think so. Google probably knows👍
can you do a video on how to adjust the valves??
I don’t own this motor anymore…sorry.

Hi Tristan, this link should work for ya.

@@WiscoBoater Awesome. Thank you!
Can I use and evinruude connector on the fuel line? Mine leaks gas, I have the exact same motor
Thank you
I don't know for sure...most of the connectors at the engine are the same or similar...but can't say for sure.
Have you happened to take the mid section off yet? I’ve got to take mine off and was wondering how difficult it was
I haven't had reason to, so haven't done it. It doesn't look too difficult once the lower unit is off...4 bolts...maybe 5...and it should come off the lower part of the case.
Have you ever had to fix/replace the throttle stick on this motor?
Didn’t have to do that while I owned that motor.
You mentioned the pull cord starter not engaging. Is this repairable or best to purchase? If so, where can it be purchased?
I wish I could answer this for you...but I haven't looked in to this yet...and likely won't get to it as the dinghy is for sale. We don't use it, and I'm gonna buy a jet ski...I think...LOL
I sprayed WD40 in the paws and it engages like a charm now.
@@leslemasters7384 I'll do the same!
I'm not sure but I think your air intake is upside down.

where you buy. that carb for this motor
Got it on eBay.
Hi. You said you bought the carburator online. Could you paste the link in the comments? Thanks!

Where did you order the carb
eBay...I think I mentioned it in the video, but if not, there is a company on eBay that sells them.
