The poor woman Lynne Perrie had quite a tragic life. Her only son was diagnosed with A.I.D.S. amongst a whole host of other things and she died young and ended up getting sacked by Granada , losing her role as Ivy which she did fantasticallly in my opinio n. One of the most believable characters of the 80 and 90s.
Poor woman didn't have a great life. She was hospitalized in psy h hospitals several times where Granada was left with little choice in the end, to not renew her contract.
Can Kevin answer a single question without scream whining like a bratty, moody, teenager?
Then Sally getting mad because Mike Baldwin was trying to be helpful?! Those two can’t get out of their own way
99% of Kevin and Sally scenes are shouting matches add Rozee’s screaming and it’s fast forward time.

I always rated the actor that played Nicky Tisley (Platt) he grew up on screen, he was pretty adept even at a young age, I wish they hadn't got rid of him for Adam Rickett, he was as cardboard as hell
His parents were actually real life friends of his on-screen father Christopher Quinten, who recommended him to play Nicky as a baby.. and he was in the show for 16 years!

She did lose her only son and husband. Yes she is over the top I know. Am I the only one who be pissed off at changing there names. It's not as tho he was a bad parent he died. If my kids dad died I would not change there names on the fact he died... Is it just me this??

A sloppy dialogue error at 2:36:09. Martin mentions that Deirdre once told him Tracey went off a train to stay with her step-sister Susan in `Glasgow`. She went to Newcastle, not Glasgow. That was on the 21st October 1985 episode.

Martin's outburst was very satisfying. Two years - hours for us - since Martin came on the scene and she'd not had one good word to say, constantly meddling.

@@cherylreznor181 Gail didn't change David and Sarah's names to Hillman, and that was because Martin was still alive. Martin was a father to Nicky and Sarah, who had fathered their brother, and their dad was dead and buried. Martin wanted legal rights to the kids he viewed as his own - if Gail had died at any point, he would have had none. It had been two years - almost three - since Brian's death at this point. Gail was still a young woman. She wanted a proper family for her kids.
That doesn't correlate to their father being forgotten, necessarily.

Bryan Mosely (Alf Roberts) really had experienced serious health problems in 1991. Probably why there were no further scenes of him with visitors when he was supposed to be in hospital, on screen. His health deteriorated further in later years. So much so, Bosses at Corrie wanted him to be written out of the Soap. Firstly, Mosely adamantly refused. Eventually, he agreed to film his last scenes but for 10 x his normal fee. 1999 Mosely collapsed while out with his off screen wife, who called an Ambulance. Upon arrival at Hospital it was discovered Mosely had suffered his last and fatal heart attack. Belated RIP sir. Response to video only.

But back in 1991 i found myself pregnant at 39yrs & no one turned a hair!
I think the only thing i had that i didnt have with my 1st pregnancy at 25yrs was an amniocentesis test to check for Downs Syndrome being a 2nd time mum over 35
Other than that, i was healthy & fit & sailed through my pregnancy like a ship in full sail
I ate very sensibly, went to, mum to be, fitness classes & only gained just over 1 stone in weight.
I dont think i ever felt better in my life!
Having got over the shock of such, at that age
( i thought i was in the Peri Menopause, the change of life
Lol.. it certainly changed my life)
I wasnt the only mum over 35 & pregnant, there were a few of us at antenatal clinic, one lady was 45yrs with her 1st child & was as fit & healthy & very attractive as a 23yr old & had a happy pregnancy & easy birth.
So hurrah for older mums, we have the maturity to cope & in many cases, the calmness to endure & wisdom to take good care of ourselves & know we arent ill or need wrapping in cotton wool!
My labour was 2 hrs, i delivered another baby girl who weighed
7lb 8oz & she arrived 3 weeks early, but 100% healthy & without a single problem, same with me.

Ivy looks awful, she is physically turning into the person she is on the inside. However I think Gail could have been more respectful to her dead husband who is the father of her two children and been more reassuring that Brian would not be forgotten even if Martin dies adopt the kids. As for Ivy and her controlling nature, thank god she's not my mother in law!!

Although Ivy goes about everything in the worst way possible, she is right in a number of ways about the name change. When the child grows up, especially if the second marriage goes wrong, they will generally want the name on their birth certificate. I know, it happened to me!
Gaile just became worse after Brian's death, her and the vulture mother of her's were always pecking at Ivy. Probably because Ivy didn't have anyone to back her up anymore.

I took my stepfathers name, and I couldn't be happier, Ivy isn't right about anything ever. Gale, being the children's mother, decides when and if the child changes his name.
I think it's different for Sarah and Nicky. Girls tend to change their name anyway when they get married. Nicky, was different, he was to carry on his father's name.
I don't understand why David wasn't Platt already. Surely Martin went with Gail to register his birth...or is it father unknown on his birth certificate?

What was it with Corrie at this time? So many OTT comedy characters, Mavis and Derek and their irritating nonsensical behaviour, now Reg Holdsworth who behaves like a Circus clown and soon to be Maureen Naylor who teams up with Reg to turn their scenes into sheer farce. Corrie always had great humour but all of this was so off the scale and not remotely natural.

Rosie screams all the time because Mummy and Daddy are always screaming. Obviously that little baby isn't REALLY theirs but I wonder why her real parents would allow their baby to be in the middle of all Kev. and Sally's shouting their heads off about everything while holding the baby and making her cry constantly.

The moaning is a lot! I understand that Ivy wanted her grandkids to remember their dad, and rightly so, but her approach was every kind of wrong. The real low point was what she told the social worker.
She's bitter and sad. Delusional in places.

Don - at this point - still thinks Ivy has good intentions? She is just attempting to take over her grandson (as a son replacement) and control his life, instead of allowing his parents to do so. As for the McDonald's and the building of an extension - why don't they just convert the front room, the same as it was done for Marion when she lodged with Elsie Tanner in that very same house? Or has the front room at no. 11 since disappeared? The McDonalds' never seem to acknowledge its existence, let alone use it.
