Short video of my first outing on the 180BR. I didn't do any footage of the launch or initial test runs just so I could fully concentrate on what I was doing, but she performed well, and I'm looking forward to the next launch! Enjoy!
2000 Crownline 180BR, New Bimini Top
Переглядів 3065 місяців тому
The boat came with the original "Bimini top"...but it's more or less just a rain cover or with some expansion pieces, a "camper" canvas. In this video, I install a new, much more useable top. Enjoy!

Been a bit, but I think I've finally made a decision on where I want to be with my next boat, at least for the time being. A little runabout to have some fun on the bay. Let's take a look at a 2000 Crownline 180BR.
A Jet Boat?

Buying boats is fun...I keep telling myself that. This is an attempt to buy a great boat that turns out not to be a great boat. It's unfortunate...I wanted this to be my next boat...really badly, but t'was not to be! Enjoy!YES

Next boat name honey I shrunk the boat lol 😂 great job
Why not run the stop button and kill switch in parallel so you can stop the motor two ways?
Let go Sheldon sea shells
I just used your video and did the impeller replacement on my B100. I had one hiccup though. The little gearshift link pin, I dropped it into the tube that the linkage runs through. I ordered a replacement and will be using a screw for testing the motor until the replacement arrives. My question is, will the pin cause any issued if I just leave it in there? My other options are to disassemble the whole thing, or turn it upside down and hope it'll fall back out.
I would turn it upside down to try and get it out, especially if the lower unit is still down. Easy enough to do…or maybe you did since this comment was a week ago…sorry about that…been away for a bit. I don’t know if it would cause an issue, so I would clear it if at all possible.
The breathing sounds in squirrel voice were gold!
If the filler plug was left in at first the oil flow would be more controlled. I had one of these years ago, great motor! It had a more colorful hood. I sold it and bought a 15, that was a lot heavier and had more vibration. The 10 was very smooth with two small pistons. Later went back to the 8hp classic, not as pretty but pretty much the same motor rated in prop hp instead of power head hp. One change is the old ones would shut off when put into gear if the oil was low. The later models would sound an alarm but continue to run - It's up to the skipper to choose whether to shut it down or run it low on oil. Depending on the tide, current and rocks it just might be a decision to take. :)
Been three years. I wonder how #2 is doing?
I need to check in with Wayne and maybe get an update vid out!👍😎
Video was super helpful. thanks very much
Thank you for making this video. I have a hynautic system in my new to me boat and I was at a loss on how to fill with fluid. So thank you
Where’s part 2
Apologies, but I didn’t get to part two before selling the boat early in the off-season last year.
How to use the equilizer function
My apologies, but I sold the Regal 4 years ago…I can’t remember how the equalizer works…
That thing is a hoot........
Hey, just a couple questions about the water heater remover. First of all I trust you shut off the breaker to the water heater before you went down and drained it because the element running with no water in the tank is bad news that’s what happened to me secondly how did you shut off the supply to the water heater? You removed the cable or the hose that feeds the water in After you’ve already opened the drain so obviously you had shut off the main feed to it and I’m just wondering where that can be found . Thanks
Sorry for the late reply! Yes, there was no power to the water heater when I started, so the element was not running when it was drained. This was all done in the storage building in the off season. Because of that, there was no water in the system on the boat, so the only water I had to drain was in the water heater tank, and whatever was left in the supply lines after the system was drained. But, if you are talking about a 381...and many of them are different, but on this one, the main supply shutoff was in the locker by the port side entry as you go downstairs to the Captain's stateroom.
Did you have to drain the gear oil first?
No, gear oil is below the water pump housing. 👍🏻
did you just have the wrong sized pole in the wrong spot?
Assuming you are referring to when I had it mounted to the side windshield in the factory spot, and the rear pole was too short...no, the side poles come pre-assemble, and are riveted in place, so they cannot be switched with another pole. The only assembly on this top at the top of the 3 bows. Everything else is factory assembled. Cheers
@@WiscoBoater Hi again. So I ordered from Seal Skin Covers and have the same issue as you did - the frame is too big for my 19 ft crownline. Do you happen to know what part number it was that they sent you the second time? I'm working with them to get me the correct size. Thanks
@@FreyaStandridge Unfortunately all I have is the original receipt with the wrong PN on it. There was no paperwork for the replacement. The PN was on the box, but I don't have that anymore. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful on this.

Open-toe sandels? OSHA violation!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Did you get a new truck?
Yep! Back in April👍👍
Didn’t know they used torsion axels on boat trailers. Winterized my boat and took it to storage yesterday. Can’t believe it will be over 6 most till I see her again. Have a good one. Cheers!
Crazy how fast summers go the older you get!🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
So I guess you won’t store the boat in your garage so you can put your truck in there?
Correct! Meatball has a storage unit just across the street from my place tho, with power. 👍👍
Hello, my name is Dmitry, I am from Russia, I cannot buy Tug 9 drawings, could you share or sell photos of these drawings
Thanks for watching! But, no I can’t share the drawings. One, I don’t have the tug or the drawings anymore, but even if I did, each set of drawings has a serial number and they are copyright protected by Berkeley Eastman. Hope you can find a set tho!👍
Hello!, Thank you for answering, could you buy the drawings for me, I can't contact them and I don't have any friends in America, I'll send you the money tell me where
Sweet! Scotchbrite pad & some Mercruiser black spray paint on that skeg…….lol.
Yep! That's on my list of winter work! There are several areas on the drive that I will touch up. Thanks!

Do you have any idea what year your trailer is? I have one exactly like it I’m restoring but have no idea of the year. I like what you’ve done. Thanks
It was original to the boat, 1962 as well. 👍
You just spin the driveshaft with a little molly on the Impeller and water pump housing. That zip tie method is nonsense mkay. You can put the lower in gear and spin the prop so driveshaft rotates clockwise.
We all have our own methods, but thanks for watching!👍😎
Would it be possible to put links to the decals, hubcaps and maybe shocks for us?! I'm going to need those too. Thanks!
The decals I got on eBay...lots of colors and sizes available there. Hubcaps were from Hubcap Mike's hubcapmike.com/vintage-hubcaps/baby-moon-hubcap-wizard/ ...and the shocks I got from my local Napa store.
Nice! I'm thinking of doing a similar trailer resto, would be my first time on such a project. I'm wondering if the media blasting co did a quick primer coat to prevent surface rust, or if you had to quickly do that? Newb here but I've seen steel get light rust so quickly, I'm concerned about that time of bare metal. Thx!
I did not have the media company do a primer coat. In my case I had to time it correctly (and they were willing to work with me) to have it blasted and get it home on a dry day. I put a primer coat on it the day after I brought it home to prevent rust.
@@WiscoBoater ok cool. I live to close to the blasting company, so I'll try to arrange priimer timing no longer than the next day. Thanks, great videos. 👍
japanese craft are so robust.
What a vessel, man. I can see where the comfort factor is off the chart coming from a 30’ Regal, or any of the pocket cruisers. It’s just a bit more boat than I’d want. I love the classic Chris Craft styling and quality, though. I’d like to find a nice, well kept 1970’s era 25’ Catalina. It’s mostly just gonna be me and my wife on weekends, and won’t be doing a lot of entertaining, so it makes sense for us. A v-berth, galley, dinette and wet head in the cabin and a Bimini over the cockpit and I think we’ll be happy.
Love this!! The 70’s 25ish Catalina’s are AWESOME boats!! Wish you luck! There are great ones out there!👍😎
Yeah, I just love them. I spend time on the Gulf of Mexico, but I live in Tennessee and that’s where the boat would be kept. I really want a Catalina that has spent its life in fresh water, so I may have to find one in the Great Lakes area. Sure hard to find one down south that hasn’t been in salt.
Awesome opportunity, would love to own one of them!!!💚💙💜❤️💚💙💜❤️ I would leave the screen used as is, battle scares add to the character of it!!
We just finally got our boat out for the first time last weekend.
Hopefully you have a lot of good weather left!! 👍👍😎
What brand and size tires were these? They fit the boat perfectly!
Got them on Amazon- a.co/d/cduxov2
Great name! Great times!
Just think, it coulda been the night we were texting about flying monkeys! 😊😊
🤣🤣🤣👍
Meatball!! Love it and the story behind it. And there is a extremely loose connection with Thirsty Whale if you reach for it...
That’s a very astute observation Jeff!! Love it!!👍😎
Hahaha…would be funny hailing each other over the vhf….LadyD 🤙🏾Cheers
Hahahahaa!! That would be hilarious!!😂
What….not Weathervane?? 😉😂
lol!!! While that may still be accurate…I think that one may be retired. 😉🤣
Great name Chad! That spot you guys went to is a favorite of ours too. Always a good day on the boat. Cheers!
Yeah Haynes is so awesome! This is the first time I've been able to get in close and anchor in shallow water, so it was a new experience for a place I've been to many times. Can't wait to go back! Cheers!
i've got a BF100 80's Hard to start no water output, pulled .the flywheel sanded the contacts .new plugs, cleaned the main jet , new fuel filter checked all fuel lines . Going to fix the water re circulation problem. Whats next?... A new motor? Great video! 👍 GO NINERS!
Fuel filter/pump is what I would look at next. For the water circulation, check/change the thermostat, super easy to do on these. Glad you liked the video! GO PACK GO!!😁
Im looking at the same boat they are asking 4K
Nice! Have it inspected…
Is there a difference between the b100s and the bf100
No idea…never owned a BF100. I’m sure they’re pretty similar tho.
Same thing@@WiscoBoater
Nice job as always Chad! I need to rent your services for 2 weeks to tackle all my ridiculousness. Hope you are getting out on the water as well.
Hahahaa!! I’d love to come out and help ya! I’ll be on the water on Saturday with some friends visiting this weekend! 👍👍😎
I would have out the voltmeter in the blank spot in your gauge cluster. Easier to read while at the helm.
I would have had to make a plug to put it there. The hole is too big behind the plastic plug that is in there now, and that plastic plug spins freely, so couldn’t use that. I should have mentioned that in the video. All that, plus access was impossible without completely undoing the wiring harness to get enough slack to pull the dash out. Doable…but didn’t want to dig in that far this time.
Nice one Chad. Can’t have too many charging ports these days.
There's no way to describe the feeling you get when you drill a hole in fiberglass. It's a permanent hole. Did I do it right? Is it actually where I wanted it?
That’s why I avoid it, LOL…
Yay!!!!
Great to see you out and enjoying your new ride 🤙🏾. Nice…
Congratulations on the new boat!!! Hope you post video of when you do the deep clean. Would love to see how you do it.
Thanks John! It’s on the list of video ideas!👍😎
Hey Chad, I’m happy for you. What boat launch do you use? When in Sturgeon Bay we tend to go to Sawyer Park just because it has lots of parking for longer trailers and the ramp workers allow us to use the further out three launch lanes for launching and loading as an exception due to our boats size and draft. I try to use the furthest out lane to stay out of the other ramp users way because we are simply slower than many boaters. Yeah, we fully prep in the prep area and I can back the trailer in perfect the first time but its just too heavy for my wife to handle the lines if there is wind so I need to do some running back and forth. Hope to see you out on the water. Look for a Sundancer with the boat name Shambala.
I use Sawyer as well. Bought a season pass this year. Hope to see you out as well Doug!
