I just want to thank you for taking on this piece of Harrodsburg history and saving it for future generations. Fort Harrod and Harrodsburg are important to Kentucky and American history.
We are happy to be doing it. There is so much history in Harrodsburg that the Mooreland House didn't even make it into a book about historic houses around the town. The Mooreland House was too young. =)
Ms Mooreland could not be in more capable and caring hands. than in both of yours. Your attention and care in putting this house to right is just amazing. Yes, there are always many paths that lead to the same conclusion. We just do things the way we think they should be done and in the order we think we should do them. Neither way is right or wrong because they should both wind up at the same point in time.
I think you are right Carrie, Mis Moreland would have fell to ruins in just a matter of months. I have been watching since the start and I love your vids every Sunday. Sometimes I'm on the edge of my seat and holding my breath. Wish you guys nothing but the best.
Love watching your progress. I've gotten my husband into it also. In fact he often ask me on Sundays if I'm ready. So sorry to hear about Kitten. She was beautiful. Glad she found love with you two.
Firstly let me say thank you. I love, love, love your videos. There is always some yahoo with an unsolicited criticism to share. You are very gracious in your responses. 40 years ago we had a Queen Anne victorian that we loved. She was not nearly as grand or tattered as Miss Mooreland, but she was our pride and joy. We used to say we worked all day to pay for her and all nights and weekends to tend her needs. Job relocation forced us to let her go and now I get my rehabilitation fixes through good folks like yourselves. I went tp paint a small closet one day.and it turned into a 6 week project so I thought the boiler removal was an amazingly quick project. Again thanks for letting us roll with you, You are appreciated.!
These views are well deserved! I just love this channel and watching you two work. The house is beautiful and I am glad that y'all are bringing her back to her former glory! Even if it takes 20 years. Keep up the good work!
I love your videos - have been with you for over a year - I think you are an amazing couple. My husband and I lived in Western KY for over 50 years and now live in FL - I am a former grant writer and you are so right! Great job!!!!
I love your channel because you're doing a true restoration vs a strip down to the studs and making it an open concept remodel but calling it a restoration that seems to be the norm now on You Tube. OMG how true about box gutters! Been working on my son's 123 year old house and it needs new box gutters and NO ONE wants to touch them! Also has a stack stone foundation and are having the same problem with that. They're willing to pull it out and put in a pour foundation, but don't want to touch the stack stones. Didn't realize you didn't live in Kentucky! All the more praise of working on this gem!
@@moorelandhouse don't get me wrong, I think they look so much better than the metal box like hanging from the roof line. I just had no idea it was going to be this hard to find someone to fix/replace them........
My husband and I really love old houses and someday we’ll be able to have one of our own. We look at old houses on a website called old house dream that are rundown and hoping and praying that somebody comes along and does the same thing you guys are doing and I am so grateful that you guys are doing this with the Moreland so grateful. Thank you for so much for preserving. Such a beautiful wonderful home.
I think you two are the cutest hardworking couple. Recently I saw some “shorts”of your channel on UA-cam. I thought great! Maybe that will increase your audience. I enjoy your channel and look forward to the videos every Sunday. So glad you are sharing your hobby with us.
Love you two. Great sense of humour. Enjoy your videos. Just my opinion, if I were you, I wouldn't worry about the criticism. I like the way you interact with each other, the joy you get while doing the work you do. So what if one talks alot, talks over the other, and how the videos appear to the viewer.
Ya,ll have done an amazing job on the house so far, I hope it doesn't take you 20 years to restore Miss Mooreland because I'll probably be dead and gone by then. Lol..lol.. Bye, Kathy
Our plan is to be moved in before we are completely done and that will be within the next 7 years. The project will never really be done because there is always something to do one these old houses.
Thanks for the recap. I love watching the interaction between the two of you. You obviously have a lot of love and affection for each other. I have noticed that house renovations sometimes bring out the worst in couples. My husband and I have renovated and built several homes and people have been surprised we never fight.
We have 37 years of marriage experience. We have figured out that getting along is easier than fighting. It did take a little while to figure that out though. =)
I just love this house... such a treasure. I'm happy to see you taking such care of it... you are exactly what the house needed... those stairs are so beautiful... and the doors... and the stained glass. Such a treasure of workmanship... it's wonderful to see people appreciate old things. I'm even more glad that you are sharing it with us... sometimes I wish I could see more progress... but it'll get there... still a lot to be done before it can be rebuilt back to a livable space. But you are doing great. Don't let the negative Nancy's get you down. We ignore them... you should too.
It's very difficult to offend us because we are very comfortable with our purpose in life and how we interact with others. We do think it is funny to share some of the things people say to attempt to offend us though. =) We do appreciate your nice comments every week.
We are retired and found you today! We are living vicariously through you from way over here in Oregon! Have you restored the red brick on the left exterior?
I’m one of the ones who asked if you ever wanted help. 😆 You two are simply amazing with what you’ve accomplished so far. I’ll keep watching each Sunday and remember that even when it looks a little overwhelming, that you’re enjoying the process!
Just subbed up. I love this place! I follow a few others and live vicariously through them. It's always been a dream of mine as i am sure for many others. Looking forward to your progress.
I just found your channel. I really love that you are enjoying your hobby and that it preserves so much of these beautiful old dwellings. Now I'm looking forward to going through your older content.
I have enjoyed watching y'all hack away the ruined stuff that made this house so close to falling down! I don't think I've ever seen anyone attempt a house in this bad of shape and um so happy you are saving her!
Great explanation. I always wonder how far you have to commute to work on her. Last week’s overview was great, so many more satisfying hours to bring Ms M back!
I always enjoy how you problem solve the various projects that need to be done. It's always fun to watch your videos on Sunday. Carrie, I hope you feel better soon. You are such a trooper. Thanks for all the work you both do in order to share your journey.
You are a wonderful couple, with a fascinating and beautiful house for us to watch you refurbish. I love it when you upload a new video of what you are doing. Love from Louise 🇬🇧
Sorry Kerry has been feeling bad hopefully she is feeling better soon. So happy you got some increased views. stay. warm spring will be here soon and you can really get back to major projects on the house.
We are chomping at the bit. It has slowed us down a little because we don't want to be in the middle of another project when the weather window finally opens up for the masonry work.
I always enjoy the cats! 😊😊 Y’all have such a great outlook on things, and although I have heard you mention a couple of restorations, I didn’t know you did it so extensively! I love that you are restoring Miss Mooreland historically- not many people do that! I know it is down the road, but I can’t wait to see the foyer with that beautiful staircase and window!! 😊❤❤. Take care and many blessings! 😊❤
Hi, was reading the comments and saw that you had fog in the house because of how damp she was ... golly! Never heard you talk about that and, I’d never heard a house could have 8ndoor fog. Look forward to your vids on Sunday 😊
It was REALLY wet inside when we got it. The difference in temperature between the outside and inside is very stark sometimes as well which facilitates the fog.
Congrats on the viewership and keep it up, your channel is very valuable and the house is beautiful. Frank after all you had a great time digging the ditch🤭 People are most eager to move into a finished house and do not understand the passion that gives you the strength to renovate The gutters as well as the slate roof create the beauty of this house, every element creates it. You are doing a wonderful renovation, you know what to do and let it stay that way. Kerry I hope your health returns as soon as possible💚🍀. Minni decided , she will make it so and she did and no one can stop herSee you next week🌝
As someone that has done a similar project although on a much smaller scale ( hundred year old farm house in upstate NY) I really enjoy your videos. Especially your do it yourself attitudes. It’s one of my life’s true enjoyments and I suspect it will be one of yours also. Best wishes.
Been watching since the beginning. Great summary for new folks. I’d never want to see the process rushed because I wouldn’t know what else to do at 8:30 on Sunday. But, out of curiosity, do you think your end goal would be to live in the house once you can get it to a livable state with a certificate of occupancy? Thanks for taking us along on the ride!
We do plan on living in it as soon as we can. There is no real "certificate of occupancy" that we have to deal with. We could live in it right now if we wanted to. Kerry isn't for that though. Kerry insists on at least a bathroom before we can move in. =)
Sadly, Kitten left this world at the end of last year. We don't plan on announcing it in a video but we answer those who are concerned enough to ask in the comments. We think it is more of a private matter than public. Thanks for loving her though, we certainly did.
I just recently found your channel. Love watching restoration videos. This house has amazing bones. My dad took nearly 10 years to build a large mid century modern home during the 50’s. My mom and I helped when and where we could. I have just an inkling of the extent of your adventure.
I love getting your email Sunday mornings, it's the perfect time to watch and catch up with what you are doing. I was very happy when you did the whole house tour one, because just the week before I was trying to explain to my mom what you guys were doing. This is the perfect video to show them.
My husband and I do not have a channel on UA-cam but I have to say we are the same - no one is going to love and respect her (the house) the way you do so to hire out a work you love doing just isn't going to have the same sense of accomplishment. I am impressed at all you have done so far and the time and care to do it well is great to see. Thank you for taking us on this journey with you.
As a fellow box gutter sufferer, I feel your pain. My 1890's house needs box gutters replaced, one side of the house was redone in 2008 not that you can tell from looking at it now. The other side is probably original but it's also the side the squirrels like for their recent incursions into the attic. I can block off entry from the inside up to a point, but replacing the gutters again is the only real solution. I live up the road from you in Paris, my next door neighbour did find someone to replace part of his box gutters and the cost for the section they did was mind blowing.
Yes, we have said many times that box gutters are the bane of our existence. If we could think of any way to get rid of them and keep the look of the house, we would do it in a heartbeat.
@@moorelandhouse I had our roof replaced in 2020, turned out the original wood shake roof was still there and had been covered over with three layers of 20th Century shingles. The old shingles were well past there prime and leaking from storm damage in a number of places. As is typical of a 19th Century house, there was no decking for the roof. If we had more money, there was an opportunity to replace the box gutters with something modern but the cost of that was way out of our budget beyond the roof. Our house is nowhere near as ornate as yours, so modern gutters would not have noticeably altered the look of the house compared to Miss Moreland. The problem now is to find someone who can do quality work on box gutters. My neighbour only had the worst part rebuilt because he couldn't afford to have them all redone and who knows if the people who did it are still in business? As you have experienced yourself, contractors generally don't call people back even if they were the right people for the job.
So proud of your UA-cam accomplishment. I’ve been watching you for years. You’re always so calm and always figure out a solution to make things happen. Just love it! I do have a question. Since Harrodsburg is in Kentucky, and you’re not residents, how far away do you live, and how often do you get to work at Miss Mooreland? Where are the videos taken of the kitties - at your home or at Miss Mooreland? Thanks so much for taking the time to answer questions. I’ll keep watching and waiting for next week. Thank you again. PS. And thank you for making my time on my treadmill enjoyable.
We are residents of Tennessee but we have spent quite a bit of time at our 1905 Victorian home about 25 minutes away from the Mooreland House. The cat videos are mostly taken in the Kentucky house. We work on the Mooreland House about 12 days a month.
@@moorelandhouse Thanks so much for answering my questions! I just love watching your videos and now have my husband watching them with me! Thank you again! 🩵

I went tp paint a small closet one day.and it turned into a 6 week project so I thought the boiler removal was an amazingly quick project. Again thanks for letting us roll with you, You are appreciated.!
Yes, a small project can quickly turn into a huge project. We are glad you are able to get your DIY fix through us. =)
These views are well deserved! I just love this channel and watching you two work. The house is beautiful and I am glad that y'all are bringing her back to her former glory! Even if it takes 20 years. Keep up the good work!
The thing is, in 10 years a lot of the maintenance will start over again. =)
Amazing !
We agree!
I love your videos - have been with you for over a year - I think you are an amazing couple. My husband and I lived in Western KY for over 50 years and now live in FL - I am a former grant writer and you are so right! Great job!!!!
Thanks for being here! Yeah, grants do not interest us at all. =)
It's nice to hear that we are not the only ones that hate box gutters. =)
@@moorelandhouse don't get me wrong, I think they look so much better than the metal box like hanging from the roof line. I just had no idea it was going to be this hard to find someone to fix/replace them........
We found out 20 years ago when we did our first Victorian Era home.
Beautiful Fur baby
We love our cats.
Sounds great! You might want to start a little smaller than the one we are working on. =)
The light coming in from the right makes that hallway look fabulous.
Yes, there was a lot of sunshine yesterday and it was just pouring through the windows.
Get well soon babe. I love watching you both. You also make ma smile. Xxx
Kerry is feeling much better today, thanks!
I think you two are the cutest hardworking couple. Recently I saw some “shorts”of your channel on UA-cam. I thought great! Maybe that will increase your audience. I enjoy your channel and look forward to the videos every Sunday. So glad you are sharing your hobby with us.
We did a few "shorts" but they really didn't appeal to our audience demographic. Thanks for the nice comments.
Well said! We just think it's funny what certain people focus on. We thoroughly enjoy each others company.
Thanks for sharing ..
You're very welcome!
16:38 It would be really nice to be able to see the house on Street view on Google Earth.
Just do a google search for Harrodsburg Castle and you will find it.
Enjoy your videos and seeing your fur babies
Thanks!
Its clear you are doing what you love.
The main reason I leave comments is to help your channel.
Love that your saving history, keep on keeping on.
Thanks for that! We do enjoy it.
You clearly have thought this through very carefully, and are spot on! 🎯 For whatever my opinion is worth... Keep up the good work! 😊👍
Thank you! Will do!
I enjoy that you two are doing the renovation yourselves . It is what I would have to have done ,so I experience it through your log thankyou.v
We do enjoy doing it ourselves. It would be stressful to watch others do it. =)
Love your videos. Look forward to Sundays. 😊
We do too because we get to hear from wonderful people that feel the same way that we do.
Thanks for the video!
You are very welcome!
Hi🎉
Hello back!
That staircase is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen I love watching your videos
Yes, we had never really seen a staircase that was curved like that.
Welcome to the family! If it has been redone, we were the people that did it.
Your two are so brave to take this on.
I love how positive that you both are with such a tremendous challenge project.
We truly are enjoying the journey.
I’m one of the ones who asked if you ever wanted help. 😆 You two are simply amazing with what you’ve accomplished so far. I’ll keep watching each Sunday and remember that even when it looks a little overwhelming, that you’re enjoying the process!
Yes, you get us! We are a little touched in the head, we know. =)
Just subbed up. I love this place! I follow a few others and live vicariously through them. It's always been a dream of mine as i am sure for many others. Looking forward to your progress.
Awesome! Thank you! Welcome to the family.
I just found your channel. I really love that you are enjoying your hobby and that it preserves so much of these beautiful old dwellings. Now I'm looking forward to going through your older content.
Welcome to the family!
Thanks for fixing up miss mooreland. She will be beautiful when you are done.
We are glad to be doing it. It is very fulfilling.
I always share your site. What you both are doing is amazing.🎉
Thank you so much!
I love your videos and adventures with the house. I am just glad you take me along!
And we are glad you are here!
Happy Sunday!
Happy Sunday right back at you!
I love your talk and love watching you every Sunday❤❤❤❤❤ I love what you are doing
We look forward to your encouraging comments every Sunday as well.
I have enjoyed your journey through the videos. My favorite time was when you rebuilt the left portion. A real nail biter. 😮❤
Thanks! Just wait till we get to the tower then. =)
I have enjoyed watching y'all hack away the ruined stuff that made this house so close to falling down! I don't think I've ever seen anyone attempt a house in this bad of shape and um so happy you are saving her!
We like the words "technical disassembly" better than "hack away". =) We might be the only ones crazy enough to attempt it.
Great explanation. I always wonder how far you have to commute to work on her. Last week’s overview was great, so many more satisfying hours to bring Ms M back!
We stay in Kentucky a lot right now because we are working on the Mooreland House. Our Kentucky home is about 25 minutes away from the Castle.
Just found this channel . It's a mandatory Kentucky thing that I have to subscribe .
Welcome to the family!
I always enjoy how you problem solve the various projects that need to be done. It's always fun to watch your videos on Sunday. Carrie, I hope you feel better soon. You are such a trooper. Thanks for all the work you both do in order to share your journey.
Sometimes we even surprise ourselves. Kerry is feeling much better today than even yesterday. Thanks for your thoughts.
Shoot, the professionals would probably come looking for you to do that kind of work anyway
We could definitely be consultants at this point.
You are a wonderful couple, with a fascinating and beautiful house for us to watch you refurbish. I love it when you upload a new video of what you are doing. Love from Louise 🇬🇧
Thanks Louise!
Sorry Kerry has been feeling bad hopefully she is feeling better soon. So happy you got some increased views. stay. warm spring will be here soon and you can really get back to major projects on the house.
We are chomping at the bit. It has slowed us down a little because we don't want to be in the middle of another project when the weather window finally opens up for the masonry work.
totally understand not wanting to get into something new right now. The weather is going to change soon.@@moorelandhouse
Good morning guys! I’m glad to hear about the views. You have such a nice channel.❤
Thanks! It was fun to watch the view count grow through the week.
The foyer will probably be the first interior section that we will redo.
I get goosebumps just thinking about seeing that staircase well lit and the magnificent windows uncovered.
As do we!
I've shared several videos. Congrats!
Aha! Now we know who the culprit was. =)
@@moorelandhouse LOL!!
Ate you going to put keep the beautiful bead molding used throughout the house?
That's the plan! We are going to bring it back to it's original state.
You always have such nice things to say. Thanks and we will look forward to your comments next week. =)
@@moorelandhouse 👍
As someone that has done a similar project although on a much smaller scale ( hundred year old farm house in upstate NY) I really enjoy your videos. Especially your do it yourself attitudes. It’s one of my life’s true enjoyments and I suspect it will be one of yours also. Best wishes.
Yes, it is very satisfying.
Where’s your supervisor? Can’t believe he allowed you two to sit around yappin’! 😉
Sadly, Kitten left this world at the end of last year. We don't plan on announcing it in a video but we answer those who are concerned enough to ask in the comments. We think it is more of a private matter than public. Thanks for loving her though, we certainly did.
Very sad to hear that😂
@@moorelandhouse. I’m so sorry.
Best wishes always.
Thanks!
I just recently found your channel. Love watching restoration videos. This house has amazing bones. My dad took nearly 10 years to build a large mid century modern home during the 50’s. My mom and I helped when and where we could. I have just an inkling of the extent of your adventure.
We are glad you found us! We love watching restoration videos as well.
I love getting your email Sunday mornings, it's the perfect time to watch and catch up with what you are doing. I was very happy when you did the whole house tour one, because just the week before I was trying to explain to my mom what you guys were doing. This is the perfect video to show them.
That full tour was way overdue.
We are glad you understand. It really isn't for everyone but then again, neither is golf. =)
That sounds like an all too familiar story with houses of this age.@@patricklynch1962
We watch UA-cam together every morning while drinking our coffee.
Wow! Love the video's and all of you're hard work. Frank are you allowed to disclose who you fly for? You and i could talk about planes for hours as my dad was a private pilot. Keep up the great content.
Frank flies Boeing 767s for an international charter company. Flying is a lot easier than working on the Mooreland House. =)
when wi)l you rebuild the outside stone work???
We have to let it warm up. It isn't good to try to use hot lime mortar when it gets below freezing.
They've already done a section of stone work. It was a hair raising effort of epic proportion. Frank proved airline pilots are more than eye candy. 😉 He's quite an engineer.
Thanks for the confidence boost!
Congratulations on your new viewers. I enjoy your videos.
Glad you like them!
I are great keep it going.
❤
U are great keep it up
😅😅😅
We knew what you were saying. =) Thanks!
