Congratulations 🎉 I’m so excited for you and want to hear more about your new job. I’m taking prerequisites and I’m of a mature age, nursing will also be my second degree once i get accepted.
I know those uniforms and badge anywhere! I work for the same hospital system, but I'm a PRN RN Care Navigator. Interestingly enough, I've been a nurse for 3 years now and I'll be transitioning to the ICU in a fellowship program with a different hospital system in a few weeks. I plan to keep my PRN job. I worked in health administration previously as well. I'll be following your journey in the ICU as I begin my own! 🙂
Hello, I recently came across your channel. I am considering going back to school for the ABSN program. I have so many questions, and I 43. Your videos are helpful. This is the first I heard of a nurse residency..it sound awesome!
Congratulations on graduating! My biggest tip would be to get a program… Either archer or UWorld… and find a consistent study schedule where you’re studying either every day or at least five times a week!
Yes! I still get paid in the residency program. The average salary of a new grad nurse in my area (the DMV) is between $70k - $85k, and my starting salary is in that range. It is definitely possible to work another job when you are in a nurse residency program. I stayed on PRN at my last job… and I am actually working and my other job right now, as I am typing this lol I’m off at the hospital today and picked up a shift at my PRN job. I personally wouldn’t advise working a fulltime or a part time job on the side though because the residency program does have “homework” and your schedule is kind of all over the place at first.
@@mimiy2938 absolutely! My residency program is 1 year and I will put that on my resume as 1 year of nursing experience. I believe most CRNA programs require a minimum of 2 years experience in critical care and the residency counts toward that 😊

Thank you! And it is super common for people to switch their careers to nursing! Good luck!

Do you still get paid during the nurse residency program? How confined are you to a certain time meaning could you possibly work another job?

Can you use the residency as an experience if you want to apply for NP schools like crna school

@@theluckienurse I submitted a lengthy reply but I’m not sure if it was deleted by UA-cam. But I’m in the DMV as well. I wanted to pick your brain.
