    What filament was used when your Bambu Labs clogged in a similar fashion? I wonder if there is a correlation.

    I don't have a K2 yet, but on the K1 Max I usually start diagnosing these issues by assuming a clog, so steps are unhooking the bowden on top of the extruder, unlocking the extruder, heat the hot end to 90C, and then cold pull the filament out of there. I go to disassembling the extruder after that. I have gone through three extruders on my K1 Max in a year.

      My K1's OG extruders lasted from launch, till about 2 weeks ago, when I shot replacement videos. 1500+ hours on them. As you see here, The K2 bowden coupler, wouldn't let go, with filament in it.

      @@3DRundown Yeah, that surprised me. When I got filament jammed in the extruder I was still able to get it to unhook the bowden on top of the K1 Max. That makes things a lot easier when you want to pull out the extruder.

    Do you think it was heat creep? I had PLA getting clogged at similar point in my k1max, after a lot of frustration with it happening multiple times I found it was because I was printing lid on, door closed and the filament was expanding or melting just enough inside the extruder that it was jamming in the hole just before exiting it.

    • @3DRundown

      I was starting to think so, but now, I think it's the Filament failing to retract, due to issues with the spool not getting along with the CFS. I have now failed it 4 times. All 4, at the 1st color swap.

      Had this exact same issue on mine but for my part filament was getting clogged right under the extruder after exiting the blue boden tube, I found that using the back fan and lowering print bed temperature on my slicer setting for some filaments was a less prone to user error task than opening the lid every time pla is loaded.

      It certainly cuts the filament, as the firmware will list that during extrude/retract, but, I wasn't thinking of that, and I didn't see the cutter. I'll certainly need to get into all that during a proper video. Cutting it, should have helped remove the extruder from the stuck bowden, but the Jam would remain.

    I had a jam in my Ender v3 which uses the same K1 based extruder. Yea I had to do a complete teardown of the toolhead just to get to the gears. The introduction of an AMS..sure it complicates that process. I will say, this is a routine issue that can happen at anytime with that style toolhead but it is in the realm of fixable. Still doesn't help customers who are not inclined towards manual repair.

    Have you tried the Bambu buffer tool on maker world? Looks like it would work on that buffer as well. I get that the filament was jammed so nothing would budge. The Bowden tube has enough slack on the buffer you may have just been able to cut it and remove the filament and press on. I know the lengths are important but you probably have a bunch of the stuff on hand. You may also be able to make a version of the buffer tool to fit the top of the extruder. If it’s not already available it will be soon.

    • @3DRundown

    • @3DRundown
      @3DRundown  День тому +2

      Neither. I think it's likely a fluke, caused by a design weakness. This gap shouldn't exist. It's there to facilitate gear contact, but There's gotta be a better way. Bambu Extruder looks the same in that spot. So, what looks to happen is, the filament get's warm, a little to high, develops a slight bend, rubs on the edge of that slot, and boom. Toast. Perhaps it's a cooling thing. Unlike other tool heads, the Cover has no fan. It's side mounted. Heck, maybe the Filament had a defect.... a Bump, a Kink, a Wide spot.... that set this in motion. We'll all have to keep an eye, and see if this is a regular occurance, or a rare annoyance

They eventually get things corrected, it's so much better now then when I first got it. It's still not as reliable as my Bambu A1, but it's a good printer now that it has the upgraded extruder and rooted and all that, but wish I didn't have to go through it all...

    • @3DRundown

      There is no QC issue with this extruder, nor did any QC issue cause this jam. Things like this can happen for a multitude of reasons. My P1S extruder imploded, due to the same jam in the same spot. I'm a big fan of the K1. I have a launch K1 and Max. I work them really hard. I have a total of one fail, ever. Mostly large masks. Finally gave in, and swapped the hot ends and extruders, for the channel. They never failed. I prefer them over my Bambu's, but, I need the Bambu for Color. Never saw a need to root them. I've never even looked at their bed meshes. Creality is very quick to respond to issues and create improved revisions. I don't think most peeps realize the insane amount of Creality machines out there

    • @SavijCoder
      @SavijCoder 9 годин тому

      I was talking overall about QC not the extruder on this model. I think they rushed the k1/max out to compete. I and many people had issues with the early ones, but Creality stood behind it and got it sorted (had to return one of them) . I love my K1 Max even though I don't love the extruder design. I've had to disassemble it a couple times and it is a pain compared to how some other hot end/extruder come apart. No printer is perfect. I do have more reliable prints on my A1. I think it may be the 3rd party pei plate I use in the k1max though. The A1 comes with a very sturdy plate and the Ali express one I bought is a bit flimsy in comparison. The creality pei just didn't last for me. Still though would buy a K1 Max again, light years ahead of those old ender designs! I rooted to add Kamp and use a browser, love how granular you can tweak things! Anyway, loved to see the issue and the resolution. Good luck and hope you have smooth sailing from here on out.

    It would be nice if K2 owners check out the videos on the Creality wiki. In this case, all you had to do was remove the protective cover and disassemble the front of the extruder (3 screws).
    On the other hand, if you mount the damper on the back of the CFS instead of the back of the K2, you can probably put the CFS on the side. I haven't checked this because my K2 hasn't arrived yet, but looking at pictures, I think the cables are the right length for this setup, all that's missing is a longer bowden tube, but that's easy to get.
